From USA Today Best- Selling Author comes book one in the Sweet Sin series. All five books can be read as a standalone.
Meet the men of the rock band, Trained in Black.
“Our someday will come soon, Joslyn.” Those words were the last words I heard from Roman Nixon before I walked away.
I knew our someday might come, but not the one he and I had always dreamed about.
His life headed in one direction, mine in the other. While Roman became the lead singer for the successful rock band Trained in Black, I became a ruthless attorney.
He moved on and married someone else. As I was forced to observe him and his bride on the cover of every magazine out there, I deserved to suffer because of what I had done.
What I didn’t expect was a phone call that led to me becoming his new attorney.
After years apart, our opposite worlds collide. This time, we may get our someday. But first, we have to find a way to steer us in the right direction.

The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans is an emotional and sexy 2nd chance romance. From the very first page I knew this book was special and had the power to break my heart into many pieces –and guess what, it surely did. There were so many emotions and feelings that kept me hooked on this story from beginning to end. Joslyn and Roman- we got a hint of their story in Once Upon A Rock Star Anthology where we got a small snippet of their story there. Now we get the full story and what a story it is. These two had a troubled childhood that connected them , a bond that they thought would never be broken but tragedy happened and their bond severed. Roman went on to live his rockstar dream while Joslyn was left behind. Roman never forgot his first love, his true love but he moved on doing his best to stave off the memories of his past, of his pain. He hoped one day he would get to see his true love again. Kind of like that saying “ If you love someone/something, set it free and if they love you, they will return”. Roman always held out he would see Joslyn again. The past between them and how they ended up separated caused tears and tears. I cried so much. I hated that neither of them didn’t try harder but WOW I loved it when Joslyn came back to him in present time. Roman finds himself in jail and in the need of an attorney. His publicist finds him the perfect lawyer...Joslyn. Joslyn has always followed Roman’s rockstar career and kept track of him, even thru his marriage and divorce, and that was a pretty painful time for her but she did it. Now that Roman has her in his life again, he is pulling out all stops to keep her in his life again and will stop at nothing to show Joslyn that they are moving in the Right Direction finally and are headed toward the right place…toward each other.
Thing is, nothing ever is smooth and there are things in their way- like ex-wives causing hate and discontent against Roman and Joslyn, stalkers causing trouble for Joslyn and new found family which is something that hits Joslyn for she didn’t know she had any family and was unaware. Will these two finally be able to live a happy and love filled life or is someone(s) bound to ruin this 2nd chance at love ?
This was an amazing story, filled with intrigue, suspense, passion, angst, action, big emotions, drama, villians and LOVE. I couldn’t help but fall head over hills for this read. Kathy Coopmans did an outstanding job with this book and I cant wait to read more stories in this world.
My Rating: 4.9 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
Audiobook: Narrators – Lacy Laurel and Logan McCallister
This narration was spot on for two characters that were both heartbroken and angst ridden. These narrators excelled at the various ranges required to read both male and female parts. Lacy’s gave Joslyn a feel of vulnerability while Logan’s added a raspy depth to Roman’s giving him a deep sexy timbre.
Roman’s life is a disaster. He’s just gone through a messy divorce when, hounded by the paparazzi, he attacks one of them. Their questions were of the most personal sort. The kind that Roman refuses to ever discuss and the type that attempts to shed a negative light on the one woman he can’t forget.
When Joslyn is called in to represent the man who stole her heart as a teenager, she can’t say no. They have a lot of history together and just as much pain. Now that she’s back in his orbit, Roman is taking advantage of that fact by tying her to him. Unfortunately, the main impetuous to keep her with him is to keep her safe. Someone is setting them up with the out of control paparazzi and the only way they’re going to find their way out of this mess is together.
These characters were always in love with the other but life and bad decisions dealt them a heart breaking and traumatic past. Once reunited, they have to wade through all the pain from their previous lives before they can embrace their happy ever after.
I loved how these two worked together, sometimes impatiently on Roman’s part. It’s a fast paced story with the obvious angst of the broken hearted and plenty of steam. Lots of steam! I loved Roman’s possessive dedication to Joslyn and his determination to keep her. Joslyn was once a young girl, broken, but has grown into a strong independent woman who was more than capable of facing Roman’s strength face on.
