I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book is a billionaire contemporary romance. It has to be one of the shortest books I have read but it is jam packed with drama!

It written in 1st person. With dual pov.

The story starts out with Maya receiving a call from billionaire Conrad, about a job opening at his consulting firm. Maya interviews for the job and she and Conrad have an immediate connection and she is hired on the spot. She soon finds out that he is different than any other man she has met. He looks at the world as a game. He feels very little empathy and emotion. He mentions that he does not really know what happiness is and he has never felt love before. In my opinion, Conrad is made out to be as either a psychopath or a robot. Because the book is so short and Conrad's dialogue is very limited, his character is very undeveloped. He has certain aspects of his character that makes him intriguing and mysterious, but overall he comes off as being very one dimensional.

As for Maya's character, she is very strong and determined, but she instantly melts into Conrad's arms. This is very cliche and I wish she would have stood up to him more and actually asked him the purpose of her job! That part blows my mind! It's very unrealistic for someone to apply and interview for a job and not know what job it is.

The smut in this book was great and I loved Maya and Conrad's intimacy. I also really liked that plot twist in the end. I just really wished the story about Conrad and the female cop was explained more. That would have made the ending more exciting.

Overall, I think this book would have been a 5 star if it was longer and more details were added. The characters need to be further developed as well as some plot details. But the drama and intimacy between the main characters was very well written.

3 "So here's what I want to do." Stars

This story from Cassandra Bloom was the first I've heard and read of her work. What the title indicates is true - a bad boy billionaire boss romance. It encapsulates all of those things with the added bonus of the necessary snarky yet pliant heroine. I read it mostly in one setting and felt entertained the entire time. Told from dual first person points of view readers get to see a clearer view of what's going on in the story but Bloom still manages to surprise us. Her knack for writing quirky heroines and perfectly bossy heroes lends itself favorably for romance lovers. Her hook from beginning to end is good writing accompanied by the interesting characters. The book is more a novella as it's short but packs a punch. I wish it were a little longer and some of the scenarios fleshed out better with some added details. The groundwork was laid nicely for a more in depth type of romance. But with passion, comedy, things you'll never see coming, and likable characters Captive will hold your attention until the end.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.
I guess this just wasn’t for me. The plot was extremely fast paced. Half the time the story just kept going over my head. The characters lacked depth. If it wasn’t for the chapter heading POVs, you wouldn’t even know the name of the heroine until much later in the book.
The writing just didn’t do it for me. I’m more of an eye for detail girl.

Arc provided by author for honest review. I have to say I was really impressed by this book and author. When Cassandra approached me to read. As usual I always nervous and sometimes hesitant cause I don't sugar coat my reviews. I tell the truth. And Captive was damn good, I found it short but story like plot were so very interesting. I actally can't wait to read more from her.

Captive by Cassandra Bloom a five-star read that will not let you go. Conrad Storm is a man with a storm in his soul. He’s built his business figuring out what other people want and proving his way of thinking is the right way of thinking. Will two weeks in a cabin for his latest experiment be enough to prove his latest theory? Or will fate throw to many roadblocks at them. Maya was a woman who has her own mind and I loved that about her, the people Conrad has worked with previously all fell into certain patterns but Maya isn’t one follow the rules and will it throw a spanner in the works, or lead fate in the correct direction, helping it overcome the roadblocks instead of being re-directed. If you are after a great short read that will surprise you in more ways than you can imagine, pick this one up.

3 Captive stars!

Book kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Billionaires, bad boys and alpha jerks are my kryptonite. I love to live their stories and see their asshole-ness in action.

Yep...guilty as charged.

description

I must admit that I had some difficulties understanding Conard's personality. The things he felt for Maya confused the hell out of me, even the reasons he gave for calling her in the first place were unconvincing and weird.

I couldn't place this story.

description

I didn't know if the thing between Maya and Conard was insta-love or insta-lust because they went at it like there would be no tomorrow. I didn't even know when things started to feel real.

