Having spent the last two and a half months with my bosses, the thought of spending the holidays alone isn’t ideal. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I feared I would be doing.
Or so I thought.
I probably should’ve learned long ago not to underestimate the men I work for. They do have a way of surprising me when I least expect it.
While I find myself immersed in a lifestyle I am still getting familiar with, spending time with my bosses is proving to be more than I’d originally anticipated. Not only am I experiencing what it means to offer my submission freely, I’m also experiencing something else.
Something that feels a lot like love.
Until they switch things up and make me choose between them. That’s not something I’m capable of doing. After all, not only am I falling in love with one of my bosses, it appears my heart already belongs to two. Except one of those two seems to be rejecting me and I’m at a loss. If only I could let things go back to the way they were in the beginning, return to our original arrangement. If I could do that, it might work out.
Too bad my heart doesn’t seem to be listening to reason.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nicole Edwards spends her days stringing words together to make complete sentences. Sometimes not. Her best friend is coffee, and she has a love/hate relationship with sarcasm. She’s been accused of having a filthy imagination, which she admits is true.
Nicole lives in the suburbs of Austin, Texas. She proudly claims one husband, three grown children, and two bosses (better known as the dogs). When she isn’t writing, watching football or hockey, or keeping her bosses happy, you can probably find her with a book in hand.
Ah, well, even though i am not a fan of BDSM (I have nothing against that lifestyle per se, it's just not smth I can relate to in any aspect, but that doesnt mean I am not curious, lol...fuck it, and every time I do immerse myself in it, I end up thinking...God damn, but nope, not my cuppa), aside from that little fact, the sex scenes Nicole Edwards writes are well thought and researched and damn well described, so that part is always genuinely 'spot on'.
What bothered me, though, was the lack of 'substance' to the story. In fact, instead of growing fond of the characters, I found myself 'trying to find' the reasons to actually like them...so I could root for them...but instead I ended up liking the characters that ended up short, or in other words the 'losers' in this unusual and unconventional sexual exploration...but then again, they did find their substance in the end even though, the whole package (aka the story) presented lacked again, in that exact segment.
Some spoilers talked about, be warned before reading this review. So, let's start with what I enjoyed. I enjoyed the unusual dynamic of all five main characters. I enjoyed the sexy times and the unique story. What I didn't enjoy was the main characters Lucie, Langston and Landon 's lack of communication and honesty. Now correct me if I'm wrong but all the bdsm books I've read stressed honesty and open communication. Lucie repeatedly lied about her feelings, thoughts and her actions. Langston held his feelings to himself until approximately 84% of the damn book! Now you ask why I fixated on these three, it's because throughout the book you are lead to believe these are the main characters. At one point (late in the second book) Lucie states " submission was an act of trust" well they trusted each other with their bodies but not with their feelings and emotions!!! Between Lucie being a doormat which by the way is how she came off instead of a submissive, her repeated calling Langston and Landon (poor excuses for Domes)Sir and Master even when they hadn't earned that title (and I do mean always even in her thoughts that was damn annoying trying to replace their names) Langston keeping his feelings to himself for some unknown reason (we the reader are never told of) Landon loving Lucie but never voicing it because of Langston. The final nail in this book coffin, the three don't get officially together until after 84% of this book then BOOM all three are all in! I'm sorry I like to get to know my characters through their struggles and finding themselves together but also them as a couple not struggle, struggle, struggle then HEA. I really enjoyed the first book and where it was going I however didn't enjoy the second part, which should have been the best part! I love Nicole Edwards and I have adored many of her books this just isn't one of them. ARC provided by author for honest review.
This duology wasn't for me. An incoherent story with a lot of stupidity and unnecessary drama, and mostly I didn't feel the right chemistry among the main actors.
5 Star Review Intrigued Out of Office (Office Intrigue Duet #2) by Nicole Edwards
Firstly both books in this duet are being released on the same day which is totally awesome as we do not have to wait to see what happens. There were so many layers to this book that Nicole Edwards had to break it in two and I totally understand why she did.
