Alyssa Jackson is one of the lucky ones. She has a thriving business, great friends, devoted husband, adorable daughter, and a scorching hot sex life that would be the envy of any married couple. Then, one tragic loss flips her world upside down. Floundering and unsure of how to cope with their grief, Alyssa and her husband drift apart until they are living as roommates instead of a deeply connected couple. Alyssa will do anything to get the intense passion back into her life and marriage, no matter how far out of the box she has to step.

If there is one thing tattoo shop owner Derek knows, it’s that once he set his sights on his wife, he never wanted another woman. Years together haven't begun to put a dent in his desire for her. But everything falls apart when the anguish of loss barges into their lives. Adrift in his own suffering, Derek doesn’t realize how damaged his marriage is until his wife forces him to confront their issues. Now, he’ll do whatever it takes to get their lives back on track, even if the plan seems outrageous.

Escapades was Lily Atlas’ first book in her Trident Ink series. And wow what an emotional book to kick off the series.

Derek and Alyssa had been married and wildly in love. They had the dream, until one day their life shattered. I knew this would be sad going into it. The storyline began at the present but based on the book description, I knew there was a tragic loss that had created a rift in the relationship. The story primarily stayed in the present but did some past moments filtered throughout to fully explain the present circumstances. It then began as a journey to healing and finding the spark deep in the soul that fueled their forever love.

It was well written with depth and dimension. Unfortunately there were a few editing errors; but otherwise, it was enjoyable. No spoilers, but for me, it was an emotional and realistic picture of how this situation could play out in real life. It was real and raw. Heartbreaking yet eventually hopeful, but it took hard work to get there. In the end, I was glad I read it. Hopefully Brett is up next and it should be a lighter but also entertaining story!

This was such a stunning display of love blooming through pain and grief. Two people held together by affection but fighting through impossible loss finding each other once again in beautiful and painful ways. It made me laugh and tear up and it was just so perfect a second chance for two beautiful and strong people.

Also the duel narration in the audiobook was perfection.

Very good!
Story about a very passionate couple who loses their daughter to cancer and end up disconnecting each other in their mourning, but both struggle to reconnect and maintain the marriage.
I liked the reading and only stopped at the end.
Interesting secondary characters who supported the couple very much.

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This is the first in a new series and deals with a very sad subject. Derek and Alyssa have always been happy and madly in love. Then everything falls apart.
Their daughter Katie dies of cancer, and the couple are devastated, and after both grieving separately they find they have drifted apart.
This is the story of how the couple find their way back to each other.
Alyssa finally decides to try an unusual ways to connect with her husband. This is a very sad story, but is told in dual POV so we realise how the couple work their way back to each other. Alyssa and Derek finally realise how much they still love each other. I have to say the sexy parts are HOT, but you will still need tissues for the sad bits.
This story stayed with me, well after the recording had finished
The Narration is superb with Noah and Erin, who are so versatile they bring this story of hope and love to life.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Lilly Atlas. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 heartbreakingly beautiful stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The story of Derek and Alyssa totally BROKE MY HEART into a MILLION PIECES!!!!! But thankfully it was fully together again by the end of the book. This story is one of great tragedy but somehow they survived it all and hopefully they will be a stronger couple because of what they shared together. I am not going to give anything away but I suggest you have a HUGE box of tissues close by because you will need them. I shouldn't let the saddness overshadow the sexiness of the book because HOLY COW was this book HOT!! I am talking off the charts hot, melt your kindles hot!!!!!

This a story of two people who suffered a tragic loss. Instead of pulling together, they pulled apart. they had a once in a lifetime love. They were equals in everything. Two years after their tragedy they are at a crossroads. They must make drastic changes if they want to save their marriage. There is a lot of emotion in this book. It is an emotional rollercoaster. At times they are unsure if they can make it work. Derek and Alyssa are very believable as characters. They story is very realistic. They had the perfect life and wanted to try to get as close to what it used to be as possible. With the help of great friends and an unconventional therapist they make their way back to happiness. Great Epilogue.

Disappointed

A heart breaker and I was not looking for that type of read. A child dying and the strength it takes to rebuild a relationship is not for me. The sex scenes were interesting.

