Cute story of love in the highlands

This was a cute, fast read, and for the most part I enjoyed it very much. The set up of Lucy escaping her clingy ex and joining up on a reality show was amusing and fun. I liked most of the characters and enjoyed watching the set up leading Lucy to a man she could love.

It wasn’t without issues. Mostly in the ending where Liam pulls an exceptionally boneheaded move that felt out of character and contrived to extend the ending. The last about 20 pages dropped it a full star. However, I’d be willing to read more from this author and that’s a good thing.

This is a very sweet romance. No swearing or violence. There are some kisses and hints at sex, but no details. It is also a very British book and if you don’t know some of the slang I could see it being confusing. Thanks to my Beloved Brits I felt right at home.

The Blurb :
Lucy’s life is a mess. It’s official.
Her ex just walked out on his wedding, telling everyone it’s because he’s still in love with Lucy. Now everybody in town hates her, even though she’s the innocent party in this dreadful wedding day fiasco.
Desperate for a place to escape to while the dust dies down, Lucy gets the chance to spend two weeks in a luxury castle in the Scottish highlands - for free. The catch? She has to be a last minute replacement contestant on a reality TV series about relationships.
The Love Programme will offer Lucy a much-needed get out of town quick opportunity, and it can’t be that bad being part of a TV show, can it?
Actually, yes it can...
To make matters even worse, her ex is still refusing to accept things are over between them and is now trying to track her down in Scotland.
The only good part in this whole disaster seems to be Liam, the intriguing and very handsome Scottish Laird (complete with kilt) who owns the castle. Lucy senses there's a spark between them, but the reality show’s director has made it perfectly clear that Liam is strictly off limits to the Love Programme’s contestants.
Now Lucy has some serious soul searching to do.
Should she consider giving her ex another chance? After all, their relationship has been on and off since they were teenagers and Marcus was her first love.
Perhaps she hasn’t even met the true love of her life yet and The Love Programme might help her to find him.

My Thoughts :
This took me a little whille to get into and at one stage I was thinking if it was for me but as it was under 200 pages long I persevered. And I am glad I did as I really got into the storyline and was eager to turn the pages.
After Lucy leaves town to get away from her obsessed and clingy ex boyfriend Marcus, she goes to a Scottish Estate owned by Laird Liam, to take part in a tv show called “The Love Programme” here is where she needs to learn how to embrace relationships and allow love to happen. Laird Liam is strictly off limits as all 3 contestants try for the attention of Issac who they each have 3 dates with over a course of a week. Issac then has to see if there is a connection with any of the girls and if love will blossom. With lots of surprises in store, a few twists and turns this is one book worth a read.
I really enjoyed this as Lucy comes into her own and starts to have feelings for someone she shouldnt and as the chemistry seems mutual things are kept under wraps as Lucy continues with the show.
Looking forward to more from Maggie Fox.

A clean, sweet romance with an unusual setting that has you both laughing and cheering.

I Loved this sweet romance! The characters were fun in all their flaws and endearing qualities. Lucy is down to earth but very unsure of herself although her "childhood" sweetheart, Marcus, who leaves a bride on the altar professing that he still loves Lucy. She has outgrown him and the humiliation of what happened at his wedding causes Lucy to go to the Scottish Highlands to be in a reality show about relationships and how to handle them called "The Love Programme" that her best friend had an in with and they needed a last minute fill-in. At the estate the show is filming on lives a very handsome Laird, Liam, who is not part of the show. All the characters we meet, both the show contestants, Liam, Marcus and the help at the estate are very well developed and fun to read about. Of course Marcus has stalked her all the way to the estate and Lucy with the help of Liam gets away from having a confrontation with Marcus. She likes him as a friend now, and does not want to hurt him, but she must confront this problem. This story is fun to follow and you root for some of the characters and are very surprised by the ending and what becomes of them all! I loved this clean romance. It was just the type of romance I like reading, clean and sweet with an ending you will love. I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

I received a copy of this book Free for my honest & unbiased review. That being said, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this story!!! It took place in the Scottish Highlands & shared some of translations for things in that area. I felt as though I was actually watching the story unfold as I was reading as fast as possible because I was so anxious to see what was coming.

I was able to relate to many of the things that happened to Lucy & how she felt. I was also intrigued by Liam's strange behavior around Lucy & what caused it. The reality show was different than what we see, but the concept worked great in this story. I was curious to see if anyone ended up with the *perfect man* that was the bachelor.

I thought that I might have figured out who would turn out to be couples before the reveal. I thought that I had found some *clues* in the story but I still got a surprise. I was worried about what would be the ending for 2 of the characters.

I try to be evasive because I don't want to spoil the story for others. It was a fun, clean & interesting story for me & I hope for many other readers as well. I definitely recommend this book!

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The plot is cute. Lucy wants to escape London, so she heads to Scotlan d to participate in a love-based reality show. But the book faltered for me with the main character. Lucy is just an OK heroine. Even though she has fallen into this show accidentally, she did commit to it and I found her discomfort about the cameras and the questions to be a little contrived. What adult can't answer a few simple questions straightforward questions about her ideal male and places she'd like to go on a date, etc.? Even though we see the story through her eyes, I didn't feel that we got to know her very well. She's a little distracted, lacks confidence, and just seems very naive. Which is why I didn't really buy the relationship between her and Liam. He is supposedly a confident and suave man of the world, and his instalove for her seemed a little to unbelievable.
All in all, I enjoyed the book, but I felt it might have been a little more fun if it were fleshed out more. A little more character development, plus a little more focus on the reality show would have rounded things out nicely.

What do you do when you are trying to celebrate that the love you outgrew finally moved on?

Don't go to the wedding, or all sorts of chaos might follow!

