Derek Monahan sees violent death wherever he turns. His strange ability forces him to watch crimes that repeat in loops of blood and anguish. The only positive is that he is able to use his power to solve cold crimes...like the disappearances of boys from a secretive academy.
Dr. Kate Lincoln hates that her kid brother was sent to an awful school in Georgia. The place is a nightmare--housed in what was once a brutal asylum. Now her brother has disappeared, and she's the only one who seems to care.
Derek wants to help the beautiful doctor, but going undercover in a place that seethes with ancient violence isn't easy. When she sees just how much his job affects him, Kate realizes she wants to be the one to help heal the wounds of this strong, noble, and very sexy man.
Leslie A. Kelly is a New York Times Bestselling author of more than fifty novels in various genres. She writes contemporary romances--usually funny and sexy--as Leslie Kelly. The middle initial--A.--means a thrilling, dark suspense novel, like one of her Black CATs or Veronica Sloan titles.
She lives in Maryland with her husband and their daughters.
Derek Monaghan has a skill that allows him to see violent death, as it happened, whenever he is at the site of the death. It makes for an uncomfortable life. Derek is employed at Extrasensory Agents. All employees have their own special skill. Julia Harrington has come to them for help. Her younger brother has disappeared from a school for troubled youth. A school with a very dark history, her brother isn’t the first boy to disappear. The administration at the school and the local police label all the boys as runaways.
This is a very well written book that hooked me right from the beginning. It is a very dark tale, full of suspense with lots of twists that will keep you guessing. This is book 4 in the Extrasensory Agents series by Leslie Kelly. I feel like this book could be read alone, but the first 3 are so good I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to read them. This series has not gotten the attention it deserves, all the books are well written and well plotted. I highly recommend Cold Image and all 3 of the previous books in the series. Thank you to the author for a copy for a fair review.
Kate will not let it go. He brother has been missing for 6 months and she really believes he is dead. The school he was attending has been telling everyone that he ran away. She knows better. There is something going on there and she will find out what it is. She hires a different kind of PI to help her find answers. Derek sees violent death over and over. He has since he was 12 years old when he saw his own parent's deaths. Some would call it a gift, Derek isn't so sure. It really is a burden, but he helps people get answers. When Kate wants them find out what happened to her brother, he isn't so sure he is the right guy to do it, but he is. As he and Kate deal with all the danger surrounding the school, they grow closer. But, what would a highly educated doctor want with him?
Derek Monahan can see how people died wherever he goes. Katie Lincoln’s brother has disappeared and Derek is the only one who can help. Who is killing these young boys at the school? Can they find out before more disappear! If you haven’t read this series please do! I couldn’t put this down! Can’t wait for next book!!
Finally we get Derek’s story! Derek can see a re-creation, kind of like a shadow on repeat of violent deaths whether they are murdered or accidents. Dr Kate comes looking for someone to help find who killed her brother and who is making boys disappear at the school for troubled boys her brother was sent to. Extrasensory Agents team her up with Derek, and his unusual abilities. Kate understands Derek in a way that not even his closest friends do. There’s murder, mystery, intrigue, and love in the story.

Leslie Kelly has been an auto-buy author for me from the moment I read her very first book. I love her sexy contemporary romances, but when she switched over to romantic suspense, I knew she had found her true voice. Add in the paranormal and thriller elements of her Extrasensory Agents series, and her books are golden.
I've wanted Derek's book pretty much from the moment he first appeared on the page. Each of the Extrasensory Agents have a different gift and Derek's is that he can see how people were murdered, and his talent is needed to help solve the case of missing boys at an exclusive academy in Georgia. Enter Dr. Kate Lincoln, who's brother Oliver has been missing from the same academy for six months, and Kate needs Derek's help to figure out what happened to him.
The suspense/thriller elements were very strong in Cold Image. I actually had to put it down a few time when reading late at night so I could sleep through the night. Ms. Kelly has a wonderfully twisted mind when it comes to writing suspense, and I love every moment of it. I also loved that with Cold Image, we had more romance than in some of the earlier books. The romance has always been a part of the story, but with Kate and Derek it was more prevalent. I really found myself falling for Derek and Kate as a couple. I liked the Kate seemed to get Derek in a way no one else really did.
I'll put it out there right now. I usually have the who-done-it all figured out very early on in a book. I wasn't completely right in my guess this time, but I think it is because there were so many horrible people to pick from in this book. Seriously there were really only a couple people at the academy I didn't want to be eaten by the alligators in the swampy area.
Cold Image was a wonderful addition to the Extrasensory Agents series. I've been hooked on this series since I read the very first book and impatiently await the release of each new book in this series. I highly recommend Cold Image and the entire Extrasensory Agents series to readers who love paranormal romantic suspense books with thriller elements.

