He thinks he's too big for me. I like a challenge.
On my 25th birthday I received a letter. My mother had left me a piece of land in her will-- the farm I grew up on as a child. Her last request was that I restore it... and how could I say no? So I returned to my little town full of big memories. Nothing has changed here. Except for Grant Werther. When we were kids, I barely saw him. Now I can't miss him. The guy is HUGE; all muscle and beard, like some hardened mountain man. He's intimidating... and definitely sexy, in an alpha-male-cowboy kind of way. Turns out his dad owns part of my farm and he's got the papers to prove it. That means I can't do anything without Grant's approval. On top of that, this jerk says I'm too “city girl” to be here. And the way he openly stares at my ass in my cut-off jeans makes it clear what he thinks I'd be good at. He's the biggest man I've ever seen and I admit, I'm curious what he's hiding in his boxers. I didn't know he'd catch me peeking. Now he won't stop teasing me. He keeps saying I could never handle him, that he'd break me in two. I know I don't have to prove him wrong... But I want to.
This is a full length novel with a HEA and NO cheating! Penny Wylder writes just that-- wild romances. Happily Ever Afters are always better when they're a little dirty, so if you're looking for a page turner that will make you feel naughty in all the right places, jump right in and leave your panties at the door!
"He thinks he knows me, a spoiled city girl, the town stuck-up bitch. Well, I might be a city girl now, but I was born country. Some things you don’t forget how to do."
Sasha Bluebell may have the name of a Southern Belle but she left her country town for New York as fast as she could. Without looking back, it takes the death of her mother for her to return. Hoping to settle her family estate as quickly as possible, her plans are thwarted when she learns that half the property is owned by Grant Werther.
Sasha and Grant were once childhood friends. Now they're partners with the sole purpose of preparing their property for sale. And in doing this, Sasha may just get a refresher in the ways of country living and the charm of country folk.
His grin widens, and that animal lust in his eyes goes darker, wild. “I underestimated you, City Girl.”
“I told you,” I manage to pant, also grinning, and I’m sure the look in my eyes right now is just as hungry. “I’m just as country as you, big man. So fuck me like I am.”
Well holy moly, I've forgotten how hot Penny Wylder books can be. Apart from this damn sexy cover, and scorching sex scenes, I really enjoyed this story. There is something really gratifying about a person that must go full circle in their life to find the very thing that's been missing. And Grant Werther was the biggest, most worthy gorgeous beast of man to help her find it.
Quite a good romance. It was cute with just the right amount of drama, and the characters were all really well rounded. I loved the instant connection Grant had with Sasha and how his protective instincts immediately kicked in when she needed him. The chemistry between them is so hot! If you're looking for a romantic, steamy and easy read, this one's for you.
City girl Sasha comes back to her small town to sell the neglected farm her late mother left her. There she meets her childhood friend Grant, who's grown up to be a Big Man (in every physical way). Yowza. But Grant has inherited half her farm, so they must work together to get it ready to be sold. While working together, Grant and Sasha discover some white hot physical chemistry. But will this be a short-term fling (since Sasha has a career in NYC), or will Sasha realize that she's still a country girl at heart?
Plenty of steam in this one, and it's done right. Grant and Sasha have a history, so their getting together makes some sense. And boy are they hot together...
Lots of delicious dirty talk and dirty action to go with a decent plot and likable characters. This is how you do 'hot'! 5 stars
ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review
Fast easy read with a bit of drama. I loved how they cleaned the farm up (because we just bought a house and "cleaned" it up ourselves so it's nice to read about it and not need to do the work again ;) )
I really enjoyed it all, the scene of their first time together was also kind of weird at first them it became hot and of the charts.
I'm glad they could do it, but I'm also curious to what happened with Grants fathers farm? Because it was once mentioned but then not anymore so that made me wonder. I know it isn't really important, but I always wonder about those little thingy's.
It was definitely hot. Like really really HOT, especially in the beginning! Low on angst and drama, it was quite a sweet and fast read.
[I'm a bit confused about the length of the book though... Apparently it's around 300 pages, yet I did not need that much time to read it. Or I just become a much faster reader than I thought. I donno.]
Anyway, the time frame made me scratch my head a bit, because apparently EVERYTHING happened in only one week. They managed to work like horses every day, renovated the house, redone the garden, the fence and whatnot; also they had time for hot sex every night and woke up like at 5 am to work again like horses... So I guess they are some very fit individuals, because if that would have been me there, I would have died after three days of lack of sleep and not enough recovery time. But that's probably just me, week city girl.
I like Ms. Wylder's writing and it's not my first book by her, so I'll be definitely reading more.
I guess I can be okay with him marrying Sasha and everything.. I guess.