As Ms. Edwards states there is a combination of MFM, MF, MM and MMF, throw in BDSM, swapping, sharing, voyeurism and exhibitionism and you have a story that ignites as you read.
Having read all of Ms.Edwards previous book and absolutely devouring the Club Destiny and Walker Brother series, I was excited when I learned about this duet. Two of may favourite genres are BDSM and menage and you will most assuredly find both in this book as well as the next one; this is a seriously hot book and one which will be sure to get you going.
There were moments when I laughed, I cried and at times I wanted to shout with frustration; the communication which is essential in a D/s relationship at times failed.
This is the story of Luciana (call me Luci) and the four men who are her bosses at a PR firm. Langston, his twin brother Landon, Justin and Ben are all dominants, although Ben is actually a switch. While Luci is intrigued by their offer to explore submission she has no idea what she is opening herself up too.
The chemistry between Luci and all the men, but in particular Langston and Landon was off the charts and it most certainly led to many steamy scenes, throw in BDSM and I was always going to be hooked.
However for me, these books are primarily a love story, of overcoming fears, of acceptance, not only of others but of ourselves and with hard work and determination how a person can truly evolve. Intrigued Out of Office is not only about sex, at the heart of this book is a story about finding the courage to look deep inside yourselves and to recognise what you need to make you happy.
I certainly hope that this is not the last we hear about this PR firm, as I certainly fee that there are many more stories to be told and I hope that Nicole Edwards considers writing more about these wonderful characters.
Well done Nicole Edwards, I do believe that this duet as now beaten the Club Destiny series as my favourite to date.
This was an unbelievable read, I started the first book four days ago and when I finished it I jumped right into this one. Not only was it extremely HOT but all five of the main characters were great. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next because there is definitely going to be another book if not two, I need more of Ben, Jason, Luci, Landon, and Langston.
Intrigued Out of Office is the conclusion to the Office Intrigue Duet and it picks up right where Office Intrigue left off, so if you haven't read Office Intrigue stop right now and please go read it or else this story line will not make any sense at all.
We pick up with Luci and her four bosses. However, the plot is thickening, and we can see that the situation between Luci and her four bosses is slowly changing, thanks to first and foremost the actions of Langston, as well as Luci herself. Luci is truly starting to discover and understand who she is as a person, the fact that she is a submissive, as well as her continued discovery of the world of BDSM, and the fact that her four bosses are Dominants, well one of them is a switch aka a Dominant and a submissive.
I have to say that again, this book is PANTS ON FIRE HOT AS WELL!! Wow!! There are some seriously sexy scenes in this book. 4 men, 1 woman...let your mind run wild, and yes, if you can think it Nicole Edwards covered it in this series!! On top of all of that, feelings and emotions are developing and growing, which also brings about the green-eyed monster, jealousy, as well as anger towards the situation, the changes, and each other. Intrigued Out of Office has plot layered upon plot upon plot...and that for me, was the most enjoyable part of this series, and I would have loved to have more of the character-based story telling and a little less sexy times, because there were a whole lot of sexy times in both books, and reading them back-to-back...WOW!!!
Again, this book is extremely well written with extremely well developed and complex characters. And yet again, Langston drove me crazy!! I felt like he forced Luci to make a choice, one that he was not willing to make when he made her make hers, instead of letting things flow naturally. It totally annoyed me that Luci was made to use a specific honorific almost immediately in regards to Langston with no rhyme or reason or thought given to the fact that there were 3 other men involved in this arrangement, especially since, all four of the men are already apart of the BDSM community and completely understand the meaning of the use of the honorific. That honorific and its usage completely changed the dynamics and relationship between these four men, who were the best of friends as well as partners of the PR firm. I also felt as though Langston and Landon commandeered Luci's time, and that they did not go into the arrangement with the same thinking and full disclosure that Justin and Ben did, and that Landon, Langston's identical twin, just followed Langston's lead. I have to admit the thing that really threw me for a loop was that it appears in the BDSM world communication is extremely important and of the utmost imperative, yet, these guys, longtime Dominants, and in many instances, Luci, herself, who can be excused to an extent, because she is just discovering this world and trying to find her way, failed to communicate openly and honestly with each other. However, I must admit that Jordan and Ben were my absolute favorites, and Justin was a very close second. One can only hope that there will be a continuing story for Ben and Justin. I absolutely loved how Nicole Edwards' interwove some of her most beloved characters from her other series in this one!! Catching up with some of my favorite characters from other series in the current series is one of my favorite things about Nicole Edwards books.
