Have Fun Exploring the Stars with Close-up Views of Space Objects Right from Your Own Backyard
It doesn’t take an astronomy degree to feel like an astronaut and explore space with a small telescope. See It with a Small Telescope takes the mystery and struggle out of exploring the unknown and discovering new worlds! With hands-on tips and tricks, this book offers a complete guide to unleashing the full power of a small telescope and going beyond the basics.
Without technical jargon and complicated star charts, this book offers step-by-step instructions and easy-to-use illustrations for finding over 100 celestial objects in the night’s sky, including:
Saturn’s Rings Jupiter’s Moons Orion Nebula Andromeda Galaxy Polaris Double Star Pegasus Globular Cluster Apollo 11 Site ...and more!
If this was spiral bound it would make a great telescope-side volume, as the included star B&W starcharts would be ideal for viewing with a red light. Each entry (except for some of the lunar features) covers two pages, with a description of the object, where it can be located, and the difficulty. The accompanying star chart is on the second page. This is ideal for someone who wants to know what to look for with their first telescope.
I've only read the introduction, but so far everything is informative and interesting. I got this book as a Goodread Giveaway, so I did not know I needed to own a small telescope to enjoy fully the experience that the book offers. The introduction alone made me want to go out and buy one though. For now I'll see what I can of the night sky with the naked eye.
This book is ideal, novice(like me) to professionals; and comes in eformat. so can be read whilst out at night. Very well put together, and star maps are useful too. I give it 5 stars(the whole universe even) and 10/10 as well.
