HER HEART'S PROMISE :SWEET HEARTS OF SWEET CREEK
by Carolyne Aasten
Nadine wanted answers, a letter no return address on the envelope, six years have passed. As a love interest, her boss didn't notice her, only her two sisters. While her grandmother keep parading guys home. Would she ever find a guy who could negotiate the way her grandmother did. Until 1 boyfriend, and the wedding would she move back to her own home. Nadine was beyond herself and coming home, to find things had once again been
changed. A delightful look at a romance, readers will enjoy and hopeful it will continue with more about Nadine.

Ending was grrr!

mild spillers. I am a little mad. I loved the story and the challenges the characters faced. And the ending just flopped! Seriously, the whole hype about the company suing them and the article getting released was a huge part of this story and there wasn't even a epilogue to say the company got what was coming to them. And what was up with kicking grandma out of the house as their first, FIRST thing she wanted to do when they got engaged! Just ugh! Clean romance

I truly loved this story. It had everything that makes a good story great. It was well written and it had the perfect mix of strong, moral beliefs without being too preachy. I loved that I could read the story without having to worry about coming across foul language or sex scenes that I didn't have an interest in reading. It is not always easy to find a book that is has such a great storyline without the author feeling they need to add something scintillating.

Nadine had to give up a lot in her life after her father's death and then her mother's death. She had worked tirelessly to find the truth about her father's death, believing that he wasn't at fault, but that his employer had caused his death and then covered it up. For six years, she searched for details that would help to prove her case. Her job as editor at the local newspaper, helped her to air her concerns about Skyline, the company her father had worked for at the time of his death. That also meant that she continued to butt heads with her new boss, Clint Fletcher.

Clint had dated Nadine's younger sister years ago but had always been fascinated with Nadine. She was smart and beautiful but she had always felt that she was the plain older sister compared to her younger, much more beautiful sisters. She had never considered that she would ever have a possibility of winning Clint's affections. She used her sarcasm and wit as a defensive mechanism with Clint. She could never let him know how she really felt about him. He was a good man with strong Christian beliefs. Just the type of man she had always wanted in her future.

Nadine's meddling grandma kept trying to set her up with men of her choice, driving Nadine crazy. Grandma also lived with Nadine because she could keep a closer eye on her that way, even though she owned a home not too far away. She needed a "fake boyfriend" to convince her grandmother that she was moving on with her life. But when that fake boyfriend turned out to be real, would she finally find what she had always wanted?

I received this book as a gift and am glad I took the time to read it.

I have not come across a book of Carolyne Aarsen's that I haven't liked. I liked this book very much.

Nadine has a number of things going on in her life-2 sisters that she believes are more attractive than she, a mystery of her father's death and the company he worked for, a grandmother living with her while trying to play matchmaker and a new boss who happens to be someone she has had a crush on for years. It is all of these things that kept me turning pages over and over. It was a hard book to put down.

Like all of Ms. Aarsen's books, this is a good, clean, romance with characters who have strong moral characters. I would recommend this book and this series to anyone who doesn't need foul language and intimate behavior to enjoy a good romance.

Getting to the truth or is love more important?

Nadine's father died in a logging accident. The company he worked for claimed he did not do his job as he should have and this caused his accident. Nadine worked at a newspaper office and had written several articles through the years about this company and their underhanded ways. The company threatened to sue many times. Nadine's boss, Clint asked her to stop writing about them. Clint and Nadine were in love with each other. Could she stop when she had just been handed information about the real cause of her fathers death? You've got to read this it is so interesting and nail bitting!

Good story! I just wanted more.

Nadine is a single woman who is editor of the local newspaper. Her new boss is a man she has crushed on for years even though he broke her sister Laurie's heart when he broke up with her. But Nadine is a troubled young woman. He father died in a work accident and her family never thought they got the truth about the accident. Her mother died six months ago with ALS and her grandmother has moved in with her and is constantly playing matchmaker.. I definitely wanted an epilogue.

Nadine was on a mission to discover how her father died and was reporting in the paper about the company he worked for and they were getting bad press. They came to Clint and threatened a lawsuit if Nadine continued on her course. Clint loves Nadine and is torn between what to do - side with Nadine and uncover the story or bow out to the company so his newspaper does not get sued. Clint and Nadine finally confess their feelings for each other. Nadine realizes she is biased against the company and turns over the story to another reporter.

This is the second book in the Sweet Hearts of Sweet Creek series but can be read as a stand alone novel. This book captured my attention from the first chapter. Carolyn Aarsen writes a clean faith filled story with some interesting twists about two individuals who have secretly cared for each other for years but because of misunderstandings and timing never became a couple. The story is engaging and I would have read it in one sitting if only I had the time

Nadine is such a strong character in this book. She has survived both of her parents dying. Her dad's death in a logging accident still haunts the reporter today. She is overcome with trying to find out what happened to her dad and to try to move on with her life which is sometimes overcome with bitterness.. It was nice to see how the story ends and her faith in God and love. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Love that is constant

This was a very well written story. Nadine and Clint were enjoyable characters and I loved their story. The chemistry between the characters was great. I liked that they both had a relationship with God that made them make better decisions. The only problem I had was some of the secondary characters and issues seemed unresolved at the end. Overall I recommend to anyone wanting a sweet romance.