I really want to say that it's not the book, it's me but then I would be lying because I couldn't for the life of me connect with the characters or understand what was going on.

"Intriguing, Seductive, Unexpected! Captive will dominate your mind in many ways possible."

" I received a complimentary copy of this book and have volunteered to leave a review."

Who says that someone can be captured only by an other person? We also are prisoners of ourselves! The limits we set, the rules we enforce to ourselves; our fear to open up and being exposed are what keep us captives and don't let us live the life we deserve. But do all these worth this cost?

This is the first book I read by the author and I'm very happy and pleased by the way I earned the chance to read it. Also, I feel grateful because this invitation helped me meet this amazing writer, who is so closed to my reading tastes. Captive isn't a story similar with the others. While it is a romance book the romantic atmosphere isn't its main goal. What Captive aims to deliver is the idea of being in love first by the mind and then by the heart. It's an inside-out strategy but a very interesting one with an unexpected end.

Maya at her 25 years old is popular from her debate videos about various experiments involving game theories and how they could be used to others. She is a brilliant woman. She loves challenges especially the ones that involve mind-handling. When Maya receives an invitation for a job by the billionaire Conrad Storm she knew it wouldn't be anything plain. She knew his games and she was ready to play along as long as she wins something back. It was a sight to watch Maya! Her smartness infrond of Conrad, her spontaneous moves at times, her inner thoughts and decisions, had managed to captive Conrad into his own game without him even noticing. However, putting standards isn't always a good way of seeing things and Maya learned that detail fast enough.

I don't know if there is anything else to add up about Conrad Storm than what the synopsis already says. Maybe that there are more than meets the eye. He's mysterious and thrifty about the assistant job he requested from Maya to accept. It's one of his experiments, he said. One that only Maya fits the requirements and he feels delighted when she accepted the challenge; and more satisfied by his certain choice than ever before. I found Conrad's attitude very intriguing. He planned everything in details and he played his game masterfully infrond of Maya. He didn't reveal much about the effects she had on him yet it was palpable that something else ignited his interest about her in the first place. A feeling that even himself didn't understand completely.

Mind games or not, Captive has the perfect title for this book! While it is a short story, it had the power to surface a lot of mixed feelings from me. Intrigued, confused, delighted or even hooked by a certain scene are few of these feelings. I loved the unlike the others theme the author adopts for her story. It's by itself a very interesting one. Also, I liked her indescribable writing skills that helped the upgradation of the story while it was unfolded. I was transfixed by it while it was slowly revealed everything. Captive is a fast-paced book, with the right amount of unexpected turns and actions that I enjoyed reading and be full consumed by them. What I didn't found relative, tho, is the cover of the book. I believe Captive deserves a cover that hinds some mystery. It's one of the books I totally recommend you to read.

I hope I intrigue your imagination and made you grab the book yourselves and find out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself.

Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

I read this book as an ARC for an honest review.
Conrad Storm is billionaire playboy who has it all but can't help but feel like he is missing something. He has wealth and success but he doesnt have happiness. So he decides to create an experiment or game if you will. He has one woman whom he has researched and decided he wants to participate.
Maya recieved a message from Storm and Thorston about interviewing for a position. One she knew nothing about. It listed a date and time. She decides to go and has a bizarre experience when she gets there to his receptionists desk. As Maya is in the elevator going to the CEO, Conrad's office she thinks of his latest scandal. Conrad was pulled over for speeding and the female cop, Cindy proceeded to get into the vehicle and make out with him for a while. Another officer stopped to see if she needed backup and discovered what she was doing. She was crazy and also now under investigation with the police department. Upon reaching Conrad's office she finds that he is even more attractive than on camera. It turns out Conrad he wants her to help him write a book about relationships and love. He has seen her debates and loves her strong personality. He feels she is the only one that could give him feedback, challenge him and also point out faults so to speak. He presents it as an experiment and she agrees to be apart although still not understanding fully.
After a few sexy encounters and a trick that Maya plays on Conrad they start a little tit for tat. Conrad introduces the next phase of the experiment. It is not at all what Maya expected. He wants to see if they can fall in love in 2 weeks while staying in the cabin together. After getting clarity and realizing that she isn't a pawn and that Conrad had watched all of her debates, which was 100's of hours of video, she realizes that he feels they could truly be a perfect match. And she agrees to the experiment. Will they fall in love?
This was a great book. It was short but I liked the mystery of not knowing what Conrad wanted. I loved Maya because she was strong and opinionated. She spoke her mind and played the game with Conrad. This was super steamy and sexy.