So, if you enjoy BDSM and menage, and quadrage, yeah, I made that up!!!, THIS is definitely the series for you. The sexy times are SMOKING HOT AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF THEM!!!
Book 2 is where all the internal feeling for all the characters begins to get addressed. With 4Ds and 2 subs (yes I know my math isn’t adding up) but you will need to read both books to get the big picture. In this book you see where all the characters start to get a better understanding about the relationship that they’ve entered into. Luci really starts to grow in her role as a true submissive and there are changes that are necessary to the relationship. In this book there is the issue of jealousy, as we expected at some point this feeling would have had to rear it’s ugly head. These characters must learn to deal with it and all the other changes that start to take place in this unconventional relationship. As with book 1, book 2 brings even more of the HOT scenes that we have all grown to love in a Nicole Edwards book and she doesn’t disappoint in this book. As with all characters when you start to explore your own feelings you tend to have to be open and honest and with the dynamic of having not the normal 2 people but a total of 5 people communication definitely needed to at the utmost open and honest as everyone can be; however as with feelings it is always the hardest to expose your most inner feelings. I would say that a great part of reading book 2 involved me doing a lot of talking to myself and being pissed off with some of these characters, it was all due to the fact that these characters start to feel like friends. You want to give them advice because you don’t want them to hurt. This only happens when an author is able to gain your attention and make you invest in the story; Nicole Edwards is a master at this. Again my recommendation would be that this book takes you even further into having to be an open-minded about reading about the BDSM world. If you already enjoy reading BDSM, and menage then this is definitely a series for you. If you have never read a Nicole Edwards book then you can start with this one. They are all new characters and the development of her story and the places she takes her characters will not disappoint you as a reader. Nicole thanks for having some of my old faves show up in this series, it was great seeing them again. I guess it’s hard to let go of your friends and your characters are definitely my friends. GREAT GREAT GREAT JOB ON THESE BOOKS. Even though they were long, they were so worth it. Until we see them again….
Intrigued Out of the Office is the second book in Nicole Edward's Office Intrigue Duet. You have to have read Intrigue In The Office first. Trust me you are going to love these books.
Having spent the last tow and a half months with my bosses, the thought of spending the holidays alone isn't ideal. unfortunately, that is exactly what I feared I would be doing. Or so I thought. I probably should have learned long ago not to underestimate the men that I work for. they do have a way of surprising me when I least expect it.
When I find myself immersed in a lifestyle I am still getting familiar with, spending time with my bosses is proving to be more than I had originally anticipated. Not only am I experiencing what it mean to offer my submission freely, I am also experiencing something else. Something that feels an lot like love.
Until they switch things up and make me choose between them. That is not something I am capable of doing. After all, not only am I falling in love with one of my bosses, it appears my heart already belongs to two. Except on of those two seems to be rejecting me and I am at a loss. If nly I could let things go back to the way they were in the beginning, return to our original arrangement. If i could do that, it might work out. Too bad my heart doesn't seem to be listening to reason.
This second book is the deciding point for Luci. She has spent months with her bosses and she finds that she does have feeling for two of them. Only one of the two makes it more than clear that he doesn't want to collar a submissive. Luci is in love. Deeply and madly in love and my heart broke for her. Not for really anything anyone was doing but because Luci was so confused and I don't think she was really sure how to express what she was felling and she certainly didn't want to do anything to disrupt what was going on in the office. No doubt she cares about all four of them, but, two of them are talking things slow and of course the mood in office has changed and that is affecting everyone. They all know what is going on but one of these mean is to suborn to do anyting about it and it sends the entire arrangement into a tail spin. You will just have to read to find out what actually happens and who Luci will end up with.
I loved every singe second of this series. It is a must read especially if you love books about Dom's and menage books.
