Simon Kramer is a managing partner at Street Legal law firm, along with his three life-long buddies, Ronan, Stone and Trevor. The guys’ have recently become aware of a mole in their office, and in an attempt to catch this person out, Simon sets a security trap that leads him to find his assistant, Bette, alone in his office late one Friday night.

At first, Simon’s shocked to consider Bette to be the mole, but when he discovers her leaving her resignation on his desk, while refusing to explain her reasons for leaving the firm, he figures escape is probably the actions of a guilty culprit. But he’s still unsure, especially because Bette has always been a stellar employee and the best assistant he’s ever had, so in an effort to uncover the truth as to whether she’s the mole or not he decides to seduce the truth out of her.

Bette Monroe once escaped a life of small town boredom and conformity, heading to NYC to live out her fashion designer dreams. Unfortunately, professional success was a long time coming for Bette, but she’s finally sold a line of her unique and sexy lingerie to a leading fashion house, so her temporary job working at Street Legal can finally come to an end.

In an effort to avoid confrontation, Bette sneaks into the office one night to leave her notice of resignation on her bosses desk, but when he shows up and starts acting strange, she realises getting out of her job working for this arrogant and demanding man might be harder than she thought.

The fact he’s suddenly flirting with her for the first time in over two years is kind of weird too, but when she thinks about it she realises that the quickest way to get a man like Simon Kramer to dismiss a woman is to show interest, so she promptly throws herself into the task, pulling out all the stops, including her sexy lingerie.

Bette gives as good as she gets, figuring Simon will view her advances as needy and promptly let her go, but what she, or he, are least expecting is for their games of seduction to advance into something intense and much more meaningful than they could have predicted.

I'll be honest and admit that I disliked Simon within a few pages of meeting the guy, and unfortunately for me, I was never won over. I think this had a lot of do with the fact that I experienced this book as a lot of tell and very little show. Simon kept telling the reader that he’d come from a troubled life on the streets and that his professional successes and sexual prowess was something to be awed, but that told me very little about who he was or what his motivations were, and I certainly didn’t experience any kind of emotional response where he was concerned, which was a complete shame.

Thankfully, I liked Bette much more, especially for quitting a job that left her dissatisfied and for actively pursuing her professional dreams, in spite of the unsupportive influences she had growing up. Not many of us have the guts to change things up in our professional lives when things don’t feel right, so to me this was praise worthy stuff. She was ballsy too, sticking up for herself against those who tried to intimidate or judge her throughout the story. I liked all these aspects of her character a great deal, but unfortunately, I felt she succumbed to Simon’s seductions a little too easily when the story kicked off, particularly considering how aware she was of his playboy antics and general treatment of the women he slept with in her time working for him. I guess it helped that she was always mindful of her emotions and the realities of getting involved with someone like Simon. Plus, she seemed to be the one with all the control when they were together, so she didn’t appear to be some mindless pushover for the super-hot guy.

Generally speaking, this was a very easy read. The characters weren’t as fleshed out as I would have liked and even the sex was a little bit too mechanical and less passionate than I would have preferred, but overall this was an engaging read and one that holds promise for future releases.

Bette Monroe is the executive assistant to Simon Kramer, the hottest lawyer in New York... and she's quitting her well-paid job. With a mole in the firm leaking secrets, Simon has to find out if Bette is the one who has compromised them all. Since she won't tell him why she's leaving, he's going to have to make seducing her his personal mission.

Falling for her wasn't part of the plan...

OK, I'm going to say this up front. I'm not fond of the secretary/boss trope. There's a power dynamic at play there I don't care for. Lisa Childs sidestepped a lot of the issues by having Bette in the process of working out her notice, and also being the instigator of much of the sexual content (of which there is a lot, as there is in all these books from Harlequin's new DARE line) but I still had problems with Simon's thought processes and decisions.

I also have to say that Bette was a complete idiot. Why not just tell Simon she was leaving to pursue her dream career? Instead, she thinks "oh no, I'd better seduce him before he seduces me and finds out my Big Secret which is Really Embarrassing" (it wasn't really embarrassing at all). Honestly, I just wanted to shake her and tell her to JUST TELL HIM ALREADY.