Big Man was a pretty quick read and a very heavy romance. I only disliked one thing and that was the way he would talk about his manhood, like all the god damn time. I get it Grant, you think it's huge and godly - I don't really care. But hey Sasha did and you two were basically perfect.
I loved the story and the flow throughout the entire book. I could totally see myself rereading this book as a guilty pleasure but I have no idea when I would. I loved everything about Sasha, she was just a very funny and independent woman. I loved her relationship that developed pretty quickly with Grant but then again they've had huge crushes on each other since birth.
I'm happy for their happy ending and I kind of wanted more? I'm glad I read this book and I will probably look into reading other books written by Penny Wylder.
This was a good book. It was really steamy, and I loved the whole “run away from the country and go back to honor her mothers final wishes” plot.
My biggest “I am so frustrated about this “ -moment was the lack of pace in the writing. Now don’t misunderstand me here. The writing was pretty damn good. But it was the same pace during the entire book. Light, sexy and hot. There was no time while reading this book where I was sitting on the edge of the seat. No time when I had to put the book down because it was too exciting. Too angsty. I would say this book is one of those “feel good” books. If you need something light and hot, this book is 100% gonna satisfy you.
A completely dirty addiction, Big Man is one of those naughty pleasures you read while hiding in the bathroom from your children just to recharge and feel like a woman. What? Am I the only one who does that? Anyway, this book! It is sexy and dirty. No pretense or flowers needed. Just straight to the…ummm…point!
Big Man was my first read by Ms. Wylder and I can promise it will not be my last. I love all genres, but this is one that I have been missing. Big Man is an easy read that will make you feel like a woman again. And if you are a crazy busy woman and/or momma, you know exactly what I mean. Big Man will leave you with dreams of XXL country men throwing you over a counter and…well…you get it.
Once I started, I couldn't stop. Beware! This is only HIGH ADDICTIVE read.
As my husband would say, “This author could market this for men. Trust me, any man would buy this for his wife. It’s well worth it.”
This is the perfect recharge read. And I am so happy to have been given the pleasure to read it.
5 Dirty, XXL stars!

Sasha receives a letter to deal with her mothers land a year after her passing. Sasha left years ago, never wanting to come back to the small town that held no place in her heart. Driving up she finds Grant Werther, she remembers him immediately as the boy who left her behind in lieu of his jock friends but he doesn't remember her, or does he?
Grant is disappointed that Sasha doesn't remember him, he wants the city girl but he knows not to act on it. However with the two of them working on the house they co-own together, spaces are tight and they are getting under each others skin. Will Sasha realize that small town life is better than she remembers especially if Grant is included in it?
Fun read. I think the whole premise was a little soft (they dont remember but they do) but the chemistry was through the roof. Liked Grant a lot, he is dirty and ruff and you cant get enough of his character. I was entertained through out.
I enjoyed this story. Sasha and Grant were best friends growing up, but grew apart after entering their teenage years. Sasha lives the small country town she grew up in, for college, wishing to leave behind the pain of her father leaving her mother and her to fend for themselves when she young. Years later she returns after her mother’s death, thinking she hates her former life, and intent on selling the family home and returning to the city. But the friendship and budding passion from years ago resurface when she finds Grant now owns half of her family home. Are they both now courageous enough to take that next step they should have taken years ago.
Big Man is one of those dirty pleasures that you crave because of the heat and the drama and just the dirty pleasure of it all. Sasha Bluebell left her small hometown long ago. Now she has come home to sale her mother’s home but that is going to be hard for there is another party involved. Her high school crush is part owner of the property. They used to be BFF but that changed years ago. She didn’t know that he was part owner until she came home and found out what her mom did. Grant likes the small town life and he is a simple man who likes simple pleasures. Sasha left town right after high school for grander things; she loves the big city life and the bright lights. When Sasha gets back home, she finds out that Grant’s father owns part of her farm which now falls to Grant. Sasha must run anything by him in regards to the home- She cant even make a repair without his ok. Their first couple interactions are quite chilly which is odd considering when they were younger they were quite friendly. Grant sees her as some good time girl from the big city and she sees him as some country male who is just simple..sexy but simple. There is this instant chemistry between this and wow there is tons of fireworks going off between them. They hide the fact they have feelings for one another. I loved the secondary characters in this read, along with the sexy, dirty and steamy read this turned out to be. The small town feel of this book didn’t hinder but helped this read along. I loved this romance and I can’t wait to read what is next for this author.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Sasha Bluebell left her small farming town and moved to the big city as soon as she was old enough to do so with no intention of ever returning.
When Sasha has to return 15 years later to prepare the house her mother left her for sale by fixing it up, she discovers that the house her mother left is also half owned by Sasha's once best friend an neighbour Grant Wherther.
