Bonnie Bennett never breaks a promise, and she gave Enzo her word that she'd live her life. Rather than staying in Mystic Falls to wallow in her grief over losing the love of her life, she decides on a trip to Germany, the epicenter of the seventeenth century witch hunts. Excited to explore the depths of her magic in a country rich with witch history, she embarks on her journey, able to breathe just a little easier.
From the moment she arrives in Berlin, Bonnie knows something is wrong. Her magic is weakened, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't access her full power. Desperate to figure out what's wrong, Bonnie reaches out to a local coven, only to find their powers have been dampened as well.
Resolved to help her new friends and recover her own magic, Bonnie makes it her mission to figure out what's affecting their powers. As she digs deeper, Bonnie discovers a centuries-old secret threatening an entire line of witches. Together, they must find a way to restore their magic or risk losing it forever.

Brandy lives on the East Coast and dreams of running away and becoming a vampire. She is a diehard reader that can't breathe without adding something to her TBR list. She loves anything romance but has a special place in her heart for all things vampire related. She has a slight addiction (obsession) with coffee, chocolate and things that go bump in the night.
I liked the book, it was a quick read. I have not read the stories before this one, which appears to be #7. It was easy to understand who and what the characters were. I would have like to see just a little more depth to the characters.
This was an excellent book! If you have watched the Vampire Diaries television show this book just adds to what you already know. If you haven't it is an awesome book about witches! This is my first Bennett Witch Chronicle and I loved it! It was also my first Brandy Dorsch book, but it will not be my last!
I love the Bennett Witch Chronicles! Wonderful continuation from the Vampire Diaries, following up on things that happened in the final season. If you can't already tell by the titles on these stories, Bonnie Bennett is the main character, but several of the characters from the TV series make appearances. Bonnie decides to travel to Germany after finding a travel book her Grams had marked up and wrote notes in. She wanted to learn more about her witch history. Somehow no matter how hard Bonnie tries to live a more normal life, paranormal/magical drama always seems to find her. Her powers start to seem weaker and weaker. Alaric's cousin Eliza who lives there is also a witch and had given her phone number to her when she connected with her when Bonnie had arrived. Bonnie found out that Eliza's coven had also experienced weakened powers for the past 3 generations. Together the coven and Bonnie, along with the help of Alaric and Damon, try to uncover the mysteries around the power that seemed to be siphoned from the witches. Can she help the witches all get their powers back without anyone getting hurt? She is still a kicka$$ witch who comes out the winner. If you never watched the TV series, there is enough information provided to read this world of books anyway. I am just so excited to be able to continue to keep up with all the awesome characters I loved from the show. Full of adventure, magic, friendship, family, witty banter, and loyalty. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I received an ARC copy in return for an honest review. Being a fan of The Vampire Diaries and of the character of Bonnie Bennett, I was thrilled when they decided to start a series based on her. When Bonnie decides to live her life and travel the world just as Enzo had wanted her to, she decides to visit Germany and the scene of the European witch hunts. What she doesn't expect is to have her powers start dwindling. Knowing something is amiss, she enlists the help of Alaric's cousin and her coven. Together they uncover a secret that goes back 3 generations. Luckily, Bonnie knows where to look to find a way to resolve this issue. The question is, can she protect those that are innocent or will there be bloodshed.
Bonnie Bennett is trying to recover from an epic and life changing event from home. Where everything went wrong in her life. A little escape is all she needs and maybe some sightseeing. Things don't go according to plan. Maybe it's a pattern, but the locals are having a bit of trouble and she must find the truth before the uneasy feeling turns out to be too right. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review. This is the second book I've read in this series yet I really like the characters she meets up with, old friends for advice and the main character herself. Though this book did lack come characteristic from the other book it was still well worth the read.
This book is beautifully written by this author. This book is great: from the well-rounded characters to the interesting twist-filled, but believable plot I fell for this hook, line, and sinker.
I loved the dialogue and scene-setting in this book. I also found that I really wanted to know what happened next - I read the book in one sitting - all credit to the author, whose style of writing is engaging, fun and balances plot/drama with regular characters extremely well.
I found myself smiling throughout the entire book. Cannot wait to read more
Bonnie Bennett was a witch who had had a bad time lately what with losing Enzo, the love of her life. She decided she needed to get away from Mystic Falls and fell in the idea of visiting Germany. There she found her powers were being stifled and she knew that she needed help from the local coven to overcome not only the trouble that she had found herself in but the trouble her new friends were going through.