Escapades is the first book in the maybe, possibly Trident Ink Series. It was published in 2018. As I write this, it's 2022. I have no idea if we'll get more. It might be on the back-burner, which I understand. Anyhow, it's a decent book--very contemporary with a lot of internal conflict and character/relationship-based conflict. It follows a couple who lost a child. Their marriage deteriorated to the point where they barely know each other anymore and spend the book attempting to reconnect.

Alyssa Jackson and her husband, Derek, are devastated after they lose their daughter to cancer. They can't cope, so they turn inward and away from each other. Time goes by, and they realize that their marriage is on the rocks and that they barely know each other anymore. They don't have sex. They don't spend time together. They're practical strangers. After it was suggested that they see a couples therapist, they go on "dates" pretending to be other people. It works--sorta--and they are able to finally be intimate again, but they still haven't fixed the underlying issues. The book goes through their struggles to form a healthy relationship again.

It's a good book, but it just doesn't have that spark for me. It's the only Lilly Atlas book that I've rated below a five star because it's just one of those, "Ehs." It's emotional, yet I didn't connect with either character. It hits on a heavy topic, but I wasn't quite sure if the interactions felt genuine. I don't know. I did like it, though. It's a quick read, and it has some hot, hot, hot romance scenes. I would like to see what else the author does with this series, but who knows, right?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The only issue I had and it must be with my iPod, that while out working in the garden had to bend over and something seemed to happen. It would jump, it seemed like the narrators were stuttering, and it sounded like the sound was bouncing off a metal wall. That didn't stop me from enjoying what the narrators were reading to me though. It also won't stop me from listening to this book again. I'm just not sure that I would try and read the book because I wouldn't be able to do justice to the emotions these characters are feeling.

The story is sexy and hot but underlying all that is a lot of hurt and I mean emotional hurt. Alyssa and Derek are still dealing with something that hurt them to the core. It may also touch your heart and wish that you could do something to help alleviate their pain. It's a reminder that we can't always try and fix something by ourselves. There are certain times where we need a little help where we don't give up on our loved one. We just need direction to show us that love is there even though our heart may say otherwise for a little while. You almost stop thinking of our couple as fictional. You feel like you need to do something to show you care like making a donation in their name. But since they're fictional you can't do that but you can in honor of the author.

I already love Mr. Levine and Ms. DeWard as narrators and this is just another book to add to my ever growing list. They do a great job in humanizing Ms. Atlas' characters. I could almost picture who our main characters are - this is what narrators help the reader to do. This book is the only one, currently from the Trident Ink series that's available in audio. I don't see any more books in this series yet but our author has several others in another one of her series so I have a lot of catching up to do. And maybe by then we'll have more stories that revolve around Trident Ink.

I voluntarily reviewed an Audiobook copy of this book.

Wonderful dual duo narration with story of a second chance at love after a tragedy bone deep . . .

Overall 5 out of 5 stars
Performance 5 out of 5 stars
Story 4 out of 5 stars

I can't express in adequate words this second chance romance. Its not your traditional second chance. This couple is married. They drifted apart after tragedy. This distance between them allowed for doubts to be created between this once deeply in love couple. It took effort and time for them to find their way back together after such an event. The doors once closed begin to reopen and healing begins. Alyssa and Derek find their love was one worth fighting for.

As a fan of Lilly Atlas Take No Prisoners series, I found this one to have an additional edge of emotional impact and intensity. I want more from Trident Ink.

Narrators Noah Michael and Erin are most certainly a perfect narrating duo. They do an amazing job. They bring heart, heat, and vivid visualization. Their combined tone, diction, clarity makes for an amazing listen. Their efforts add that extra layer to the story and brings other elements of the sense in to the pleasure of listening.

At first I was a bit confused about this book. It opens with a hot sex scene between 2 people. Then bounces to Alyssa a bereft woman. After a few minutes I figured it was role play type sex. The book is actually about Alyssa and Derrick. They are a married couple who have lost their young daughter to cancer. In the 2 years since the death of their child they have become room mates instead of husband and wife and neither of them actually realized this was happening. The story basically follows their healing. Alyssa finds a counselor and asks Derrick to go with her. The counselor requests that Derrick moves out for 2 weeks and during the first week he is to set up 2 dates with Alyssa, they are to go on these dates as strangers, with different names and different lives ad the dates should end with sex, and during the 2nd week Alyssa is to take charge.

