Wild Ones Tip #109
We’re the reason the gene pool needs a lifeguard.

People often ask me what in the hell convinced me to move to Tomahawk, Washington, where the four corners of crazy are known as the Wild Ones. They want to know what possessed me to live next door to the Vincents—the same ones who think it’s acceptable to fish with dynamite if the fish aren’t biting the hooks they so generously attempt to use.
They want to know why I ever thought I’d make it in the woods with bugs, bears, and other things that want to take a bite out of me.
I tell them all the same thing…
It’s a long, crazy story.
And of course, I blame one girl.

Gosh, this is boring.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but this book has been on my "currently reading" list since last October and despite my immense respect for Ms Owens, I simply cannot read any further.

ETA: Lucky for me, one of the nice people in my comment section pointed out that I wrote the wrong name for the guy in this book in the entire review. It's NOT Ethan, but Ian. I have no idea why, and no excuse except that I don't always brain so good, I'm bad with names in real life, I was probably drinking, and I don't care that much.
That's it... .carry on...

My second time editing this review. Somehow, my brain got it wrong AGAIN, even when the guy's real name is written in the comment section. LOL! I am guessing that people now believe me when I say that I'm really bad with names. The guy's name isn't Ethan OR Ian. It's Liam. ...
Liam, Jilly. Liam... get it through your thick skull!
Okay. Carry on...

Book Two in CrazyTown, and of course there is a wedding of the previous characters. The weddings in this town are also...um... non-traditional. Let's just say that if there were more weddings like this in real life, we would be paying admission to get in. And, probably not dressing up so much. Still, if you survive the experience, you would have great stories to go with the bruising.

Ethan IAN Liam is the guy from the last book who moved into town and was the first beardless guy anyone had seen in 9 years. He had scores of women after him, but he only moved here to be with one of the crazy girls that he met and fell for. So, he's a little stalkery, but that's good because sane just wouldn't fit in.

Steve would also fit in.

Kylie is from the town is in one of the "Wild" families. She was briefly in Los Angeles and met Ethan IAN Liam and they fell for each other. Literally. Of course, he forgot at that time that he had a girlfriend.... yeah, he actually forgot... okay - a little douchey. Okay, a LOT douchey. So, she's not going to be easy to win back.

The very beginning of the book isn't as funny as the rest because we see their romance in Los Angeles, and the very best thing about this series is the town they live in. Ethan IAN Liam moves there to be with her, and he totally embraces the crazy. I want to live there too!

Dude, the beard thing is over. And, the new challenge is so much better!

There is tons of hilarity in this book. Ethan IAN Liam started as kind of a douche, but turned into an awesome guy. Kylie was pretty awesome from the start. The next book is even better - which seems impossible, but this series gets better as it goes.

If you have actually made it this far in my complete train-wreck of a review, I applaud your patience and courage. I will never, in a million years, get your name right, but I like you. Thank you.

If we won’t call you a cunt, it’s because you lack warmth and depth. In other words, we like people in a weird way.

Another hilarious read by CM Owens!!! This is the second book in the Wild Ones series, and if you are looking for a light hearted, feel good romance then you need to check this series out! It is definitely one you don’t take seriously... but it will make you laugh out loud and take you away from the stress of life! I’m thinking I need to read a lot more stories like these ones!

The people from Tomahawk are off the wall, and hands down crazy!!! The thing is that they are not the type of crazy to hurt others.... they are the prankster type! Kylie; the heroine can tell you from her experience just how far they will go!! After all, she did wake up to find herself floating on the lake while laying on an air mattress!!! ( she shouldn’t have gotten drunk that night!!! Lol!)
Kylie falls in love with an outsider of Tomahawk; but Liam is more than willing to try and fit in with the nutty town!!! Wait until you see what lengths he’s willing to go!!!!

I couldn't get over the fact, that he had a gf as he met the h and let her nurse him for 3 weeks. They had plenty of oral sex, slept in the same bed. But he just forgot that he had a gf. Even if he was in so called open relationship with his gf, it's somehow cheating if he lied / said nothing to the h.

I guess it would never happen to him with the h, coz she was 'special'...
Yeah, tell me more.

Before I end up with another 2-stars rating, I'd rather quit.

Bummer... 😩

Jeeeezus....lol

These people are truly faithful to their name the WILD ONES, they are a crazy bunch of diversity and spunk, jabs and pranks and hilarious 'rules' and. town's 'traditions' they up hold...

I had fun...