Lucy's efforts to find a future for her own love and dating life are an hilarious hot mess. I enjoyed readin an advance copy.

Dastardly dames with ego killing snid remarks, crazy stalker with loads of determination- enough to be mostly funny, but a little scary. Rich bad boy who doesn't follow the rules, teases with love, the runs away. Romantic chaos!

Thank goodness for a few good friends and a great sense of humor!

If you like a good laugh along with romance, this book's not to be missed!

I listened to this book while working on a little project and enjoyed it over all. I am not sure how realistic it was in terms of it being set as a reality type show but it was sweet and clean. Love turns up in the most unlikely places but nothing really resolves until the very end. I kinda think Lucy was too nice to her stalker-ish ex boyfriend. Just sayin. And I think what happens on the last couple of pages of the book might have been a rather rushed decision but perhaps the author felt that was needed to ensure the happily ever after. It is a simple story for a quick easy read.

I was given this book in exchange for volunteering to write a review.

I received a free copy, but I am voluntarily reviewing this book.
I really enjoyed reading this book! The characters seemed so real and the story line is very believable. I had a hard time putting this book down because I wanted to keep reading it to find out what happens to the characters. In a sense, I felt like I knew them.
This book also really showed the differences on how men and women think. For ex: between Liam and Lucy, he was giving her space but she felt deserted and rejected.
I really, really liked how the story ended for each and every character. It gave the closure that you need and also threw in a few surprises.
Loved this book and would recommend it to everyone.

I really liked it

Lucy and her clingy ex… She can’t deal with him and his declaration of love. But in the small town she lives in, that proves to be impossible. So she runs away, to Scotland, where she is going to participate in a TV show ‘The Love Programme’.

Lucy now has three men in her life: her ex Marcus who refuses to be ignored, her programme date Isaac who has to date all three participating women, and the Laird Liam who is off-limits. Well, you’ll have to read it for yourself to find out the rest :)

It was different. I really liked it. It had a good vibe. I enjoyed it!

Lucy goes to her obsessed ex boyfriend/ childhood sweethearts wedding thrilled that he’s finally moved on! When he stops the wedding to declare his undying love to Lucy she’s basically run out of town! She ends up in Scotland as a last minute replacement on a show about dating. Two other women and one man are the other contestants all trying to figure out what they want in a partner. While staying in the lairds castle she finds herself attracted to him. Her ex tracks her down and wants to take her home. I won’t say anymore and spoil it for u. But it was a funny, quirky, and totally delightful read. I highly recommend this quick read. I look forward to reading more from this author!

Scotland, a Laird, and camera's. Oh my!

When your ex declaims his love for you from the alter at HIS wedding, it's time to get out of town! Lucy jumps at the chance to be a last minuet replacement on a reality tv show being filmed at a Scotish estate. The shows premise is to teach her what she wants in a relationship. It's not her "date" Issac who catches her eye but off limits Laird Liam.
This is a fun, lighthearted, British romance, that I truly enjoyed. If you read Katie Fforde, Jenny Colgan, or Jill Mansell you"ll LOVE MAGGIE FOX!

This is a great book. I could not put it down until I finished it. It is well written, fast pace, fun, a good clean read (which is very important to me because bad language adds nothing to a good story) great characters, beautifully described landscape (Scotland) and a few surprise twist thrown in. Read! Read and enjoy!!!! I almost forgot, I received a copy of this book for a voluntary honest review. Enjoy!!

Cozy Modern Scottish Romance
This is a clean, cozy modern Scottish romance. The plot is basic and a little predictable. The major characters are fun and fairly well developed. The minor characters, not so much. This book really made me want to visit Scotland. This is the first of this author’s work that I’ve read and I will read more. I received a free copy of this book (ARC) and voluntarily chose to share my honest review.

I received this book as a gift and have voluntarily reviewed cause it was just so good! The characters were so vibrant, they felt like old friends. The plot was superbly cheesy and yet somehow perfectly endearingly real. There were no stupidly over-the-top dramatic situations, nor were there hopelessly and irredeemably flawed characters - from start to end, this was an entertaining read that felt within the realm of reality. Also, the author writes with a beautiful voice for romantic comedy!

Light hearted Escape

So I was a little unsure about this book because it seemed preposterous. I mean really an obsessed ex and then the main character chooses to go on a reality tv show? However, this book was extremely well written. It was innovative, quirky and for some reason made me want to revisit Scotland! Great fun escape romance and I will be checking out her other books.

Sweet love story

This is such a sweet story! The characters are fun and the perfect ending. While some of the details are far-fetched, the premise of a romance novel shines through. I appreciate that the author kept Moving On a clean story, so much so that I would not hesitate to lend it to my young teenage nieces.

Wonderful

Wonderfully written. I really loved this book. Awesome story line. Very creative. Would have preferred Lucy and Liam to have stayed at the wedding, for him to get to know Fiona a little. A proper proposal would have been nice also. Glad he didn't just assume though.

I would say more like 3.5. This book was cute and I liked it but there were times I felt it got wordy, and maybe a little choppy- going from one situation to the next. It had a great ending though and was enjoyable. I would recommend this book and I love that it’s clean.

Fun romance

Great setting in Scotland with interesting characters and an interesting storyline. A real life TV show being filmed at a Scottish mansion. I enjoyed the descriptions of the area as well as all of the hidden romances going on in this story.

Moving on. This was a very good read! It was a good clean romance story. Three people agreeing to go on a TV Show trying to understand love and making it work in a relationship. Lucy agrees only to get away from her ex-boyfriend who is stalking her. She meets the Laird and finds him irresistible but complicated. All kinds of things happens to Lucy while she is trying to find control of her life and maybe even find love. This is a must read book! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***
