Did You Think I'd Crumble

Rate this book
Have you ever had an ex that you wanted to go back and ask him did he really think he would hurt you…cause you to fall to your knees? Did he REALLY think you would crumble due to his wrong doings? From new author, C. Monet, comes a chaotic masterpiece that revolves around the lives of married couple Cheyanne and Lavelle Baltimore. Their lives are far from the fairytale marriage that everyone prays to experience. Where love is supposed to be the nucleus to every marriage, their nucleus was chaos. The highs and lows of thirty-year-old Cheyanne Baltimore are penned in this debut novel. See, Cheyenne was like every woman that wants the ‘American Dream’. And after marrying her high school sweetheart Lavelle Baltimore, she thought she had just that. But her dream quickly turned into a nightmare and chaos. With the constant infidelity, endless lies and frequent drug use by Lavelle, Cheyanne loses herself in her marriage and becomes a shell of her former self. Their marriage is turned upside down when the one secret that Lavelle desperately tried to keep, comes to light, it is at that point that Cheyanne reaches her breaking point and finds herself wanting to run right out of the small town that she calls Home Sweet Home.
But when you’re married to the most prominent family in town, Cheyenne soon finds out that leaving won’t be as easy as she thought; especially with a mother-in-law like Eva Baltimore, who will do everything in her power to make sure that her family is reflected in a positive light, even if it means getting her hands dirty. Everything that was once familiar to Cheyanne is now foreign. Lavelle’s secret that crippled their marriage seems to open up a chain of events in Cheyanne’s life and she finds herself questioning everyone and everything. She has done all that she could to make her marriage work, but it seemed the more she forgave him, the more she endured. With Cheyanne losing hope, it feels like everything around her is crumbling, but will she will endure through it all or will she crumble too? Find out in the first installment of Did You Think I’d Crumble by C. Monet.

Very powerful and suspenseful... It was so amazingly well written which is rare with most small press prints. Some people have a special gift of story telling and Ms. Monet is one of those people.

The cover of this book and the title captivated me. I immediately felt like this would be one I would love. I tried and tried and almost two weeks after starting it I am finally finished reading it. Cheyenne Baltimore came from the wrong side of the tracks.......the poor and underprivileged side that her wealthy Mother in Law Eva didn't think was suitable marriage material for her spoiled brat of a son. However, Lavelle set his sights on her and the rest was History. This story chronicled both Cheyenne and Lavelle's issues with family, how it impacted their marriage, and addressed a lot of issues that plague a lot of black families. I love the fact that for a debut novel, the Author tried to address a lot of taboo subjects in black families.

The problem was while the storyline had promise the actual story failed to deliver for me. It felt drawn out and I had to force myself to finish reading. There were also more than a few grammatical errors and one too many song lyrics.

Pretty decent read

Too much telling and not enough showing, but a pretty good story nonetheless. I often wish authors would note if a book is going to be part of a series. I generally do not like waiting on the follow-up book, especially if the story doesn’t totally capture my interest as investment in the characters are lost for me.

You Are Absolutely Right, Nicki Minaj! I Did Try! Stop Laughing, It's Not Funny!

I originally wanted to read this, because I thought it was an "Interracial Romance!" But I was wrong! I don't touch urban reads. This book was a hot frickin' mess! No one in this book had any sense of compassion, morals or respect. Just a whole lot of betrayal, cheating, conniving gold-digging lady's, deceit, drama, drugs, lies, mother-in-law drama, pimping out grand-kid, etc. Not even sure how I continued with this shit! This book pissed me off or had me cringing! But like a train wreck! You just can't help yourself or bring yourself to look away. What was very disgusting, disturbing and sad - when a woman puts holes in the condom to secure her future (financially) knowing that same dude has like 5+ other kids with 5+ other women! Like WTF! For real?!? Sorry, but the Dick can't be that Damn good! Hell No! And who suffers the PRECIOUS CHILDREN. Smh. And what the hell was up with all the advertising of fashion labels?!? This book was like a sales pitch for labels. Smh. There was no need for that. I don't care that the main character wore Valentino shoes with Gucci sunglasses, wearing chanel perfume - while driving a black Range Rover with rims! Seriously?!?

