While spying for Clan Cameron, Brodie Cameron rescues a lass, only to realize it’s Skye—the woman who’d broken his heart. He needs to get her to her uncle as quickly as possible to keep her safe, but every minute he’s distracted from his mission brings the clans that much closer to war. And having beautiful Skye anywhere near him is dangerous, because the price on his head is higher than the one on hers.
Upon being rescued from kidnappers, Skye finds herself staring into the eyes of the man she once loved—Brodie Cameron. She’s grateful to be freed, but has no idea how she’ll resist the lad who has become a braw man. Especially because she’s promised to another, in a political marriage forged to strengthen the Royalist clans against the Covenanters who plot to turn Scotland upside down.

This author has brought me back to Scotland moors and political intrigue once again! This time out Brodie Cameron’s life as a spy is coming to a head as his past, in the form of one-time love Skye, returns and needs his help. They had loved each other but timing, interfering family and misunderstandings meant they were separated for years. It is a second chance romance set in the highland moors with clan and royal politics setting the stage…
I love this author’s writing style and was blown away by the first story in this series. While Brodie and Skye didn’t capture my attention in the same way I still worried and fretted through each chapter, as danger dogged their every step. There was love between them, that was clear, but their road was plagued with fear and uncertainty. Family alliances and trust chipped at their certainty in each other and that didn’t help when their very lives meant they had to depend on each other.
I hope this author takes me back to this time and characters again as I’m not ready to leave the highlands quite yet! ~Diane, 3.5 stars
At 50% into it, I had to put it down, my fellow Scottish romance book loving friends, to focus on what needs to be said while it is fresh in my mind. This Brodie lad has a long road to travel to find romantic redemption with me. Sure, he felt like his world was taken away from him when he lost Skye five years earlier, but I for one am tired of supposedly tough as nails, brawny heroes being with lots of OW afterwards to get over their woman by using OW, when the same brokenhearted, heroines have the strength, perseverance, devotion to their memory to stay chaste during the same time. Why? Because for them not just any man can step in and take their former sweetheart’s place. In this case, she even gave the guy her virginity and thought he abandoned her to play the field. Then this good guy hero gets to cry on her shoulder how hard it was to try to forget her by sleeping with loads of other lasses. She lived closed enough she heard about these exploits, as well. How convenient for him it helped his undercover work as a spy to be be known as a no account, rogue, manho, while she pined away for him. On top of that, she says she’s sorry it was so difficult for him, even shed tears while she said it.
Sure, now he is working overtime as the alpha male to protect her, but openly admits his job as “Raven” means he’ll seduce her again to get the information he thinks she might have then still plans to walk away. As a master spy, he feels any woman he’s with long term is in danger so never plans to marry.
Meanwhile, she’s recently just agreed to an engagement to help unify clans, but still decides to sleep with Brodie again anyway, knowing she’ll be marrying this other guy sooner rather than later. She’ll use this brief time together now to store as a memory to draw upon when she is married to someone else. This OM even upfront offered not to marry her if he wasn’t what she wanted in a husband. She still said “yes” to the arranged marriage contract.
My respect for her then went out the window, too, so now I’m out the door. I hope things work out for them, but since they aren’t going to fight for their love (gave up too easily the first time) I can’t justify sticking around myself. It’s made even easier to call it quits because this time around the writing wasn’t nearly as engaging as book 1, which had similar main couple issues. All of this is a dang shame as I had high hopes to be enraptured with Raven’s (Brodie’s spy name) full story. It seems we all got cheated on here, folks.
I’ll be generous with three stars, because it is a personal book character code of conduct that might not bother others. Actually, strike that. I’m two starring this one because I just discovered
Title: Highland Redemption, Series: Highland Pride (Book 2), Author: Lori Ann Bailey, Pages: 217, stand-alone but part of a series, lots of politics/spy talk, some brogue, second chance romance, some violence, stopped at 62%, gets very steamy starting at 50%.

