I’m on a mission of self-discovery…at least, I think I am.
But my dream of writing front page newspaper articles is being overshadowed by my lackluster job at the local radio station. And cupcakes have turned on me, adding to my waistline rather than my happiness.
And then there’s Mike, the guy who took over the coveted breakfast radio show. I don’t like him. His constant attempts at friendship and offers of going for a beer make me doubt his motives. Not to mention he’s way too clinical and kind, and I’m pretty sure he irons his jeans.
We have nothing in common. And it’s not like we’re going to go out a few times and realize we actually find each other interesting.
Besides, why would I need a gorgeous, strong, muscled, ex-drill sergeant who would be able to save me from a potentially dangerous situation…when I have cupcakes?
First of all... the cover is not right! I mean... the girl in the book has a size 14 and she’s always complaining about her “chubby” forms. Second, I felt like the characters moved too fast. One minute they were “enemies” and the next one, they had sex in a different country and told each other “I love you” - I kind of had a problem with this “I love you” thing considering that a few pages earlier, the guy said the still loved his ex wife. Anyway... the good part for me was the action in the end. 😁

This book was a refreshing change to a romance novel. Rosie is cranky, snarly and a little addicted to a good cupcakes. Mike is starting over and has a new appreciation for life and love. He is more than willing to help Rosie opens her mind and heart. She becomes a truly caring and happy person. Amazing what love an a new attitude can lead to love.
Um... I actually don't know where to start with this book. I found this free on Amazon, fell in love with this cute cover and decided to give it a go. It was my first book by Luna Blue.
Well... I have to admit that I skipped most of the book because it was kinda boring. Idk, I just didn't connect with the characters and the story.
Rosie was bitter with life and Mike was all over the place, while saying he still loved his dead wife, at the same time, he was kissing Rosie out of nowhere. It was just weird. I really don't know how to specify my dislike for this book, I just didn't connect with it. The only interesting part was that dangerous one towards the end. It was the only one a read and paid attention to it.
Anyway... this just wasn't for me. I'll try Luna's other books because I don't like judging her writing skills by only reading one book, so I'll try others.
The h think too much. Do I like him, do I dislike him, why I dislike him and so on. And then trying to peel of his layers to get to know him better? I'm not anti-feminism but, if a man try to peel of the h layers, believe me that the feminist will be all over this book. The man was obviously still grieving for his late wife. Leave him alone. Go and think some place else. And stop your horny thought. SMH.
I am new To Luna Blue, love finding new, unique author and their reads ...and will look forward to more from her in the future ... totally was pulled in by the cover. Was curious where it would go ... a quick funny, quirky read for me ... I love a good humorous hilarious read. This is definitely one of those. Well done. ( ;
At the beginning I was a bit unconvinced of the story; Mike tends to open up to Rosie very quickly. But as the story progressed I found it very funny at times, and definitely an entertaining read. I found Rosie very relatable, what with how she's a bit of a loner, though it's self imposed. I also loved all the references to music and musical artists, most of which I knew.
I also loved the ease with which the title was used in speech by the main character, that was very clever! Mike sure can take me on a swim and save my life, any day ;) All in all I'd say this was a really entertaining read.
The story wasn't bad but it felt disjointed. Some parts felt like they came out of nowhere and I just didn't feel it. I did like Rosie and her dog and i felt her need for coffee!
This book was my introduction to author Luna Blue and it was quirky and unique. If I'm 100% honest, I can't say I was in love with it but it was really cute, at times. Rosie is a bitter, grouchy, self-isolating radio DJ. The only full time relationships she has are with her adorable dog, Snip, and the voices in her head, namely her dad and Frank Sinatra.
Mike, a newly hired DJ and genuinely nice person, is out of place in Rosie's world and shakes things up with his...wait for it... niceness. She doesn't like it but she's starting to like him, mainly because she wants to jump his bones. Only after hearing of the heartache of Mike's past and realizing that he really has the right to be bitter, but isn't, Rosie has an epiphany that perhaps her outlook on life needs a makeover. She takes off on the path to an overhaul of her crappy attitude and reluctantly, her addiction to sugar (which frankly will make anyone cranky.)
Although at times cute and funny, being a rather perpetually happy person myself, I found Rosie's inner monologues a bit exhausting but appreciated her candor. Additionally, while Rosie has plenty of build up in her head about getting with Mike, I thought their actual coupling up was a little awkward. It just felt a little forced. Despite that, I enjoyed the quirky couple and can relate to Rosie's upset over the possibility of a world without cupcakes.
A Better Version Of Me is a shorter story of insta lust/love between a sexy ex-drill sergeant named Mike, who has suffered loss in his past, and the very cranky, people hating, Rosie. Obviously she's not big on people, so she offends them all the time when she has to deal with him, and Mike keeps asking her out for a beer. And when she actually accepts, he sees a nice Rosie which he wants more of, while Rosie feels an attractions to Mike, that she wants to change some stuff in herself. When they get sent on a work trip to another country, will Rosie finally let the walls down? This was certainly an entertaining read in a lot of ways, as Rosie was just mean most of it, so I was cracking up. And Mike was so nice, even though, his past could have made him broody, and yet, he put up with Rosie's crusty self. The secondaries that made appearances were hilarious, especially Jan, but I won't give away how. Luna Blue wrote an interesting story, and I'm definitely intrigued to read more by her in the future. I just had issue with the length as it made it too rushed in my opinion when dealing with some emotional issues. And I'll reiterate that it's only MY OPINION. Anyway, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The story has laughs, suspense, secrets, and heartbreak.
This is Rosie and Mike‘s story. When this story started I was not sure I was going to make it through. It was funny but at times confusing. Mike comes off too nice at times but you can tell he has been hurt in his past. But Rosie is crazy in her own way. Grouchy and a little bitter about not getting the job she wanted. The togetherness for this couple came off a little forced and not smooth. The ending chapters were strange but you finally got a little of Mike’s POV. The other POV was a little weird but ended up helping the book a little.
I recommend this book if you like books a little crazy and funny.
I loved the blurb and the cover that's what drew me to this book, but after reading the book it just wasn't for me. I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I wasn't a huge fan of Rosie, but she did win me over by the end. I did like her journey of self discovery to find a better version of her. Mike and Rosie were good for each other. Towards the end action picked up for these two in more ways then one. I will say I enjoyed the second half of the book more. In no way am I saying it's a bad book because the story line was great, but for me not being able to connect to the characters and be invested in them was the hard part for me.
This is a new author to me, and I was not sure what to expect, but I will definitely read more of this authors’ work in the future. This is Rosie and Mike’s story, which is an entertaining read, with the added suspense, secrets, heartbreak, and humour, all of which had me intrigued throughout. The only downside, in my opinion only, was that I found myself getting a tad confused with the story in places. However, as I have stated this is just my opinion, and this will certainly not deter me from reading more of this authors’ work.
I really enjoyed this book. It's contemporary heroine was refreshing and different. A real 'coming of age' story, although Rosie is a bit of a late starter in life. She was easy to relate to and I especially liked her relationship with her dog. A quirky and funny book.
This is a real Australian erotic romance, set in a fictional small town. Hot sex scenes and lots of humour. Well written. Something different for the romance reader.
“A Better Version of Me” by Luna Blue is a sweet love romance with lots of laughing moments. If you can get pass Rosie bad attitude at the beginning of the story, you get to grow with her. Mike brings the best in Rosie as well as his own manliness into the mix. Got to love the two main characters. They both have a sad past that only help them find love in each other. It is a good quick read.