Can Derrick and Alyssa pick up the pieces of their lives and move on together or is this really the end for this couple?

Lilly Atlas has done an amazing job with this story. You will go through multiple emotions while reading or in my case listening to this book. The book is narrated by Noah Michael Levine and Erin DeWard. They both do an amazing job bringing all the characters to life and the telling of the story.

Such an Amazing, Unique and Original Storyline!!

A Phenomenal Narration by this dynamic duo that works incredibly well together and has become one of my favorite couples working together. Noah Michael Levine & Erin DeWard delivered an extraordinary performance by bringing Alyssa and Derrick to life.

This is one of those stories that touches your heart, breaks it into million pieces, but in the end put it back together. Is a journey of heartache, emotional devastation put in the end, a will to overcome a painful lost.

This brillinat story is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. Is a story like no other and I highly recommend it!!

Wow, this story blew me away in so many ways! Alyssa and Derek have always loved each other, yet a devastating loss has them grieving in different ways, and causing a rift to appear in their marriage. I loved how this couple worked so hard to keep their marriage together. This is certainly an emotional rollercoaster journey, and having gone through the same thing, it is very close to home. A marriage can survive anything just by loving each other! I highly recommend this authors’ work for all readers, and cannot wait to read more in this awesome series. Brilliant work Lilly!

Having read all of this authors books there was one left to read and what a tragic but beautiful tale of probably one of the most horrific painful things a husband and wife could go through. This story is about Derek and Alyssa finding their way back to each other and I loved it just as much if not more than her biker books, husband and wife if done right being a favourite of mine and Lilly Atlas did this so well.

I knew my emotions were going to be all over the place just by reading the blurb and how well the author puts emotion in her writing but man I did not expect for it to hit me so hard . Escapades was one of those reads that will have you go through many emotions happiness , steaminess , sadness , and anger so be prepared it's going to be a bumpy ride . I think it's very unique to start a story were the couple are already together and have a family it's more real sometimes and then put in something that is so tragic and see how the couple react can the stay strong or fall apart . Alyssa and Derek are just perfect for one another you can feel how much they love one another so when they drift apart it just broke my heart even more I was rooting for them to find their happy ending . The end just was wow I need more by this author and this series if you haven't read a Lilly Atlas book I highly recommend her especially the No Prisoners MC series .

I loved the No Prisoners MC series. So when I saw Lilly Atlas had a new series out, I had to check it out. Especially after reading the blurb. I was in the mood for a tear jerker.

Unfortunately, this didn’t do it for me. It is an okay read though. I still enjoyed it.

My heart broke for Alyssa and Derek because of what they went through.

But the story fell a little short for me.

All the interaction between them was during sex. There weren’t many conversations that happened out side of sex. There were a lot of inner thoughts.

It felt like you would get a few chapters of sex, then a chapter without . Don’t get me wrong, I love a steamy scene, and these were. I just need more interaction between the characters.

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority, and that’s fine. This is just my opinion.

Let me start by saying that Lilly Atlas is one amazing author and Noah Michael Levine and Erin deWard for an amazing pair of narrators. So when combining these three persons it is more than obvious that the result would be at least great!

I went into this book with so many expectations, knowing the author’s talent to create drama and to bring comfort in the end to the characters. All went well, with one small exception, which I will comment later in this review. But first let’s start with the good points. We have husband and wife trying to find each other after the loss of their only child. Their grief and inability to communicate brought them to the point of not being able to connect again. We later find out that, through the help of a psychologist, they have a series of dates in which they should pretend to be other people, meet and have an evening that should end in … a steamy situation, if you know what I mean! And so this happens, until one point.

Alyssa and Derek have managed to survive so much in their years as a couple, even PTSD. However, they were not able to stand the passing of their daughter. The author managed to express so well their pain and the process of coming together, it was impossible for me not to shed a tear or two. We have a step-by-step description of the phases they go through and that’s perfect. We have some extremely hot scenes that would increase your heart rate and, as mentioned, two narrators that are simply perfect!

However, I am missing from the story some information regarding the two years they have been apart. For me, not knowing how exactly the distancing happened makes the story a bit incomplete. By the end, I understood that the focus was more on how they come back together, but still, I wanted to see them fighting, or arguing or something like that.