Series: Highland Pride #2 Publication Date: 11/27/17
This is the second novel by Lori Ann Bailey and I think she has great promise as an author. This series is set in 1640’s Scotland during a time of great turmoil between the Royalists and the Covenanters. I have not read the first book in the series and I think that may be what caused some of my questions about people in this book. There are some things that, to me, just aren’t plain and it makes me question their plausibility. I enjoyed the story, I just didn’t understand some of the character backgrounds and standing within the clan.
Skye MacDonald (or is it, Cameron, because her father was a Cameron farmer) is the niece of the MacDonald Laird. Skye was named for the Isle of Skye where her mother’s family lived. Skye’s mother was the daughter of the previous MacDonald Laird and the sister of the current one. Skye and Brodie were childhood friends and Brodie looked up to Skye’s father very much. The two spent most of their time together and friendship turned to love. Skye loved Brodie with all of her heart, but when Brodie began spending more and more time away, she began to wonder at his commitment to her. Then, when he disappeared during the worst time of her life, she was bereft and when her uncle came to take her back to Isle of Skye with him – she went.
Brodie Cameron is the cousin of the Cameron Laird. I’m not sure what his family ‘job’ as part of the Cameron clan is, but it sounds as if they are farmers. Brodie spent as much of his time as possible with Skye and her family. He loved Skye and felt as if her father was a second father to him. He wanted to marry Skye and make a life with her, but he didn’t feel worthy of her – especially after overhearing a conversation between Skye’s father and her uncle. So, when an opportunity to better himself arose, he took it. He became “The Raven” a spy for the Royalists. Sadly, that caused him to have to be away from home for long periods of time and didn’t allow him to explain those absences to Skye. When he returned from an important mission to find Skye’s father had died and Skye had left, he was inconsolable.
Five years later, Brodie rescues a young woman who is being abducted, only to discover that the woman is Skye. Both of them realize their love has never died and they also realize that neither of them is free to act on that. Argyle, a staunch Covenanter, has put a price on the head of The Raven and Brodie would never expose Skye to that. Skye’s uncle has betrothed her to the third son of another Laird in order to form a political alliance.
Brodie is taking Skye to safety when he discovers that Argyle has also placed a bounty on Skye’s head – dead or alive. He cannot understand why Argyle has placed the bounty, but he will do all in his power to keep her safe. How will they manage to get through that time and keep their hearts intact and not betray their clans and alliances?
This is a lovely story of love and redemption. I hope you will enjoy it.

I received this book from net galley for an honest review. Thank you!!
This novel was a nice read. It is the story of two lovers who are separated based on misunderstandings and secrets. However, when they come across each other five years later, they love they has never truly disappeared. Skye is a MacDonald and lives with her uncle. He decides on a marriage for her, even though she knows it will be at most friendship. Love has hurt her in the past. She is kidnapped and who saves her, Brodie Cameron, the man who broke her heart. Brodie is a spy known as the Raven. He has only loved Skye, but his duties as a spy impacted their relationship. He is currently trying to determine who a traitor is and Skye's uncle is one of his suspects. He keeps Skye with him to protect her, even though he does not understand why she broke his heart all those years ago. He tried to see her, but was turned away. His feelings return, but it cannot be more than that. His life as a spy is too dangerous and he would never risk Skye's life. But the passion they have is still there. Skye is able to open up to Brodie about how he hurt her, but Brodie keeps quiet about his activities, until Skye learns the truth. Still, with men still trying to kill Skye, Brodie will do everything he can to keep her safe, but will it be enough? Will Skye and Brodie allow the past to keep them from the happiness they should have had?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋💋 Absolutely loved this book , the whole story , characters, settings was totally spellbinding, I could not put it down . I highly recommend this series by Lori .
I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to submit a review
Skye and Brodie fell in love but the secrets that Brodie kept tore them apart. It’s the old tale of men keeping things to themselves because they want to protect their women, but of course that doesn’t work and it ends up tearing them apart. So now Skye is set to marry another man but she gets kidnapped and Brodie happens to be there and he saves her. They finally talk about things that came between them. *ARC graciously provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The usual issue I have with romance novels is that they focus too much on the romance and not enough on the plot line. This book had the opposite problem. A good romance has a nice balance between a steamy romance and an engaging story.
