Jetty Beach #3

Must Be Fate

Rate this book
Fate is definitely speaking to me.

I’m a free spirit, letting the universe guide me. After getting fired—again—and finding my lights turned off—again—I’m positive the universe is telling me to move to Jetty Beach.

But the first thing I manage to do in Jetty Beach is give myself a concussion. When I wake up, he’s there. Dr. Cody Jacobsen.

With a gorgeous body, ridiculous dimples, and an adorable bedside manner, Cody literally saves the day—taking care of me and giving me a place to stay.

Our chemistry is off the charts. But to a man like him—mature and put together—I’m a wild breeze who throws him off kilter. And for a woman like me—who never truly lets anyone in—he might want more than I can give.

He might want everything.

This one was cute. I loved Clover and her free ways from the start. She was a breath of fresh air the way she came into Cody's life and the way that she got him to loosen up. The two of them were great together until both of them started to over think things and causing themselves problems. It took a serious event for both of them to see the error of their ways and fix things, which made the ending all the better, they deserved the happy they found.

I love Clover and Cory's story. Clover is gorgeous and spontaneous. Cody is sex on a stick. He is sweet and protective but takes charge in the bedroom. As a reader, I felt welcomed by their family and friends as a new member of Jetty Beach. Good authors have the characters jump off the page. Amazing authors also drag you in, and you feel part of the story.

Clover is accident prone and was fired at the neighborhood coffee shop for slamming into a customer, landing his green tea latte all over herself and him. After getting fired, she decides to get a fresh start and decides that a town called Jetty Beach is just what she needs.

Cody finally decides he is tired of their toxic relationship and breaks up with his girlfriend. He doesn't know why he didn't take his families advice and do it ages ago. It was two years long past time. He doesn't understand why it took him so long.

Will forever read and re-read all books by Claire Kingsley and highly recommend that everyone else do so also.

**Doctor vs. Girl, that's accident prone

This is one of those books I have always wanted to read but I never had the chance to do it. Thankfully I received a courtesy copy of the book and I’m happy to say that Claire once again has pleasantly surprised me. Clover and Cody are a unique couple. She is a free spirit, grown up with two parents much more interested in the laws of the universe. Cody, on the contrary, comes from a traditional family so when they meet I really thought that their relationship could have lasted a day. I admit, I’m a woman of little faith firstly because I should have guessed their overwhelming passion the moment they looked at each other. Those few moments gave me goosebumps and throughout the entire story I was on tenterhooks. I loved the entire plot, their passion and the interactions among the characters.

4.5 / 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐️💫
3 / 5 🌶️
Spicy chapters: 14, 15, 16, 18, 22

First Person, Dual POV 🙌

Cody (MMC) and Clover (FMC)

Pros:
Hot spicy scenes 🌶.
Short & sweet story with lots of heart and a swoony MC.

I loved the FMC 💪🏻. Clover was so resilient, kind, friendly... She's all over likable and resourceful. Also, her positive thinking is attractive and endearing. In addition, her self-doubt and insecurities are reliable and give her character depth and realism.

Cons:
The third act breakup was a bit 'meh'.
I didn't like that Cody was constantly comparing Clover to his ex-girlfriend, plus he was speaking ill of her constantly 😩🙄. Not classy, man 😒.

Happy reading! 📚

This is a review for the first five books in the Jetty Beach series. I have spent the last few days absorbed in the world of Claire Kingsley's Jetty Beach series and I have enjoyed meeting her characters, spending time with them while they work through their individual issues and am looking forward to reading book six and seven.

I read the second book first and then come back to this one because after I finished One Crazy Week, I realised that Behind His Eyes was book one of the Jetty Beach series. Do I feel like I was confused because I started with the second book first? No. Each book pretty much felt like standalones and you just get the added benefit of going back and finding out more detail about a character who keeps showing up. However if I had started with one closer to the end of the series, it might have been a little more confusing. I don't think so but it is nice to know who each character is and their back story when you see them mentioned again. It is like saying hello to an old friend (that you like).

Honestly, did I love them? Yes and No. No because the first two, maybe three books felt like they were trying a bit too hard and it fell flat because it felt a little (I don't want to say cringey) but with all the pet names like baby being thrown around, it made me cringe a little more than I wanted too. But it showed that the author was at the beginning of her writing career? I am not sure if she was but it felt that way. But there was a lot of promise and I have kept reading through the series and the writing does improve, it almost feels like the authors relaxes and begins let the words flow. I don't know how to describe it but I started to connect more with the writing and the characters and thank goodness, we saw far less, oh yes baby or baby this and baby that (clearly for me, this irks me - which is my issue and might not be for others). I can say without a doubt though that so far Book Four and Five have been my favourite.