Grant and Sasha had grown up together and neither saw each other again until Sasha's return
A frosty and icy relationship at first between them, City girl clashes with country boy but with the chemistry sizzling in the air things soon heat up between them.
Big Man is a hot and steamy read with a childhood friends to lover's plot.
With a similar feel to books written by Aria cole, Jenika Snow and Alexa Riley, fans of these authors will also love the hot steamy straight talking sex scenes in big man.
Penny Wylder is a guilty pleasure of mine. She writes short, super dirty stories that manage to be sexy and put a smile on your face. I can’t tell you how excited I was to read a longer story by her since I always want more from her stories. Big Man has the trademark dirty good time one comes to expect from Wylder, but in a bigger package.
Sasha is surprised to receive a letter on her 25th birthday telling her her mother left her land, the land she grew up on, with the request that she restore it to its former glory. When she arrives at the farm of her childhood she is in for a second surprise. Grant, a part of her childhood who is completely different now and impossible to ignore, has paperwork that shows his dad owns part of her farm. Anything she wants to do needs to be run by him. Sasha may be turned on by Grant’s muscles, but his opinion of her seems low. He thinks she’s nothing more than a City Girl who can’t hack farm life. She’s determined to prove him wrong and if some clothes come off in the process, surely that’s just the cost of making her mom’s final wish a reality.
This was a fun, sexy easy read that I enjoyed a lot. Perfect smutty escapist Romance.
Good romance story with funny characters and sexy scenes! Easy quick dirty reading, you can have fun while reading specially when Grant talk about his manhood! Hes is a big, grand, huge .... man! The dialogues between them, the relationship is in the start frosty but as you read both POV it becomes hotter every page... with a steamy finale!!!
Big Man by Penny Wylder is a full-length, stanalone, sexy, romance novel. Sasha Bluebell left her small hometown long ago. Now she´s back to sale her mother´s estate. But that´s easier said than done. There is a second party involved. Her highschool crush Grant Werther is part owner of the property. And now the fun begins. Both are like fire and water, but in secret long for each other. And now they´re forced to work together. Big Man is a entertaining read with the right amount of drama, love, hate and karma. I liked the writing, the story and the characters. I give 4,5 stars. Thank you, Penny Wylder.
I always love Penny Wylder’s books and this one is no different, it’s slightly longer than her usual stories and that’s not a complaint. It’s a sexy easy read that will cheer up any evening.
Sasha has been living in NYC as a freelance paralegal ever since she escaped her home town and all the bad memories she has of growing up there. It’s been a year since the death of her mother and the last time that she visited but after receiving a letter it’s time to put her mother’s affairs in order. She arrives at her childhood home to find Grant Werther the boy she knew long gone, and in his place a virile man who just so happens to co own her home. She still bitter about the way he abandoned their friendship when the went to high school, and feels like he left her behind to become one of the popular jocks.
Grant Werther has always wanted Sasha, he never thought that she’d return to the town she so desperately wanted to escape. When he thinks that she doesn’t remember him and their times together as children he’s disappointed but as they both co own the land and house he’s got time to help her remember and the chemistry jumping between them gives him the chance to show her that living in a small town isn’t as awful as she remembers.
These two characters were really fun, loved their bickering and they are both off the charts hot in the bedroom. Recommended read that will leave you smiling.
Totally a hot and steamy romance with loads of fun mixed in! Grant and Sasha together had some explosive chemistry. With their constant banter and sarcastic comments, the reader is kept entirely entertained. I was just a little disappointed, though, when there was no declaration of love between the two (unless I missed it). It just skipped months in advance and they’re together permanently. That’s my only complaint. Have to read me some more of Ms. Penny Wylder...
This not that short smutty read was unoriginal and formulaic. Country Boy and City Girl were childhood friends who "forgot" eachother and end up working together in forced circumstances because of a shared inheritance (kinda). They are oh so hot for eachother and go through almost no issues to end up together. In this case the author could not add anything particularly spicy, original or specially cute to the story. Better pick something else if you feel like something more fun, a tad more complex or whatever.
This book was really fun and fast to read. I will admit at first I was confused because the blurb says she's 25 but the book says she left at 18 and has been gone for 15 years, so that would make the characters in their 30's. Anyway the story was cute and it flowed well, so it's definitely worth reading.
Style: Small Town Romance Story: 3/5 Sexual: SEX-CITINGLY GOOD Enjoyment:3/5 Series:
3.5 stars
This was, sweet, mix with a little naughty and I like it. Grant, was big, sweet hardworking all the above for a small town guy. Sasha, funny, grew up country, but she is so city.
I love that this is a second chance romance, and we get to see these two rebuild with the other thinking when they were younger, they weren’t interested. Small town thing kind of scare me a bit when it's too sweet. Sweet is good but need my serving of romance with a bit of dirty and that the author did. The only thing that annoyed me was the amount of times they said CITY GIRL omg, it drove me crazy. I need to know the word count on that.
