Four great Western adventures from the number one bestselling Western author in America! Ride along with outlaws, bandits and bounty hunters— and watch them all learn right from wrong… the hard way!
Last night I dreamed I went to Hillbilly Heaven. And you know who greeted me at the gate? The ole cowboy-philosopher himself, Will Rogers. He said to me, he said "C. Wayne, the Big Boss of the riders up here has asked me to kinda show you around. Now, over yonder are a couple of your ole compadres but don’t forget to check the library. You’ll find great tales of our times in that library…”
I visited the library and found myself reading some of the great tales from those golden cowboys and when I woke up I was sorry I did because I wanted to stay there forever reading those stories. To sooth my aching bones I sat down and tried to remember those words and here are the result—four stories that I hope you will all enjoy.
Ride along with four of my best Western tales… “Down The Long Trail,” “Yancey’s Ride,” “Tess’s Trials” and “One Last Chance.” I have been blessed with these books—all four of them have pleased readers the world over and now I hope they will please you too.
Unfortunately, I had already read these novels individually but the re-read was worth the time and effort. Never read a no do by Mr. Winkle that wasn't worthy of another trip down memory lane. These four novels are probably some of his best, and I have read most of his stories, never found any of them that didn't meet my every expectations. Great author of out old American folklore!
No problem awarding five stars to these great western adventures, as they are all full of never ending gunfights and very creative episodes of realistic western folklore. Mr. Winkle is certainly impressive with his character selections throughout these very endearing episodes of realistic western conflicts. He definitely did his research before penning his first word on any of these stories. I had no problem following each individual story, as they are so fulfilling and every storyline is so compelling, yet easy to follow. No problem recommending these stories, since each and every one stands alone, and they are so well written that they will maintain keep you undivided attention from beginning to end. Certainly can't beat the price for four magnificently written masterpieces.
Old geezer hero massacres multiple adversaries that include his own granddaughter. The ending is as lame as spavined bronc with the evil banker pulling the final trigger. The real star of this improbable pile of horse apples is the Schofield revolver which was actually a 45 not a 44. Other s&w such as the model 3 were chambered in 44.
It is excellent to find a writer that not only writes a great tale with some depth to it but who also makes very few grammar errors. At least he doesn't let them get into "print". Thank you Mr. Winkle.
