Corrupting Chris takes place circa 2011 and is a prequel to the Five Boroughs series.
Christopher Mendez has long since accepted his role in his squad of gorgeous friends. He’s the short one. The funny one. The one who gets called “cute” and “sweet” before girls bypass him to check out his taller and sexier friends. His lack of game has become a running joke. He doesn’t mind. Not really. But his hands are starting to get boring and flying solo is getting old.
Enter Stephanie Quinones and Raymond Rodriguez—stage left. They adore Chris in every way, and they’ve made a pact to get him naked. Together. No strings, no romantic feelings—just three lifelong friends getting dirty on a hot summer day. Their usual routine of video games and trash TV is fun, but corrupting Chris? Even better.
Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family but grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into a grumpy introvert and unlikely romance author with an affinity for baseball caps. His novels are heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, and his desire to write relationships fueled by intensity and passion.
He’s been a finalist in both the Bisexual Book Awards and the EPIC Awards, and was nominated for a prestigious RITA award in 2017. His work has been featured in BuzzFeed, Huffington Post, Washington Post, RT Magazine, and Cosmopolitan Magazine.
Chris, Stephanie and Raymond have been friends forever, but hosting his two friends turned a couple is not exactly high on Chris' todo list. Or so he tells himself, when he's not busy secretly ogling Steph and Ray's hot and heavy makeout sessions.
Luckily for Chris, Steph's very observant in all things sex, and her friend's longing looks have not escaped her eagle eye. And she's using all her viles to ambush both of her friends with a no strings attached threesome. She succedes. The End.
I have this vaguely OCD-like need to read books in chronological order, even though on occasion this could very well spoil quite a bit from the "main" story. This didn't happen here, but I also wasn't really invested in whether or not the three would get together.
Score: 2/5 stars
The sex was definitely hot and well-written, even if rather tame compared to the more dubious fanfiction I've consumed over the years. That said, I didn't feel much of anything for any of the characters.
I already adored Raymond and Chris. It's a great addition to the series. Chris was corrupted pretty easily. Well it's Raymond!! Who in his right mind would refuse to join a threesome with Raymond AND Steph?!
Short, sexy, amazingly written. One word: Santino. I'd read anything this man writes!
I noticed Santino Hassell several times on GR and now when I am in my gay reading phase I wanted to start with series Five Boroughs. This pre-sequel was downloaded for free and I am glad, because later I noticed some reviews were removed and there was something going on with this author regarding lying about health issues and taking money under false pretenses.
Otherwise this pre-sequel was total nonsense, too short to develop good story, but short enough for good erotic scene, which was not the case in this book.
Santino wrote on twitter that this might actually be the dirtiest thing he'd ever written. If he's wrong, he's not off by much. Embarrassingly holy shit hot!
Original review: Hot little MFM short with hints of MM. Takes place 5 years before the Five Boroughs series. Even though I haven’t been into girly bits lately in my reading, this was still a hot read, although I wish it had been MMF!
Holy cr@p this is one sizzling hot erotic tidbit! Having just read Chris' story in "Third Rail" and "City Wide", this fills in the blanks re: the threesome mentioned between Chris, Stephanie and Raymond. Hotchy motchy ...
This was such a quick, sexy short story of an M/F/M threesome that will just make you beg for more of Chris Mendez. It was hard to picture Ray with someone other than David now, but since this short was pre-David times, you’ll have to adjust a bit. Regardless though, Corrupting Chris was such a nice addition to the ever-addictive Five Boroughs series. Now I won’t be wondering how Ray was when he was fooling around with Stephanie way back when.
**In light of the recent events (Feb/March 2018), including the admissions from the author, I've decided to remove my ratings but leave my reviews as they stand.
Update: As more information comes to light about the attacks against other authors whose voices I value, I can't in good conscious leave my reviews for the books up. The words and characters, much of which I truly loved are now tainted.** _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[Update 3/10/18] In regards to the latest updates about the author Santino Hassell I decided to take all of my reviews of their single written books down from my blog and won’t review further books in future.
Reviews removed from all Santino Hassell books due to recent revelations about his behaviour. For more details check out Riptide's Statement on Santino Hassell here: http://riptidepublishing.com/a-statem...
Rating removed in light of gaslighting by the author.
This free short story is not one to be missed.
The cover took my breath away, I've always loved santino's covers and this one is just as amazing as the others from this series.
We hear the mention of this threesome few times throughout the series and I for one was really excited to read how that happened.
This story introduced the character Chris to me and I have to say I find him adorable! The scene was super hot and oh so yummy. I loved blunt Steph and chill Ray and blushing Chris. What an amazing trio.
This was really good. I was interested in Chris from Rays book. It makes me excited to read his HEA. Stephanie was good too. I didn't really think about her much. She was just a side character but this made me pay attention to her a little more. I love her strong attitude. She also came off as a very caring friend. Considering this was only like 15 pages mostly filled with sex, that shows you're a good writer to make me interested in the characters. And of course Raymond was everything. Definitely my favorite from this series.
A short hot story from this author, this is a free read and a enjoyable one. If you haven’t read Five Boroughs you can still read this but if you do the chance is you want to read the rest of the books in this great series.
Hassel writes emotional, sweet and hot stories that flows very well so you get engaged in the story very easy.
This for me felt like a introduction to the series, the start of it all.
Chris is so damn adorable! Pair him with Steph and Raymond...SIZZLE!! These three friends know how to get down and dirty together. Don't miss Chris's first dip in the threesome waters...
AND DAMN!! Raymond is just as sweet and hot as ever...
This novella's a hot m/f/m threesome. It's a prequel, set about five years before book one, but all three characters have actual romances in the series (though I've only read Ray's so far). Totally worth it. I mean, it's actually a freebie so....