I can’t wait for the next!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Story Review: Rocker books are always a "proceed with caution" read for me. The majority seem to have an overload of other women drama due to the famous persona of rockers. I am happy to report you don't have that in this book. Yes, their is an ex-wife drama but the hero is so over her and only refers to her with disgust. Now THAT I can handle.
In fact, I will have to say my favorite part about this book is the fact that Roman has always loved Joslyn and they did not end because of him. When she gets pulled back into his life, he pursues her relentlessly. I can't tell you how happy that made me. I love when a Hero chases the heroine.
This had a great storyline. The ex wife is the drama of the story but like I said it was tolerable due to the feelings of the hero. We got good quality time with the main couple together and a few surprise things happen to keep the story interesting. I look forward to the next one in the book! ARC of audiobook provided by narrator.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans was an emotional, sexy hot, thrilling second chance romance! I was hooked from the beginning!!! This author knows exactly how to captivate her readers. Ah the feels with this book!!! Sooooo many! And I LOVED IT! I can't express how much I LOVED this book!!
Roman and Joslyn both had very difficult childhoods. Only made better by having each other. They were each others best friends, and biggest supporters. So when Roman wins a singing competition, as much as Joslyn wants him to stay, she supports his dream. However she soon decides she wants to be with Roman, then a tragedy unfolds that tears them apart.
When Roman finds himself in jail and needs an attorney, low and behold Joslyn steps back into his life. And their chemistry and connection is still OFF THE CHARTS!!! This story is full of twist and turns. I couldn't read it fast enough to see what was happening next. And in true Kathy Coopmans style, it doesn't come easy for them.
I'm sooooo excited for more of this amazing new series!!!
*I voluntarily read an advance copy from the author. This is my honest review.*
I must be in a major book funk because I am just not feeling it. Although this author does a spectacular job on the filthy talking Roman Nixon and the sexy times, I didn't really care for much else. I felt no connection or emotions from the characters.
It was just an okay story for me. I couldn't really get into it. I struggled to stay focused on the story and read it through to the end. The dynamic of the relationship between Roman and Joslyn just felt so unnatural. All the drama just seemed so overly exaggerated and I found myself rolling my eyes.
A lot of the story was rushed so I didn't get more in depth in the parts where I maybe would've liked. It was like ok this is happening.......end scene.........three days later. UH?!
I don't know, this is my first time reading a book from this author and the blurb sounded great. Unfortunately, this one just wasn't one for me.
** ARC received in exchange for an honest review **
This is absolutely the best book Kathy has written yet. Each book she writes gets better than the one before. I say that after every book of hers I've read and I'm sure I'll say it after I read her next one. This book was completely fantastic.
I loved Roman and Joslyn's story so much. I wish I could experience it again for the first time. Roman and Joslyn had a difficult childhood that was made better by each other. Roman was lucky enough to win a singing contest but the victory was short lived because he was forced to move away and Joslyn couldn't go with him. Soon after Roman left, Joslyn changed her mind and decided to go to Roman. But a car accident on the way to him changed the path of their lives for a few years.
Then Roman finds himself in jail and in the need of an attorney. His publicist finds him the perfect lawyer...Joslyn. She has followed Roman's career over the years as painful as that was for her. He kept up with her as well, until a few years ago. Now that Roman has her in his life again, he will stop at nothing to show her that their lives have finally led them in The Right Direction...to each other.
But there are obstacles along the way...a bitter ex-wife, finding out Joslyn has family she didn't know about, and someone who is out to make sure everyone suffers. Will these two finally be able to live the life they dreamed of or will life try and steer them in the wrong direction again?
I'm so excited to see what else Kathy will give us in this new and amazing series. One click this fabulous book now.
I freaking love this lady and all of the words she writes. Kathy Coopmans is absolutely dynamite in romance and I've been a huge fan since get beginning. Her words are seriously sexy. Her characters are completely addicting. Her novels are brilliantly mesmerizing.