I previously mentioned in my review of Book #1, I was a total fan of author Nicole Edwards and I will state that again. This woman has a knack for words. Her stories pull you in and hold you until the end.
Book #2 starts where book #1 leaves off and I am a !,000,000,000% sure you want to know where this arrangement goes. I certainly know I sure as hell did. I couldn't put it down. As with any relationship, there is a progression of feelings. Some will grow and develop into more. They evolve into something that was never expected or possibly wanted...but they cannot be denied.
The problem ... Feelings were not part of the agreement. They cause friction. They cause hurt. They cause realization. They cause Love.
P.S. Heed the warnings. If the world of BDSM and sharing is too much for you, than this book is not for you.
Intrigued Out of the Office is the second part of the Office Intrigue Duet but the fabulous Nicole Edwards. Thank God it comes out the same day as Office Intrigue, I'm not sure I could have waited any longer to see how it all ends. It picks up right where Office Intrigue left off. Luci is trying to keep her feelings to herself. It seems she's falling for not one, but two bosses. She doesn't want to spend the holidays alone and she's happily surprised she isn't going to. She has a great time and thinks things might have taken a turn, but that's not the case. She has a big decision to make. Will Luci decide to go after what she wants? Will the men she loves step up and make her theirs? I really enjoyed the ending to this complicated story. It was exactly what I wanted to happen!
This books starts were the first one ended. Unfortunately, I found it to be more of the same. The four Doms are still fighting for Luci attention. As with the first it's obvious which Doms she loves but finds it difficult to express this.
Some of the references made in the book were odd for a young girl. One in particular was Luci was cooking liver and onions for her Dom at the time. I had a hard time believing that this wouldn't have been signature dish for a girl in her twenties. I also found some elements of their BDSM Club experience out of the norm. In most clubs subs wouldn't wear thigh high leather boots. I also thought it was odd that her Doms took her to the club and didn't put on a protective collar on her at least.
Luci forged a few close friendships within the group but I didn't think they were believable. Both her most trusted confidants were Doms. I have a hard time thinking that all 4 of her Bosses were on with this.
After all this group went through , I never got any real connection between any of them. Justin's father is dying and his partner Ben doesn't even try to go to him..
I'm sorry to say this just didn't work for me at all.
I love love love almost anything Mrs Edwards writes. And I did enjoy this story but I didn’t love it. I think I struggled with the crazy amount of lack of communication between the MCs. And I felt so much of it could have been settled ahead they just opened their mouths and talked ha that being said I loved the dynamic and I loved king and Mel so much I kinda wish they get a novella or something. When it comes to over the top stories like this I like that I get all the crazy smut but I also get to fall for solid characters that I want more of I can’t wait for Ben and Justin’s story.
3.5 stars I am having a hard time with them not real following the BDSM lifestyle for example not putting a temporary collar on at the club, both D/s not being honest with each other, her allowing to be friends with 2 other Dom/Domme. Little things and I could keep going. However it is Nicole Edwards and she can tell a story. Glad they finally got the HEA they were looking for. Hope Justin and Ben find what they are looking for in there book.
This is one Hot duet. These to books will keep you turning the pages. You will need your BOYB while reading. The M/M/F scenes amazing. Nicole Edwards moved to a new level with these books. I volunteered to read an advanced readers copy of this book.
I really liked this duet. Yes, there was a lot of sex, but there was also a really good story to go along with it. The sex scenes weren’t there for the sake of having a scene, they did actually help push the story along. Looking forward to the next book.
The one problem I had with this story was Justin and Langston. They are Dominant in some ways and wishy-washy in others...I found that strange. Still enjoyed it, it is Nicole Edwards after all.
I love Nicole Edwards and I love BDSM. I liked the first book, not loved but liked. The idea of this book/series was amazing but it didnt hit home for me. I rang untrue, which is incredibly weird to me because every single one of her other series feels incredibly real, thought out and detailed. This book lacked what i felt was the true BDSM framework and given that it really is a book based in the facets of the lifestyle it surprised me. Even more so because all of her past books mostly DO tell the true story of a BDSM (sometimes "lite" BDSM) relationship. Everyone was hiding their feelings, no one was honest, there was no true depth to the relationship (which is what i normally really love about her books). I hate writing this review but after reading almost every single book by Nicole I was disappointed. However, i will say that i will still be buying book 3. I really want to see what happens with the other 2 characters and i want to give a second chance to the series.
