I read this and decided to apply some of the stuff just for kicks. Shortly after I hung crystals, by some odd coincidence or what have you, dragonflies started coming and a hummingbird nested in the climber rose. We still have our roses blooming like crazy in the middle of January!

Doreen Virtue has written a large number of very informative books about magick, angels, fairies and other elementals. This book was very short -- only 113 pages with one-third of the pages being beautiful drawn depictions of fairies. I read the entire book in about one hour, however, I learned a lot from it and it was a well-spent hour.
For those who know a lot about fairies and how to communicate with them, you probably don't need to read this book. But if you are curious, or are just beginning to learn (as I am) then this book is definitely worth the price.

I've always been a believer in fairies and other things that people don't normally believe in. Fairies have always interested me and this is a good book for someone who is beginning research/working with fairies.
It has many great stories of people's experiences working with fairies and it tells you ways you can begin to work with the fairies yourself. It has also has a chapter on fairy Kings and Queens, which I thought was pretty neat.
The pictures in this book are also very beautiful.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in fairies, or working with them.

Was not a fan of the artwork. It is so common to see only white divinity, as angels, deities, even jesus is depicted as white even though he is from the middle east. The information was good but not particularly lengthy.

I want to write a proper review but I'll like to start by saying that sometimes I wish Doreen was more "technical", although how much tecnic can one use with these type of themes is always a moo point.

~ * ~
Like I promised one my first one-line review when I first finished this book I will now review it properly.
I would like to start by saying that this book is visually stunning. The pages are fully coloured and the illustrations are breathtaking, this is a very pretty book and a fantastic choice of gift if you know someone who loves fairies. Although it's short (not even 150 pages) it's fulfils it's duty as an introduction and it even gives several useful tolls to work with the fairies.
The only thing I always find rather lacking in Doreen's "introduction series" it's detailed information. I understand that the books are suppose to be a brief introduction but sometimes I feel like they are more about showing how the angels and fairies can help you rather than speak about them. Although I find it fascinating and love to read these real live stories I also feel a little cheated, I was after all promised an introduction to a theme and not a series of stories about people who meet fairies. Even so, Doreen always shares some information that helps you connect to her ideas and to the main theme of the book.
I am now reading Constant Craving by Doreen as well and I am enjoying it more than Fairies 101 because it seams more real. It also sounds more serious, we have some real stories as well (I think of them as Doreen's trade mark) but we also have Doreen explain the study she conducted and how she found out cravings and energy problems were related.
Of course one can always argue that food cravings are more real than "fairies" and so, one as more to go on and to write on, but Doreen Virtue is known as the Angel Lady because of all her books and work on the field. So maybe I still haven't found a great book about angels or fairies, but to tell you the truth I just have read this introductions ones and she has more books on these subjects so I am bound to find one that I will enjoy 100%.

The layout and illustrations are beautiful. Doreen Virtue does a good job in introducing fairies. But this is what the book is, an introduction to fairies to those who are new to them. You are given enough information to understand them and from there you need to explore on your own. For more in depth information, another book is recommended. Regardless I love this book and it's a great introduction for new people to fairies.

Notable illustrations (produced by Howard David Johnson,) overshadow the lack of informational substance this book provides. In a mundane and over simplified approach, this book covers the topics it claims. I felt crucial information and notable points were disregarded or diluted. If only the content quality matched the effort put into the aesthetics of this book.

Who knew researching everything in the Fae landscape would be so strange?

Worth a laugh, and has some pretty pictures in it.

I'll pull a few quotes for context when I re-read for notes. I'm deeply into the Woo Woo, but believing fairies are real in a modern sense is a stretch for me. Their beauty is their myth. They do not get you jobs or heal your horses.

This was absolutely ridiculous… and that is coming from a person who does believe in faeries.

According to this author, all fairies are tiny beings with butterfly or dragonfly wings who love people and grant wishes. About anyone who has actually read any fairy lore knows this isn’t true. There is one tiny section/chapter about other beings… brownies, mermaids, and the like… but this is after several chapters stating they’re all small Tinker Bell like creatures, created by God along with angels.

But the worst part of this book were arguably the “true” testimonials. There was one where a woman lost her necklace, and after asking the fairies to help her find it, it shot across the room into her hand! She thanked them out loud, then heard a tiny giggling. In another story, after picking up some trash, a woman finds a small piece of quartz on the ground. As she bends to retrieve it, she hears a tiny voice saying “Thank you for your kindness.” In yet another, a fairy cures both a woman and her daughter of their hiccups!

