Alpha's Woman #2

Kosh's Omega

Rate this book
The termagant being brought into the small clinic isn’t exactly what second in command and Alpha soldier, Kosh, envisioned as his perfect Omega, but he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is his. She’s a fierce little thing, more of a threat than most would take her for, but he isn’t one of the unfortunate ones who will get caught underestimating her.

They wouldn’t be given the chance to do so again.

Tura doesn’t want to be here, even though she knows it’s a well-controlled, relatively safely run small city. And she most definitely doesn’t want to be paired off with some giant who thinks he has a claim on her – no matter what her lady parts want her to do.

She almost succeeded in taking him out like she had the others, but instead, he will just wear the scar she’s given him for the rest of his life. A life he absolutely intends to spend taming her to the very hand she’s bitten.

Publisher's Note: The second book in The Alpha's Woman series contains explicit scenes and power exchange. If either of these offend you, please do not purchase.

Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.

I bet you know just what I'm talking about.

Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.

And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.

There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.

Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!

This book is so unacceptable. There is no romance in this relationship, just domestication like in the first book. He abducts her, muzzles her, ties her up, and then rapes her without caring about her sentiments in the least and he isn't even a sadist. The cave man mentality is not for me. What is worst of all is that this story is just downright boring and unmemorable. Two points for killing time.

This picks up about 8 months later with a heavily pregnant Emmy manning the medical center when another Omega is brought it. Tura was living with her mother and her mate (mom’s) when rouge alpha’s killed them. Vaudt’s men “rescue” her (although she sees this as kidnapping), and gives her to his 2nd, Kosh.

This book is very similar to The Alpha's Woman, but Tura is even more resistant, and Kosh is not as nice as Vaudt was. Most of this is because Tura killed two of their men, and attacks anyone she can, but she’s spanked, gagged, and tied to the bed much of the book. She also refers to their coupling as rape (Emmy never did) and there is a greater dub-con feel.

Bottom Line- Much the same, and the lack of world building is still a problem. They’ve been attacked twice now, but we don’t have the information to understand what’s going on. Are there other clans? What’s the world like? They go scavenging, but we have no point of reference for what to even imagine what the world is like. You’ll have to look past some holes. Like that Vault and Kosh were raised/trained together since children, but Kosh knows how to read when we were told V’s dad taught them only how to lead. (V not reading is an issue in the 1st book) Or, that they can do c-sections with their non-existent medical equipment because Emmy (a 23-yr-old former nurse) highlights as a trauma surgeon. I pretty much read this to see Vaudt & Emmy’s baby born…spoiler… it’s a boy named Keev.

A solid story, but all the abuse and rape turned me off

If you like stories with absolute non-consensual rape with beatings that bruise women and keeping a woman helplessly bound to a bed in uncomfortable positions and then also gagged so she can't even beg him to stop, then you may enjoy this book. But, watching a victim broken until Stockholm syndrome sets in and not shockingly she "falls in love" with her abuser, made me repulsed.

I know some people do enjoy this type of abuse, but it's NOT for me!

YOU WILL SUBMIT YOURSELF—YOUR WILL—TO ME AND MINE
The second book in the Alpha’s Woman series will revolve around Kosh, who is second in command for Valdt, and the spitfire Omega, Tura, that is found while out on patrol. Tura was left to fend for herself as her mother’s Alpha was killed, and then her mother was killed trying to protect her. She dresses and acts like a warrior, even taking down many men, including Alphas, but she will be captured by Kosh, who will still have to fight his own men to keep and claim her.

Once again, as in book one, The Alpha’s Woman, the story is mostly narrated rather than a dialog between characters. We do learn more about Valdt and his Omega, Emmy, who is heavy with their child that will include a glimpse into the birth.

Tura may be small, able to be overpowered by a warrior of Kosh’s size and abilities, but she is a fighter nonetheless. She is bitter about his capturing and holding her in bondage, and her mind can accept nothing but planning an escape.

Kosh is a warrior that has been self-disciplined for years. He expects complete surrender and obedience from his Omega but will learn that she isn’t submissive and will resist his dominance. It will come with heavy discipline and include forced sex, and keeping her in bondage.

