It’s Autumn in Pine Ridge, WV and the whole town is getting ready for the upcoming fall festival. Mikki Bridgewater loves everything about this time of year, especially the decorations. She is all set to get her candle shop ready for the judges and hopefully take the top prize in the Spooky competition. There’s just one catch. A mysterious note left at Mountain Light’s Candle & Gifts makes her start to question if the author meant it as a prank or something more sinister. When more notes begin to surface things take a scary turn. Darkness falls across Pine Ridge and its cause will soon become apparent. The streak of recent deaths will seem like child’s play if this killer has their way. Can Mikki, Meg, Paul and their friends find a way to protect the good citizens of Pine Ridge West Virginia or will a murderous rampage change life as they all know it?
Got this on SYKD and it’s a very fun & short read for Halloween season. The southern slang & sayings were on point👌🏼 Had me laughing and also had me intrigued the whole time.
I really liked this series!!!! Mikki is getting ready for the Halloween judging of the businesses decorating contest. But one morning she got to work and finds a note stuck in one of she bales of hay at her front door. She takes it in and reads it and makes two phone calls one to Meg her best friend and the other to her man officer Paul Richards. What in the neck is going on in Pine Ridge, West Virginia? Mikki, Paul and of course Meg get together to try and figure out who and why? Then there are more notes delivered to the police station. Now a plan is made to get who! There seems to be a connection to several so called accidents in the past. Now you have to get this book to find out what Mikki and Paul do!!!!!
This book was subpar. I would give it a 1 star, but I reserve those for books that are unreadable, and this one wasn't quite that bad. It's a short book - which I usually love, but nothing really happened until page 60 or 62 of 70. And then the climax happened so quickly and then we were already in the ending. Scattered throughout where also some spelling and grammatical errors, which irk me, but if you're not bothered by that, then that's clearly not an issue.
I'm overall just really disappointed with this book. I only finished it because it was only 70 pages.
People with southern accents get offended when others think they are less intelligent because of how they speak. It's worse to assume that small town southern people speak as though they are auditioning for the musical Oklahoma. There was more Halloween decor than mystery in this book
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the way the author spoke directly to the reader at times ( Like the old 50's TV show with Betty White "Life with Elizabeth" where she would turn directly to the camera and talk to the viewers.) Highly recommended.
This was a great story and well put together. I really enjoyed reading it. If you want a really quick mystery to read then this is your story. I love how it makes you feel as if you’re right with the characters living the story.
Short read and quick pace. She loves her small town livin', just a bit small town thinking, like I understand what you mean but you don't need to say it 4 times 3 different ways. I won't be continuing the series, it was free so no harm to me