Well, I finished book one and hopped straight into book two, finishing both books in four days. The heat was off the charts. I liked the fact that the author had the submissive behaving like someone new to the scene, someone who was all over the place emotionally, because let's face it, it would be so intense for someone just starting out. It would be especially intense for someone who hasn't really known security and love in their life to give freely of herself straight away. I am so happy things worked out for Luci, but as per usual, I wish this story didn't end. I really hope the author writes something for Justin and Ben. I would love to hear more about their story.
I’m going to repeat what I said in the beginning of my review for Office Intrigue. This book is part two of a two-part story, both books to be released on the same day. I’m following the author’s lead and posting reviews of both books on the same day. So if you haven’t seen it yet, hop on over to my review of the first book before continuing on with this one.
As I mentioned in the other review…this book is NOT for the faint of heart. This is an extremely sexual story and has earned every X in my XXX rating. I’ve made it known that I seriously dislike when people judge a book by saying “too much sex” when it’s labeled as erotica. So please, do not read this book if you have an issue with erotica and/or relationships that are not considered mainstream. Just like with book one, if you enjoy a lot of sizzle and are open-minded, you will really enjoy this book.
Where Office Intrigue introduced us to Luci and her bosses, Landon, Langston, Justin, and Ben and helps us to get a general idea of their situation, this part of the story really delves much deeper into the feelings all the characters start to develop for one another. I loved it! There was chemistry and warm-fuzzies and heartache and love. It was wonderful.
Luci has a serious problem with her self-esteem. Those who don’t understand the Dominant/submissive dynamic might think that’s a given since she’s a submissive. But that’s actually far from true and, in fact, Luci is finding her confidence from being in this unconventional relationship with all these Dominants. She found her power but still has an issue finding her voice.
I’m very thankful Nicole Edwards decided to give us short “Boss Meeting” chapters throughout both books. There were times I found myself getting upset with one of the bosses when there would be a chapter from either his point of view or where he was expressing himself more openly than he did with Luci. Then I’d start to understand his motivations. I am in no way an expert, or even super familiar with the D/s relationship outside of the fictional stories I’ve read so these insights were very helpful.
Ben and Justin remain a bit of a mystery and I can only hope the author decides to give them their HEA someday. I was glad to see more of Jordan in this part of the story and really enjoyed seeing the private side of his life. It definitely helped Luci to open up to him and she needed to have someone to talk to with all that was going on in her life.
As for Langston and Landon, I already knew I liked them. Getting to see their out of the office side really cemented them in my heart. Even though Landon wasn’t particularly happy with his brother through part of this book, they always have each other’s backs and are super supportive of each other and their business partners. They may sometimes be clueless as to what is happening in Luci’s brain, but when they do find out things she keeps close to the vest they are sure to swoop in and give her the love and support she needs and deserves…even when she doesn’t realize that’s what they’re doing.
I want to add in a quick note about this being labeled a BDSM story. Where it does have some BDSM elements, it is more like BDSM light. It may be too much for some temperaments, but if you’re looking for super hard-core whips and chains you will not find it here. There is some punishment and restraints, but nothing over the top for the more main stream mindset.
This second part of the two-part Office Intrigue Duet really elevated the story in so many ways. If you enjoyed the first part you will LOVE this part. Nicole Edwards never lets me down.
