The same methods I [teach] my workshop audiences are in this book. These methods have successfully enabled thousands of my workshop attendees to receive Divine messages. My workshop audience members come from every conceivable age group, nationality, education and income level, and race. They are from Protestant, Catholic, New Thought, Mormon, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, agnostic, and countless other backgrounds. Just like my workshops, this book is for all faiths, because God sends messages and angels to everyone.
This is a good book for those wanting to discover the manner in which they feel most comfortable receiving information from Spirit, whether they are consciously aware of it or not. Included within are assessments to help the reader determine their 'Divine Communication Style', which are followed by exercises that one may use to strengthen her/his abilities in each style.
A very detailed book on connecting with the Divine. Plenty of exercises and meditations to provide you the connection that you need to understand the difference between your own mind-speak and that of the Divine. Love it!
I liked the exercises very much in the book though it’s a very brief section. I found this to be pretty surface level. I’d consider myself intermediate and not beginner so this wasn’t very helpful for me, but great for someone on a beginner level. To date this is the best Doreen Virtue book I’ve ever read... which says something about my opinion of her books lol. She’s clearly just not my jam but I got these books so feel obligated to finish them.
If I were to sum this book up, just define five terms of the various clair-senses, and talk a whole lot about loving thoughts connecting to angels and god and ego is evil and LIES!!!!!!!! There, saved you several hours.
Pretty disappointed in who she’s turned into lately as well. Oh well, we all have our journeys!
This book definately clarified terms and concepts of hearing from God, but there was no set boundaries in areas that there must be for spiritual safety. In the author's inclusiveness she enters grey areas that are not healthy from the Christian viewpoint. From my point of view her focus was on the personal training to hear and less on a relationship God that leads to hearing from him. As well she almost treats God and angels as equals and that is not biblically true. It did give technical information that I was hoping for but I had to weed it out from unsound practices.
A decent introduction to trusting your intuition and tuning into higher guidance. However, considering the author's religious conversion and rejection of her entire body of work, I would not recommend her books. There are other contemporary authors that write about spiritual guidance, intuition, clairs, angels etc that I would recommend instead. Try: Kyle Gray, Cyndi Dale, Tanya Carroll Richardson, Rosemary Ellen Guiley, the Angelspeake books, Elizabeth Clare Prophet, Calista, Radleigh Valentine, Laura Lynne Jackson, Melanie Beckler, Yemille Yemoonyah, Pat Longo, Alana Fairchild, Sophy Burnham, Sonja Choquette, Janice T Connell, Kit Chestney, Amanda R Edwards, Sterling Moon. Plenty of other options besides these as well, I'm sure. To be clear, I respect the author's choice to choose another path and think its best to respect her wishes and leave her work alone when there are other people that are actively teaching and practicing the spiritual practices and metaphysical principles discussed in this book.
The late, great George Carlin once said, "If you are going to believe in angels, you might as well go for the zombie/Bigfoot package as well."
In other words, many people will approach this book with a healthy dose of skepticism and bemusement. Many will then be surprised by helpful this book is. Virtue takes a universalist-approach, so any representation of higher power that one believes in can apply her methods (although Christians will probably find this the most palatable.) These meditations, which have you asking an all-loving, ever-present higher power to protect and guide you, will have you stopping this book--not because it's too silly or too 'woo-woo' to continue (though just enough 'woo-woo' to keep your ears piqued) to go work on some art project you had started years ago and were too intimidated or scared to finish.
Picked this book up for shits and giggles while staying at a house that had it on its bookshelf. Shouldn't be surprised that it was not for me. 2 stars because someone else may get something more from it than I did.
Excellent. Great advice in a refreshingly non-condescending manner...I'm eager to try the exercises and meditation techniques that Doreen taught in this book.
Additionally, it was pleasant getting to know the author as an individual. I finished the book both pleased that I had gotten to know bits and pieces of her story and wishing for more. I felt like I had become acquaintances with a new friend. I'm still itching for more! I can't wait to check out more by this author.
I keep forgetting to buy a copy of this and therefore I'm frequently @ the library requesting a search 4 it 4 me! I really enjoyed reading other people's testimonies! Gives u a sense of how big life can be!