I really liked the two main characters and loved the romance between them. The issue that I had was with how the intimate scenes were written. The writing style changed completely during these sections. It was almost as if they were written by a different person. The intimate scenes were boring to read and I kept getting distracted by the change in language. The words became flowery and all of a sudden there were a shit ton of unnecessary descriptive words. Here are a couple examples:
“His lips covered hers, scattering the wayward thoughts like swirling leaves on a brisk fall day.”
“Her fingers wove in and out of his thick hair, the silky strands tickling the place where her fingers met.”
Usually I look forward to the intimate scenes but this time I couldn’t get through them fast enough to get back to the main plot.
I really liked the main story line. It has a strong plot that is fairly believable. Its got action, adventure, and love. I also have a soft spot for romances set in the highlands. I don’t know what it is, but it just makes such a great location. Plus the men are always so amazing!
P.S. I really wanted a GIF of a Scottish man in a kilt with his hair blowing in the wind but I couldn’t find one :(
Overall I liked the book, despite the overdone intimate scenes. I would recommend it if you like Scottish romances.
Brodie Cameron was spying on his friend Ross MacLean, when he notices Ross and another man escorting a woman, who reluctant to go with them. Wanting to ensure the woman is alright, Ross approaches them, a scuffle ensues, and then Ross wonders if he has seen the woman before and if Ross has turned traitor. Edinburgh is to host a summit between Royalists and Convenanters; does this have to do with it? Brodie leaves with the woman and they ride away to safety.
Sometimes a detail just won’t let itself be forgotten, and this is what happened here. Brodie doesn’t recognise the woman, Skye MacDonald, and this was a huge problem for me. Brodie and Skye were once in love, they had had sex, it was only five years before when Skye was eighteen, and he doesn’t recognise her? Skye is not covered in mud, she is not battered and bruised beyond recognition, and he doesn’t recognise her? I might have been able to overlook this – might – if the author had not kept on rehashing and repeating how much they had loved each other, how he bedded numerous women and drank too much in order to forget her, but when he sees her, he does not recognise her? It’s 1643 and it’s not as if she would have had cosmetic surgery, or had made drastic changes to her appearance or that she was scarred; women that age do not change that much in five years under normal circumstances, especially not in those days. Had it been Brodie whom Skye had not recognised, it might have worked; men that age are still growing and fill out, a different hair style and facial hair can make a huge difference.
If only there hadn’t been that bit about Brodie not recognising Skye, HIGHLAND REDEMPTION would have been fine, although there are minor issues and your usual miscommunication, lack of communication, and misunderstandings. It’s well written, the action scenes are terrific, and the political machinations and clan disputes are interesting and handled well.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Lori Ann Bailey, An Up and Rising Star. This is Lori’s 2nd book in her Highland Pride series, the first being Highland Deception. If you like Scottish history and romance, this is the book for you. Lori has a way of making her book flow and her characters come alive. There is evil, revenge, mystery, spies, misunderstandings and yes love. All the thing I love in a book. I highly recommend this book, you wont be disappointed.
Travel back in time to 1643 Scotland with Brodie Cameron and Skye MacDonald when five years prior there was heartbreak for both of them due to a misunderstanding and Skye leaves her home with her uncle since her father had died and she was all alone. Now 5 years later when a betrothed Skye gets abducted by the Maclean Clan and not knowing it is Skye, Brodie comes to her rescue. Seeing no way to her get her back to her uncle plus the continuing war between the Catholic and Presbyterian and not knowing who to trust, Brodie takes her back to the Cameron Clan ignoring his better judgement. Why was Brodie always gone to who know where and leaving her alone? Can Skye over come her fear of being alone? Can Brodie trust Skye with his secret? Can the Clans make the right alliances with other clans? Who is really after Skye and why? Will Skye marry her betrothed or can Brodie and Skye rekindle the flame they once shared? You will just have to read Highland Redemption to find out.
Highland Redemption is a lovely story about what happens after we've found love and let it slip through our fingers. So many of us have experienced this - where life and lies and misunderstandings got in the way and tore us apart from someone who held our heart. Afterwards, we try to piece ourselves together and create some kind of life we can tolerate. But how often do our thoughts stray back to that lost someone? How many times do we wonder what we would do differently if given another chance?