But then, that would have pretty much obliterated the entire plot.

This is hot and sexy, and well written, but the heroine got on my last nerve and I didn't care for the power dynamics or the hero's entitled behaviour. I can't give it more than three stars.

Legal Seduction is a lesson in character building. He's the tough guy, with a good head on his shoulders, but a deeply guarded heart. She's the wallflower with big dreams and secret fantasies. Simon and Bette could be a perfect match, if they learn to trust each other. Lisa Childs scorches up the pages with her sensual tango of love lust and mistrust. Love is a risky business and Ms Child's makes the risk worthwhile.

I received Legal Seduction in return for an honest review from the publisher.

Simon is one of 4 managing partners at the legal firm Street Legal and while things should be amazing someone is selling secrets but he's not sure who. When the silent alarm is tripped he rushes off from the bar to see if he can find out who is the mole. What he finds is not what he expected to find.

Bette is ready for a new start away from Street Legal and when she saw her boss at the bar she decided it was the perfect time to leave her resignation letter with her two weeks notice. Determined to find out if Bette is the mole he refuses to just let her go until he knows what secret she is hiding. Over the next two weeks, Simon will do what it takes to find the truth even crossing the line to seduce Bette. Can she make it through the two weeks before Simon breaks down her walls and learns who she really is?

I like Bette she's sweet small town girl in the city doing what she has to do to achieve her dreams. I honestly didn't love Simon at first but as the book progressed he grew on me more and more. They have this steamy undeniable chemistry that just works for the pair. This is my first book by the author and I enjoyed her writing style it's fast-paced, loaded with steamy moments and just enough story that I couldn't put it down. The characters are easy to connect with you can't help falling for Bette and Simon has this dark past. Perfect for those craving a steamy quick romance.

Fast paced, hot sexy read. Simon Kramer believes that the reason his executive assistant is quiting her job is because she has been selling company secrets. Bette hands in her notice and Simon starts seducing her and what follows is a very hot passionate romance that is straight to the point but with a definite heart to the story. Loved it.

Legal Seduction is part of Harlequins' newest brand DARE which features a more erotic spin in a contemporary romance. So in that way it does deliver. Legal Seduction plays on the boss secretary trope wherein the boss happens to be the very street savy and successful, not to mention good looking lawyer, Simon Kramer. When Simon starts to suspect that there is a mole in his law firm he never really thought it could be his ever dependable assistant of two years, Bette Monroe. But then she was suddenly resigning and seems to have gotten some form of financial windfall. The best way to find out the truth? Why seduce her in the next two weeks of course. Technically, he's not her boss anymore and this would be his chance to find out what Ms. Monroe seems to be hiding beneath all her layers. Bette Monroe knows to fall for her boss is the stupidest and most cliche thing you could ever do. Hence her decision to hand in her resignation and let all her dreams soar, including the need to bare all. To make Simon not to make her serve her two week notice is to make sure he knows she's willing to play his game. After all, he needs to show what's underneath that facade as well.
Legal Seduction is hot! Although readers who are in tune with the current sociopolitical climate might not really appreciate the boss/secretary scenario, the author made sure consent is laid out from the get go. Legal Seduction is sexy, funny and does have a bit of a mystery that I guess would be solve in the next books involving the other partners in Simon's law firm.

I was so disappointed by this book. The hero is just a villainous character with no real redemption. He invades Bette's privacy, and can't seem to fathom how a woman might be wealthy, other then by being a mole, a prostitute or someone's mistress.

"He knew why now that he’d gotten a look at her checkbook. She’d made some recent deposits. Some pretty damn good ones. She had to be the mole."

"Maybe she'd sold something something other than that information for their case files. Like her body..."

And when he learns the truth, he just sweeps those assumptions under the rug, and he is never really called out for it. I also did not like how aggressive Ronan is with her, and that is also never really addressed.

