Some decent nuggets of advice and words of wisdom, but a few things bothered me. Despite the title, the assumption clearly was that the spouse was a woman with children moving for her husband’s job; I feel like “A guide to life as an expat wife and mother” would have been a more apt title. I suppose while even today a large number of expat spouses would fit this description, I feel like there was definitely room to be more inclusive. Maybe partly because of this, sometimes this book almost felt like a 1950’s housewife manual, sometimes so much so that I actually cringed a couple of times while reading it.
