Your Seat Cushion Is A Flotation Device: and other buoyant short stories

Rate this book
On days when I feel alone I pay special attention to things that make me feel supported, like safety nets for acrobats and harnesses for rock climbers and subjects for kings. Sailors have knots and sails and yogis have the floor. This is what I'm thinking as I walk down the airplane aisle looking for my seat and find it and settle in and notice the label right before my eyes. Your seat cushion is a flotation device. The world is full of flotation devices ready for you. Look for them and you will begin to see them everywhere. That's what this book is about. This, and other buoyant short stories.

After working for more than 20 years in the communications industry, Dushka noticed a theme.

People find it very difficult to articulate who they are and what they do.

This holds true for both companies and for individuals.

For companies, this is an impediment to the development of an identity, a reputation, a brand.

It makes it hard for customers to see how companies are different from their competitors.

For individuals, in a new world order of personal brands, it makes it hard to develop one that feels real.

This is the focus of Dushka's work: she helps companies and people put into simple terms who they are, what they do, and where to go next.

Her work comes to life through message development, presentation training, media training and personal brand development.

It comes to life through executive coaching, workshops and public speaking.

It comes to life through what she writes.

Dushka has written nine books:

How to be ferociously happy and other essays

Amateur: an inexpert, inexperienced, un-authoritative, enamored view of life

A spectacular catastrophe and other things I recommend

Your seat cushion is a flotation device and other buoyant short stories

Someone destroyed my rocket ship and other havoc I've witnessed at the office

How to build a pillow fort and other valuable life lessons

You belong everywhere and other things you'll have to see for yourself

Love yourself and other insurgent acts that recast everything

Feelings are fickle and other things I wish someone had told me.

Dushka writes every day on question and answer site Quora and has also published an e-manual that outlines step by step how to write a book.

Her views on toxic relationships, codependent relations and other major but neglected problems of any relationship is worth appreciable. I’d loooove to read those highlighted key pages/points again and again later in my life. Thank you for a simple yet loving rollercoaster experience of love, like, heartbreaks and everything in between.

The clarity Dushka has on human relationships amazes me! Her writing gives me comfort that I tend to seek in others, her words has power to create cosy cocoon for the reader where they can learn at their own pace! In short it is much needed therapy that i deserve. How seemingly big issues of life can be solved in seconds by just witnessing, is my biggest learning from Dushka! The art of owing our Happiness and setting boundaries are some other beautiful learnings. Want to spend some "quality me time".Go grab a Dushka's book❤