(I gave the first book 4 stars so the average for the two is 4.5 stars)
**I received an ARC of this book courtesy of Nicole Edwards. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.**
Intrigued out of the office is part 2 to this series and pulls the entire story together. This book picks up exactly where the first one left off. Luci has finally learned her job descriptions which I have to say a little unconventional even for my twisted mind. With that said, we must remember this is fiction and we read these books to escape and you have been warned by the author that this is erotic and contains lots of sex and if you have issues with all kinds of sex that some might call non-mainstream, do not read this book. I will explain why I gave this book 5 stars. The characters are very well developed, and the story keeps you intrigued until the very end. Luci is a natural submissive but she does have a self esteem issue and even though she has done her research on the lifestyle, I still feel that she not completely understanding open communication. Granted they haven’t been completely honest with her in the beginning and that is also a fault on their behalf. Luci has two friends that reinforce communicating and she seems to still hold her feelings inside but what worse, she assuming they know how she feels. I say this as to give my opinion her the female lead but not in a way that I still didn’t connect to her character and I even like her for the most part. With any story, they will do things to annoy you and that what makes reading so much fun. Langston and Landon are super-hot and even though they are twins, they are very different in personality. I enjoy when we can see vulnerability in our Alpha males and we see them develop throughout the story. Ben and Justin are a mystery but very sexy and they are an important part of this story. Being the genius, we know Niciole is, we get a special treat and maybe a hint to a future series we have been getting hints about in her previous series. I will say that I almost scream when I read that part in the book and discovered who has cross over in the book. If you want to know which book and series, you are going to have to read. If I can give this book more than 5 stores, but I can’t. If this is your kind of kink even if its not but you have an open mind that enjoys super sexy alpha males, this is the book for you.
Intrigued Out of the Office by Nicole Edwards is the second book in the Office Intrigue Duet. This book is not a standalone, I highly recommend to read Office Intrigue first. Both books are full-length novels. These books are not for the faint of heart. They contain explicit sexual contents, including, but not limited to BDSM, swapping, sharing, voyeurism, exhibitionism, m/f/m, m/m, and m/m/f encounters. " -the author. Please take this warning serious.- the reviewer.
Intrigued Out of the Office picks up where Office Intrigue left off. The holidays are around the corner, the office is closed and Luci is about to spend the days alone. So she thought. But her bosses have other plans. While Luci find herself immersed in a lifestyle she´s still getting familiar with, spending time with her bosses is proving to be more than she’d originally anticipated. Expectations are high, mistakes are about to happen and there are some hickups along the way. Luci is eager to please, only the men´s expectations and feelings are not the same as her´s. Hearts and emotions get involved. Favorite Quote: " It was proving true that mixing business with pleasure was a bad idea. "
Intrigued Out of the Office is just like Office Intrigue a captivating story, a kinky, sexy, scorching hot read. I read both books in one sitting (who needs sleep), I couldn´t put it down. I had to know what happens to the characters. This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Nicole Edwards has accomplished just that. The writing is brilliant, I love the story, the characters and the words. I could feel the characters emotions in the words. I highly recommend Intrigued Out of the Office and Intrigued out of the Officeand wish I could give more than 5 Stars. I give 5 kinky Stars. Thank you, Nicole Edwards !!
Intrigued Out of the Office by Nicole Edwards is the second book in a duet that tells the story of Luci and her adventures working in one of the HOTTEST PR Firms in the city, working with four very sexy and intriguing men.
This book picked up exactly where the first book, Office Intrigue, ends. The holidays have arrived and the PR firm where Luci works is closed until after the holidays. Luci is alone for the holidays and she is confused and hurting with how things ended with Landon and Langston. Once again she will be alone, but will she really? Langston and Landon find out about Luci being alone and that is just not acceptable to them. A number of phone calls later everyones Holiday plans have changed.
Move forward to the private Island owned by Landon and Langston’s family and a party unlike any other party Luci has attended. The parties guests are all members of the same BDSM club and the twins threw this party to expose Luci to more of their lifestyle. Will this help or hurt their plans for what is to come. Oh, and lets not forget Ben and Justin, the other two business partners who Luci works for, and share part of her heart. They are looking for a submissive to share their lives and relationship and Luci fits them perfectly.
OK, so for me, I was pretty much a do nothing else until I was finished with this book kind of person. I had hopes and expectations as to how the story would work out, and for a short while I was afraid Nicole would let me down. But I didn’t give her, and the story the credit that was deserved. Just when I thought she wouldn’t have everyones story line resolved or at least alluded to, Nicole provided me with enough of the story to make me smile and happy. I truly believe at this point, she will give us at least one more book in this story line to wrap up the loose ends.
