VOIDWALKER begins with the story of Knight Captain Adair Titanborn. She’s a naïve but honorable knight who’s world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with the wrong mercenaries.
While taking on a mission for the king, she leads a company guarding the prince across the country to an outpost where they stop briefly to resupply on their way. While there she encounters The Sword Theater, a group of mercenary thugs who run the town. She manages to unravel one of their operations and they decide to eliminate her and her friends from the picture.
Adair escapes, but loses her friends, fails her mission, and finds herself unsure of her future. After encountering a mystical swordsman, she strikes a deal with them and sets out to get her revenge on the Sword Theater and the corrupt officials who allowed them to rise. Along the way she has to reconcile how far she is willing to go for revenge.
From the very first few words of this book, I was pulled into the story with the adventure it seemed to promise. As words, paragraphs and then chapters passed, I wasn't disappointed at all. An ongoing journey involving magic, dragons and Fae people has been written in a way that is intriguing and serious whilst demonstrating the strength of friendships.
The story is of a decent length to make it easy to relate well to the characters, and the content is void of any adult content. I finished it feeling like I'd read an entire story in itself, and yet could easily see the potential for a further story that could follow. The writing is great and I'd be very happy to read anything else by this author. Awesome!