All in all, I cannot but give 3.5 stars to Lilly’s book and I am so waiting forward to read/listen to more of her books. She is an author that manages to touch my heart and her stories contain life lessons for us all. Congratulations to her and the narrators for such a great job!

Escapades by Lilly Atlas was a moving emotional story about two people who are trying to overcome the loss of their daughter. After two years, Alyssa and Derek have drifted apart as they are trying to deal with the pain and grief but they find themselves living together as strangers with no communication, their marriage is falling apart. Derek and Alyssa both have successful careers which they now devote all of their time instead of dealing with their problems. Each are craving one another but they don't know how to approach each other, now in order to salvage their marriage, Alyssa and Derek decide to seek a therapist for help.

Once they talk to the therapist and tell her about the heartbreak they have suffered, they also tell her that they had a full and passionate sex life, but just drifted apart after their loss with neither one realizing two years have passed. They are given some lessons to get back on track so they are told to be apart for two weeks and go on two dates together using alias names and give into their desires. Through all of these lessons, the passion and love never left them but they just don't know how to communicate as Derek has suffered with PSTD in the past and is having a hard time expressing himself and Alyssa is afraid to tell Derek what she is feeling about the loss of their daughter a well as trying to help him. After Derek gets injured, these two come to terms and try to express to each other that the love they have is worth fighting for. This story will have your emotions all over the place as you feel the pain they are going through and hoping with each chapter you read that these two strong characters will be able to heal and be together? This is a beautiful romantic story about grieving parents and the process and determination they face to save their undying love and be together. This is a must read!! I voluntairly reviewed an advance copy of this book.

This is the first book in the Trident Ink series.

Alyssa and Derek Jackson were an extremely happily married couple but then suffered the most tragic loss. Over the last couple of years they have not only lost their way but each other. Always passionate and closer than close, they have become virtual strangers.

Derek is totally focused on his tattoo parlour business and making an expansion of it, whilst Alyssa is resetting up her styling business but neither know this of each other. Finally realising what is at risk of being lost, Alyssa seeks external help which leads to some amazing interaction with each other again but could this be the catalyst for them both to get back what they once had?

This was a deeply emotive and heart wrenching read, that my emotions were all over the place. However there was also a hot bed of passion and temptation to add another dimension to the read.

I loved both characters and was instantly drawn to them. Derek was ultra alpha but hid his emotions well, however his deep love for his wife was unmistakable. Alyssa was so lost but with the help of her bestie, Roxie, she was able to comprehend what she was in danger of losing. This drew out her strength and determination which illustrated her character perfectly.

I really enjoyed this and the emotional rollercoaster it took me on. There were some parts where I thought more could have been explored with the couple to have more emotional scenes outside the bedroom but this was just a small detail.

Overall this was a four star read I would definitely recommend to others.

This book was really good!!! I loved the story of Alyssa and Derek because it wasn't a happy story, it was so real! They went through an incredibly hard situation that would be tough for ANY couple, and they were trying to find their way through it. This loss had completely through them for a loop and they didn't even realize that they weren't acting like husband and wife until it had been almost two years since the bad situation had started. I can totally see how getting caught up in the scenario they had would be so hard. To live through a tragic even and stay a happy loving couple just doesn't happen. These two did pretty good considering the odds. BUT they did get through it and I loved how they did!!! I love that they used a sex therapist to get their crap together! Even better, I love how effective it was for them.

To admit that you are having trouble as a couple is hard, it's even harder to take the steps it takes. They are so admirable for doing this!! I also loved that Derek had Brett and Lyss had her friend Roxie. These two supporting characters really helped shape this book and make it as good as it was. Roxie and Brett had a really key role in helping Lyss and Derek get their heads out of their butts. Sometimes it just takes a really good friend to give you a good shove and your good to go! Also, I love how HOT their sex life was! Even though they weren't how they used to be, they were pretty adventurous! That part was super hot, even if it was so filled with emotion and even sometimes regret.

As a whole I loved how different this book was. It wasn't perfect, it wasn't always happy, and it was just so real! We need more of this!

Escapades was my first read by Lilly Atlas and I'm looking forward to more to come....

For me, this was an engrossing read, I read it in less than half a day and could barely put my kindle down.

I can't even begin to imagine what feelings this couple would be going through after the tragedy that hit them but I could understand how they drifted apart and why Derek never realised how long there had been a problem. Let's face it, married life can be hard without other life altering issues, but this pair had a love so deep that I couldn't imagine them not being together and I could do nothing but hope things would work out for them.

