The stakes are higher than ever for Devi Lawson...
Former celestial soldier Devi Lawson is now working for the warlocks, but the fragile peace between the celestials and the preternaturally gifted rests on a knife's edge.
When a mysterious demonic virus sweeps across the city, turning vampires and celestials alike into bloodthirsty killers, it's up to Devi to work with the enigmatic and dangerous warlock Nikolas to discover the cause before the city is overrun. But with power forces shifting in the demonic realms and the shadows of old enemies pursuing them, it becomes clear that everyone is keeping secrets, none more so than Nikolas himself. To survive and protect those she cares about, Devi must embrace her terrifying new demonic powers, at the risk of losing her soul to the netherworld...

This is the second book in the Celestial Marked series—one that should be read in order—and it's just if not more exciting than the first.
Devi's life is still turned upside down from her last adventure, and she has not yet come to terms with being a member of the warlocks, being out of the celestial guild or even her handling her own double marks, one demon and the other celestial. But then, life around her hasn't settled either. Vampires with strange abilities and a desire to kill are on the loose, and the infected Celestials aren't any better. It appears that demons from another realm are somehow involved in the new mess, but evidence isn't conclusive and all clues seem to lead to dead ends. With innocent people dying and the infection spreading, Devi has to find a way to figure it all out or lose her life, and maybe the entire realm's existence, in the process.
Although this book starts out with a 'calmer' atmosphere of clue searching—only a couple life threatening battles occur—the plot soon twists into action non-stop. Devi has a lot on her plate, and her desire to keep evil at bay despite her own problems makes her fun to root for. She jumps into situations without a seconds thought, but only because she's so determined to save innocent lives. Her powers and fighting skills are amazing, but they don't always let her have the overhand. She needs the help of her friends, and even learns from them as she goes.
The mystery is twisted and layered well enough that it's impossible to guess who the true bad guy is. And Devi has to fight for every step on her way to solving not only the mystery but learning more about herself. There's a constant tension, and the inter-play between the demon worlds and her own adds all sorts of fun to the mix. Several demons get more of a character in this book, and I can't wait to see what happens to them from here.
The romance is a tough one, building slowly on friendship and trust. It's a rocky road and definitely sits in the backseat of the tale, but adds a nice spice to the characters.
Fans of kick-butt heroines, magic, demons, other worlds, and tons of action are sure to enjoy this one. I got through this in one sitting and can't wait for the next installment to come out because Devi isn't done yet.
I received a complimentary copy and loved it reading it so much that I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.
No realm is safe anymore. Devi is now feeling like an outcast, cooperating with warlock, hiding her secrets from the celestial guild, and investigating horror murders on her own. News of vampire cure have flooded the Haven together with strange bloodstones, but instead of cure, death and madness spreads across the streets. Accompanied by Niko and Rachel, Devi crosses the nether realm to get answers and fight desperate battles for truth and salvation. Demonic nature is a pretty clear issue, but how about half-bloods and the tainted? The story directly points out that the world is not black and white, and who we are is based on our decisions and morals. Devi night be a reckless hothead, passionate and stubborn, but her moral compass is unwavering even when she is expectes to embrace the darkness. No powers can sway her astray.. maybe her own stupidity, but that's a different story. She is a likeable heroine, and the hints of her possible romantic involvement creates very comforting tension. The story is also full of action and violent scenes, infernal magic, and weird creatures. Though twisting the generally used facts about supernaturals certainly has its perks and counts as an asset for this book.
The second installment of this series was as action-packed and delved deeper into conspiracies and flawed human beings! I loved leaning more about Devi's past with her partner and what made her leave the hunters.
The continued slow-burn with Nikolas was awesome and great, and nothing felt forced or anything. Their relationship is moving at a realistic place for everything going on. I also loved learning more about Nikolas and where he comes from.