Even though, book 1 Becoming a Vincent was indeed slightly better for me *wink*, Going Wild still catches my full attention between a constant outburst of comical, even childish pranks while the main protagonists Liam, the rich billionaire who realized that his life was a total miss after he meets sassy spark of wilderness in Kylie Malone, one of the WILD ONES of the 4 corners of craziness in this small town of Tomahawk....and the pursuit of love in between the many ridiculously funny 'tests' Liam needs to exact to be fully accepted by this crazy community....

This book took the whole wild lake lifestyle in this series to a new, stupid, not funny level. I didn't enjoy those parts of the story at all, they just felt stupid and juvenile. Not crazy in a fun way that the author was clearly going for.

The worst part of this book is that the hero had a girlfriend when he meets the heroine. She was away and he forgot about her. YES, YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY. What a dumb AF excuse though. They had an open relationship, so the girlfriend doesn't even get mad when she finds the heroine in the hero's house. The hero & heroine had been having oral sex at this point... and the heroine was hurt by his omission. It was just such an unnecessary addition to this story, totally unneeded, and could have been cut out easily. Idk if I really consider it cheating in the real life sense, but it was just so stupidly unneeded that I will call it cheating for a romance book.

The hero gets his act together after this, but it somehow was never quite enough for me. Their relationship felt weird and forced, I just didn't buy it.

SWE; Hero was in an open relationship with a OW when he meets the heroine, he doesn't tell the heroine about her (because she was out of town and he forgot that she existed) and fools around with the heroine. Heroine finds out about the g/f, h leaves, and H immediately breaks up with g/f. They are then separated for 1 year, during which both are celibate. No scenes with OM/OW.

I loved Becoming a Vincent more than this one, but it was just as crazy. And because I can't get enough of Tomahawk's craziness I read it in one sitting. This series is so enjoyable I could read it indefinitely. Crazy, funny, ridiculous stuff with endearing characters.

At the beginning the hero is such a douche. Shallow, arrogant and fake.
Mhm, yeah. No biggie.
description

The hero grows as a person and he's crazy obsessed with the heroine, stalks her and everything.
The heroine is one of The Wild Ones so she's insta-love for me, but she's having major trust issues.

We are reunited with the characters from book #1 and their crazy is just getting crazier. Le-sigh. I wanna move there so badly.
I read the author's note, which I rarely do, and found out she's drawing this crazy stuff from her childhood. LOL
C.M. you rock!!!

I also read the sneak peek of the next book and fell in love with it. I'm dying to read it. I hope the "coming in 2018" means it will come out in 1.1.2018. I'm not even kidding.

If you wanna read about OTT silly and funny shit, the MCs who are crazy about each other, the town where everyone is insane, but you can't help to love them, and the light, sexy plot with low angst, you should definitely try this series.

It was funny and crazy in the beginning.
But while everything interesting happened maybe in the first third, the rest just dragged and dragged for the sake of I don't even know what. During the artificially "crafted" conflict, which wasn't all too funny, I just wanted to get it over with, and it's never a good sign. Hm, I've already got the third book, but not so sure if I'll ever read it.

Going Wild is the second book in the Wild Ones romantic comedy series. This book can be read as a complete standalone as it focuses on a new couple; Liam and Kylie. If you have read the previous book in the series you will have already met both characters however, at that time they were not yet a couple. In this book, you will learn how they met and then reconnected a year later.

Overall, I thought this was a good book and I was really happy to read Kylie and Liam's story. Kylie is a fun and feisty character who wears a coat of armor so that she doesn't get to close to someone romantically. Liam is quite the charmer and goes after what he wants no matter the price he may (or may not) have to pay. Their interactions were quite funny, and I love seeing Liam "become" a wild one. However, I didn't find this book as funny as Becoming a Vincent and was slightly disappointed because of it. I am a hardcore romantic comedy fan and love books that will make me roll on the floor laughing. This book didn't do it for me. There were funny moments of course, but I wish there were more.

In the end though, I did enjoy the book and would certainly continue reading the series. I do hope that the hijinks keep coming though as I love how C.M. Owens writes humor and brings these crazy characters to life. Even more, I hope she writes a ton more books for the series because the secondary characters are priceless!

I’m disgustingly addicted to this series
description/

I wasn’t a fan of the organization of the story, but I still enjoyed it. And the Wild One’s tips at the beginning of every chapter became dull and redundant.

HOWEVER, Kylie was a great female MC, but that Liam, Liam, Liam

Yes, this is who I pictured as the male MC. How could I not?

C.M. Owens did a great job interweaving the previous story and setting up for the upcoming stories. I feel like I’m integrating into this make believe family. They are my people.

