I absolutely love this series. I have complained about some of the recent volumes being a bit too serious, with this one I feel like the author found the perfect balance between comedy and drama.
I rarely give a book five stars but while reading this volume I felt like this was a book I could keep reading forever without getting bored, so it's well deserved.
A Sister’s All You Need vol. 8 contains an interesting issue relating to the anime business, how can a leak impact the marketing of an anime adaptation for a light novel! Apparently this was a somewhat of a meta issue with the author when the anime adaptation for A Sister’s All You Need was leaked back in 2017, dubbed the ‘Sister Leaks’. You may think nothing about a leak for an anime, or a video game, except perhaps excitement, but it really does make a difference to the studio producing the anime and to the original author, as they can lose potential money generated from the planned marketing, but from the abrupt leak this can lead to serious losses because there’s nowhere to turn for additional info unless on websites separate from the official website or news feeds related to the studio and author.
Besides the meta related leak, that causes a ripple effect throughout the volume, there’s are chapters where our group of friends, Itsuki, Chihiro, Nayuta, Miyako and Haruto, play a board game where the player needs to obtain as many girlfriends for their imaginary harem (lmao); Chihiro discovers a sex toy in Ashley Ono’s apartment, without any knowledge what it is; and a trip to the Hakone onsen to not just cure Itsuki’s haemorrhoids, but to spend quality time with his girlfriend Nayuta, our silver haired, sex-obsessed prominent author.
If you haven’t read the last several volumes of this series by now than you may have misunderstood the whole situation in this review and it has nothing do with little sisters but comedy gold for dirty humour and a slice of life in the light novel industry!
