Zoey Draven has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. Her love affair with the romance genre started with her grandmother's old Harlequin paperbacks and has continued ever since. As a Top 100 Amazon bestselling author, now she gets to write the happily-ever-afters—with a cosmic, otherworldly twist, of course!
When she's not writing, she's probably drinking one too many cups of coffee, hiking in the redwoods, or spending time with her family.

The heroine:Cecilia - she was a cancer survivor who was abducted from Earth by a cruel race of aliens and rescued by the warriors of Luxiria. She feels that her cancer has returned, she has been getting night sweats again. She is far from Earth where she can get treatment for her cancer and is a different race than the people who live on the planet, so fears she will keep getting worse.
The Hero:Rixavox - He is one of the seven Ambassadors of Luxiria, in charge of one of the outposts. He was one of the most brutal generals in the war and he had a way with the ladies since he has been an ambassador. He just returned to the golden city from a mission to retaliate against the Gitutians for their acts in abducting the human females. He can’t wait to get back to his outpost and find a pleasure mate to take away all the stress from being off planet.
The Story: Rixavox was curious about the human females, though the prime leader has kept them separate from the population since they might trigger a mating instinct in a male and a mated male could be dangerous, wanting to take the human away and never letting her go. Meanwhile Cecilia was taken away by the doctor who said he could cure her. Apparently cancer is treatable in the Luxirians. Though first she must go to an outpost in the North to bathe each day in a sacred pool to rid her body of toxins. So Rixavox is tasked with accompanying Cecilia to his home.
I liked the story and the characters. Rixavox promised the prime leader that he would take care of Cecilia when they were at his outpost, so it was a bit of a slow burn, but I liked that his playboy ways ended as soon as he saw Cecilia and knew she was his mate. Though his decision to have one of his old lovers as a companion to Cecilia was a strange one even though Cecilia knew the whole time and agreed to it.
This book was told in dual points of view via duet narration, and was narrated by Sierra Grace and Tristan Josiah. I had already read the first and last books of this series and I bought some more because I liked the stories and the fact that they are done in duet narration and both these narrators are good at doing different voices.
Book 4 in the Warriors of Luxiria series gives us fierce war general Ambassador Rixavox and human Cecelia.
Rixavox is a playboy/manwhore that feels he can never settle with one woman that is until he comes across his fated mate Cecelia, who has been rescued by the warriors of Luxiria after having being kidnapped from earth by another race of aliens.
Cecelia, has been in remission from cancer but knows it is back, luckily her rescuers have technology that means death is not on the table and she doesn’t have to suffer through the treatments she endured on earth. After all she has suffered Cecelia is still a good person, who puts others first and her chemistry with Rixavox was clear, even as it confused her.
A nice quick read, not my favourite in the series, but it wasn’t terrible. I liked the fact that Rixavox makes it clear he only wanted Cecelia and that she’s the only one in his present and future. I just wish Rixavox had been aware of the dumb move it was to have his ex-bed-mate/lover take care of Cecelia while he was away, even if she was the nicest ex on the planet (which she wasn’t) it was not a smart move. This also brings me to my second issue, I wish Rixavox’s ex-bed-mate Levrix, had suffered a little, I hate how we aren’t told what happened to her. I also think the way in which Cecelia bonded with her was a tad unrealistic, and this inauthenticity was a sharp needle in my side as I read the book and Cecelia’s interactions with Levrix.
WOW! This book, nay this whole freaking series thus far, has been crazy awesome! I am going to take a minor break before moving on to the next book (5) in this series. Trying to savor it since it's the latest book in this series and I have just flown through these within mere days. Every book for me has been 5 stars. Trust me, if you love HOT Alien Sci-Fi but with an actual deeper plot that grows with each story; then I highly recommend that you pick this series.
It says they can be read as standalones, but I strongly recommend that you read them in order as I have.
They are all quick reads, but they are packed with alot of story. The best of both our reading worlds ;)
These Luxurian Warriors are off the chain, let me tell you.
As soon as Cecelia said she was infertile, I got that sick feeling in my stomach. With the emphasis on pregnancy in this series, I had a feeling about the direction it was going to go. I read on, hoping I was wrong.
And then there was the plotline involving Rixavox’s brother.
For those curious:
Don’t even get me started on the absurd other woman drama and then the magic mate bond/blood exchange…
For all my complaints, the writing was wonderful. Zoey Draven has some serious skill, and I’m enjoying my time exploring her backlog. There were some fun and cute moments. I didn’t hate the story, I just couldn’t like it.
