Tony Santoro has lived a life that most wouldn't want to live. From being former military and watching his best friends killed, to officer saving his partner from unpleasantries, all the way to enforcer beating up people for the "greater good". Feeling there is no end in his horrendous job cycle, after a busy gone wrong, Tony goes off the grid....until found by Phoenix Agency owner Dan Romeo and propositioned for a job he would be perfectly suited for.
Ronnie Cardenas wants to make her ability that has been kind of a burden her whole life work for the good of humanity. Going undercover with the mob to try to find the secret cure that she oh so desperately needs to make a name for herself. As soon as she sees Antonio (Tony), her senses go haywire and she knows something is off. But finding out how off his "enforcer" job really is is the fun part.....
These two were like oil and vinegar from the beginning. Not knowing that the other was undercover was interesting...knowing they were both working towards the same goal, with no idea the other was there, really added to the suspense. Their initial encounters weren't exactly the most pleasent, but I still felt the underlying attraction and heat between the two. Realizing that Tony had so many layers to get through, watching Ronnie slowly peel that onion was a real treat. I am in LOVE with the Phoenix Agency world and am so excited to read more!!

Bare Deception by Tracy Tappan was just as I expected. This book has it all, suspense, romance, sex and lots of drama. I loved all the characters and the author did an excellent job with character development, not only with Tony and Ronnie, but also with a few of the behind the scenes players from other in this series. I just wish the book was longer. I love the Phoenix Agency books and can’t wait to read more!!

Take one DEA Agent who loses his partner and then quits his job and then starts working for the Phoenix Agency. Take one physical therapist who turns out to be a little more than that. Add these two to a Italian Cartel who has a scientific cure for Leukemia for sale to the highest bidder. Add all this together, mix well and what do you get? Another marvelous adventure journey by the incomparable Tracy Tappan. What else could you want??

Love. Intense book that contains nonstop drama, action, and heart pounding "Oh God " moments. Reads like a full book, just more condensed and specific. It was great to see what finally happens with those secondary (but not expendable:) characters you are introduced to in Ms. Tappan's other books-and a sneak peak at some old characters too. Books by Tracy Tappan are always a insta-click for me. Well worth it to add to my collection-which is why I am leaving a review!

My first read by Tracy Tappan and what a suspenseful, action packed, sizzling hot read it was! I loved Tony and Ronnie and the development of their relationship. These two sizzled together! A total twist I wasn't expecting at the end added even more drama to the story and I loved that Tony and Ronnie got their HEA. Look forward to reading more books by this author.

Another gripping read by Tracy Tappan
Wow wow wow. 5 stars easily. Love this book - another gripping read by Tracy. My only gripe was that it ended. Cant wait for more from her andcwill enjoy the series.

Great story
As always, Tracy Tappan delivers a great story. Although it's a short novella, the story is deep and the characters are fleshed out.

“Bare Deception” by Tracy Tappan is part of the Kindle World ‘Phoenix Agency’ series and features Phoenix agent Tony Santoro who is undercover and trying to retrieve a vital formula only to discover there is another agent working her wiles to achieve the same goal. Ronnie Cardenas is a newbie agent who is also undercover, but her psychic talent as a Truth Extractor may not be enough to complete the mission. The two reluctant allies must fight their sizzling attraction and focus on the goal, otherwise they may both be discovered and terminated.
This adult contemporary paranormal romance is a fun addition to an intriguing series, combining suspense, romance, and psychic phenomena. I was tickled to see that this story ties in with one of this talented author’s exciting military romances because it is always like seeing old friends when they cameo in a new story. Psychic abilities are always a draw for me, and I enjoyed the concept but I wasn’t totally convinced by the heroine’s facility with her talent even though she does redeem herself. The heat sizzles between the main characters and there are fun caricatures of the bad guys plus some hair-raising adventures that keep the action going. I think that the constraints of the novella length hampered some of the character development and I hope there will be a longer story in these folks’ future. This was a fun quick romp and I look forward to meeting more Phoenix agents and the psychics who change their world.