The Right Direction was the perfect romance and such a great start to the seductive Sweet Sin series. A second chance at something beautiful and real that will last a lifetime... Roman and Joslyn are going to make you feel everything in all the best ways possible.
They thought they had forever until life cruelly ripped them apart. Now it's been years and their lives couldn't be more different but one thing has not changed... the magnetic pull that they feel and the love thst their hearts share.
But it's not going to be easy and they have to be ready to fight for their love. He wants her everything. She's trying to adjust to everything that comes with him. Roman is worth it. Joslyn is a fighter. Together they are unbreakable, intense, passionate, sensual, and unforgettable.
I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!
If you haven't met Kathy, then you are truly missing out on something special and...real.
Goodness me! Where do I start with this book?! From the very first page I knew this book was going to break my heart......and it did! The emotions poured off every page, wrapping me up and pulling me in. Damn Kathy Coopmans is amazing! She made me feel every little thing as I tried to tiptoe through this book, but it was so fast paced that I felt like I had whiplash! In a totally good way! Joslyn and Roman stole my heart.......Lord those two had been through so much, experienced so much but they always had each other.......until they didn't. After years apart they collide, so much unsaid and done but that connection!....melted my heart and other things! But there are forces trying to bring them down, mess with their minds. This will keep you on the edge of your seat. A truly beautiful story of second chances and a love so pure and strong. You NEED to read this book!
Very disappointed. The premise and the start of this book was very promising. About one third in, it became very repetitive, in both characters inner dialog about each other and the hot sex scenes. Wish there was more to the actual story. I also expected better editing and a less choppy reading experience for a book by a USA Today best selling Author. Maybe the next book about Dean will fare better.
I got to read what I call a sample of this book in the Once Upon a Rock Star Anthology and I knew that Roman and Joslyn story going to be good. It the Anthology we got to meet these two characters, some of their past history, then we see the present with Roman sitting in jail for hitting someone and Joslyn coming in to be his attorney. The we get a end that leaves us wanting more and thank goodness Kathy didn't make us wait long to see what happens because I wanted the story sooooo bad.
This book will not disappoint it has it all!!! From the beginning to the end you will be flipping pages so fast that you will not realize that you have came to the end and when you get to the end you will be left wanting more. These two characters will leave a last impact on you and their story will forever be in your mind. I love the secondary characters just as much as the main and I hope that Kathy will continue with this series and we will get the rest of the Tainted In Black Men stories.
I cant wait to see what Kathy comes up in her brilliant mind and puts it out to us!!!
**I volunteer to review a ARC copy for a honest review**
This. Is. My. Favorite. Kathy. Coopmans'. book. EVER!!!!! Kathy blew away my expectations of this book. She simply amazes me how much she has grown as an author and storyteller. I haven't loved every book of hers but what gets me is that she seems to use that criticism and delivers stories that are better. That sure has payed off with Joslyn and Roman's story. I did a blind read on this. I didn't read the blurb or anything other than a couple of teasers before I dove it. I knew that it was a Rockstar/Second Chance romance but that was the extent of it. I saw Kathy was coming out with a new series and I pounced. Blurb schmlurb! The whole blind read thing sometimes comes to bite me in the rear and the story turns out to be a subgenre that I don't like or read that often. So not the case with The Right Direction. Nope, I loved the drama, the feels, the sexy, and everything else. I could not put my kindle down. Great job Kathy! I can't wait to get read the next book in this series.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans is the first book in the Sweet Sins Series. Roman Nixon is the leadsinger of Trained in Black, a rock band. Years ago, he and Joslyn were a couple, but he left her behind. Now he´s moved on, is married. Joslyn Reynolds has to observe him from afar and read in magazines about him and his wife. She´s deeply hurt, but would never let it show. Then their worlds collide. She became a lawyer, she still loves him. This book is a great read, well written and has the right amount of drama. The Right Direction has it all, big emotions, drama, villains and victims. It´s a great love story and I can´t wait to read the next book in the series. I give 5 Stars. Thank you, Kathy Coopmans !
