Ανάμεσα στην εκμετάλλευση και το έγκλημα, τα παιδιά αυτά δεν έχουν καμία άλλη επιλογή…

I read this for preparation as my role as Oliver in my high school production. I know know the basics of the plot. This Classics Illustrated wasn't very engaging and the drawings are very plain. It seemed very rushed. Many scenes passed by in one panel. The narration was poor. I do not recommend it for any purpose other than mine.

A great way to get into Dickens if you're averse to the somewhat prolix original. And the illustrations are much better the Cruikshank!

This was a well-executed graphic novel version of the story. Of course, it does not hold a candle to the descriptive voice of Dickens, or the sense of accomplishment in finishing an enormous tome (seriously, did he get paid by the word?).

I know Dickens is beloved by readers of good taste but I never quite felt THAT English perhaps. More tea and coal smoke is probably in order.