You MUST read Office Intrigue first to realize the power of this story line. SO worth it. Nicole, please add one more book to this story line.
*OFFICE INTRIGUE is book one in the Office Intrigue duet but since book two, INTRIGUED OUT OF THE OFFICE, was released at the same time and I read one right after the other, I'm going to review the entire duet together.*
So, I'll first warn that these books are taboo, erotic (BDSM) office romances and they ..are..SO..freakin'..GOOD!! I'll also be honest and say that books with multiple partners and love triangles generally aren't my first choice but when Nicole Edwards offered this ARC up, I had to grab it (because it's Nicole Edwards!). Ladies and gents, this is no FIFTY SHADES (I read and adored that series so I'm not knocking that story). Luci's tale completely drew me into a whole other world that had me in awe from beginning to end! The connection between Luci and her Doms/bosses (Landon, Langston, Ben and Justin) is obvious, palpable and unmistakably understood. As the story progresses, that connection morphs and twists into something so spectacular and beautiful. I know, it sounds weird..how can a relationship with four men be "beautiful"? BUT the smooth way Ms. Edwards writes made it extremely easy to fall for these characters. Aside from the epically HOT sex, (picture Jim Carrey in The Mask, eyes bugged out of his head in an almost cartoonish way...yeah that was me!) this book describes a young woman's journey of self discovery. And yes, there's all kinds of kink depicted but the bottom line is Luci learning how to TRUST, how to COMMUNICATE, how to LOVE HERSELF and how to LOVE her PARTNER(s). For me, this duet was TEN stars (five for each book = ten!), possibly my favorite Nicole Edwards book ever, one of the best books I read in 2017 and a must for my READ AGAIN E-SHELF!!! It's mostly told from Luci's POV but there's several chapters from the Dom's POV too which made it surprisingly easy to become familiar with each of the four bosses. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I read both these books back to back, and OMG!! Wow!! I honestly don’t remember where book 1 ends, and book 2 begins, so this review is for both books.
Please heed Nicole’s warning about this book. If you aren’t into BDSM—some hardcore—don’t pick up this book. If you are into it, or at least curious with an open mind, get comfortable and buckle up for one hell of a ride!
I’ve been a fan of Nicole’s writing for years. Her cowboys, country singers, sex club owners, and not-so-good guys have been a wonderful escape, and I feel like I know and love them all. When I found out Nicole was writing a BDSM story, I thought it might be something with a little kink. I thought wrong!! These two books tell a very complicated tale about Luciana, a newly-hired secretary in a PR firm, and her bosses: Landon, Langston, Ben, and Justin. They’re all equal partners in the PR firm, and that’s all I’ll say. Getting to know these guys was most of the fun for me. I’d love to be a fly (with a supply of vibrators and lots of batteries) on the wall in some of the offices of this company!
I laughed, screamed swooned (4 hot guys, duh!), wanted to punch something, wanted to cuddle something, squirm—a lot of squirming! I’m still hungover from these books. You feel what everyone in the story is feeling; Nicole is that great of a storyteller. It had everything to make a story great. There are also some great supporting characters I would love to see more of (hint, hint). I am so impressed and proud of Nicole’s bravery in totally changing direction of what we’ve been used to from her. She shocked me a few times w/this story (I texted her in the middle of reading a paragraph because I just had to stop and let her know what I was feeling).
I hope this isn’t the last we see of this PR firm (another hint). Brava, Nicole! Five seriously hot stars!