I laughed, smiled and almost had tears in my eyes. It was a beautiful story mixed with godly principles. Although I could tell what would be of Trace and Clint, it was still beautiful to read.
I would have preferred that the author chose a more formal or informal style of writing, not mixed. There were a few grammatical errors. Overall, it was very engaging and filled with so much phrases to highlight.

Young woman is competent newspaper editor, has a strong sense of faith and her purpose is to uncover how her father has died. Keeps to herself--building a barrier of competence.

Attracted to the editor of the paper since high school when he dated her sister. Sister and he broke up is attracted to her.

Very faithful to her church and religion. honor, commitment,
Major other character is her grandmother who is matchmaking.

Let go of the anger

Second book in this series, as we return to Sweet Creek. Nadine has been trying to prove that her Father's death was not his fault, for six years now. Her anger for Skyline, the company he worked for, shows in every article she writes for the newspaper she is editor at. Plus her new boss, Clint was her crush for so many years, and now he is back in town. Will her quest to find the truth make her give up on everything she wants?

This overtly Christian story features great, complex characters.
The two main characters have pretty sad backstories.
They knew each other in the past... and carry over misunderstandings and misinformation from that time to their new relationships as newspaper owner and editor.

There are so many things going on, though that would spoil the fun if divulged here. You really need to read this one yourself. :)
It focuses on love, forgiveness, family, and trust.

I enjoyed this story of Nadine and Clint.I believe Clint was my favorite. He was so patient with Nadine and had her back through the entire story. Nadine had some real hangups she couldn't let go of, and they effected her decisions and her personality. She was constantly compared to her beautiful and talented twin sisters all of her life for one and she had no self esteem. It turned out to be a great second chance story for both Nadine and Clint

A reporter is always a reporter and our reporter heroine is thus compelled to investigate the mysterious death of her father even if it means dedicating her life to it. There is a second plot that revolves around the grandmother who is determined to find her granddaughter a husband.
Well-written with good character studies. Easy reading

Good Read!

Author Carolyne Aarsen wrote with humor and warmth, making her character's come alive. Nadine's grandmother was a hoot with her constantly trying to find Nadine a boyfriend. With her sisters, boss, Clint and trying to find out what happened at her father's fatal accident, it had a lot going on. Really enjoyed this author.

Absolutely loved this book, the characters were wonderful, adored Nadine's meddling grandma, lot's of highs and lows with the story. The tall poppy's of the business world who think they can bully the little guy's. Interesting and lot's of laughs throughoutthe book. Wonderful reading, found it hard to put down, just wanted to continue until the end. ❤❤❤

Not quite as good as Homecoming...

A good story, yet felt it was left unfinished. I just enjoyed the first book so much better that it was hard to like this one as much. Naddy was sweet and Clint seemed a dream. I wanted to punch Trace, didn't trust him from the get go. Grandma got on my nerves. In not sure I'll finish the series.

I enjoy Carolyne Aarsen's books, but I didn't think this one was as good as some of her other books. In this story, Nadine wants to run a story about an accident that happened to her father in the newspaper for which she writes. Clint, the paper's general manager, has liked Nadine for years, but he doesn't want to run the article because of pressure he has been receiving from outside sources. I enjoyed watching the two main characters work out their differences.

They had circled each other for years, having their own relationships, but still having their heart and minds on the other.
Now, with a new venture, perhaps they can make the steps necessary to consolidate their bond.
However, their are a few potholes in their road, so it's definitely going to take some skill to navigate to where they both want to be.

Searching for answers can sometimes take control of your life.

While seeking the truth is a good thing it can become an obsession that takes presidence over all else. Nadine is letting that happen to her. How can she let this matter go when it means so much to her? An intriguing story that will come full circle with answers of its own.

The book gently reminds us to seek God's will first in our lives, then what we truly want will be given to us. The love story is beautifully written. You will want to re-read books by Carolyne Aarsen.

It's in God's Hands

As usual, Carolyne has written a thoughtful, heartwarming romance with a Christian flair. Things may not work out as the characters think they should but, God's hand can be felt in all that happens.

Truth

What is Nadine suppose to do when she needs to get the truth out about a company when you are a reporter & editor for a small town paper. Clint come back to run his uncle's measly & works with the girl of his dreams.

A great story for television.

Clint and Nadine are the best characters for this story. This story flowed very nicely and had the best ending. I liked the setting in the mountains with the snow and the promise of good weather to come.

Not my favorite

This is a hood story and I’m not going to say anything negative about it. I just couldn’t get into the story, feel the characters like I usually can with a Aarsen story. It’s well worth reading and my review is only my personal reaction. I couldn’t relate.