It was…humbling. It was beautiful. She was the only thing in all the universe that he wanted to see. The only thing.
3.5/5 stars, a good continuation to this romance series.
I find these books just fun and easy to read every now and then. I think this book was fun and exciting in the beginning then slowed down a little bit towards the end. I really liked the scenery change in this one too. It was interesting to expand the world a little more. When it came to the climax of the story I kind of predicted who was the antagonist but that didn't make it any less fun.
I enjoyed it and will probably pick the next one up when I'm in the mood.
I didn't dislike this couple, but I just didn't like their story as much. I liked both characters well enough, but not as much as the 2 sets of characters from the first 3 books. Good thing the next book is about Vikan because his broody crankiness in the 3rd book intrigued me.
The Alien's Touch is the fourth book in the Warriors of Luxiria series. It is a quick read with lots of steam and spice. I don't mind reading these books, alpha, aliens, human, fated mates, insta love tropes, because they are sci-fi, and anything goes.
This is Cecelia and Rixavox’s story, with a strong, grumpy war general, and action, which is a nice distraction from normal life for a few hours, especially if it is Zoey Draven. Her writing style is easy and inviting.
Re-reading this series again because apparently I didn't leave a review the first time.
UPDATE: I couldn’t stop thinking about this book. So I reread it again after only 2 months. I enjoyed just as much the second time around. Given that this book had me think about it so strongly, I revised my rating from 4 to 5 stars. There’s 2 other stories in this series that I can’t get out of my head; Kirov and Cruxan’s stories. I’ve downloaded them on my KU so I can reread them again.
I can’t decide if Lihvan’s story is my favorite or if Rixavox’s is. They both are strong male characters and they both have a back story that explains a lot of their behavior. Perhaps it’s just my need to fix a broken bird. It is mentioned in previous books that Rixavox is basically a man whore. Unapologetically too. However, once he meets his luxiva his previous behavior shames him. But he does admit to himself that he was using sex as a diversion to mask his pain and shame over something that happened with his brother.
I really like “Sessela” as a main female character. Strong but flexible. Some pretty steamy scenes too. Their HEA was so satisfying.
I agree with other reviewers here, that I wish we had some type of closure on what happened to Rix’s ex-lover. I mean poisoning his mate?! Surely that can’t go unpunished, even if she is a rare female. Her comment to Cecilia, “. . . There will never be another pureblood Luxirian child born again.” Was simply heartbreaking.
Although it does expose something I wish some authors would explore better . . . How the infertility issue affects the alien females that are left. It’s gotta do something to their psyche to know they can never have children and then see all the men of their kind go after human women. I’ve only read one author, Charlene Hartnady, that tried to deal with it. Given that it’s the main plot point of most of these alien romance books, I’m surprised that more authors haven’t addressed this. They just always seem to make these barren women the bad guy. I guess they just make for an easy antagonist.
Now to some plot holes and questions that I have . . . 1) this book states that Vaxa went to the pits because he heard that humans were compatible breeding partners and he felt that this was the future needed to save his people. However, in the first book, The Alien’s Prize he states that he finds humans weak, and if he knew that only humans were available, he wouldn’t have gone. His dislike of humans was a major point of contention between him and his mate, so I was surprised at this inconsistency.
2) Eyebrows . . . sure, this one is a nit. But still, I really hate when authors cannot keep their own storylines straight. But I digress. . . In the first book, Vaxa asks Kate about the hair above her eyes. He’s never seen that and wants to know what it is. So she has to explain to him what eyebrows are. In this book, Rix furrows his brows a lot. Especially considering he doesn’t have any.
3) when Cecilia first meets Rix, the description is that she doesn’t even come to this chest. 7.5’ tall was the estimate she had of him. But at his house, Cecilia mentions that she barely reaches his shoulders. So. If he’s 7.5’ and she just reaches his shoulders, would that make her around 6.5’ herself? Really? Not to mention that sex with that kind of height differential is pretty tricky. I mean, think about it, if you’re “joined” at the crotch while bumping uglies, her face is gonna hit him at chest level, which would make kissing during sex pretty awkward. That’s hard enough, how’s he gonna just lower his head to her boobs as well? Ok, ok I put way too much thought into that, considering I’m just reading these romance books as a guilty pleasure. I mean suspension of disbelief and all, we’re talking sex with ALIENS here.