Honestly I barely started the book before I gave up. This is unfair to the Author so I will not put any stars. The first few pages I find that the narration is talking in circles. There’s a distraction with either details or shoved in comments, that takes away from the story very quickly. This book just wasn’t for me.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this highly entertaining book from Cassandra Bloom. Conrad Storm is a billionaire with his own consulting firm and he's a womanizer. He offers Maya a job as his assistant but the details are somewhat vague. Maya posts debate videos on YouTube and Conrad has watched all 100 hours of them. He believes they could be a perfect match and wants to spend two weeks with her in his remote cabin to see if it's possible for them to fall in love. Maya is a very independent, intelligent woman who is strong and opinionated and not afraid to set Conrad straight. This was definitely a read in one sitting book with a lot of twists.

What do you do when an author emails you a copy of her book but you don't really like it?

It took me a while to write my review because I really wanted to like it and be able to write something nice about it however I am really just not feeling it. It started out so confusing and Conrad's actions just confused me more. Maya's reaction to the job and everything else also did not seem very believable to me. Maybe this was just not my cup of tea. It is a quick read and can be finished in a day or 2. I will try and read another one of the authors books though.

I have a good time reading this book by Cassandra Bloom. Captive is a fast-paced story that will get you hooked once you started reading it. Witty banter and sexy times between Conrad and Maya are something I really enjoyed. The unexpected twist towards the end makes it more exciting! Conrad got his answer to his game. This is my first book by this author and I'm looking forward to reading more of her works in days to come.

I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through arc.

Maya goes on an interview to work for this gorgeous billionaire that has quite a reputation for the ladies.

Conrad hired Maya basically to spar with him and tell him whether right or wrong. He told her he has watched all her lecture videos online and he liked her style. He wants to write a book about relationships and what love , happiness is like even though he had no idea how it felt.

Meanwhile his one time fling with a cop is a collision course waiting to happen. She is a little crazy and wanted to go after him as another cop found them in a comprised position and her job was on the line.

Conrad was in his office with Maya and as they are talking he came over to kiss her which took her by surprised then continued talking and she couldn't stand it anymore so she went over and kissed him.

They go to the restaurant for lunch to talk about his experiment. He tells her to take some notes. She tells him she was going to the restroom. He couldn't believe it would take so long until his friend
Tells him she left and when he looks down at her notes was only a kiss. When he gets back to the office he asks Zima if Maya came back to work. Zima tells him that she wanted to work from home.

The next day Maya comes back and he tells her to leave and be back at 9:00 pm and to take some clothes with her. Conrad has a surprise for her they are taking his chopper to a remote area in the mountains to his cabin. She was taken back at to how the cabin looked it was very well maintained..

Conrad and Maya get busy with each other and then he tells her why they are there. He wants to see if they could fall in love over the next two weeks which was part of the experiment. Angela her best friend is asked to come and spend the night at the cabin. When Angela gets there Maya told her that she want to take a nap. That's when Angela interrogates Conrad she tells him that if he hurts Maya that she will kill him.

