At Second Glance by Raine English was a short quick read. But it was an awesome book. I found it fast paced from the beginning to the end. Claire came home to help her cousin and take some of his dogs from his shelter back to where she worked so they could help find homes for them all.
She runs into Julian and she remembers him from High School, she doesn't have a very high opinion of him. He was mean to her in high school and she remembers. Can they over come the hurdles of their past and make a future together, throw in a dog and I bet they can. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait t read the rest of the set
This is another fantastic story by Raine English. I loved the characters and especially the hero and heroine and of course a wonderful but grizzly little French Bulldog named Tank. Claire comes back to Romance to help her cousin at the Fall Festival at the animal adoption tent and to take any remaining dogs back to New York where she works for Doggie Town.
She stays with her sister who tries to get her to move back to Romance. As they sit down for dinner the night she arrives, Julian stops by and when her sister tells him the woman at the table is her sister Claire, he can’t believe that is the same woman from high school.
When he sits down to eat with them Claire can barely maintain her composure as she really wants to blast him for giving her such a hard time in high school that just made her feel so bad when she already felt like a second fiddle to her beautiful sister.
Now doesn’t this just sound like a great set up to a story you want to read? It does to me as you know that things could go either way with these two and I would want to see if sparks fly for good or bad. And don’t forget Tank and what his task in all this is.
I loved this story, the complex characters and since it is the town of Romance anything could happen.
This story is in the Fall Into Romance 3 a boxed set of multiple stories from multiple authors and I highly recommend you get this set of books. All the stories I have read from this set are awesome and at .99 it’s a real bargain.
I received a copy of this book voluntarily and according to Amazon guidelines I have voluntarily written my review as my honest opinion and did not receive any compensation or anything else for reading this story.
At Second Glance by Raine English is an adorable book. I really enjoyed reading it. It is a sweet & touching story. Claire, was back in Romance, to help her cousin out. He ran the booth for pet adoptions, at the town's festival. She was staying at her sister's house. The first hour there, in walks Julian. He was not the nicest person, to Claire, in school. And it had definitely effected her self esteem. Claire made her feelings clear, she was not happy to see Julian. At the festival, Julian, showed up to see Claire. He was confused, as to why she was so rude to him. Then he saw Tank, a french bull dog. Julian just knew, he wanted him.Tank's owner, had just left him, with her cousin. And Tank was very sad. So Julian asked Claire, to help them adjust to living together. The more time they spent together, Claire saw that Julian, was not the same person, he was in school. 🍁 A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!! 🍁
At Second Glance is a delightful second chance romance. “Tail” is not misspelled in my heading as it is a reference to Tank, the French Bulldog that brings Claire and Julian together.
Claire, who works at a dog day care facility in New York, has returned home to Romance, Oregon for just long enough to help her cousin with his rescue’s adoption booth at the town festival. At least, that is her original plan until Julian, a former high school classmate, enters the picture.
Even though this is a novella, I felt like both Claire and Julian are well enough developed to make me know who they are and feel comfortable with them. Including Tank adds both an extra dimension to their story and is a bonus for those of us who love animals.
At Second Glance is a quick and easy read (I finished in under two hours – with interruptions!) I recommend it to any reader of romance.
You will find romance, dogs, and a small town in these sweet books that take place in Romance, Oregon. I have loved all of the stories. I enjoyed how the characters in the books can be found in some of the other books. One of my favorite stories is At Second Glance by Raine English. Claire Amherst is so real. She has no confidence in herself after high school but the awkward teen has turned into a good looking woman who arrives for a visit back to Romance to see her sister and to help her cousin with his dog adoption at the town's festival. I like Claire's character, who is not afraid to say what she thinks or feels. In this story it may get her into trouble with Julian Barnett. Throw in the dog, Tank and you will not want to put the book down. I own this book as part of the Fall into Romance boxed set.
At Second Glance ( Fall into Romance ) By; Raine English At Second Glance is a wonderful heartwarming romance story. I love the story and the characters, easy to read and well developed. . This story is about two people , Claire and Julian, who fall in love because of ,Tank, a French bulldog, Ms English takes us to Romance, Oregon where the fun starts. This story is not long and you will love it. I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review.
Just finished At Second Glance by Raine English and loved it. It has happy for rescue dogs and growth, maturity and love for adults. The setting is in Romance, Oregon in the fall. Claire is back from New York to help her cousin at an animal rescue booth during the town festival. Falling in love was not her plan. With both dog and man. And the man she falls for was certainly not the man she expected. This was a fun, quick, easy read that will be enjoyed and put a smile on your face. Everyone can use a smile!
This is one of the Fall into Romance boxed set books, but this is a completely new review because I did the Fall into Romance books as a group. A French Bulldog is part of the story. I love when an animal is used throughout a story instead of being there once and then gone. Since I love animals, I could just see Tank doing his doggy things. I have a strong woman in this story, but she is lonely. You might need some tissues before the end of the book. Loved it.
Claire returns to her home-town, Romance, Oregon, to help her cousin at his animal rescue booth at the Romance town festival. Of all people, she runs into Julian—the guy who made fun of her in high school! A French bulldog is also an interesting character in this book, adding to the storyline. You will want to read this, and meet more of the people in Romance!
At Second Glance was originally published in the Fall Into Romance Box Set
This was a sweet story that just left me feeling happy. I loved seeing that Julian had grown from that immature teenager to an amazing man. I’m glad Claire gave him a chance! Her shock when he wanted to adopt Tank was classic. As were her attempts to wiggle out of it. Tank is a sweetheart, and a great matchmaker, too.
I read this as part of the Fall Into Romance boxed set. Lovely story! The authors of this set really worked well together, in letting their main characters be a part of the other author's books. Brent, the owner of Finding Forever, and main character of Finding Forever in Romance, is a cousin of Claire. And of course one of the main characters is an animal. Rrally great series!
Julian teased Claire in high school and she still has hurt feelings about it. Can Julian capture her heart and prove to her that he didn't mean to be cruel? Throw in a previously neglected/abused dog in need of love, can he bring these two together?
When Julian sees Claire again he realizes that she’s not the gray mouse she used to be. But she seems to really dislike him… This book had a good vibe, but it went too fast for my liking. I like the style of this author, but next time I’ll read a full-length novel.
These short novellas have been so heartwarming. This one is about Claire who works for Mason and Riley, who we met in book 1. She goes back to her hometown of Romance to help her cousin with his business. Does Claire find a romance of her own? Love this.
Such a fun book filled with dogs and romance. I just loved Tank the French Bull Dog. Dogs are so smart and I loved how he played Julian so Claire had to come back to his house so he’d eat.
When Claire returns to Romance to help her cousin with a fundraiser for his animal shelter she runs into Julian, a boy from her past, a past she wants to forget. However, she finds herself agreeing to help Julian train his new French Bulldog, and realizes that the man is very different from the boy she remembered.
At Second Glance by Raine English This was a cute story with a sappy ending! High school acquaintances meet again as adults, but although he's always thought she was cute, she dealt with his negative attention with insecurity. Can a troubled dog bring these dog lovers together? Can there be a second glance and a second chance?