“I will never fail to correct you when you have misbehaved or disobeyed or displeased me.”

Valdt and Emmy will try to offer experience and guidance for both Kosh and Tura, but it will be a hard-won path for the two of them along this journey. Acceptance would have been better gained had he talked to her rather than commanded and conquered.

“You should take a few days and spend them keeping at her, strengthening that bond—physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically.”

Tura was a virgin, and she is so confused by everything that has happened to her. She accuses Kosh of kidnapping and raping her, and while her body reacts to him, she is determined to continue to fight him.

“Thing he had done to her had stirred her up in some unfamiliar and not altogether unpleasant at all way, and her body was so wound up that it wouldn’t let her fall asleep. She had come to the reluctant realization that he was the cause and the cure for it all, and she couldn’t accept either of those conclusions.”

The plot will take the story on a life and death situation that will make or break them. He will do what is best to protect her, even at the risk of his own life. When she has her chance to escape she will have to decide what her fate and future will become. Kosh and Tura are on a journey together, and it won’t be an easy one.

“Most Omegas, he had thought, were of a submissive nature. There was no doubt in his mind—or his body—that she was his rightful mate, but she was almost as far from submissive as he was.”

The story has kidnap/capture, forced non-consensual sex, multiple spankings, acts of violence, and a world that is dystopian in nature. The sex between male and female different than in a human world, including a barb and knot during intercourse.

Carolyn Faulkner’s Alpha/Omega universe is an interesting one. The world has changed a great deal and omega women are quite rare. The alpha men have adapted to this post apocalyptic world is some very interesting ways. I have really enjoyed Addison Caines’s books of this type and I thought I might enjoy this new series as well. It is well written, with great descriptions. However this genre is not for the faint of heart. Essentially, the omega, Tura has been captured and mated against her will to Kosh. He rapes and beats her repeatedly to gain her compliance and to breed her. The punishments and the sex is quite harsh and often left me feeling conflicted about the story. Even if Tura had wanted to begin to enjoy her circumstances, Kosh hurts her during sex every time because of a mutation that allows him to put a hook into her vagina. Of course with all books like this type, Tura falls in love with her captor in the end and all is happy endings. So I detest the violent nature of the sex in this series. I love the strong alpha presence and the post apocalyptic story line though. So the book has its good and bad points. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Completely unmemorable. I read it and a couple of days later when I saw it on my Want to Read shelf, I wasn't sure if I had actually read it and went back to check. lol, writing isn't very strong, it's short, it's ok for a one time read.

I definitely enjoyed the second in this series, although not quite as much as the first book. This entry lacked the intrigue and complex conflicts of the prior book which set up this post apocalyptic world that exhibits a more elemental and animalistic evolution of mankind. Humans must now expend most of their strength and energy toward meeting only the most basic of needs in order to survive.
There is plenty of spanking and explicit sex. This book is just as dark as its predecessor. Women in this time have few to no rights. Consent is dubious at best. Sex that occurs is heavy with BDSM.
I missed elements that were referred to and then left, in my opinion, hanging, as to the circumstances of the heroine's birth and the places that she had lived and where she strived to return. Including these background stories could have made it more intriguing and added to it's complexity.
All in all, still, I really loved the ending which was extremely satisfying. I look forward to more in the Alpha's Woman series.

Meh. I didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t love at first sight either. I liked the feisty, independent, free spirit who Tura starts out the book as. I wasn’t a fan of the way Kosh “tames” her. I know the omegaverse has different rules from the norm, but this just wasn’t working for me. I liked that he wanted to take care of her. It’s just the way he goes about it left me cringing more often than not.

4 Stars for Kosh’s Omega

Carolyn Faulkner is at it again with Kosh’s Omega in the post-apocalypse America setting. The second book in her series follows a new couple, Tura and Kosh, but still features Vaudt and Emily from Book One.

I get lost in Ms. Faulkner’s storytelling, she is a strong writer and her words flowed so easily that I was surprised when the story was finished. I love a good Omegaverse story! I, however, would have loved to seen Kosh be a bit more understanding of Tura.
I understand the typical power exchange between an Alpha and Omega, but I felt that Kosh was relentless and gave little back to Tura.