Maya couldn't sleep so she gets up to go downstairs and notices someone is coming in the window with a gun and she realizes that it's the crazy woman cop. She tells her that Conrad is downstairs and she pushes Maya to walk down the steps. Conrad looks up and notices the crazy cop with a gun pointed at Maya's head.

There is a lot of commotion and the gun goes off does Maya get shot ? Does Angela or Conrad get shot? Guess you will have to read the book.

This book was AMAZING! I love the characters and how relatable they are. Conrad is a billionaire playboy, who is constantly running experiments and trying to read people. Maya makes videos about debatable topics on YouTube. When Maya gets a mysterious text to go in for a job interview, she meets the notorious Conrad. They conduct their own special experiment and it was great! It was a totally different book and I'm blown away. It's not everyday you read a book that leaves you wanting more. And I WANT MORE! The scenes were steamy🔥🔥 and it kept you guessing. Sometimes love comes when you least expect it. Im really hoping for an epilogue or another book. I would love to see what happens next. I absolutely LOVED this book! I highly recommend it.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was captivated from page one and couldn’t put this one down. I had to know how this relationship was going to work out.

Conrad has to all, except the girl and he is looking for someone special. Someone that will challenge him and not just want him for his money and he has found her on YouTube. He decides to meet her through alternative methods and he hires her for the job. To Maya he is mysterious and she is unsure about it all but she is always up for the challenge.

Cassandra Bloom does it again. What an amazing fast paced story. I loved how Maya and Conrad together. They have such amazing chemistry that is so hot and strong. Conrad has this off the wall god personality that just stands out. Maya is so independently strong willed she just stands out in the book. The banter between the two of them is so sweet and at times funny. It is amazingly written and the flow of the story is superb. This is definitely worth reading and it won’t disappoint. I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through arc.

Maya looking for a job, lands an interview with 'the' gorgeous billionaire, who is kind of a player.
Conrad, in the heat of the moment, hired Maya to spar with him, tell him whether right or wrong. He told her he likes her style and that he wants to write a book about relationships - love , happiness is like .
While in his office and during a talk, he comes over and kiss her, by surprised then continued talking. When she couldn't stand it anymore she went over and kissed him.
They go to the restaurant for lunch to talk about his experiment : He tells her to take some notes. This bathroom internetzo is taking some time, he's still waiting for her until his
friend tells "she left". Back to his office, his 1st reaction is to asks Zima if Maya came back. Zima tells him that she wanted to work from home.
Next day Maya comes back and he orders her to leave and be back at 9:00 pm, with some clothes. As surprise he takes her to his chopper to go somewhere in the mountains. He tells her why they are there : his experiment ! Could they fall in love in 2 weeks.
Angela her bf is invited to spend the night at the cabin. While Maya take a nap, it's show time for Angela !!! She interrogates Conrad, tells him that if he hurts Maya, she will kill him.
When Maya can't sleep go downstairs, she notices someone coming to window with a gun. Realizes that it's the crazy woman cop, who had a one-time fling with Conrad.
She pushes Maya toward the basement, Conrad looks up and notices the gun pointed at Maya's head.

The gun goes off, does Maya get shot ? Does Angela or Conrad get shot? Do they fall in Love in those 2 weeks ?

Quick, steamy and full of action !

I liked Maya, our heroine in the story, as she's feisty, intelligent, witty, sassy, won't take no nonsense from anyone and believes in herself. Then we have Conrad, a very successful multi billionaire, who is a womanising playboy who uses women for his pleasure but he isn't always wise in his choice of bedmate! He wants to prove that two people who are attracted to each other sexually can fall in love in 2 weeks and he advertises a job specification but it doesn't really specify the details of the post, just that it's to be his PA and work on a book with him. He has done his research and watched all of Maya's YouTube videos and knows she is the one he wants. It's as if he wants to find love but hasn't been going about it the right way before with his womanising. I also liked that Maya wasn't just going to let Conrad do what he wanted without making some effort and have to work to charm her. He makes grand gestures like sweeping her off her feet and taking her in his personal helicopter to a rather nice cabin in the woods to get her full attention. But this isn't just a love story by Cassandra Bloom! Oh NO! there is mystery, tension, fear and a crazed person with a gun who is ready to use it to get what they want! This extra part to the story really spices it up and makes it a real page turner and one that I will want to re-read in the future. Cassandra is a terrific author and , if you haven't read any of her books before, then you should try this one and then there is a wonderful selection of her stories to choose from. Enjoy!! I received an arc of this book and voluntarily leave my honest review of it here.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED.

