3.5/5 - Great writing with Sulochana rani garu's mark characterizations. The beauty of this novel lies in its writing. The way in which some scenes play out is out of the world. While reading this we may think some of the plot points as unnecessary but in later portions we'll get to know the power and impact of these plot points. That's how damn good this novel's writing is, but plot wise, its not unique (According to this gen) as her previous work.
Had read it in 2024.About a Girl married to a rich household to a disinterested guy. This MC is what I believe a strong independent women might be like.
This was quite old-fashioned, unsurprisingly, but it still had a lot of charm. I loved how much drama there was.
Girija was an admirable character who maintained her self-respect no matter what life threw at her. Chandu honestly did not deserve her. It was hard to care about him when he was an errant man-child for much of the book. On the other hand, Madhu deserved the world and he was This applies to a lot of things in the book.
I think overall the book would have been better if simply didn't exist. Chandu's personality and avoidance of marriage made sense even before that reveal and it didn't add anything because it wasn't actually part of any of the resolutions. It reminds me of Mouna Ragam where
Even though I had a lot of complaints, I still enjoyed this in parts and want to read more of the famous Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani.
I listened to the audiobook by Konduru Tulsidas and it was excellent! He has such a good storytelling voice. Also I watched the movie made based on this a long time ago and so spent the entire book imagining Girija as Jayaprada... such perfect casting.