Bette Monroe has been working for Simon Kramer for two years, and over those years she’s watched him go through endless women. He’s not interested in commitment, and she’s sent enough flowers on his behalf to prove it. When the lingerie line she’s been designing is picked up by a major store chain, she quits her job.

Simon is gobsmacked by her resignation. While he’s eyed her from afar for two years, he’s never really contemplated making a pass at her for fear of being sued for sexual harassment. The law firm he started with three friends who came from the same bleak childhood he did – living on the streets, conning people for a living – is too important to him to risk jeopardising it with a sexual harassment suit. So he keeps his distance… until he suspects Bette might be the office mole he’s been trying to ferret out. Someone is selling confidential papers from the law firm to a rival firm, and Simon is desperate to stop it.

Since she will no longer be his employee, and since he finds his attraction to her bubbling to the surface, he decides to finally seduce her and see if he can find evidence she is the mole… only to have the tables turned on him by Bette, who seduces him instead. She wants to get out of the two week notice Simon’s forcing her to serve on her contract, and she knows the only way to make that happen is to let Simon think she’s in love with him – because she knows the commitment shy lawyer will let her go.

Except that doesn’t happen. Simon finds himself intrigued by the layers that are Bette… both underneath her clothing and as a person. Bette’s signature on her lingerie are bows that hold the fabric together, and Simon delights in undoing each and every bow he finds. They find themselves unable to resist each other and have lots of hot sex, until they both realise that the game they’re playing with each other is no longer a game.

Bette finds out at her going away party from one of the partners that Simon only seduced her to see if she was the mole, and she gets angry, quite rightly so. She confronts Simon, slaps him, and walks away. Only she’s miserable without him, and when Simon’s three friends rock up to her new apartment and tell her he’s miserable without her, she decides to go see for herself. They kiss and make up on his couch and, since they’re no longer working together, admit they really have fallen in love with each other.

Loved this book, love this new imprint!

For two years Bette has been Simon’s executive assistant and she has watched other women come in and out of his life. She has her reasons for handing in her resignation and it doesn’t mean she has been betraying him.

When Bette hands in her resignation just when he is investigating the employees for sharing company secrets it causes him to question if she is the guilty party.

He has ten days to figure out the truth before her notice is complete and since she is leaving there is no fear of a sexual harassment claim so he decides to seduce the truth out of her. The question is who is seducing who and what happen when she finds out the reason for his sudden interest?

The attraction and chemistry between Bette and Simon had always been bubbling under the service but once they release it the fire erupts but now they just need to overcome the misunderstandings and trust issues that surround them.

I received Legal Seduction as part of a Goodreads giveaway.

Simon Kramer is on top of the world--his firm just won a lucrative lawsuit, despite the leak of important memos by an apparent mole in their midst. In his search for the perpetrator, he runs into his personal assistant, Bette Monroe, creeping around his desk one evening and immediately arousing suspicion...as well as other feelings. For her part, Bette is looking to move on professionally, a move stymied by her handsome boss. As Simon's suspicion wars with his attraction to the alluring Bette, he has to decide whether to trust his head or his heart.

This one was nice--again, the heat was stronger than the plot itself. Which is fine, especially if you're into reading sex scenes. I feel like this is going to be a theme with the DARE series--come for the boning, not the character development or deep plot. Not bad, though--it made for entertaining reading during a long day of travel.

When you read the synopsis of Legal Seduction, you think it's just another boss/assistant romance, but this is far from the truth. Legal Seduction is a fast paced, steamy romance, that leads with Simon Kramer; a high profile attorney and a bit of a man whore. But he is also a man on a mission to find the mole in his law firm, so when his assistant hands in her two weeks notice, he uses the one tool he has at his disposal to make her confess to being the mole!

I was honestly surprised by how good this book was, when I started this book I honestly thought is was going to be like that fluffy movie Two Weeks Notice, but boy it was SO much more. I thought the story line was intense, and although the ending was predictable (well of course, it is a romance), the story the author weaved was addictive.

I give Legal Seduction 4 stars!