Short and hot. This is the story of Conrad and Maya. Conrad owns a consulting firm and is interested in hiring Maya. When she interviews for the job, Conrad finds himself in instant lust and is determined to have her. Conrad was a quite a different ad unique character. He was a sweet psychopath; and his sweetness is ONLY directed at Maya. Maya is too soft for my taste. I dislike that she just accepted whatever Conrad said or did. I needed a bit more back bone from her. She decided to take the job with Conrad but we never did find out what her job was. She seemed to be there just for Conrad’s desires. This does fit with what a psychopath would be like with his love. It was a different read but it worked well.

As with all of this author’s stories, the reader is thrown into the story fast without much development. This story felt like the middle section of a larger story; though it did work for the most part. The story is short so there are places where it would have benefited the reader to have more details. What we did get was a fun little read. The plot was fun and interesting to read; the ending could have been amazing but it was a bit soft. Had the twist at the end been better explained with more details this story would have been markedly enhanced. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review.

Whoa. So I totally didn’t see this unique read coming. I saw a hot sexy guy on the cover. I didn’t realize how intelligent he was (okay, so that wasn’t very enlightened of me…I bet I wasn’t the only one). Conrad is rich, um…yeah, chiseled, and incredibly adept at reading people. So much so that he’s pretty much bored with all of them, especially women who only want him for his wallet and his…muscles. He needs someone to challenge him, and he believes he’s found just what he needs in Maya. She’s smart, tough, beautiful, and doesn’t take nonsense from anyone.

Conrad and Maya are enticingly rich characters, intellectually and emotionally on an even playing field, although only Conrad knows the rules to this game. Their sexual tension is absolutely combustible, just begging for a stray spark. There is a beauty in their openness to each other once they reach a certain point in their relationship. In fact, I found myself fascinated by their entire journey and simply couldn’t turn those electronic pages fast enough.

Although I loved the book as a whole, I felt that the ending begged for an epilogue to tie up a few loose ends. Don’t worry… no spoilers here. The ending was good, just a bit abrupt for my personal taste.

Readers will find mature language and sizzling love scenes throughout this engaging read.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I give Captive 5 stars for providing me with some romance, some steamy scenes, a bit of mystery and a great story that was fun to read.

Cassandra Bloom has created another great easy read. A fun story that has a few twists and turns that you won’t see coming.

Maya accepts Conrad’s job as his assistant to help him with his research. They are about to learn a lot about each other. And this just might be the hottest laboratory in the history of science, his cabin. And the outcome is?

Maya was at home when her phone buzzed with a text saying they were interested in interviewing her for a position at Storm and Thorston. She was provided an address and a time, and that was all. What was in store for her?

Conrad Storm has an insatiable appetite for women, and games. The moment he saw Maya, he knew he had to make her his. He never thought that he could match with a woman, that is until Maya. Is he correct?

Captive is a contemporary romance novella. Its about finding the person that gets you...the one that you are compatible with...that you’d lay down your life for. A quick easy read.

I loved this story.

I GIVE IT 4.5 STARS!