There seems to be some sort of understanding by the end, but this is not fleshed out enough in comparison to Tura’s rough treatment by Kosh. Sometimes I just didn’t get a sense of how precious Tura was to Kosh, in a world where Omega’s are so rare, I would have liked to see some give on the nature of this power exchange.

Eh

Honestly the only thing in my opinion that could have made this better is if Tura fought harder to leave him. She was submissive the whole time in my eyes. For the things that were done to her I would have thought she'd fight harder with her spirit but she didn't. So the book fell flat for me.

Hmmmmm, I don’t know

This was book 2 of the series. I do see what the author is trying to do. Most omega verse books have an anti-hero, Borderline unlikable, but still good. This author almost gets it but goes over that line where her male characters are just unlikable. I don’t know if it’s the pacing of the romance or if it’s the lack of outside story but, I just don’t grow attached to these men.

Although this story is a sequel to The Alpha's Woman, I think it is a much better story. It is rough reading at first, with the typical clueless arrogance of alphas in these omegaverse stories, but I really enjoyed the eventual outcome.

I particularly liked Tura, who was in no way a doormat - although in some cases she was stubborn to the point of reckless. The relationship between Kosh and Tura evolves into one - given the world they live in - I could celebrate. I also enjoyed seeing so much of Emily and Vaudt from The Alpha's Woman, and getting more insight into their relationship.

The ending of this book felt better planned than The Alpha's Woman, and left me feeling much more satisfied as a result.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first book in the series, if not more. The story kicks off with familiar characters in a familiar setting as we meet the new protagonist, Tura. Her reaction to being claimed as an alpha's omega is much like Emmy's was, but Tura is a very different character and Kosh is not like Vaudt. I loved the internal conflict of the main characters and the roles of Emmy and Vaudt as mentors. The contrast of the two couples at opposite ends of an emotional journey is profound. This book is extremely erotic with wonderfully written sex and discipline scenes throughout the story. I couldn't put it down.

Can NOT stand Kosh! At no point did I find him redeemable! Even when he wanted to be the one to teach her something she was interested in it was only because he wanted her to be able to do it for his future spawn!!
How could any one alpha be so emotionally stunted?
There was no emotional connection between the two of them - and the way he treated her? I amazed she could stand or walk but I guess when you are trapped in absolute terror your body can be pushed
I liked Tura a lot - she fought him flesh and bone right up until that darn Stockholm syndrome kicked in - I hope she gets the opportunity to repay him his kindness

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Kosh has found his Omega just as Vaudt found his Omega Emmy in the first book. Tura will find it hard to be kidnapped from her world even though her world is scary for a lone woman. Their mating alone is painful as he latches onto her tender flesh, even though it leads to ecstacy, much less the punishment she receives from Kosh. Even with her bottom blistered, she can't seem to give in. Kosh wants a son and will continue until he gets one even if he has to spank her every day to get one. A good read.

I found this book to be interesting, but Kosh and Tula's physical relationship was intense. The whole brindle and knot situation made me wince.

Almost the entire book revolved around their relationship struggles, and toward the very end, there was a bit of action. I am still not sure how I feel about the Alpha taking his Omega. I freely admit I had some difficulty with it, but it is what it is.

I might see if Vaudt and Emmy have a book, just to compare. I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy.

This is one intense book. It's the second in a series, but I did not read the first and followed along fine. It is dark with nonconsent, dubious consent, and harsh punishments. There is also some intensely hot sex. It was a good contrast to see the more established Alpha/omega pairing with Kosh and Tura's new relationship. This book was really enjoyable. My only wish was that the ending/wrap-up was not so abrupt. Just a little more would have felt more satisfying. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Too Much Discipline

The Alphas were too harsh! I felt there could have been a little. More understanding of why the women behaved the way they did. I get that they needed discipline, but it was a bit overdone. There wasn't enough story line. This was not one of Carolyn Faulkner's better books.

Yes! The Carolyn of old returns. Although I appreciate you have to write to market I have always liked this authors harsher/darker/non con stories. And I ain't ashamed of it at all. This is shorter and less well developed then something like Prima or Tria by her but in the same vein. Only its a dystopian where men have knots and a BARB. So yeah. Warnings apply.