Legal seduction is part romance, part mystery and a great deal of what is likely the reason this book falls on the Harlequin Dare line. I received a copy through Barclay Publicity and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Four best friends that came up together living on the streets have made it big as attorneys in a top law firm called Street Law. Each has his own specialization. Simon specializes in contract law and like the others, women. Bette is his assistant. She is turning in her two-week notice right when the owners realize they have a mole who is releasing case information to their competitors in the courtroom.

Simon has been strongly attracted to Bette for the two years that she has been his employee. But, when she gives her notice right in the middle of his investigation into the leaks he has to question whether she is the mole. He will do what it takes to find out if she is the leak and get pretty much what he wants from her in the process. There are parts of the book that I struggled with given recent national news, but, I was willing to give the book a chance and I am glad to say that it does work out in the end as most HEA's do.

Legal Seduction by Lisa Childs
Legal Lovers #1

Simon Kramer was on the street as a child but over time, with the help of his three buddies, the four have managed to get an education and open their own law practice. There is a spy in their midst and Simon is on the lookout for who it might be. Bette Monroe, his personal assistant, seems to be a likely candidate so his intention is to get her to admit it…one way or another…even though she has just tendered her resignation. Bette’s dream is to make it big in fashion and with that a possibility she is more than ready to move on…but…she might just want a taste of Simon before she leaves. The mystery is not resolved by the end of the book and my guess is that the three other partners will have their stories told in the future. This was a quick easy read set in the workplace and definitely more fantasy than reality but fun to read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Barclay Publicity and Harlequin DARE for the ARC – This is my honest review.

There is a mole at Simon Kramer's law firm who has been sharing company secrets and he is determined to catch them, no matter the cost. He begins to take a close look at everyone he works with, and his suspicions draw him to his assistant of two years Bette Monroe, he finds it odd that she would suddenly hand in her two week notice, and come into a large sum of money at about the same time. He is shocked to think the one person he thought he could trust would sell company secrets, but why else would she suddenly be walking away from a job he thought she loved? He decides the best way to learn the truth is to take a more in depth look at his gorgeous assistant, and find out what she is up to...even if it means seducing the truth right out of her!

Legal Seduction is a passionate office romance tale that is heavy on the heat, with touches of emotion mixed in here and there. This fast paced read will pull you in from the first page, and keep you captivated until the last, I wound up devouring it in one sitting!! I really enjoyed meeting these characters, they had great chemistry, the banter between them kept thing simmering at an even pace, and the few tender moments were heartwarming. Overall I would have to say it was an impressive first read for me, it was engaging and had the perfect amounts of naughty and nice! Highly recommend this one, it's sure to have you blushing throughout!

The lawyer hero in this book won't trust anyone, especially his PA, who conveniently quits just as he realises someone is stealing secrets from his firm. They strike a deal, and he uses sex to disarm and investigate her. This concept could easily go wrong, descending into non-con, but the balance is kept fairly well by Lisa Childs so it's never ick. Mostly, that's because the PA takes charge of their sexual relationship from the start. Her motivations are less obvious at the beginning - he's hot and she's leaving, so it's now or never, seem to be the reason. It's enough, and it works.

She does have a secret, and it's a pretty cool one. Once that's revealed, this book really improves, and becomes really fun.

An escapist read, although the mystery of the secret stealer is left hanging for the next one in the series.