4 stars for - Intrigued Out Of The Office - book two in the Office Intrigue duet by Nicole Edwards. This book must be read after book one - Office Intrigue - as it picks up immediately after the ending and it has a continuing story line. Fair warning this book contains lots of ménage sex, BDSM and even some man on man love so reader discretion is advised. While book one was primarily focused on interactions while at the office this book (as the title states) brings things outside those four walls and it is spectacular to say the least. Luci has enjoyed her role as secretary for the last few months but finds herself kind of lonely with the office closing for the holidays and having no idea what she will do for the next few weeks. Getting a call from one of her bosses demanding that she be ready to leave for a vacation was the last thing she planned on yet she can't help but be excited for at the same time. Imagine her surprise when she ends up on a tropical island to celebrate Christmas with two men that are becoming so very important to her. Luci is falling hard and fast and it is against all the rules she agreed to in the beginning. What is she going to do when this all crashes and burns... This was a good read that seemed to dive much deeper then book one. We got to learn what really made people tick and see just who and what they become when all their cards are laid out. While I loved book one and couldn't devour it fast enough, book two had a LOT of back and forth between Luci and the guys that really seemed to drag out a bit. I really hope this duet won't be the end of the PR firm I have come to know and LOVE :)
Book 2 picks up at the end of Book 1 so you definitely need to read Office Intrigue first. Luci gets a Christmas surprise by Landon and Langston. She gets more lessons in the role of being a submissive and gets to meet their parents who are also in a M/S relationship. But after the holidays are over, things tense up. As she realizes that she very much wants to be in a submissive relationship with Master and Sir, the dynamics change within the group of the 4 men. The book with lead to an HEA but her journey to get there is a struggle with the things that are now happening. There are more very hot sex scenes in this book but also there were quite a few times my heart was breaking for Luci during these fretful times. I also love the rapport she has with fellow co-worker, Jordan, and it turns out he is a Dom also and in a D/S relationship with his boyfriend. This book has brought out so many of my emotions while reading it and I am very satisfied with how the story has played out during both of these books. I bought the first book and was very pleased when I was given a chance to read an ARC of this book for nothing more than an honest review. I love both of these books so much and for me they both deserve more than 5 stars. I love the way it ended and was really excited to see that we might be getting another book with Justin and Ben and their search for a new secretary. Thank you so much Nicole for giving me a chance to read and review this book.
This is book 2 in the duet. This book was split in 2 because of the length. Book 2 picks up right where book 1 left off. As with my disclaimer in my other review, This book is NOT for the faint of heart. This book contains explicit sexual content and BDSM. If you are not into BDSM then this duet is probably not for you. I will say I am not into the BDSM world but I can read it. This book continues on the adventures of Luci, Langston, Landon, Justin and Ben. You are taken further into the history. You see the feelings really coming out for Luci between Langston and Landon. You can really feel the love that Justin and Ben share but Justin is still afraid to fully embrace just that. There are power plays between the boys that make you think oh boy this isn’t going to end well. You find out things about other characters and Luci learns A LOT about people. This book had my emotions up and down rooting for Luci and all of them then just two of them then none of them. I have to say I really enjoyed the chemistry between all the characters and the way that Ms. Edwards was able to keep the book flowing. It flowed to the point that I didn’t want to put it down. Like I said if you are into BDSM or can look past it and read the story behind it you will really enjoy these books and if you are like me you will come out with a better understanding of the BDSM world. I highly recommend this book as well. Posted 12/7/17
I RECEIVED AN ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW: Welcome to Nicole Edwards newest series, Office Intrigue Duet. While there is a little crossover from the Club Destiny series, this series is a new, wild ride from Nicole and unlike any of her other series. In fact, I kept having to remind myself I was reading Nicole Edwards because she’s masterfully set a new tone that sets this series apart from her other books.
In “Intrigued Out Of Office (Office Intrigue Duet Book 2)”, Luciana Wagner has found the perfect job as administrative assistant, and submissive, to four bosses – twins Langston and Landon and Justin and Ben. The job is rewarding and her bosses trust Luci to organize their meetings and teams. Beyond the job, she’s discovered her submissive side through the extra curricular office games. With Langston and Landon, she’s found a Master in Langston and Sir in Landon. With Justin and Ben, she’s the perfect submissive to share between them.
As Luci’s relationships with her four bosses start to deepen, she finds her heart in the game more than anyone had planned and she’s forced to make a choice. A choice that can ultimately break her heart into a million pieces or leave her satisfied in everyway her heart desires.
This book contains sexual themes of BDSM, MFM and MMF. If this isn’t your cup of tea, move on. If you love Nicole’s books, buckle in – this one is a wild ride and a fresh voice from one of your favorite authors!