Edit: RIP Mrs. Owens

Ms. Owens is one of my favorite authors. Her books are just so funny.
I'm so sad knowing that she quit writing but still I'm grateful that she wrote some of my favorite books.
This one is pretty much funny but not as good as the previous books in the serie but satisfying and enjoyable. I loved the first book the most.
All my love to the author and hope everything will be alright for her.

This is second in a series and there's a ton of overlap. Kylie barely shows up in the first, but Liam is pretty present and the whole town dynamic is setup there. So I definitely recommend reading these in order.

Okay, if you've read the first, you know more or less what you will get with this one. Not that this is a retread because Owens turns out to be very creative and the hijinks in this story were as good as those from the other. They're the same trajectory but completely different, if you see what I mean.

Owens took a bit of a risk by having the two leads attach very strongly in the first four(?) chapters. I loved the whole episode with Kylie taking care of Liam and him learning how shallow his life has been and becoming fascinated with this woman who was always genuine and inherently kind. I loved, too, that Kylie wasn't some great paragon and had her own growth to undergo through the rest of the story with some of that hinted at in this early part (where she's a bit judgmental, frankly). Owens took a real risk having them connect so strongly this early—to the extent that you could clearly see that they had bonded in a real and lasting way and we weren't even 15% in.

So you'd think the weakness in the story would be how much there was left to tell. Fortunately, I don't think that's the case. Owens does a good job with the growth they still need to undertake and the town hijinks helped keep my engagement high through the entire story. The sole drawback, as far as I'm concerned, was that Kylie's motivation is strictly negative* and that was a drag on the plot. It doesn't help that the cause of that negative motivation is kind of silly. Yeah, her mom left and she has legitimate reason to wonder if any given outsider could be brought to adapt Tomahawk's weird ways. But there are also examples of outsiders coming in and becoming as much a part of the community as those born there. I think it would have been a much stronger work if she had been trying to determine which side of that divide Liam would end up on. Trying to determine if he would stay or go is more engaging than "I must protect my heart because everybody leaves".

Anyway, that one element drags this down a bit, but I was still wildly (heh) entertained so I'm ending up with 4½ stars that I'm rounding to five. I'll add that the bad editing deserves a mention because there were some truly egregious issues that really should have been caught. But with a story this engaging, I didn't really care.

A note about Steamy: There are four explicit sex scenes, but they're short and relatively light-weight so this is solidly in the middle of my steam tolerance.

* Negative Motivations: I kind of hate that the term "negative motivation" isn't widespread, yet. Since it isn't, I'm going to save off this little jag to append to my reviews that feature the term. Jennifer Crusie blogged about it a bit back and it changed how I understand story. The problem with the term is that if you've never heard it before, you'd assume it meant motivations that are harmful or immoral. Not so. What it refers to is motivations not to do something. The thing is that many of us are motivated to not do things for a lot of different, perfectly valid and reasonable, reasons. The problem is that in a story motivations to not do things are a huge drag on the plot—particularly considering the fact that most negative motivations are overcome by the character simply deciding they don't care any more (or, rather, that they do care and are now motivated to do the thing). So not only do you have a counter to action but you also have a situation where to overcome it, all a character has to do is change their mind. Which means eventually, the reader is rooting for the character to get over him/herself already and do the thing we want them to do. Conflict drives story. Conflict between a reader and a main character drives readers away from story.

Originally read in June 2018,reread October 2018....on a reread rating lowered.....spoilers ahead

We met Liam in book 1 when aunt Penny tried to hook him up with Lilah,we learned that he wasn't interested because he'd met a girl and moved to Tomahawk because of her.....

Kylie and Liam meet when he's gravely injured on a sky diving trip and she saves his life. While dropping of a sculpture for him she realizes he's recuperating on his own and stays to help him. They spend three weeks together during which they sleep on the same bed and have lots of oral sex.........until his Girlfriend shows up!.Liam apparently "forgot" said girlfriend who informed Kylie that it's perfectly ok for her to have had sex with Liam because they're in an open relationship. Kylie leaves although Liam makes a half assed appeal to her to stay.

Fast forward to one year later and he's uprooted his entire life and moved to Tomahawk because of Kylie. What ensues is the hilarity that the wild ones are known for as well as appearances by known and previously unknown wild ones.

After the girlfriend tidbit I generally liked this one, except I felt Liam and Kylie never really talked about him forgetting a whole!!!! girlfriend. In his pov he admits he fucked up royally by forgetting her but I needed some grovelling and proper apologies from him to Kylie. What saved Liam for me was that he was celibate since Kylie left. One of the biggest issues I had with Kylie herself was her lack of confidence in her own attractiveness. Coming on the heels of the very confident Lilah, Kylie's thoughts about her being the perfect rebound girl most times and not the girl most guys went Gaga over annoyed me. Always there was this little niggling with her about whether Liam really wanted her ,coupled with her doubting his sticking power she hesitated a bit over the relationship.

