What if the man you’ve always wanted is the one you left behind?
Out of work, out of money, out of options. Just when advertising executive, Delaney McBride is about to hit bottom, she learns she’s been left an inheritance – with a catch. She has to return to her hometown and take over her late aunt’s wedding planning business.
Seriously? Not only does Delaney think true love is a myth, but she’s never forgotten the fool she made of herself over Mike Connery, her high school crush.
Mike, now a successful attorney, is executor of the will. A single father, he’s even more cynical about relationships than Delaney. But as the two work together to create happily-ever-after for real life Cinderellas, can their own happy ending be far behind?
DANCING ON THE DRIVE is the second in THE BACHELOR NEXT DOOR series – romantic, fast-paced stories with sparkling dialogue and heroes to die for.
A previous version of this novel was published under the title, The Wedding Heiress.
Pamela Ford is the award-winning author of contemporary and historical romance. She grew up watching old movies, blissfully sighing over the romance; and reading sci-fi and adventure novels, vicariously living the action. The combination probably explains why the books she writes are romantic, happily-ever-afters with plenty of plot.
After graduating from college with a degree in Advertising, Pam spent many years as a copywriter and freelance writer before inserting a plot twist in her career path and writing her first book.
Pam has won numerous awards including the Booksellers Best, the Laurel Wreath, and a gold medal IPPY in the Independent Book Publisher Awards. She is a National Readers' Choice Awards finalist, a Maggie Awards for Excellence finalist, a Kindle Book Awards finalist, and a two-time Golden Heart Finalist.
A very good story. i really enjoyed reading about Delaney and Mike's story. Pamela made me feel as if I knew them. Very well drawn characters. Delaney is so focused on her career, and Mike is sure she's just like his ex and will always put her job before her family. Mike's daughter Angie is a typical pre-teen. Their problems are realistic and believable. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed it, because I enjoyed it.
Dancing on the Drive by Pamela Ford is a charming ROM-com about an old women's very very unusual will and the effects it has on the beneficiaries futures. Delaney McBride is unemployed advertising executive whose finances are hitting rock bottom when she is informed that she is one of her late aunt beneficiaries and stands to inherit one hundred thousand dollars. The money couldn't have come at a more auspicious time but there a catch Delaney will have to return to her hometown and take over her late aunt’s wedding planning business. Delaney however, is not the only inheritor Mike Connery and his buddy Dan and the Henry's are also beneficiaries and have to fill similar tasks to inherit. If any of the beneficiaries fail in their required tasks everyone will forfeit their inheritances and the money and other property will go to Delaney's uncle Joe.
Mike Connery, Delaney old crush is now a lawyer and a single father. He is the executor of the will and is determined to get Delaney back home and into the wedding planning business. Neither Delaney nor Mike believes in a happy-ever-after. Yet will proximity and past history bring these two weary individuals together? Will Delaney stick it out and complete the five wedding her aunt wanted her to finish? DANCING ON THE DRIVE the second in THE BACHELOR NEXT DOOR series is a delightful romantic novel you will truly enjoy reading.

PAM HAS BROUGHT US ANOTHER WINNER!!! Ok, I have to say this is such an incredible read. I fell in love the characters, the storyline, the whole kit-n-caboodle. Pam is fast becoming one of my most favorite authors. When she writes, she brings everything into focus and makes the scenes so realistic you share in whatever the characters share in. If they're happy you're happy. If they're sad you're sad. I love a good book I can sink into. If I can't, I don't consider it a good read. Everything I've read that Pam has written is a reality check. All the characters are relatable, you get to know them almost on a personal level. They're not all about sex, yes there's some in here, but its about the story, the people, the circumstances. You have so many surprises and twists that your attention never wavers. I couldn't put it down until I was finished. I would totally recommend this read to anyone who loves a great love story. Great job Pam.
Delaney McBride was almost broke, had no job and no prospects for one in the immediate future. What she did have was an inheritance from her great aunt. But to claim that, she would have to go back to Birch Harbor and that would mean running into her childhood crush, Mike Connery, who is also one of the group of beneficiaries to her great aunt's will.
The will stipulates that all of the beneficiaries must successfully complete the tasks given for any of them to inherit. To that end, Mike is advised to romance Delaney since it is uncertain that she will stay the course.