Alyssa and Derek were prepared to try anything to get their marriage and lives back on track and gods, while it was hard they were smokin' hot together.

My emotions were all over the place at points reading Escapades but it was worth it to see the couple bare their souls and battle the odds to get back to each other and by the end I was over the moon for how their lives had turned out.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series - I know who I'm hoping get together next!

An excellent, well written and definitely recommended 5* read from an author I'll be checking out more of!

This book is amazing, just because it is so real.  It focuses on a couple trying to save their marriage after a devastating loss.  It focuses on how much they love each other, and the lengths they will go to, to put their lives back together.  The beauty of their feelings for each other is pure and enduring, but their loss is something that very few could make it through.

I love how committed Derek is to Alyssa, and how he is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure he is there for her.  I love how he fights through his own grief and the fog that follows their loss, to help her rebuild their life together, to help her work through her feelings.

This book isn't about a new love.  Its about a mature love, after the initial glow has faded, about how that more mature love is enduring and can make it through anything if you are willing to fight for it.  Its an amazing story, full of feelings and hope.  Definitely one I'd recommend to anyone that is looking for a realistic, beautiful story!

I’ve got a list of necessities for reading this one, you’ll need them, it’s worth it. Just go with me here ok?

1- Tissues, buy in bulk.
2- A nearby man. Human or battery powered, whatever’s on hand.
3- A good solid chunk of uninterrupted time.

Escapades seamlessly blends together a story that is both heartbreaking and healing with off the charts heat. Alyssa and Derek both left me full on ugly crying more than once. The pain they were both in is absolutely heart shattering, but their love runs deeper than any couple I’ve ever read. Through out it all that love never once wavered from either of them. This is truly a story about healing as much as it is a romance.

All of that emotion beauty is paired with some serious heat with these two, that’s where necessity number 2 comes into play. The chemistry between them is insanely hot, and the deep love they have with it makes for some seriously steamy pages. I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but this is one epically hot ugly cry. You do not want to miss this one.

Escapades was an angst filled journey that brought me to my knees. Alyssa & Derek experienced a tragic loss that brought them to their knees, and before they realized, two years later they had drifted apart completely. But the thing is, they loved each other so much, that once the fog lifted, it was decided that they were going to take steps to fix it. And that's all the plot that I'm giving away, because I would hate to deprive anyone their own journey into this realistic story that will bring out all the feels. Lilly Atlas has a brilliant writing style that is very addictive, but even better, her story is completely original. She never fears going outside the box with her stories, and this one consumed me completely. I really feel like I was watching friends go through the paces, not to mention Alyssa & Derek were absolutely HOT HOT HOT together during sexy times, especially when they got very adventurous. Anyway, I could go on and on, but again, no spoiler douchery here, so I just HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Escapades by Lilliy Atlas is the first book in the Trident Ink Series.
Meet Alyssa Jackson. She has it all, a successful business, great friends, a adoring husband and a adorable daughter. And the tragedy flips her world upside down.
Alyssa and her husband drift apart - she´ll do anything to winj him back.

Derek is a tattoo shop owner, and loves Alyssa with all of his heart. But all fells apart in the blink of an eye. He too ´ll do whatever it takes to getb their lives back on track.

I started reading and was captivated from page one. Both are so great together and then they´re devastated by their loss, shattered and broken. But somehow they work through their issues, face the tragedy and grief.
The writing is great and I like the characters and the story. Escapades is typical Lilly Atlas book, there´s drama, tragedy, pain, loss, grief - but also healing and love and a beautiful, beautiful HEA.

Loved this story, it feels so real. The raw pain and emotion of a couple trying to save their marriage after s devastating loss. The love they felt for each other shown through along with their need and want to find their way back to each other.

It makes a change reading a story that isn't about a couple just meeting and falling in love, this is mature love, the love that follows after the honeymoon period has ended and you have to want it work at it, to fight to keep that love.

Tissues will be needed, your heart will be destroyed for Alyssa and Derek, as their loss is so devastating, with their pain, loss and grief BUT this is a brilliantly written book of healing, love and second chances. You will be love that HEA

As this is the first book in the Trident Ink I can't wait to see what Lilly Brings us next with this series