The story of Brodie and Skye rings so true for all who have gotten that miraculous second chance. To fight so much harder than we ever thought possible, to not have to go through that piecing together again. Because when you find the love of your life, there is truly no going back.
Highland Redemption was gripping and had me unable to set it down until I reached the end. What stops me from giving this book a five-star review, however, is the lack of depth to some of the emotions. The fear and the love and the rage at others are all fully developed, but there is just a passing notation of anger at each other, confusion over the misunderstandings that took them on separate paths. And the MacDonald, so central to the story, is barely included in it and not allowed to develop, either. I feel like he would have added a special layer to the story had he been more involved.
Overall, I did enjoy this book and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a light, enthralling weekend read.
This is a story of second chance at love. Brodie Cameron, of Clan Cameron is a spy for the Royalists and is trying to find out if his friend Ross MacLean is was working with the Covenanters. Seeing Ross kidnap a lass, he decides to take matters into his own hands and rescues her, from what he thinks is a bargaining tool. What he finds is that he has taken Skye MacDonald, who he had not seen in five years. They had fallen in love and he had intended to marry her when a plethora of misunderstandings occurred. He began working as a spy and had to leave her for weeks at a time. Skye felt he was not coming back and after her father died, she had been placed in the care of her uncle. As Brodie and Skye spend time together as he tries to get her to safety, a lot of old hurts come forth and they both have a hard time accepting the truth... that they still love each other. Full of adventure and emotion, this story will take you on a journey to find that there is sometimes a second chance and you just have to take it! This is the second book in a series and although can be read as a standalone, I do wish I had read the first book beforehand to help with some of the characters. This writer has a lot of promise as she continues to write future stories.
Highland Redemption by Lori Ann Bailey is book Two in the "Highland Pride" Series. This is the story of Brodie and Skye. I have read the previous book in this series but feel this can be a standalone book. Brodie and Skye were once childhood friends but a slight misunderstand pulled them apart. Brodie loved Skye but doesn't think he is good enough for her and when a chance to better himself comes up he takes it. Skye also loves Brodie but he up and left her when she was going through a really hard period in her life. When Brodie had come back from a mission he was on he learned that Skye's father died and that she was gone. Now some years later she is saved by Brodie...bring him into her life again. But they both are in danger...and not just in fallen in love again. https://twitter.com/soapsrus68 https://www.facebook.com/RomanceBookR... http://booklikes.com/blog http://sissymaereads.blogspot.com/ https://romancebookreviewforyou.wordp... https://www.tumblr.com/blog/romancebo...

I had just finished reading Highland Deception when I saw this offered on NetGalley, and I'm very happy to have the chance to review it. This is the second book in the Highland Pride series, and it's every bit as good as the first one. Part romance, part adventure and part mystery, this book has lots of twists and turns, making it less predictable than many in this genre.
Brodie and Skye grew up together, seemingly destined to marry and live their lives together. Through a series of misunderstandings, they're torn apart, each blaming the other.
Brodie has been operating as a spy since before they were separated, but he could never tell her. During a mission, he sees a woman in need of rescue. It turns out to be Skye. She is furious with him and has no interest in going anywhere with him. But she's in danger, and Brodie is determined to find out why before he can let her leave.
Caught up in the war between the Royalists and the Covenanters, Brodie and Skye must work together to find out why someone is trying to kill her. Is it Ross and Neil, who were her initial kidnappers? Or is she in danger from someone else entirely?
This story has excitement, romance, and drama in the form of a war between clans. The hero, Brodie Cameron, is strong and brave, as is his love interest, Skye. The book has the perfect amount of steamy sensuality and a terrific HEA. This is the second book in the series, but it works fine as a standalone.

This is the second book in Lori Ann Bailey’s riveting “Highland Pride” series. “Celtic Barb’s Tartan Book Review Blog”
As the strain is even more hostile between the royalists, known as cavaliers and the covenanters. This is the beginning of the first English/Scottish Civil War as there were three in total. Also known as the “War of Three Kingdoms” which involved Scotland, England and Ireland.