Want to attract a fairy but not sure how? Don’t worry! All you have to do is leave pieces of unwrapped chocolate outside! They love the stuff! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I cannot believe this was written for adults, by a “doctor,” no less.

If you are interested in faeries, I recommend “A Witch’s Guide to Fairy Folk” by Edwin McCoy (a good book for working with fairies and magic, with an excellent encyclopedia in the back), “The Element Encyclopedia of Fairies” by Lucy Cooper (for learning about different kinds of the folk), and “Faeries” by Brian Froud and Alan Lee (mostly for the exceptional artwork)!

I knew nothing about the Fair Folk going into this and I came out knowing only a wee bit more. Also.... I've never in my life seen someone who believes in God and fairies. It was something new for me. I grew up in a Christian religion where you'd go to hell for believing in fairies. So it was weirdly nifty to see something different.

The artwork is the best part of this book. I'd love to rip out the pictures and hang them around my witchy space. Besides for that I would say skip this book, there are better ones out there with more details. This is just too basic and it has no depth.

What a delightful little book! It's a great, quick read, and I found it very enjoyable and uplifting. I rarely describe things as "cute" and don't mean it to sound patronizing, but that's how I would describe this book, in the best way possible. It's just FUN. And the images are so gorgeous. I really enjoyed this as a simple introduction to fairies. Check it out. You can finish it in a day!

Interesting, but beware of the author - since these books, she has become one of those fanatical christians who believe that their way is the only right way..... you do you, Doreen, but you can't decide what's right for everyone else you little creep.

Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to deep dive into the metaphysical practices, understand and/or work with the fairy realm. It's a concise narration of Dos, Don'ts and personal encounters of various people with wonderful creatures from round the globe.

I would actually give this book two and a half stars. I liked it better than Virtue's Angel 101. The pictures were a bit much and Fairies are not God's creation.

My mother is an avid gardener, and being a natural clairvoyant my whole life I knew one of the spirits guarding an indoor plant which I worked very near to in her home growing up. She wasn't very environmentally conscious, though. I'm looking to populate my little apartment with some plants, and I wanted to do it in a way that would be respectful of the elementals and I trust Doreen's clairvoyant and channeling skills so I got this book. It has a very succinct summary of the "fairy queens and kings," some of whom are found in her Archangels and Ascended Masters book. It also has illustrations by a great artist and some examples of fairies showing up in photographs. I decided to get a physical copy of this book when I heard about the illustrations, and I'm glad I did. It's both small in dimension and short in length, but has a lot of good information in it. I read it in one sitting, which is something I appreciate about Doreen's books. It gave me an idea where to start with working with the spirits which will come with my plants (as well as any pets I may get, apparently! :) ).

This is a super short book and can easily be read in an evening. It's a good introduction to these elementals and how to call on them for different areas of help, as well as how to take care of them. The study of fairies fascinates me in general and Doreen Virtue has this book filled with personal experiences and those of other people. There are some interesting photos and you can call out to them and take your own. My own experience has been arranging space in my flower gardens and out back by my birdfeeders. I have to say, my flowers have never done better! Whether you believe in fairies or not, thinking of them reminds us to take care of the many factors of our environment. For instance, when you're out on a walk, taking the time to pick up litter. Or to be conscious of using our many resources wisely. Doreen also explains in this easy reading, east to understand book, how to take care of fairies and how they take care of us. But first, you have to learn how to build their trust, which she also explains.

The softcover paperback book is in a nice glossy stock of paper. The artwork portraits by the artist "Howard D. Johnson" in the oil medium are great. Doreen Virtue, for her part in the text gives a simplistic "Fairies for Dummies" sort of introduction. Her writing seems to have been kept to a minimal relying on a dozen or so anecdotal evidence submitted to her. A couple of the testimonials did submit pictures showcased in the book which added a touch of curiosity to their experiences.

Overall I give Doreen 4 out of 5 stars for this 2007 intro book on Fairies 101.

A great book for those who are just being introduced to the wonderful world of faeries, nature spitits and elementals.
Fairies 101 touches the surfuace on how to connect and work with faeries and other elementals, shares real life stories on ecounters with them, and has beautiful artwork.
This book helped me dig deeper and find out more about them because there really is so much to learn.

I was expecting a lot more from this book, perhaps believing that the "101" aspect was not being truthful. In the end, the book really is little more than a bit of 'facts' on fairies mixed in with personal accounts.[return][return]An easy read with quick-to-use suggestions, but just nowhere as deep as I expected.[return][return]I will say that all the paintings are absolutely beautiful, however.