As I read this book I kept loving how this couple could deal with all the past to solidify their future. Joslyn has been through so much and yet she still comes out stronger each time. Roman has a past that he doesn't want the paparazzi to get a hold of, until one day. That day changed his life forever, forever it gave him something he lost so long ago. This book is all about second chances of love that was never lost. A passage in the book kept me loving this couple and this story.
"My someday has yet to come. Until then, strength will hold it all inside" this is what love and second chances are. We have a someday and it is coming and Roman and Joslyn finally have it.
The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans is a hot and sexy second chance romance. Roman and Joslyn’s story had me hooked from page one. These two had a troubled childhood that connected them where they formed a bond that they thought couldn’t be broken. They thought life was looking up for them with Roman living his rockstar dream. But, as you know Kathy Coopmans is sure to pull out all the stops with our emotions as well as the unexpected twists and turns. She did just that with this book. I loved how hard they both loved even though tragedy pulled them apart. You are sure to be reading well into the night.
The Right Direction, A Sweet Sin Series Novel by Kathy Coopman. Roman and Joslyn were the love of each other lives. When they left each other life, it was the hardest thing that they both had done. Their lives took totally different paths. Roman became the lead singer in a rock band and Joslyn became an attorney. Little did they know that fate was going to throw them right back into each other’s lives. Watching Roman and Joslyn rekindle their love was amazing. They went through so much to get their someday, and seeing them actually get there was great!!!
DNF. What the heck? The dialogue is this book is awful. Rambling nonsense that makes your head spin. Even the so called lawyer spoke like a bad daytime tv character. I forced myself through three chapters before I couldn’t go any further.
Why have I not read this sooner. This book gave me all the feels. Joslyn & Roman have a love that no one could every destroy until a loss tore there world apart. Roman ugh where do I begin. He is everything u want in a book boyfriend, sexy AF, rockstar, very protective of the ones he love. Absolutely an amazing read that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to read Dean’s story next. I’m definitely hooked on this series.
This book has a lot of darkness, violence and sex, apart from a very strong love story. This is a second chance love story, since the couple were foster children from very young up to senior year of high school. Then Roman left to pursue his dreams of being a rockstar, and Joslyn stayed to pursue her dreams of studying at the University of Michigan. Even though they were supposed to stay in contact and get together again after she finished University, a tragedy happened that split them apart and it’s not until eleven years later that they meet again. Roman was thrown in prison for attacking a paparazzo. He’s just in the throes of divorcing his wife who is a supreme bitch when the slimy jerk asked him a question about Joslyn. He never shares information about Joslyn. Never ever. So when the paparazzo mentions Joslyn, he knows his ex-wife must have found the information about the only woman he’s ever loved and fed it to the press. He went postal and got thrown in prison. Since he fired his lawyer when he realized the lawyer never submitted the prenup that allowed his ex to wipe him out, he’s sitting there, stubbornly refusing the court-appointed lawyer. And guess who arrived to help him out? Joslyn, who is now a flaming lawyer in the city of Los Angeles. There are several conflicts in this story. Roman has a hate relation with Hollywood. He hates all it represents, the relentless pursuit of the press, the many made-up stories, the make believe world of appearances, and the viciousness of the fans when they find their prey. When he finds Joslyn, and knows the press if going to have a field day with her, he went into full blast protective mode, bodyguard, brought her to his home, didn’t want to let her leave. He has a hate relation with his ex-wife Gwen. After he lost contact with Joslyn, he went into a frenzy of women and booze, but always kept away from the press. Then at a photo shoot, he met the photographer’s assistant. He married the woman because she appeared so sweet and next-door girl nice, but she changed into a barracuda who was never satisfied, no matter what Roman gave her. She cheated and he served her divorce papers and she started up a tweet storm against Roman and Joslyn. In the middle of all this storm, the paparazzi are pursuing them everywhere, Joslyn is stubbornly insisting on continuing to work, and Roman is insistent on them having some time apart and alone to re-establish their second chance. There’s an element of danger because there seems to be someone trying to hurt Joslyn, too. The feeling you get is that there is a maelstrom of violent feelings, of lust and love from Roman to Joslyn, and of hate and revenge from Roman to Gwen. His emotions run all over the place, and they are all expressed with a lot of passion and violence. There was one element of joy and positiveness, related to Joslyn and her past, but I don’t want to spoil the happy moment for the readers. Just know that it’s there and it’s a tear-jerker moment. I felt a lot of darkness in this book. I felt that the author wrote in circles, going back and forth in present and past stories, and it was a little confusing. Also, she spent a lot of time in her characters’ heads, expressing their emotions in a very passionate manner, violent when it was Roman’s thoughts. I read a lot of repetition about their issues and feelings and resolutions. Also, Roman spent most of the book with an erection, and he was thinking about sex, talking about sex, planning sex, Skyping sex and sexting. And the sex scenes were miles long. I didn’t get the feeling that the characters grew or dealt with issues, more like rollercoaster over them. The overriding story of this book was the lasting love between Roman and Joslyn, how sad and guilty they felt about their separation years ago, yearning about how life could have been if they had dealt with issues head on at that time, and the resolution that their someday was here to stay and they would defend their love no matter what.