2 "Kosh is an asshole" stars

Yep, I didn't like it quite as much as the first one and my main problem with this book was Kosh. I really don't think he should have had a HEA quite that simple if at all and Tura (I really felt for her) was quite shortchanged with this sorry ass excuse of a hero.

Kosh and Tura

Kidnapped while fighting off a band of marauders, Tura is not thrilled to be given to Kosh. He is brutish in his treatment of her from the very beginning, spanking her for daring to defend herself and roughly claiming her. She knows how to survive but was never used that way. A rude awakening for the young adult even for the setting. Everyday is a strength of wills which she cannot hope to win, but she won't give up. She won't give in. Freedom is all she wants - from him, from the village. But what price is she willing to pay for it?

Vaudt and Emily are included, as she gives birth to new life. Vaudt has changed his tune considerably, more concerned with Emmy's well-being than the child he craved with maniacal focus. He helps Kosh try to understand Tura better, while Emmy tries to ease Tura into her role. Well-intended acts that do bear fruit and bring out more smiles in this dark new world.

I think I liked this one better than the first as I plowed right through it. Such an easy read with action and steam oozing from the pages.

This book features one of my literary pet peeves--the stubborn heroine. Not just run-of-the-mill,regular stubborn. The i-know-it-all,i-hate-it-here,i-will-NEVER-be-happy-even-if-you-bend-over-backwards,teeth gratingly, annoyingly stubborn stubborn. Tura was infuriating and bitter even at page 103 of 114. Kosh actually developed as a character, listening to advice from someone who had been in his position (Vaudt and Emmy),and trying to compromise to make things smoother, but Tura was just a sourpuss throughout the ENTIRE book, which became very tiresome very quickly. One star read, really.Extra stars ONLY for the HEA.

What the hell with this book!!!! Forcing a woman being held, strapped and gagged is violating her. I can’t accept that her traitorous body told him go ahead. Ok she is an omega and according to the genre when she is in the presence of an Alpha her body will prepare for mating but that doesn’t mean her mind wants to and in their first encounter this idiot beats her with a brush and then ties her up in a bed and keeps her gagged and then rapes her. She was a virgin and he didn’t even consider her. What a bunch of crap! I can’t really understand why I keep reading these books!!!

I have to admit that I love this author and this is a great read. The characters are very well written and described. Poor Tura! Her life is turned upside down and Kosh has to learn how to bend. There's plenty to hold the reader's interest. This is not a story for the feint hearted but it is very hot. A very interesting and enjoyable story. I received an ARC copy of this book and I highly recommend it.

This is the second story in the series. Kosh, Vaudt’s right hand man gets the next Omega found as a mate. Tura is found and brought into Vaudt’s camp. Kosh is not as soft as Vaudt and Taru has a rough time of it. This is another well written Omegaverse story that leaves you wanting more for this author. I loved getting to check in on Emmy and Vaudt while reading about Taru and Kosh’s journey to their own HEA.

Kosh's Omega is another wonderful story from Miss Faulkner. I love the world-building, it made my imagination soar. Kosh is so very alpha and knows how to tame Tura. There was great chemistry and the intimate scenes were delightful. I liked that the book is a bit on the dark side and enjoyed reading it very much.

This is a very well written book by one of my favorite authors.
She writes so you can transform your mind to be there in the
midst of the story. This omega named Tura is a fierce fighter
and even her Alpha will have the scar to remind him. The omega's
are very valued women that will need to be tamed by their Alpha
in this case Kosh. There are many twists and turns that will surprise
you.

Good read

I really wish Tura had gotten a chance to run away and go to her happy place. I liked her seriousness it made the story like when Emmy pretended to give up. I wish she was some how unable to have children unless she wanted to and Josh would have had to find her because he was to brutal to her and towards her.

I could not feel it

I wanted to like josh I did but he was an ass a straight up awful ass and I just would rather he died and she fine a new alpha to be quite honest. Nothing he did redeemed or his horribleness and intent to continue to be a sadistic bastard. I felt neither of their love and feel sorry for the heroine that she has to live this life