Scotland, 1643
In this exhilarating story spymaster Brodie Cameron who rescues a lass while spying for Clan Cameron. Brodie didn’t realize it’s the very lass who broke his heart five years prior with no word. The very reason he entered that the dangerous world of spying. It was to prove he was worthy of Skye’s love. Brodie made this decision after overhearing a conversation by Skye’s Uncle, claiming Brodie was not good enough for Skye. The problem now was he had secrets from Skye. This made Skye suspicious wondering where he was, what he was doing and why he was doing it?
Now since his shattered heart the world thinks he’s a drunkard and womanizer. This is his disguise and cover from his actual spying activities as “The Raven”. Five years ago Skye Cameron’s heart was broken long ago by the abandonment and desertion by Brodie Cameron. A man who nearly destroyed her after her father's death. She waited for Brodie to come back to love, support and console her. He never came, no letters, messages or any word at all. Now her Uncle had rescued her and taken her into his clan and home. A place that makes Skye feel so lonely and isolated away from her family and friends. Of course she has heard of Brodie’s womanizing and feels she was just another notch in his kilt.
What Skye doesn’t realize is she is the woman Brodie has always loved and cared for. Now what Sky doesn’t realize is her very life is in danger! However, she is now betrothed to another which is only a political alliance. Yet the Duke of Argyll, who supports the Presbyterian Covenants as the sole religion of Scotland. He puts a bounty on Skyes head dead or alive. He does not want this match to occur no matter what! They may cause her death or a heinous accident. In addition her missing could cause a bloody clan war! This makes no sense to Brodie and can not figure out why Argyll would put such a high price on Skye’s head!
Brodie knows things are different now, as he would never want to put Skies life in danger. As wife, to one of the top spies in Scotland, her very life would be easily forfeit for information. Yet he still wants to know why she never responded to any of his messages. He turned to drink and women trying to mend his shattered heart. As they were childhood friends as he also had worshipped her father too.
Now they are on the run together and in close captivity will old feelings come back? Will the love in their hearts be allowed to be set free? Or will they still face lies and denial? You must read this masterpiece of story that will stay with you long after you have read it. A definite on your keeper shelf!
Fans of the “Highland Pride” series like myself of Lori Ann Bailey’s first book, “Highland Deception”, will be thrilled Lachlan and Maggie appear in this book too. This book has all the elements romance readers love from riveting adventure, mystery, suspense, romance, heartbreak, abduction, betrayal, rescue, miscommunication, attempted murder, treachery, spying, arranged betrothal , political alliances, secrets, forgiveness, faith, passion, joy and love.
I absolutely loved Highland Redemption as much as I loved from Highland Deception. Again Ms. Bailey pens another phenomenal story that had me weeping, but always cheering this couple on! The type of story that will always stay with me long after I have read it. The setting was magnificent and the dialogue blew me away. There were plots within plots in this story which had me mesmerized. Find my heart racing, yet holding my breath with anticipation not knowing what would happen next!
A phenomenal story from start to finish. A definite read you don’t want to miss! You can read as stand alone book or in series order. I recommend series order as I think it’s just more fun that way. To connect the dots of previous characters or seeing the hero of this book as a secondary character in a previous book. No matter what you chose it is a spectacular read. My favorite reading recipe is true history weaved with a fictional historical romance. Highland Redemption was absolutely brilliant as I can’t recommend it enough!
I received this book From Entangled publishers for a fair and honest review. I voluntarily agreed to read, review, blog and promote through netgalley. All words, ideas and thoughts are my own.
working as a spy is dangerous work and breaking cover could land his entire mission in ruins, but Brodie Cameron is determined to rescue a woman from her kidnappers. However, when he discovers the woman who broke his heart is the woman he's rescued, Brodie is determined to keep her safe. Yet, with a price on her head and an even bigger price on his, will Brodie be able to keep Skye safe or will they lose their second chance at happy ever after?
What a fascinating and wonderful read Ms. Bailey has penned in this story where the pages really flew by, especially with the way this story started by Brodie's determination not to allow a woman to be kidnapped, but then only to find his damsel in distress is Skye. Will he finally learn the answers of why she broke his heart? However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine realize who the other is that had me reading this story rather quickly, determined to discover what was between the hero and heroine in the past and whether they'd have a second chance at forever after.