While I genuinely cannot forgive Liam and his mental lapse over Felicia (bye Felicia 😂) I still found myself giggling loudly over the antics of the wild ones and uttering heartfelt sighs as Liam determinedly tried to win Kylie. Had it not been for the forgetting issue (seriously who does that??) I would've rated this one another 5 stars, the humor in this series is just my type of fun but alas Liam was somewhat douche-ish so 3 stars and moving on to book 3!

This is my life.
This is my home.
This is my family.
This is my Tomahawk.

I absolutely love the Wild Ones and I love Tomahawk. This book is crazy and silly and wild and just so much fun!

Liam is an apparently normal person living in L.A. He 's wealthy and his friends and family tend to mooch off him. After he has a life threatening accident he realizes that he really doesn't have anyone in his life that loves him. Then he meets Kylie.
“I have no problem stalking you wherever you go. I’m tired of being fake. Tired of feeling fake. Tired of fake people. Tired of everything superficial. I want my life to be real, and that means I have to be just as real.”

He ends up moving to Tomohawk to be with her and starts off as an outsider witnessing the craziness that surrounds the Wild Ones. He blends in really well with the people of the town and he starts to wonder if the craziness is contagious. So much of this book didn't make sense but you just roll with it.

To add the cherry on top, this book was also very sexy. Highly recommended if you want an over the top crazy, hilarious ROM-COM!

Great 2nd book on series!

I thought this was an awesome followup to then first book. We learn more about Liam the stranger/outsider from the first book that Lilah's aunt was trying to setup Lilah with. We find that Liam has moved to Tomahawk because of a girl and in the first book it is a bit of a mystery, but thus book we find out who it is and realize that their story actually starts out one year earlier than the first book when Kylie saves Liam's life. Great read and I love how Liam changes from how he was a year ago to how he is when he moves to Tomahawk.

Wild and crazy...

Another entertaining visit with the crazy citizens of Tomahawk that left me smiling. This lakeside town has come alive for me and I found myself curious with what they would get up to next.

The main characters were far from perfect but ended up being lovable and perfect for each other. There was some drama at the beginning and Liam definitely was in the bad books with me. I found it fairly easy to forgive him though considering they hadn't really gone past the lusty lust stage of their relationship. It still hurt mind you, but the changes he made after his mistakes really showed his growth and commitment to his Wild One.

This series is filled with OTT shenanigans by characters that just can't seem to help themselves. In some ways, I'm horrified by what they do to each other. If this level of craziness was happening in real life, I would be less than impressed with their violent behaviour, but it's not and I can't help but chuckle. It's all done so willingly and never seems evil...well, not too evil.

Again, I found myself satisfied with this read and finished with a smile on my face. Going Wild was sexy and funny with characters that you can't help but love. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

I simply can't get enough of this series. It's amazingly addictive, full of hilarity and I am going to pee my pants moments.

This cast of characters makes you want to break lose and become a Wild One. I wish that Tomahawk was a real place I would move there in a heartbeat.

I adored Liam and Kylie's story. Both from two very different worlds but they just fit together so well. Kylie's personality was the best, she's a bit brazen and a dare devil which of course you kind of have to be to live in Tomahawk.

I honestly can't count the amount of times I laughed at the shenanigans in this book. C.M. Owens has really created a special place that reels you in, makes you want to let your hair down and just have a good time.

I liked this, even if it was missing a bit of the fun of the original book? I'm trying to remember but it's been awhile since I read this and I realized I hadn't posted a review, but I'm pretty sure it suffered from the sophomore blues - it didn't have the freshness of that first book, and the chemistry that's unique with each couple wasn't sparking my interest. Wasn't bad, but wasn't memorable. And that's the problem. That said, I am still willing to read the next one because overall, I liked the citizens of Tomahawk and I'd like to visit that crazy town again.

Going wild is book two in the wild ones series. As soon as this book went live, I one clicked straight away. I read this book in one sitting and was in stitches of laughter throughout. Just like with the previous book, as soon as I finished this book, I wanted to read it again. I can definitely say that this book will be read at least 10 more times until the next book is released.
One of the many things I loved about this book was the chapter headers/quotes. From page one, I fell in love with Kylie Malone. I loved that she dropped everything to take care of a man she didn’t know. The chemistry between Kylie and Liam was through the roof. I adored them as a couple and fell in love with their story. I liked that the angst was what opened this story. It was a nice change to start off with it rather then near finish with it. I loved that Liam embraced the wild ones and the town. He was a city boy but he didn’t run scared, he fell in love with Kylie and the craziness surrounding them.
Another thing I loved about this story was the introduction to more of the wild ones. I really liked Nila and Krysta. They were hilarious and I loved their friendship with Kylie and Lilah. I liked that Killian and Hale were good friends with Liam.
Overall, I loved this book and I cannot wait for more from C.M. Owens.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and a really enjoyable read. I cannot wait for Kai’s book, hurry up 2018!

