A woman from the present . . . A man from the past . . . A war to defy all odds. Olivia Blake loves her job. Restoring art and discovering the history behind it is a regular--and well loved--part of her simple life. So, when her boss presents her with a damaged portrait of a British soldier from the American Revolution, she jumps at the chance to work on it. When her journey to discover who the man was is cut short by a bad car accident, Olivia surfaces in the icy waters of the Delaware River, staring at George Washington as he crosses with his army. Panicked, she flees into the woods and right into the arms of a very surprised British soldier--the man from the painting. **** August Bancroft has no idea that the woman he saved from the American Rebels is from the future, or that the man who traveled through time with her is not their friend. All he knows is that he feels compelled to protect her, even if it means sacrificing his honor in the end. Torn by the political leanings of the time and his own personal beliefs, August struggles to find what freedom means for him. Threats lurk close by, though, and there is no time to argue when danger reveals itself.

Time travel is one of my all time favorite genres in fiction and this certainly lived up to expectation.
The historical detail in it is incredible. American history is one I'm very sketchy on and I know nothing about the wars beyond the basics. I've learned a huge amount from this book. The battle scenes are wonderfully done as are the descriptions of wounds received in battle and just how little chance a soldier had of recovering from them.
There is a lovely romance but it almost takes second place behind the war and battles.
One gripe I did have was that it ended so abruptly. I couldn't believe it when I went to the next page and nothing. I would have liked a bit more here on the outcome of the travel.
This is the first book I've read by this author but it certainly won't be the last!

I absolutely LOVED this book. The author has definitely found her niche in writing time travel romances. I have read a majority of Kamery Solomon's work including all of her time travel works and she just keeps getting better and better with each slip through the timeline and with each new romance.

I am looking forward to reading the second part to this two book duet. Especially after that ending!

Historical time travel excitement during American Revolution

Olivia is an amazing painting conservationist....she helps bring old paintings that have been faded or torn back to life...her latest painting takes her breathe away....a man that makes her heart beat just a little faster. She has no clue who he is...all she can sense is the month August 1777 as a clue. His eyes seem to be telling a story she longs to hear....but who the check is he? Since her parents perished a few years back on Christmas night, work has become her safe haven. For once she resents to the pleas of her best friend and goes to dinner with the family. On her way home she almost hits someone on the bridge. In shock she stomps on her brake only to be rear ended straight into the frigid waters below. All that runs through her mind is she will soon join her parents, and will never learn who the mystery man in the painting was. Little did she know....next thing she knows she's being pulled from the water by some Brita in period clothing. What he check was going on? As minutes go by, she realizes there are no street lights or modern things at all. Unless this is one amazing reinaction....is she going crazy? After all, what she's thinking couldn't possibly be true.....she's in the middle of the American Revolution!!! Take this ride with Olivia and see her finally meet her mystery painting man...and that's only the very beginning of this wonderous tale. I for one am really looking forward to book two coming out....be warned, there IS one doozy of a cliffhanger.

I love Historical Time Travel books and this one did not disappoint!! Olivia is a present day painting restorer who does research on the paintings as well. She is mesmerized by a painting of a Revolutionary War soldier. Before finding out much about him, she is in a wreck and transported back to southeastern PA during the Revolutionary War. I won't say any more about the story.. but, I have to say, Ms Solomon did a great job on her research for this story. So well, that I was transported right back in time with Olivia. Awesome story, characters, plot, and setting.

I love reading time travel. I really enjoyed this book and just got the second book because I can't wait to see what happens to Olivia and August. This has been one of my favorite time travel romance books in some time.

I love this book! I came to read it because of how much I love her other series (Swept Away) and thought I would give this one a try. It's not as good as that series but it's good! Specifically for those of us who love history, as I do.

A good one.

This is one of the better time travel historical novels I have read. It is not too far fetched and the characters are put into believable situations.

I absolutely loved this time-travel romance!!

Olivia goes back in time, far enough back that she is in the middle of the American Revolutionary War. She is American after all and knows what the outcome will be. But she meets a guy....

August is a soldier for the British Army. (The British lost for those that don't know.) He is just trying to do right by his country.... and his heart at the same time (talk about a conundrum!)