The action in this book is great. There isn't too little, and there isn't too much. The book is equal parts character development, plot, action, romance, and adventure. The pacing of the novel is great. Nothing ever drags or lasts too long--again with the Goldie Locks. It was all done pretty well.
The one thing I was confused about was Devi's relationship with her past partner. I didn't understand if it was ever sexual in nature, if she was dating him, or if they were just best friends.
Everything with the detective was just icing on the cake as the conspiracy keeps unveiling. The deeper we get with the plot and these characters, the more twisted it becomes.
I really enjoyed this book I can not wait for the next one I like that the romance is slow building and not in your face there are some areas of the book that seem rushed however overall it is an amazing world building and cool take on the paranormal. Div is a fun character who is just a bit confused and that makes her more likeable she jumps head-on into what she thinks is right and is willing to stand up for what she believes in she really came to terms with her other powers in this book and I can not wait to see how they evolve in the next book.
The problem is the 2nd mark on the other arm. The first was placed by the Divinity, when she asked for help in the other dimension, after killing the demon there, the 2nd appeared. It may be the cause in the change to her aura. However, the initial threat although dealt with (Celestrial Magic) the rouge bloodstones were still being circulated and "The cure" , seemed to be sending vampires and newly turned manic. They needed to get to the root cause of it all, and things started to heat up fast.
His is the second book in the Celestial series is it just keeps getting even better. I already want the third book. This book answers a lot of questions regarding Devi, her powers, and some answers about her marks. I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes books by Ms. Adams, but I'd recommend to anyone who just wants to read a great new series that is different and full of action. I love this new series.
Emma Adams takes you on a fast moving and fun adventure in a world that is based on our own but that has Vampires and Demons and Warlocks walking amongst the average human. The Celestreals fight to keep the Earth from being overrun by the Demons. The action is very fast paced and you have to root for the lead female Devi to win the day with strength, valor, quick thinking and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review* I enjoyed the second book in the Celestial Marked series as much as the first. Devi finally gains some closure regarding her partners death and what she became that day. There is also more information and closure regarding where the demon virus infecting the celestials started and why. I am excited for the 3rd book and finding out what favor Devi will end up having to pay to a certain warlock that helped her. :)
I've really been enjoying reading Emma's books and this one is no exception.
If you're a fan of angels and demons drama and magic you'll love this series.
It's pretty mind blowing and there's plenty of violence and some adult scenes and plenty of jumping back and forth between settings. It's very easy to follow and I eagerly await the next release.
Lots of action. I like the fact that the relationship between Nikola and Devi is changing to a more romantic one with no rush. Each book is captivating and from beginning to end well my attention alive. I highly recommended it. Looking forward to book 3,
Awesome addition to the first book. Wish there was a tiny bit more romance but tons of adventures and action. Great sequel to the first book and can't wait for the next book.
I have enjoyed this series. I love the characters and the plot. The first book was awesome. The only reason I didn't give this one five stars is because it was a little boring at first with the recap but I still can't wait for the next one.
Celestial Fire is a great continuation of the Celestial Marked Series. The Author does a fabulous job of keeping the reader engaged from start to finish. This is a must read series for all supernatural thriller fans.
Definitely for fans of demon hunting and supernaturals. The series is action packed, and the heroine is dangerous and fun. This series is a refreshing take on angels and demons and all in between. Worth a read. Can't wait for the next book!
This is an awesome series. Good versus evil Celeste deal Warriors against demons and sometimes the lines turn gray. Great cast of characters plenty of action Supernatural multiple rounds and you can’t beat it. Check them out
Another great book that continues the series in a way that leaves you having to have the next book. Devi is such a wonderful character, one you will love and I can relate to. I loved the drama and the mystery.
Devi has realised the magic of her two marks. As demons threaten to descend on the human realm, Devi uncovers the plot from within the guild. I like the series, would recommend it.
The saga continues and the characterisation and story remain strong. I shall read the next instalment. My only criticism is the main character needs to be a little flawed in order to sustain likeability.