As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the history between these two and their back stories, but had me loving this couple's growing relationship, as the heroine's future has already been decided and she's determined to do what's right for her clan. Will Brodie finally have it out with the heroine's uncle to make him see that he's the best man for Skye? Moreover, I liked learning all about the hero and his desire for becoming a spy; a career he's succeeded at by the enemies it seems he has. Enemies that led him to make a decision which would protect him and give him the chance at a fresh start with the heroine without having to look over his shoulder if the truth ever came out about him being a certain spy. I also liked how determined the hero was to protect Skye and win her over, because they're meant to be together.
While Skye, she's strong, brave, determined to protect herself from being hurt by the hero again and I could understand why she's willing to go through with her uncle's plan for her to marry because the man has done so much for her. I also liked how loyal the heroine was when it came to her uncle's honor being put into question, even though it appears things aren't always what they seem and that Skye could be wrong. Yet, what I liked most of all about the heroine was that she could admit when she was wrong, especially in the moment when things between her and Brodie are make or break. Will she be able to convince her uncle that Brodie is the man she wants forever? Will her uncle finally realize that Brodie is the right man for his niece?
Overall, Ms. Bailey has delivered a fantastic read in this story where the chemistry between this couple was strong and had me enjoying this couple's growing relationship; the romance was special and shows how much these two are made for each other; and the ending had me loving what the heroine does to make her uncle understand that Brodie is the only man she wants. Really, her words are convincing and prove just how in love she is with the hero. I would recommend Highland Redemption by Lori Ann Bailey, if you enjoy Historical Romance, second chance romances or books by authors Tara Kingston, E. Elizabeth Watson, Alyssa Alexander and Jennifer Trethewey.
Who doesn't love seeing star-crossed lovers reunited (with some serious issues to resolve)? This is the second book in the Highland Pride Series, one of my favorites. Great as a standalone, reading the series in order is addictive. Lori Anne Bailey is clever in foreshadowing future events in the overall arc of the series and in building interest in the stories behind characters waiting for their stories to be told. Brodie Cameron was introduced in the first book in the series. He's a very charming rogue with shadows of pain in his eyes. His personality is so engaging, I'm glad his story came next. Skye, heroine of Highland Redemption, is strong, yet vulnerable. Skye and Brodie's story is heartwarming. I particularly love the way Bailey creates an intimate and homey feel in Brodie and Skye's home.
I love the caring, sexy, and steamy interactions between two wounded people trying to heal the past and savor the present.
I'm still wondering about what's between Skye's cousin, Alan, and Laid Lachlan Cameron's sister!
in highland redemption. skye macdonald and brodie cameron have loved each other since they were children. but when skye's father died and brodie was no where to be found, she believed the worst. finding sanctuary with her uncle she refused to see brodie again, instead choosing to believe the stories of his drunkenness and womanizing as evidence that he never loved her.
in her defense, she was young and scared and brodie wasn't there. but it's also not at all true. brodie was away at that time working for the royalist government, as a spy he had missions that required him to be away, but he never would have abandoned skye had he known of her need. he did try to get her back.
the feelings they have for each other are still there when they reconnect. even though years have passed since they were last together, it's as if no time at all has gone by. their love is still this unviolable, unmovable force. even as they sort through the misunderstandings and the guilt they feel for not giving each other the benefit of the doubt, for not fighting harder, the one thing that holds true is that love.
it's as if they both know that this is their second chance, and having lived without one another and knowing that it isn't what they want, they are going to find a way to make sure their love thrives this second go-around.
**highland redemption will publish on november 27, 2017. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (amara) in exchange for my honest review.