Then something amazing happens... this books is very well written and as accurate as I can tell. The plot is well thought out and the characters feel like you know them. There is enough imagery that you feel like you can see it play in your mind without it feeling like you are trying to re-enact something for a crime show.

Be advised... this ends in a sorta cliffhanger... I mean if you don't want it to then don't read the last few lines and you will be mostly good until the next book comes out. If you like to torture yourself like that then go ahead and read until the end.

Another great read by Solomon!

I think KM has a fan for life in me. It’s clear she does her homework here, guys. And she doesn’t just spew off historical facts in tiring paragraphs that lose the reader. She weaves it into her stories in a way that make you feel like your really there. The heroines of her books are always so intense and multi faceted and face time travel with such admirable courage and smarts. I always find myself looking up to them. I did wish the book was longer. I also wished it had a little more danger for the heroine. Seemed like besides a constant war going on, every single person was decent and had good intentions. I always found myself wondering is this the moment she’s going to be in danger and then.. nothing. Except the ending of course, which I won’t ruin. Maybe that is the start of more action to come. Can’t wait for the next! Also get on that next swept away KS! Other time travel books are trash after reading yours.

A love that not even time could stop... Kamery Solomon has once again created a phenomenal story that had me hooked from page one! I felt like I was completely consumed by Olivia and August’s story, seeing it first hand like a painting, each brush stroke so visible and beautiful. I found myself laughing, crying, blushing, and cheering through each page as the two main characters found each other again and again. Readers will see both character’s perceptions of the world and each other as the story is told from both of their perspectives. I am hooked and I can only hope there is going to be a book 2 very soon because that ending... let’s just say I need more!

I highly recommend this book and author.

Warning: Please ensure you have the next book ready before reading this book.

Kamery is genuinely a master of a killer cliffhanger! The ending to this book will make you want to read the next one immediately.

Having just finished reading the Swept Away saga, I can't help but compare the two stories. Since this book does not have treasure, pirates or magic elements, it relies on a modern understanding of time travel. Both protagonists still are strong women, and their ability to adapt immediately to the era is astounding.

However, the villain or the immediate threat in the story is not as challenging as in Swept away saga. The level of intensity is close to zero, so it's a very light reading for a time-travelling romance book, suitable to be read in your leisure time.

Historical time travel is my favorite genre, which lead me to Kemery's books. The Swept Away series of books are great, but Finding Freedom Is absolutely enchanting. From the very beginning you are captured by Olivia then you are introduced to the extremely handsome August. Kamery has a way of buildings characters so you really know them. The characters alone capture you and keep you enthralled, then add in love, war, desperation and loss you find it hard to put the book down. I couldn't wait to finish the book to kind out Olivia and August's fate, but this is one of those books you wish you were still reading.

Time travel during historical importance has to be difficult to write. I've never been one to follow dates or names of battles but the details were amazing in this story. Olivia is accidentally thrust into a different time period, she adjusts well and finds love. August is a British soldier with a sweet heart and gentlemanly ways, easy for Olivia to fall hard. Solomon gives beautiful details for clothing, language, battle, medical limitations and relationships. She's even left a soft cliffhanger. I've always enjoyed her writing and requested an early copy.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

As always Kamery has written an amazing book. She is so dedicated to her writing. I admire how much she knows and has probably researched in developing the worlds in her books. I loved the story line and character development. The ending was amazing and tied up so well that all I can say is wow. It truly is a great read.

Going back to The Revolution!

Could you change history? Yes you can if you fall in a wormhole! What problems could a 20th century person make when she/he knows their early American history?

It was good! I skipped through most of it tbh...
I loooove historical romance but it was the first one I read set in America! I just felt like the story was rushed. I wish there would have been more development on the characters...

It was good thought! I loooove August ❤️

Loved this book! I was given this book early for review and I couldn’t put it down!

The idea behind this story was captivating. I found myself drawn to Olivia and August.
This accidental time traveler is torn between her desire to maintain the timeline and her attraction to the man who fascinated her before she even met him.

Their story defies time and logic. It draws you in and grabs ahold of your heartstrings.