‘’She’s the only thing I seem to find sexy anymore. I’ll never view sexy the same way for as long as I live. Because Kylie is nothing at all like anyone I’ve ever known. She can drive you crazy in four ways at once. She can make you positive you’re losing your mind. She’ll threaten my lie one minute, and suck my dick in the next, assuring me I’d die a happy man if she killed me directly after.’’ <3

‘’ You know those little sour patch kids that slap you and hug you in the next breath? That’s Kylie.’’ <3

This is one book I have been waiting for and could not wait to get started when it released; I loved Book #1 Becoming a Vincent. When I saw Going Wild, I couldn't wait to get back to the families known as The Wild Ones from Tomahawk. Book #2 features another of the Wild One's Family known as the Malones. Like Lilah Vincent, Kylie Malone is the only female in the Malone clan. Remember Liam from the first book, the guy who moved to Tomahawk for a girl he met in LA. That girl was Kylie Malone and now with Lilah's wedding causing all the Wild One's Families to attend - he can now capture Kylie's attention and eventually her heart. I have to admit I was in two minds about this book as I wanted a story about The Vincent Twins and me did read we get one of them in Book #4. Going Wild though gave readers a more in-depth look at how the town of Tomahawk works and the inner workings of the four Wild Families as we get brief mentionings of the other families around the town. In Going Wild, the town also gets their annual Trooper visit and I LOL'ed my way through this book with their different antics, and I have to admit I loved the "real down and dirty" - rednecks like the friendship between Lilah and Kylie. Can Liam prove to The Malones that he is the right guy for Kylie and is willing to move his allegiance from The Vincent side to the Malones and as the Vincent Twins did to Benson, unfortunately for Liam - it is five Malones against one Liam? If you love Redneck, Backwoods Attitude and lots of laughs with a spice of romance, then The Wild Ones series by CM Owens are the reads for you.

I enjoyed every effing word of this book. Especially when the town of tomahawk was trying to figure out a new challenge to do and these two brothers were there…one shaving his brothers head with his machete.

h left her town of tomahawk to do an art exhibit in LA California. She meets the H and he assumes a lot of her since she’s short, has Shirley temple curls and wears boots. When she’s invited to their groups skydiving trip, his parachute doesn’t deploy til the last minute and he injured himself badly (cracked ribs, shattered legs, etc) she saves him and helps him at his home for 3 weeks, where at the end, his girlfriend who he’s in an open relationship comes to his house and she bolts. He completely forgot about his girlfriend which I guess is a thing since they haven’t seen each other in over 8 weeks?….but….really? Just call her a fuck buddy 🤔

So now h is in tomahawk with trust issues and Liam comes back after a year trying to find her. And he realizes that the shallow life he was living in la where no one was truly his friend was not for him.

He sees a painting she’s done of a nonexistent dream cabin she drew and he makes it happen. He buys her all the boots she circled in a catalog. He gets in a random fight with the Vincent’s because she bought blue paint and then everyone assumes that he broke her heart. Cuz blue. And then h and her bf fight with nipple twisters. Every time the river dancing came up, I started laughing 🤓💃🕺

And that wild one rule about cunts lacking warmth and depth 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🥹

Honestly. I’m still giggling when I think of this book. So I have the humor of a 13 year old child? Yeah. Do I care that I do? Nopity nope 🤣

THIS BOOK IS JUST SO SILLY AND GREAT AND RIDICULOUSLY FUNNY AND I JUST DIED!

This story was a lot different. The pace different. The plot was different. The “drama” was in the beginning instead of building up to it. BUT one thing remained the same. The laugher. The joy. The community. The 4 Wild families. The CRAZINESS and the love.
And BOY did I like it! These books are just so light, and makes you feel good.

Kylie Malone (a Wild one ) goes to LA to showcase her art. She meets Liam- a rich, handsome, .. well prick and they go skydiving (with a bunch of other people) and she kinda saves his life. Yep. You read that right.

After Kylie leaves to go back home to Tomahawk Liam finds out he cannot let her go and decides to follow her there to try to win her back- oh did I say he fucked up? Well.. you better just read the book.