Oh boy! Oh boy! I have a new book from this lady and I couldn't be happier.... These were my first thought once this book popped on my Kindle. I love this lady and each books made me love her even more. I've read a bunch of books from her and every single one was different from the last one. It didn't matter if they belong to the same series because they were different at their on way. Kathy Coopmans is a genius. Her books speak to me in a way that I can't possibly describe how I felt. Her writing is simple yet super detailed, full of meaning, feelings and super hot stuff. Let me just say the you need to buckel up and get ready for the ride. The Right Direction is her latest release and tells the stories of Roman and Joslyn. These two had a past marked by negligence and sadness but they felt complete when they were together. The day Roman won a singing contest both their life's changed. It changed for him because he needed to move away and it changed for her because she lost him. She refused to go with him so while he was becoming famous being a rock God she studied hard and become a lawyer. 11 years old they found each other but in some totally different circumstances because Roman needed a lawyer and Joslyn happens to be one... Things happened for these two that made them be the way they are, unhappy, suspicious and afraid of getting hurt again. Can 11 years of distance be forgotten? Can the old flame light up again? Or is it dead forever? OMG I knew what I was getting myself into but this just blew all my expectations. It is freaking awesome to fall in love with a story the way I did. I can't find the right words... The plot is magnificent, very well written, super engaging. The interation between the characters is beautiful, raw, intense and unforgettable. The way the story progressed left me anxious, nervous, mad, happy, sad and so freaking hot. The suspense is very present and that sole factor made nervous as hell. Jeez.. The unknown... I knew that a book written by this amazing author would be a success but it was so much more. Kathy you are amazing and everyone should know that. Your books make us dream and feel things in a very intense way. Can't wait for your next book from this series. Spring come quickly please... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK!!!!! I think it is one of my top 10 books of the year (maybe top 5). This book is a romance with a real and total love between the hero and heroine. It reminded me of a quote that I am REALLY going to blister, but you will get the gist. “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back it is yours, if it does not, it never really was.” This phenomenal book took me on the whole gamut of emotions, from laughter, to tears, to out and out anger. It made me FEEL to extremes!!! To me, this is the requisite to a great book. Thank you Kathy Coopmans for sharing your fabulous talents with your readers. I also need to thank Molly and the CRC group for leading me to you. Without them, I may not have discovered you. You have become an author that I can count on for a fabulous read. I was gifted with an ARC of this fabulous, heart yanking book for my honest opinion. Ms. Coopmans, I LOVED the epilogue, you brought me to tears again when…… Oops, sorry Ladies, no spoilers from me. Ms. Coopmans you wrote the story, so you obviously know what happened at the end... SIGH! Thank you for reading my review. This book releases on December 6th, 2017. What are you waiting for, go pre-order now? I promise, it is a great book!!!!
I really enjoyed this story, the writing was flawless and the story flowed well. It is full of angst, with lots of emotion, twist's and turns, that makes this an interesting read.