This is a really lovely romance, sweet, but not without its conflicts. The characters are easy to relate to and the group dynamics are interesting and often humourous. I particularly liked the two Henrys, who epitomise grumpy old men. It is an easy read, but a most entertaining one, so if you're looking for a feel good story, this fits the bill superbly.
We start out the book meeting Delaney McBride. Who is she? What does she do for a living? What is her story? Who are Mike and Dan? How do the three know one another? What do we learn about Delaney and her hated nickname? What is the 'heir patrol' and why are they together? What needs to be done? This book is pretty funny from the get go once we learn about them! What happens while Delaney is 'back home', the place where she left when she was just a child with her mother? This is a mystery of epic proportions, but everything works out in the end. You really need to read this book to see how things change!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
From the very first page of this exquisitely written book, I was hooked! So much fun, such a great premise, and terrific characters. I am new to Pamela Ford's writing, this being the second book I've read of hers. If every one of her books is as good as the last two, consider me her newest fan! It's a joy to find writing of this calibre in this sub-genre of contemporary romance!!
This book was a bit of a mixed bag. The will that makes everyone work together or get nothing was a good plot device and fairly unique. There were a few really funny scenes and good one-liners. But the characters were flat. I didn't feel that we got to know them very well while the plot was twisting. Overall, I was entertained. I have decided that this all averages out to 4 stars.
A great story of the ugly duckling coming back to the pond as a swan and winning the hero’s heart! This book is full of fun moments and serious moments. I laughed and cried along with Delaney, and rooted for her from the first page.
This book is really sweet and it makes think about what really is important in your life for you, I like it when books makes me think about my life and this one definitely did. That’s why I gave a higher rating from what I normally give to book of its kind. I gave this book a rating of 4 stars out 5 stars. . I got this copy from the author, in exchange for an honest review.
Second Chance Romance This is a sweet second chance romance. The story is nicely done, although very predictable. The author did a nice job of developing the personalities and their complex emotions. I received this book for free and voluntarily chose to post my honest review.
Pamela Ford's Dancing on the Drive was an enjoyable read. She does a great job of bringing the characters to life, especially Delaney and Mike were a fun couple. It was interesting to see how their attraction grows. There is a secondary plot, a bit of a mystery that made the story multi layered. I received a copy of this book from the author
Yes, you can go home again! Who doesn't have a guy that they never got over? Another fabulous book in the series. Ford really knows how to write realistic characters with great romantic tension and humor.
After reading Love on the Lane, I was looking forward to reading the next book in the Bachelor Next Door and I was not disappointed! Delaney and Mike’s story is set against such a fun backdrop and really made me want to keep reading.

I really enjoyed this book. It is quite a quick read but entertaining read.
Delaney is back in town to work in a wedding shop in order to get her share of her Aunt's inheritance - but she doesn't beleive in happy ever after and isn't enjoying being back in town with her high school crush, Mike, who used to tease her when she was growing up. When she does see him again, she realises she still has feelings for him. Delaney is no longer the slightly plump teenager she was, and Mike can't fail to notice that. They can't keep away from each other, but things are complicated, and will it be enough to keep her in town?
First book I have read by this author, and looking forward to reading more.
Sometimes when I pick up in the middle of a series I worry that I will miss important information from an earlier book. That's not the case with the Bachelor Next Door collection as each book is self-contained. I really enjoyed the odd premise of Delaney's great-aunt's will - if those were her conditions, just how eccentric must she have been when she was alive? I could relate to some of Delaney's sentiments throughout the book, even in the few moments when I wanted to shake her for her pig-headedness. The characters stand out on the page, and I don't think there were any that were slighted. The end caught me by surprise, and I felt rather silly for for the assumptions that I had made as I was reading. It was well written, and I would readily pick this one up to read again! I received and advanced copy by volunteered to review.
This was excellent as all of Ms. Ford's books are. I can't wait to move on to the next book in the series. I believe she had updated the covers and perhaps the stories too. If you haven't read any books in The Bachelor Next Door series you should. They are fun romances that will warm your heart.
A nice story set in a small town. Delaney doesn’t believe in for ever love and she learned to count only on herself. Than she goes back to her home town for an inheritance and discovers that if she brave enough to let go of her fears she can open her heartt to the chance of belonging and love.