SERIE LEGAL LOVERS Vol. 1

This is the first book that I have read by Lisa Childs, but it certainly won’t be the last. Bette and Simon are our featured hero and heroine in this decidedly dirty love story…and I freaking adored Bette! Bette is everything you want in a heroine. She’s classy, smart, beautiful, kind, and has a very strong sense of self and what she wants out of life. I loved her plucky attitude and the way she was able to stand toe-to-toe with Simon, without cowering like a simpering female. Sure, she’s sexually attracted to him but she is a woman who knows her worth and she’s not afraid to say what she feels or what she thinks. Simon, however….I will be very honest. I almost stopped reading this book because of his attitude about himself. It’s one thing to be confident, it’s another to be cocky and too much of thinking about how amazing you are pushes you right to the cocky attitude that I find to be a complete turn-off in my romance heroes (not to mention, I did get annoyed at how often Bette equated him to being blindingly gorgeous). But, I’m glad I stuck with this because it ended up being a very good, sinfully entertaining book. Bette and Simon have very obvious chemistry but Bette has plans outside of the legal field where Simon is a partner, and those plans don’t mesh well with Simon’s vicious business tactics. Bette is moving on to greener pastures…but Simon isn’t quite ready to let her go without a fight. Simon has more than one reason for trying to keep Bette close and when everything backfires…well brace yourself for some pretty heady fireworks. This book has a great plot, very likable characters (if you can get over the whole “cocky lawyer” attitudes), and some pretty down and dirty sex scenes (which were perfect, and the main reason I decided to give this new line a try). Overall, with the exception of having to warm up to my hero, this was a wonderful way to spend my afternoon and I’m on pins and needles for the next book in this series. Ms. Childs has definitely piqued my interest and left me wanting more! 4 stars.

What Is It About:
After handing in her resignation, Bette and her boss Simon finally give into their attraction to each other. But each of them is hiding a secret- Simon's hunting for a mole that's leaking information from his law practice and he'll seduce Bette to find out if she's his mole and to uncover all of her secrets.

What I Liked and Didn't:
I only read this book two days ago and I hardly remember anything so I feel like that isn't a very good sign. I wasn't too impressed with the characterisation of Simon. I should have liked him as a character, he's a former con man who met his friends on the streets and they all fought to become better and now they're all lawyers. That sounds like an awesome person but other than being repeatedly told that he's a con man and being shown his forced-sounding trust issues, there was no depth. I would have preferred a more haunted man considering he lived on the streets for years. With Bette, she just faded into the background. She's a rebellious and disowned preacher's daughter where the story is mentioned about twice and forgotten again. The only thing that I liked about her was her new job, which she unnecessarily hid from Simon. Plot-wise, it wasn't very good. Signs point to her being the mole and she certainly doesn't help herself with her secrecy but Simon doesn't do anything because she's so lovely. I'm not big on spoilers but I will say that you don't find out who the mole is in this book, so I can only assume that's going to be the running plot throughout the series.

Final Thoughts:
Only one word comes to mind to describe this book- meh. It wasn't bad enough to warrant a one-star rating but I don't care enough about the book to bump it up to a three star rating.
Would I recommend it? It isn't anything special so I'm going to go with no.
Will I be reading more of the series? No thanks, I'm not really interested in any of the other male secondary characters.

Bette Monroe is finally moving on from her job working for powerhouse lawyer Simon Kramer, but once she gives her notice she's still got ten days left. It's not easy being around Simon, but as the days go by, Lisa finds herself giving into temptation. But when Lisa discovers the reason of Simon's pursuit of her, will she give him a chance to explain, or will away from their chance at happy ever after?

What an enjoyable read Ms. Childs has delivered in this first book of her Legal Lovers series where the hero and his friends have done well for themselves, but could be in for the fight of their lives when it comes to their careers if they don't discover the identity of their company's mole quickly; the heroine is finally seeing her dreams come to fruition in the fashion world; the dialogue was entertaining, as the hero is determined to seduce Lisa to discover what she's hiding; and the obstacles these two face together were tough, but had me liking how this couple overcame each one including whether the heroine will be able to forgive the hero.

Both the main characters were very likeable and I loved this couple together, as they have plenty of chemistry that spills over onto the pages in steamy sex scenes. Moreover, the heroine was strong and brave when it comes to the moment where she feels betrayed and I liked that she wasn't afraid to stand up for herself when it came to the accusations. While the hero, he's confident, cocky and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over. I also liked that he stood up to his friends for Lisa, as he begins to realize that maybe he's wrong. Will he get the answers he needs?

Overall, Ms. Childs has delivered a really good read in this book where the ending had me liking what the hero's friends do. No way could they continue to see Simon in misery after this couple's relationship goes awry. I would recommend Legal Seduction by Lisa Childs, if you enjoy boss-employee romances or books by authors Clare Connelly, Anne Marsh, JC Harroway and Katee Robert.