Overall, a nice read, not bad but not great.
***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s definitely about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the stories you read. I hope this review was helpful.
This book rounded out my Penny Wylder binge. I am definitely a new fan of her style of alpha, OTT, smutty reads. Can you return to your home town? More importantly can you handle the man your best friend has become?? Plenty of heat and a dash of sweet.
I’m not gonna lie.... I totally decided to read this book based on two reasons. Reason 1 - Penny Wylder has written some hot AF novellas so why wouldn’t I want to see her stretch that out into a full length novel? Reason 2 - THE COVER. Jesus.....
This book is about Sasha who is forced to return to her small town after being away and living in NYC for the last fifteen years. Her mother died and she needs to go home and get her childhood home ready for sale. Grant is the H. He is at her mom’s farm when she pulls in. Turns out his dad purchase half the farm and has now passed, so grant now owns half. he knew Sasha when they were little but they both act like they don’t remember eachother. They are forced to work together to get the farm ready for sale and they forced close proximity leads to them acting on their attraction.
After a rocky start, Grant, for his part, works to show Sasha what small town life is like, trying to remind her of the life she once had and that she’s a country girl at heart. He takes her out, protects her from the locals who turn their nose at her and shows her what this quiet life really is all about and how it’s always been a part of her. And the sex? Explosive. No surprise, considering the author. She definitely did not disappoint.
Ok, now here’s the stuff that irked me. First off, the blurb says Sasha is 25 when she gets called back home. But immediately in the book, it states that she ran from home as soon as she could by applying to out of state colleges and has been gone for 15 years. That puts her in the 30’s.... so that inconsistency irks me. Next I’ll put under spoiler so as not to ruin some parts of the story.
Phew... ok done. Now despite those points that irked me, I still enjoyed the story. It’s like a second chance (my ultimate fav) but for characters who never actually took their first chance. It’s a small town romance for two people who have known eachother since childhood and they finally get their HEA. Those things I love and I do enjoy Penny’s stories.
It's not you book, It's me. I just wasn't in the right mood for this. Big country, grizzly guy sounds just my thing normally, but the vibe just wasn't there for me. It's the classic city girl in the countryside trophe but it just fell a bit flat for me.
So we have Grant, the big country guy who has secretly loved the h from childhood. He thinks she has forgotten him, turned her nose up at her roots and come back all hoity-toity.
Then we have hoity-toity Sasha who is desperately glad she escaped her small town roots and thinks Grant has forgotten her. The two of course, don't really communicate the fact that they do really remember each other and embark on a haters-to-lovers thing.
The book was pretty hot I admit but it kind of felt a bit quick. I never felt like the two had much meaningful dialogue. I wanted to feel their connection. The only thing they seemed to connect over was the hero's huge dick.
I think it a little weird that the hero mentions his big dick repeatedly. I mean a little bit of self-effacing modesty would not go a miss here.
Sasha arrived in the countryside in high heels even though she was brought up in the countryside. She's been away for seven years admittedly, but I think most of us would remember our stout shoes. She hires a Porsche because, hey, that's an easy way to blend in and she often mentions her branded clothes. Ack, I am just not into expensive name-dropping. It's not my thing. I kind of didn't like Sasha. The storyline felt a bit old-fashioned, like she was going to turn into Daisy Duke at any minute and started eating taffy. And the couple seemed to speak in cliches.
This has had some high reviews from GR friends though, so I think I am just not in the right mood for this. So I have parked it for now.
Returning home to her roots was never in Sasha’s plan, trust a parent to know which strings to pull to achieve that goal. Sasha returns to the small country town she grew up in and is forced into the unlikeliest of partnerships. Grant Werther is a hard working, simple man who truly believes it is better to live in the country than it is to live in the city. And he is the reason this book is called Big Man and oh help me, is he a big boy!
‘His biceps are as thick as my thigh, and I can’t help thinking, as I watch him lift and ready the axe to swing, how easily he could toss me around a bedroom’
Big Man is a second chance romance about two people who knew each other in childhood, and who never could get over the fears and anxiety of telling one another how they feel.
‘ “You’re exactly the same girl you used to be”, he said. How can I be? I’ve run as far from her as I possibly can.’ ‘I knew him again the moment I saw him. I’m still the girl I used to be--and he’s still the boy he was too.’
Big Man is pure decadence, it’s a meal consisting only of desserts. Grant Werther is sex incarnate. A male popsicle I’d gladly run away and not be willing to share. This is such a stunningly hot read with so many sweet parts that I’ll be sure to brush my teeth after reading this one, I don’t need anymore cavities! The most touching aspect of this book was the description of small town living and how the residents can be, both the good and the bad points.