I really love that we get mentions of past couples in each new book because it makes it feel like an extended epilogue and I just love that. All in all, a bit of cringe but overall, I find Claire Kingsley's writing endearing, entertaining and heartfelt. Would I add these to my shelves in paperback? Yes, Yes I would, even the first three books because I enjoyed them despite the flaws I felt they had and I enjoy seeing how much this authors writing has improved along the way. Her characters have heart and their journeys to love (and some mind blowing sex) has had me giggling and fanning myself into a love for this series.

I think we can safely call the romance between Cody Jacobsen M.D. and Clover Sunshine Fields an opposites attract trope. Cody is a by the book, color within the lines family practitioner. Clover is a free spirit who follows her impulses and what she believes are signs from the Universe to guide her life. When fate brings the two together in the little seaside town of Jetty Beach Washington, both of their lives will be changed forever. When the two lay eyes on each other it’s a draw as to whom is more mesmerized, Clover looking at the handsome doctor’s dimples or Cody looking at Clover’s stunning smile. I really like both characters in this story. Cody was a really good guy, a caring doctor, son and brother if a little to stiff and focused on his practice at the expense of actually living his life. Clover is a ray of optimistic sunshine with her megawatt smile and friendly nature. Clover had a very unorthodox upbringing being raised by her parents a couple of vagabond hippies who had her late in life. It’s been ten years since they left her on her own when she turned eighteen to move to Thailand and she hasn’t seen or heard from them since. That detached abandonment by her parents has deeply affected Clover and how she lives her life even though she tries to shrug it off and tell herself it doesn’t bother her. After a torrid and passionate relationship they hit a snag. Can Cody accept Clover’s impulsive nature? Can Clover give up her gypsy lifestyle and commit to one place and one man? Very likable main characters and supporting cast, plenty of sexy and this author has really mastered already in her career how to write a great romantic ending.

Dr. Cody meets his match in child of hippies Clover. She teaches him to trust his gut and go with his instincts sometimes rather than by the book. He teaches her that running isn't the answer.

This book was good up to a point. This was a fun couple ... up to a point. But Clover had some pretty serious issues and really pushed Cody's boundaries. That whole sex in the strip club was a bit much. And then Clover kind of turns into a nightmare for a minute. That was actually kind of jarring. But she comes to her senses eventually.

Like the with first two books in this series, they're so short and I think a lot more could be handled with more pages. But a lot gets rushed through and brushed aside and makes you feel like some important steps have been skipped in order to get to the HEA.

Free spirit Clover and straight laced Cody are the perfect blend of opposites attracting. They both needed something that they other lacked to make themselves better apart and together.

This wasn't my favorite of this series, but it was still worth the read.

I enjoyed the story of flighty, hippie, clumsy Clover Fields and button-down Dr. Cody Jacobsen. The cover misses the mark on the hero, though.

A woman who lives her life according to fate shows up in Jetty Beach changing everything for the small town's doctor.

Clover Fields was raised by Hippie parents. Her adult life has been an adventure of different jobs and temporary living, going where her gut takes her. Her latest whim has brought her to this small coastal town where she shares an unforgettable moment with a complete stranger.

Cody Jacobsen works long hours at his clinic as a family doctor. Having just ended a long term relationship, he finds himself wondering if he needs to make even more changes in his life. He is looking for happily ever after long term and wonders if he will know when the timing is right for him. Then he shares an eye locking moment with a beautiful stranger.

Cody offers to help Clover and the two begin to form a platonic friendship. Both are incredibly attracted to each other, and in a short amount of time the two stop fighting their chemistry. As Clover settles into life in this new town, Cody finds himself working less and less much to the happiness of his staff. Clover pushes Cody out of his comfort zone encouraging him to live a little. But when the two are forced to have a conversation about the future their goals don't align leaving them floundering.

Ok. Let's talk about the 3 star rating. I have some issues with a problematic theme. The chemistry is great. The intimacy is intense and a fun read. Clover definitely breathes fun and adventure into Cody's life. But, Clover is selfish and manipulates Cody to do things without his consent. On paper the two people just don't make sense. Their life goals and priorities do not align and by the end, there aren't many steps for healthy change.
*Spoiler*: there is a moment where Clover takes things too far and forces Cody to do several things (uncomfortable to read) that he clearly does not want to do. When he confronts her about it in a not so great way, Clover's trauma overwhelms her to make unhealthy decisions. Her immaturity is slightly forgiven due to her making some good choices by the end, but I still am not comfortable with her character's choices or motivations. Yes, she does get to a somewhat mentally healthy place by the end after a rather overly dramatic conflict, drawn out separation, and intense climax. Good HEA and epilogue.

Clover arrives in Jetty Beach only to find out that all the hotels are booked so she decides to have dinner before trying to figure out accommodations. She catches the eyes of a gorgeous man and bam! Slams right into a waiter and is knocked out cold. Cody is there with his brothers and future sister-in-law when she is knocked out cold. Luckily, his clinic is nearby to attend to her concussion and with nowhere to stay gives her his bed as he takes the couch. Getting her well is his highest priority. He'll just ignore her sex appeal.