"Captive" by Cassandra Bloom is a short read and it follows Conrad and Maya (it's a dual POV). Conrad is a billionaire who loves games and enjoys women although it seems women to him are predictable and he wants more. Conrad is conducting an experiment on and he choose Maya to help him. In the beginning was pretty suspenseful because you don't really know what Conrad is doing/ expecting from Maya, so like her I was trying to figure out what Conrad was trying accomplish. Plus they are both clearly attracted to one another I honestly thought it was a pretty good story line it was pretty interesting and there's no uncalled for drama(which is always great). The only concern I had with the book was that the ending. I felt that it was cut to short and rushed. I felt that it could have turn out better if there had been more to it; other than that it was pretty book but I was left wanting more from the ending. Overall it short, nice, easy read definitely enjoyed it.

Maya goes in to interview for a job with this billionaire however she has no clue what the job is. Conrad is a playboy and what he is really for is someone to tell him when he was doing or saying something wrong. He liked how he felt when talking with Maya. He wants to write a book about relationships and wants Maya to help him. He wants to explore things with Maya so they can see what works for their book. Conrad sweeps Maya away to his secluded cabin in the mountains because he wants to see if they can fall in love with each with no distractions just each other for two weeks. Just as Conrad is looking for more from someone than one night things get crazy as someone from his past threatens his future with Maya. Can Maya overlook Conrad's past to see a future with him.

This was a great story I couldn't put it down once I started. The story was well written and even had a twist you don't really see coming from Conrad's past. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for more by this author. If you haven't read anything by her this would be a great start.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I have to say Cassandra did a uniquely GREAT job on this book. I love the suspense it had the entire time you read it. Each page keep you turning the page to see what would be revealed next. I love Conrad’s “book research”. I loved his need to have the upper hand but did it with out all the brooding of most billionaire playboy bosses we read about. He is a hottie but miss understood and used by so many he lost the ability to see people as real or truthful be cause most weren’t. If he hadn’t found Maya’s on YouTube who know if their paths would have crossed but Conrad saw his perfect match he just didn’t trust himself to trust what he felt for an unknown girl he saw in a video. So his experiment/game began. Lust is a real feeling but temporary to most love and lust can go together when it right. Cassandra came up with. Unique way to change what we normally read in these books. I have to say I wasn’t ready for this book to end because her writing style and storyline had me wanting more! Thank you for the chance to give an ARC review!!!

Quirky and unexpected...

This was a rather quirky short story about a jaded billionaire and a smart woman who he employs as his assistant... the premise is original and took me by surprise... there is a helping of instalust but on the whole this is more about mind games and relationship exploration than a short sexy romance..

The main characters take turns to narrate their version of events... Maya is a smart, independant woman and I was not wholly convinced that she would have been so easily pulled into Conrad’s world..... Conrad is a difficult character to understand and his persona lacked warmth.... he is labelled a playboy but I did not get that confident, sexual vibe from him....

In a way this was a difficult book to review because it was so different; it was certainly well written and it kept me guessing but on occasions I found myself questioning whether I was invested in the characters enough to care about the outcome of their story....this is a new to me author and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.. I received an advanced copy of this novella from the author....

This is my first book by Cassandra Bloom, but it isn't going to be my last! I loved the honesty in this story. I have read a lot of billionaire romances, and they all have the bossy rich boss and the naive young girl he seduces, but this one was so much more. Yes, Conrad is rich, and yes, he does plan on seducing Maya, but that is where the similarities ended. The reasons Conrad has for going after Maya are both funny and brilliant. There romance doesn't take a very conventional path. I loved that both Conrad and Maya are smart, independent, and so love-able. Maya brings most of the feels to the story. Conrad adds the humor, and TONS OF HEAT. There is a lot of sexiness in this story. There is also a lot of sexual tension, which I think added to the romance. The chemistry between Conrad and Maya is instant and extra hot! The story line is enjoyable, and like I already said, Maya is easy to care about. I was swept up in this one very quickly. I found myself feeling anger at some of the things the characters did, I felt hope, passion, and I laughed. Everything about this short story was enjoyable, and I think it would make the perfect Rom-Com!