4.5 stars While spying for Clan Cameron, Brodie Cameron rescues a lass who’s being kidnapped, only to realize it’s Skye, the woman who’d broken his heart several years ago. He needs to get her to safety as quickly as possible as there is a price on her head but the price on his head is higher than the one on hers. Skye finds herself staring into the eyes of the man she once loved, Brodie Cameron but he left not to return. She’s grateful to be freed, but she’s promised to another. A well written, very well paced book that kept my interest all the way through & I was loathe to put it down. The characters are well developed & I was able to relate to them. Set during the same time as the English Civil War the author conveyed the upheaval that was also happening in Scotland. The book also reflects the violence of the time & the rivalry between clans. I’m thoroughly enjoying the series & look forward to more My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This book was full of adventure, intrigue, and romance so it was hard to put it down! When Brodie rescues a woman from being kidnapped, he doesn't realize it was his old flame, Skye. During their escape, they come to find out what they believed about the other was not true.
During their hiding out from kidnappers and assassins, Brodie and Skye realize that they still love each other but cannot figure out how they could be together, and other secrets from the past are revealed.
When they are faced with almost the same circumstances from their first breakup, the pair each decide to fight harder for their love and won't give up as easily as they did the first time. Brodie comes up with a plan to "retire" the Raven, and they get their HEA.
I did not read the first book in the series about Brodie's brother, Lachlan so I am curious and want to read about his romance.
Brodie Cameron is the Royalist spy known as the Raven. He has been following an old friend, hoping he is not guilty of the raids that he has been blamed for. When he sees him kidnapping a woman Brodie has a choice to make. Skye Cameron has just been told by her uncle that she is to marry. She hopes she can, at least be friends with the man she will never love. There is only one man she will ever love and he abandoned her. Our hero threw himself into his chosen profession when the woman he loved left him. Now it's not safe for anyone to get too close to him. Someone is causing a lot of trouble between the highland clans and there have been more than a few deaths. An exciting action packed highland romance filled with danger and misunderstandings. I loved the characters and the story line . This is not an era of Scottish history that I am familiar with so I was surprised at the problems. Very interesting and very romantic.
Two childhood friends, in love and separated by families. Meet up again, when she is kidnapped. Brodie is a spy and he has to leave all the time for missions. He is really good at it. I enjoyed reading about Skye and Brodie, the way they feel for each other. The descriptions and dialogue are great and fit the actions nicely. The characters are so life like and vital. Ross is a dear friend until Brodie is afraid he will hurt Skye and they get into a brawl. The plot has intrigue, danger and betrayal, Neil is Ross and Brodie's friend but he betrays them. I adored this book, especially when they are looking at the puppies, from the description, they sounded cute. Exciting, action and lots of love I received this ARC free and voluntarily reviewed it.
Looking for a Scottish Highlands vacation where you can walk at your leisure, take in the scenery, have a dram with the locals? This book ticks those boxes and more.
A second chance and an adventure in the highlands while navigating through clan disagreements and an engagement make way for a most memorable journey.
Promises, death, secrets, broken hearts, and the possibility of forgiveness are just a few reasons to read this series.
While this is the second book in the Highland Pride series you are safe to read as a standalone if you wish.
I received and advance reader copy for an honest and fair review.
This book was an enchanting, romantic read with a few surprises intertwined. It left me wanting to read more about what happens with each of the characters. I really liked both Brodie and Skye, though at times I just wanted to shake Brodie and tell him to just tell Skye what happened! Lol! I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review and I can honestly recommend you pick this one up and enjoy. I certainly did.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the highland pride series and this one took me a long time to finally read. The beginning just hadn’t pulled me in very much. However, when the story started building it was actually a pretty good read. I liked that the characters do actually talk to each other instead of just holding everything in which is my pet peeve.
Not so bad, but not good at all. It's just... boring. The H and h are boring characters, the plot is boring, the romance is boring the political subplot is boring and superficial. I just finished this book and I still can't tell whatever the fuck was that about.
Also, every conflict in this novel could be resolved in a five minutes conversation, so the fighting and the running-away seemed pointless. Like the author was trying to fill pages until the characters finished that 5-min-conversation
I had such a good time reading this book. Brodie still loves Skye, in spite of the fact she broke his heart. When they are forced back together by fate, the chemistry steams between the two.
I was sorry to see this book end, I could have happily kept reading about Skye and Brodie. A great romance and good amount of suspense tossed in.
This was a good read for me. The story is fast paced with plenty of drama and suspense. I liked Skye but Brodie could be a bit annoying at times. The story has a good plot and definitely held my interest throughout.
