Though it's just a mere 20 pages, Anna Haifisch's Drifter packs a lot in. Influenced by a short stay in Linz, Austria, Haifisch contextualizes the loneliness of that period of her life with visual poetry. Melancholy permeates through the pages of Drifter, with an undercurrent of love and wistfulness to keep the narrative from being completely dour. It's poignant work and coupled with the splendid colors that pop from the riso printed pages, Drifter is just a work of art. A gorgeous, short comic that will linger with the reader for quite some time.