Gave An Extra Star For The Ending And Delaney.
(Ends On Cliffhanger)
If I would have known 2nd book would be the actual IR romance between Cheyenne and Delaney (I would have skipped this book)

Secrets and Lies

This is my first time reading a book by this author. My attention was grabbed right from the beginning to the end of this book. I loved how the author developed the characters and you felt their emotions and what they looked like and can imagine the different things that were happening. While reading I felt happy, mad, sad and even laughed out loud at some parts of the storyline. This family and friends had many secrets that they kept to themselves and because of the secrets and lies there was a lot of unnecessary hurt and pain. Any type of abuse is horrible to go through and afraid to tell or get some help.
I difinitly recommend this book to read. You will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to reading book II.

Breathe taking

Did You Think I’d Crumble by C. Monet is a good and excellent read. C. Monet does a good job. She learns how to write a wonderful and emotional story. It’s well written and it’s a page turner.

I enjoyed reading this book and characters. My prayer 🙏🏾 goes to Cheyanne because she doesn’t deserve to treating by her parents, her grandma, Lavelle , Eva, and Lena. Those people are a dead wrong. Especially, I blame on her parents and her grandma for not teaching Chey how to be love and care. Hopefully, Chey and her mom will working on their relationship as mother and daughter.

I can’t wait to read part two of this book. I want to read more books from C. Monet.

Loved it

I cannot wait for part 2!!! I loved the story line. The characters were relatable. Cheyanne is definitely someone we all know or she is who we are. The story is also a testimony that not matter what bad things happen to us, we can still remain good. Cheyanne was a breath of fresh air to everyone around here regardless of the sucky cards she was dealt. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the editing. There were some typos and repetitive language that were a bit distracting, but with this being a first novel, I know pt. 2 will be better. Thank you for sharing this C. Monet. 😘

Definitely A 5 Star Read

I must say this book was very well written and had my attention from the very first page. This book definitely had me on an emotional rollercoaster for Cheyanne but she never gave up not did she back down from anyone who tried to destroy her. And that's what I loved about her character in the book. C.Monet I commend you on a job well done on your first published book. Looking forward to Part 2 as well as many more of your work to come. Congratulations!!!

Invigorating, inspiring, and heartwarming. This book was well-written with a continuous flow of drama. The author has a great job with the thorough content, and the overall

task of writing a novel with various plots. A grand applause for a job well done.
The name used for one character created confusion in several chapters but the reading flow was uninterrupted. Cheyenne, Cheyenne? I am so proud of this author, and I am looking forward to reading the final sequel and all of her other novels.

SPEECHLESS

A five star review isn’t good enough for this book. It was so amazingly well written. To say this is the authors debut release I’m literally astonished. C Monet took her time to develop these characters. Every person introduced no matter how small of a role they played felt significant. She also touched a lot of deep subjects. This book lacked nothing and was full of SUBSTANCE. I️ can not wait for part 2.

Pretty good

This is a really good story line, not the typical. There is some editing issues that continued to disturb my reading process for some reason Savings name kept getting mixed up with Cheyanne's in the story the author may want to correct that. And I started book 2 and it says her son is 10 when in book 1_he is 8 and two years has not passed in the storyline. If you can fight through these things you will enjoy....Moon

Delaney😍

This series was sooo good. Delaney was everything and the love he showed Chey was one a lot of us wish for. I’m so glad she survived everything that she went through and allowed herself to really be loved. I wish Eva evil ass would have suffered, to be me she got off easy. A great ending to a great series

Wow!

That ending has me wanting part two ASAP. Eva Baltimore and her son was crazy as heck. I was truly glad that Chey will finally be able to get rid of them. I want to see where Chey and Delaney’s relationship will end up. I know that Karma is going to wreck havoc with Lena’s behind. Looking forward to reading part two.