Clover Fields lives her life by the signs she thinks the universe is sending to her. She's carefree, spontaneous, a little wild and spreads sunshine all around her. Ending up in Jetty Beach may be a quirk of fate but it puts her square in the path of Dr Cody Jacobsen. One look between them bring her to her knees, literally. She walks into a tray of food and knocks herself out. Cody treats her for mild concussion and brings her home to care for her as she has no one else to do it being new in town. Cody wants her from the outset but resists because it's the right thing to do. Little does he know that she has the same feelings for him and when they finally give into each other it's incendiary. For six months she takes him on a merry trip of spontaneity, laughter and lusty nights. Until it all goes wrong but fate steps back in a puts him in the right place at the right time to save her and give home back his sunshine. Because without her life was dull, dark and colorless.

So far I have loved all of the books in the Jetty Beach Series and this one didn't disappoint. Cody & Clover seem like the most unlikely pair but it is their differences that make them work. Their chemistry is instantaneous and it burns up the pages with their sex scenes. I liked how Clover's free spirit brought out the best in Cody and he was able to relax and see life in a different way. Cody loves Clover for who she is and embraces her for all of the things that make her stand out from everyone else. This book had the right amount of everything to make me not want to put it down. It was an easy read with a HEA...I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it along with the first 2 books in the series. Can't wait for the next one! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted this in another website on August 27, 2016.

Just when you think a 3rd book in a series can't get better, BAM Messy Perfect Love slaps you across the face with the crazy Clover who is a breath of fresh air as far as Heroines go for me! I need this girl in my life for reals! the Meet Cute between her and Cody was spot on, and their whirlwind of a romance ensues. it's Messy, it's crazy, it's just perfect. This book is probably my favorite so far, and I have four more to read so I'm not sure how any can top it! Clover is a little crazy, a lot of fun and just a girl who flies by the seat of her pants. Cody is a Doctor and lives for his practice because that's his first love. She brings her crazy to the table and he in a loving way grounds her. They are the perfect match.

Cody and Clover - An opposites attract story with a passionate twist in the town of Jetty Beach where this kind of occurrence seems to be the norm!
Book # 3 in a fantastic series, shows all sides of Cody's personality even some he didn't know he had, while Clover the free-spirited wander finds that the stars have aligned and are pointing her new direction!
When these two collide, it's a cosmic explosion!
It was a story filled with ups and downs, witty banter, heat overload and heart squeezes that I could not get enough of! I absolutely love this series!

Opposites attract in a small town. Clover is the definition of a free spirit, but Cody makes her see that roots can be a good, if terrifying, thing. Cody is the guy who thrives on routine and taking care of others. Clover shows him that having fun and having someone take care of him can be better than he imagined. Their romance is both sweet and steamy. I love the setting so much! The secondary characters and this Jetty Beach world are well-rounded and I especially like exploring the relationship between the brothers. I love how they all accept Clover and support her.

Another doozy from the brilliant mind of Claire Kingsley.

I've been looking forward to Cody's story since he first barged into Ryan's studio and stopped Ryan and Nicole's first kiss. And who doesn't love a cheeky, sweet doctor?

I laughed when Clover told Cody her name... so hippy. Ha ha ha! She was a 'free spirit' in one sense of the word, yet very trapped in another. What a beautiful, broken woman. Just perfect for the cute doctor to help glue back together with his family.

Bring on Book 4... please be about Hunter!

Although I like Claire as an author, I could not get down with this book. The female character drove me crazy. She complained about her credit score a couple times and all I could think was "well... duh!" Why would her credit score be good if she doesn't pay her bills and flies by the seat of her pants?! Her entire nature gave me anxiety and it was just a book. lol However, I understood the message about opposites attracting and the two main characters having qualities that the other person needed to be happy in life. Excited to move onto the next in the series and put this one behind me.

[3 Stars] A good intro to Claire Kingsley’s books! I liked her writing style and was entertained by the plot and I loved the dialogue between the characters EXCEPT for the 🌶 scenes, where I thought the dialogue was cringey to the point where I had to skim through. I also wish this was a longer book so we could get to know Clover and Cody better because there was little to no character development, just the sudden flip of a switch for Clover. I do appreciate that Claire Kingsley writes flawed characters but I wish she would have dug into these characters to really flesh them out.

Claire Kingsley continues to create characters that are flat out crazy..case in point Clover. She is the female version of Cooper from the Miles brothers. This was a laugh out loud read, never mind the seriousness of the issues resolving themselves in the background. The free spirit seldom wants to be grounded and most of the time that fear controls life-changing decisions. I am grateful that Claire Kingsley's novels give her readers a glimpse of the essence of true love and family.

Lovely

I love these characters. We already had a glimpse of Cody, in the first Jetty Beach book about his brother. However, Clover was a very unconventional & unexpectedly delightful character. I think we all know someone who just brightens up the room by entering it, and that’s who she is. Her insecurities and clumsiness make her one of the most beautiful oddities in Cody’s life- which is perfect.