I loved Ms Coopman's main characters, Roman and Joslyn, as they were strong and connected so well. The chemistry between them was evident right from the start and because this is a story of second chance love, we get all the emotion from their past when they were so much younger, colliding with the present day and how they themselves have changed and grown over the years. What is evident though, is what baggage they bring with them and how they deal with the fallout from the missing years. This is a journey of discovery for these two once lovers and what the future holds for them.
This is my first Kathy Coopman book and I did enjoy it, I found it a little slower than I would have liked at times, also it was a touch predictable but in saying that the story picked up tremendously in the second half. It is well worth a read.
5 Star review of The Right Direction by Kathy Coopmans
Audio Review:
Having read and or listened to quite a few books by Kathy Coopmans, I was intrigued by this story. Narrated by Logan McAllister and Lacy Laurel they did a great job of bringing this story to life.
I can’t quite put my finger on it, I’m really not sure why, but it took me a while to get in to this story but I did I find this second chance at love story to be well written and entertaining. Both Roman and Joslyn were strong characters and The Right Direction was emotional, suspenseful and gritty.
Surviving foster care can be so hard and bonds formed are often unbreakable and although they are pulled apart by life, they never forget. When life brings them back together, will this be the beginning of something wonderful or will danger rear it’s ugly head?
Kathy Coopmans managed to surprise me whilst listening to this book and I look forward to reading and listening to more in the future. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
Roman and Joslyn have loved each other since childhood. With both growing up in th welfare system, at their young ago it was because each other is all they had. As they got older everything turned serious.
Roman left to make it as a big time rockstar. He wanted Joslyn to go with him but she refused. She stays behind and becomes a lawyer.
Roman finds himself in need of a lawyer. His publicist finds the perfect one. Roman has never talked about his past so he can't believe his eyes when he sees who his lawyer is.
There seems to be people out there that do know about their past. Joslyn has been through so much heartache herself now they have to go through tons of drama together. Can the people that don't want them together go in the direction or will Roman and Joslyn be headed in the right direction?
Second Chance love story? Second Chance at First Love? A Rocker book? By Kathy Coopmans? Yep I am sold!!! A sad story of first love. Roman and Joslyn had a heartbreaking first round at love. My goodness they met in foster care neither having parents who loved them. Then the breakup that brought me to tears. Then under crazy circumstances came a second chance. Round two was awesome to read the love was still there, the attraction was there. Yep, this couple is HOT. But their reunion wasn't easy it was filled with a crazy ex, ruthless paparazzi and tabloids, kidnapping and almost death. So happy this will be a series. We were teased with the other band members stories. We know each has a sad tale to tell. I can't wait for Deans!!
Roman and Joslyn story starts with them in the spotlight after being thrown in Jail for punching a reporter Roman finds him self face to face with the only person he has ever loved, after all these years he looks into her eyes. sh is the only one he has ever really trusted and now she is helping him get out of jail. can the two be what they once were? Has to much time passed? Can they overcome what they once had and finally be together? The bitter EX wife and the out that Joslyn had a brother that she never knew about. With every page left me wondering what was going to happen, This story OMG it was one of the best that i have had the pleasure of reading. i look forward to reading the rest of the series.
I have to say that The Right Direction is probably my most favorite book by Kathy Coopmans and I'm so excited that it's part of a series. Though I've not read all of her other works, out of the ones I have read, I feel she has grown so much as an author, especially with character development.
There was something about Joslyn and Roman's story that completely sucked in from the very beginning. I could feel the connection between the two of them and knew I was in for a real treat with The Right Direction. The emotions I felt was so overwhelming.
The story was so much more than just your typical rocker romance. I have to say that I was really sad to see it end. It was just THAT good!
A fabulous second chance romance ! Joslyn & Roman they had young love but unfortunately life threw them a curve ball with unfortunate unforeseen situations and an opportunity at stardom. This combination drew a wedge between these young lovers. They have both grown apart but have never forgotten. Now this sexy alpha rocker and beautiful talented lawyer have found themselves smack dab in the middle of a scandal. They are now face to face and must work together or have it all come crumbling down. Will they be able to forgive, heal and move forward to be able once again find that love they lost so many years ago? Loved it !!! ~~Michele McMullen
