Claudio Paul Sanchez III (born March 12, 1978, in Suffern, New York, United States) is an American writer and musician of Puerto Rican and Italian descent best known for being the lead singer and guitarist for the alternative/progressive rock group Coheed and Cambria. He is the creator of the comic book series The Amory Wars, as well as Key of Z and Kill Audio, both co-written with wife Chondra Echert. Sanchez co-authored the novel Year of the Black Rainbow with Peter David.

As a long time fan of Coheed and a person who purchased the original graphic novel adaptation of Good Apollo over a decade ago, it is nice to finally read a more coherent adaptation of the material!

I'm not impartial

I like Coheed and Cambria, and their music makes more sense with the Amory Wars. The music is better, but that's expected. This is the first four chapters in this collection, but there are two prior series that happen before Good Apollo and are pretty important. Start with Second Stage Turbine Blade, then read In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3, and maybe Year of the Black Rainbow (Its not in graphic format). Or listen to the album's of the same name, there are quotes ripped from the songs out into the books; trying to put together a puzzle is fun without all the answers.

Is the story cheesy? No doubt. It starts pretty shaky and much cheesier, but it got noticeably better each collection... And maybe that same cheesy feeling holds a place in my heart. If that isn't your thing, you might be able to skip STTB and get enough background from IKSSE:3 to read this, but it won't be the same ride.

Did i know what was going on?..... honestly not fully, but i get the gist (I'd read from the beginning if i could find the other volumes).

was i entertained? YES.

was i highly entertained seeing the band name and the album title in the book?....also YES.

did i stop reading multiple times to listen to tracks off the album based on this? Hell Yes.

am i a Coheed and Cambria fan?.... ABSOLUTELY... they're my favorite band next to Ghost. I'm biased. I picked this book up at a coheed and cambria show. if you're a coheed fan it's worth a read to get the references. i was reading and suddenly i see the words House Atlantic and my brain just goes "here's some serotonin" and now A Favor House Atlantic is stuck in my head.

Another high quality read from the great Claudio Sanchez. Based off / inspiring the epic album of the same title - this collection was a long awaited catch for me, over 10 years in waiting! The art is sound throughout and the story retells a tale I am already quite found of. However... it feels like not much happens. Across the four issues / chapters it felt as if only one thing really happened and it was over in a page or two. The reveal of Ten Speed, love of the story and concept, and quality art lock this in at a solid four.

The series takes a slide back after the conclusion of In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3. That includes both the art (which has a weird airbrushed quality that makes it look cheap and the story which introduces the Writer and that meta aspect hamstrings the stroy in the early going. I'm curious to see where it goes, but it makes the first volume a bit of a slog.

I didn’t really like these ones. Ryder was a character who came out of nowhere. I thought I had missed a book when I started this one. Didn’t like how it ended and didn’t like the illustrations as much. A lot more song tie ins though.

Entertaining and fast

Very quick read, very entertaining. The whole fourth wall thing is confusing here though. No idea why I had Ryder needlessly annoying me in the story.