First of all, the entire series was simply, sigh, superlatives escape me. I have no words. It was amazing, stunning, scary, enthralling, ... I leave this review now, because, I simply had to keep going from the first novel to the last. If I stopped between each to write a review, well frankly it would have killed me. There was no way I could not go from one to the next! You ended this series with absolutely the perfect individual from the EA! Derek, stoic, somewhat heartbreaking due to his "gift" , was perfect for the last (nooooo) book in this series. Kate was his absolute soul person, strong, willing to fight, and above all, understood him. Together they a pair that did not give up. Now, I have to say, what an incredible writers mind you have Ms. Kelly! You made each novel in this series believable by having real issues solved, yet with the help of individuals that is more than just 10% of their brains. While most came into their gifts through trauma of some kind, they were not unbelievable. Frankly, for those of us that think there is more, and have experienced small parts, you did a wonderful job! I would love to see Julia's story, and certainly, Taylor's and even Vonnie's! Absolutely loved every enthralling moment!
## Loved the crime drama. The writing was great, and the plot was great as well. What I didn't like was the way the heroine mooned over the hero and kept throwing herself at him. Olivia did the same thing in book#2. No means no. Jeez lady have some pride. He kept pushing her away, saying he doesn't "DO" relationships (I detest that trope btw), yet she would push him and practically beg for him. Keep in mind she was a stunning doctor who not only graduated from Harvard medical school with honors but had spent the last year in Afghanistan helping soldiers with Doctors without Borders. She was smart, capable, beautiful, and very kind. It was hard to believe she would be that desperate for a man. After she finally gets him into bed, the next morning his hot/cold act is back in full force. It was frustrating for me, hence the one star deduction. If that doesn't bother you then this is a fantastic read. I would suggest reading book one before this one though for a better understanding of the recurring characters.
This is an awesome series and this book is no exception. Everyone in the Extrasensory Agency are interesting characters. All of them are engaging personalities and the situations they deal with are fascinating. Derek's talent is seeing an image of what happens to someone who dies a violent death. Kate hires the agency to help her find her missing brother whom she believes has been murdered. Full of action and suspense with great dialogue. If you like your mystery with some action both paranormal and situational, and a romance that is hotter than a Georgia summer read this book. I loved it and want more from this author.
This is the fourth book in a series but can be read as a stand alone. I really like the characters and the story lines. I am a big believer of psychic powers but these books almost seem over the top with their abilities. This one is about Derek and Kate searching for her brother who supposedly ran away. It's a good story, though.
This series is smust read for anyone who enjoys a good paranormal book. The only negative thing I have to say is how sad I am that this was the last in the series! What about Julia?! I was looking forward to her story. Fingers crossed there’s another on the horizon. Until then, I highly recommend you get started reading the series!
This story is well written. There is a lot of action, suspense and intrigue with a wonderful happy ending. I really want this series to continue. Stories don't have to just be about meeting their future loves, it can be about the case they are solving and their continued lives as well.
A really good read. I would have liked the ending to give a few more details but I suppose that means there will be another book. Yeah :-) A great read you will enjoy I recommend you read.
So well written! Such dynamic charactors that are really relatable. 5 star read all the way. I have loved every agent I have met so far and cannot wait to hear the stories of the remaining agents!
Wow! This book is great. Lots of ups and downs and twist and turns. Very suspenseful and you never know what’s coming. You love Derek and want to help him because of his gift. Good thing Kate comes along.
I like books about psychics and the paranormal. This was a good mystery and love story. I enjoyed the three previous books in this series. I hope Kelly writes Julia's story, nobody can love a ghost forever.
Interesting characters and a good plot make this a good read. The story seemed darker than the others in this series but is full of suspense and has a twist at the end.
Fourth book in the Extrasensory Agents series, and I hope it isn't the last-still need Julia's story and maybe Taylor's. I could have done without the swamp walking, but otherwise a great read.
I just found out there was a fourth book in this series, and it was worth the wait for me! I love this series! Each book is so unique. It’s hard to find authors who do paranormal romantic suspense, but Leslie A. Kelly does it so well!
This is another great story in This series! Loved Dereck and Kate. Lots of mystery and action. Great secondary characters. Lots of great feels and chemistry with some steam. Loved it!
Wow, I am going to repeat my self again this is such a great series. Dark romantic paranormal suspense. It makes your heart beat faster. And it makes you to yell put loud. I hope there will be a next book in this series in the near future. I love this series
Wow. This was another pulse pounding, edge of your seat mystery with more creepy bad guys in one spot than should ever happen. And a traumatized hero to save the day. Good read