There were a few more minor ones but you get my drift. Story continuity in a series shouldn’t be hard to do. Believe me, your readers are going to catch it. Having said all that, would I recommend the series? Sure. I still enjoyed the storyline, characters and their planet, Luxiria.
I really enjoyed the first half of this. The 2nd part may just be a me thing but it rubbed me the wrong way. The Luxurian females are all infertile, Ceceilia is also infertile, yet the planet could "cure" her? Sure.
Another great addition to the series! Rixavox is a known playboy and womanizer who can’t imagine his life with just one female. However, when he encounters Cecelia for the first time, he recognizes her as his mate and his whole world is turned upside down. After being rescued by the Luxirian's, Cecelia’s cancer has unfortunately returned. They have a way to help her and the first step of treatment lies in Rixavox's territory. He must escort her there and see to her treatment, but he has promised to put her well being and health first, which means he must resist the temptation of his fated mate.
This was a bit of a slower burn since these two couldn’t really act on their physical urges. It ultimately created more of a deeper and emotional connection between them as they were getting to know each other. Cecelia has lived most of her alone and has had so much hardship, Rixavox made her feel hopeful and wanted, and provided a safe place for her to land. Rixavox had so much inner turmoil surrounding his past with other women and not knowing if after the treatment she would return to Earth, so he had to be more vulnerable and open with her. They provided exactly what the other needed, and made each other better. It was also nice to see more of the world and explore the outpost in the snowy mountains. It was a nice change from the Golden City, and I am interested to see how much the world building and culture of Luxiria will continue to expand.
I don’t have many gripes with this series but in this one I definitely did not enjoy the lack of resolution for a particular side character. I won’t spoil anything but IYKYK, and I think it was wasted potential. I also think it could have had implications for a larger political plot happening in the background of these books, but maybe that's just my own personal preference.
Betty Draper - is that you honey? Narration 4. Story 2.5
I think the biggest challenge I had with this book is the huge gargantuan hole at the end of it. Without giving a spoiler, there is a particular protagonist who features in a good 2/3 of the book and then at the end they just vaporize even though their fate is probably important to what comes next in the book. And even more so because their fate and inclination towards what they did is probably tied to some political stuff which I'm sure is going to come up in the rest of the books.
The other thing that was really annoying was how the FMC has amnesia. How she was suddenly questioning the intention of the MMC and yet he's told her two times already in previous chapters. That was just odd.
I wish I'd known before starting the series that is all about breeding Hea's Not really my favorite trope. But that's not the fault of the book and the narration was good.
Although the voice of the doctor sounds so familiar like a well-known sci-fi character... And I swear to goodness that throughout half of the book I thought the female character was the woman that played Betty Draper. The inclusion of the word "honey" was so cringy especially during the seggsy scenes. Yuck.
Is this spicy? Very. Would I recommend? Oh yes, highly. This has been one of my favorites in the series so far.
This entire series is made up of bite-sized stories that have a few things guaranteed: Fated Mates, Breeding Keenk, and all the wanting.
I liked this story a lot because it was the most unique compared to the others, as the FMC is dealing with cancer. This story is on the slower side, being that it is a slow burn; however, the payoff is worth the wait!
I highly recommend this series for readers looking for an alien romance with shorter stories that are immensely satisfying.
romance was ok but too much insta-love is meh for me. especially on the girl’s end bc at least ML can justify it with their weird alien biology. you CANNOT convince me that this was slow burn. just because it’s not socially acceptable to jump someone’s bones does not make a book slow burn l o l literally the plot does not exist there’s no plot at all whatsoever im moderately impressed that this is even possible world building nothing that adds significantly to what was built in previous books but that building was pretty good so it carries. but could’ve definitely been explored more in this one especially since they travel to a new land.
I enjoyed this but I wasn't in love with it! I like Rixavox and Cecelia, they were cute together but I felt like I missed when they actually started having romantic feelings for one another. It was always LUST, LUST, LUST and them BAM! "I love you"s were being thrown around.
I enjoyed it and I am curious about his brother! :D
OMG this was so cute. I really loved this story. I feel like the ending wasn't necessarily needed, but that's a me problem - I knew what I signed up to read lol. THE TENSION WAS UNREAL. 5/5 onto the next in the series.
I cannot begin to tell you how addicted I am with this series!!
I haven't been able to put these books down since I started reading each and every one of them!!! They are full of sci-fi adventure and seriously sexy scenes!!!
the cover is a bit much i’ll give you that but hot damn there’s something about zoey draven’s paranormal romances that are sooo good, i mean if you like ipb? these blow those out of the water
