I'm attacked by a man holding a knife who feels me up and leaves bruises. Now what do I do? Tell the authorities, scream? No, I have a hot affair. Really?

This book was absolutely fantastic1 Finished it in 2 days. Never read Nora Roberts, is all of her books this good? I don't know, for many this book will maybe be lame, but I love the romance and passion she is describing between Nicholas and Morgan. Gotta love it.

Una novela entretenida sin ningún giro inesperado, quizás con un final abrupto aunque esperado.

Los personajes son sencillos, al igual que los escenarios. Supongo que me ha faltado más tensión lectora, más pasión y, desde luego, más trama policial.

I really need to stop reading Nora Roberts' early works - they *always* end up frustrating me to no end. This one had a nice setting and the suspense part kept me entertained despite the fact that the bad guy was very easy to guess, but the romance? Nick is an unspeakably arrogant, rude, overbearing asshole who doesn't seem to have any respect for the woman he claims to have fallen in love with. What Morgan sees in him is absolutely incomprehensible to me. Not my cup of tea, I'll stick with her newer works which I find much more enjoyable, thank you very much.

For the first time ever I did not enjoy a Nora Roberts book. The characters were typical - the beautiful girl and the Greek god type guy. The whole story was too predictable and I could not wait to get to the end to start something else. Maybe there is another Nora Roberts, because this book is very unlike the type of book I usually read that has been written by her. Sorry, but did not like this book at all.

Too much romance, not enough plot. At least there was a plot. Not worth reading. Listened on CD while driving

Ah, the early years of romance stories. He is so very male and she is so very female. hahah! I know it sounds ridiculously trite because it was the over the top formula at the time. But we read these little books while our kids were napping. They had to get to the point fast. There was no time for the slow build of well developed characters and romance that made sense. We had dinner to make and housework to get done before our little darlings demanded all our time. This was our 'me time' and their were no audio books. Those came later and could be combined with pushing strollers and vacuuming floors. We carried little cassette players on our belts with little headphones that we sometimes had to stop and push to our ears so as not to miss any moans.
So, in this story our beautiful heroine is visiting her friend (from a previous story) on a island in Greece. She takes a midnight stroll and is accosted by an unknown assailant. Since this is the days before self defense training she shoots daggers at him with her eyes. He pulls a real dagger and she gets quiet.
Not to worry, he has more to his story besides late night assailant. He is rich, handsome and a playboy. There is also more lurking around his story, but you'll have to trudge past all the over the top stuff to get to it like I did. lol!

Agh, I wanted to like it more than I did. I dug the plot - really good mystery and suspense here. Nora's heroes from the 80s are all super arrogant and maybe criminally shady, like they're all shades of a future Roarke. I expect that here, so I'm forgiving of a lot of the caveman and sexist behavior, but this Nick guy was a little too physically aggressive for me to totally dig him. The girl, Morgan, her brain just kinda stopped working whenever she was confronted and that was annoying, because she was pretty confrontational when it came to Nick. They spat venom at each other for most of the book. I don't really enjoy that. But the plot was great?

I just... whatever. Read it if you want. I'm gonna go knock out another Nora Roberts gem from the early 80s now.

An early Nora Roberts novel, and you can tell...
Morgan is visiting her friend in Greece when she comes across the mysterious neighbor with the bad temper. Could he be trusted or is he as bad as he comes across?
Quick listen (in Swedish) but I had trouble connecting with the couple.

ok. For some reason this did not feel like NR writing. Seems lacking in passion (don't get me wrong there were steamy sex scenes but the overall book fell short. IMHO)

When Morgan James leaves her hectic life in New York for a month to visit her friend on the magical Greek island of Lesbos, she has no idea of the snake pit she will set foot in. After a night of swimming, she is threatened with a knife by a mysterious man, but when he steals a kiss she is truly confused. But when she stumbles on a corpse, a victim of the smuggling trade, this mysterious stranger might be the only one who can protect her from certain dead.

This book belongs to Nora Roberts's earlier works and from these earlier works this is by far my favorite book. Even though it borders on the line of sexual assault and the male hero is a true asshole, I've read this at least twenty times and I still love it every single time. It's quite light and fluffy and even though there is a bit of mystery and violence, it is fun and I will read it again sometime.

When I first read the preview for this book, I was excited because I thought it was a more recent release. If I had known this book was released in the 90s, I would have passed.

90s Nora Roberts writing is a helpless, browbeaten female panting after a brutal, abusive, controlling man. The intimate scenes all start with a show of violent force, and the number of times he grabs her hard enough to leave bruises and shakes her is disgusting. I do not recommend this book.

From the first chapter, I wasn’t sure if I would like this book. Again, with the super macho guys, taking whatever they want. It’s just not my thing, you guys! Violent, rapey men just don’t do it for me. (And you know it’s bad when you skip over the hot scenes because you just know they won’t do anything for you based on how the male lead is.)

This book had a bit of a mystery to it – trying to figure out who the smuggler was, and the main male lead trying to catch him – but it just wasn’t that interesting, at least to me. Probably because I had no interest in any of these characters. The only one I kind of liked was Andrew. Nora could have written him a spin off and I would have read it happily. (Well, I would read it now, because of my challenge, but you get my drift.)

Suffice to say, this book was just really not for me. It was bound to happen- I had a good 3 or 4 book run with these older novels of hers, so it was just a matter of time before I reached one I didn’t really like. And I knew going in that some of these books, I would just have to “get through” instead of enjoy. And that’s exactly what I did with this book – I got through it. This was also originally going to be a 2 star review, but at about 68%, it dissolved into a 1 star review.

Not one of my favorite NR books. Of course, the earlier books tend to feature pushy heros, and that's not something I recommend in a book. But just as bad is the stupid prideful heroine who insists on rushing into danger to "help" and only ends up putting herself and others into more danger. Seriously, if you're not trained in any kind of fighting or weapon, and someone who is tells you to stay out of the way while they handle a dangerous situation, why would you choose to endanger them and yourself by getting in the middle of things? Ugh. Stupid. That has nothing to do with being independent or strong or anything positive. It's pride and stubbornness and stupidity. But I think I've said that already.

Sexual assault isn’t sexy. I wanted to enjoy this book but in it the lead man keeps grabbing and forcing the lead woman and while she doesn’t like it she can’t help herself from “giving in” when he is around. This book made me super uncomfortable and I finally just stopped reading it.

this book was exhausting. i didn’t enjoy it. i wish it was a simple holiday romance which i thought it was in the beginning. i hated the mmc, he irked me too many times.

i didn’t like their first meeting. fmc thought she was going to be murdered or raped by mmc.

he touched her in her sleep - that’s another assault in my book when she couldn’t accept or refuse his actions properly. and all this time he gaslighted and made her think that nobody would believe her if she told anyone about him.
“It might be interesting to explain this . . . situation to Alex and Liz. I could claim I was overcome with your beauty. It has a ring of truth. But you won’t scream in any case.”
“Just what makes you so sure?”
“You’d have given me away—or tried to by now—if you were going to.”

there were some phrases in mmc’s pov that raised a lot of red flags.

“He pulled her close, perversely enjoying her resistance.”

“Since when have I cared what you want?” he asked bitterly and propelled her through the front door.”

“He’d touch her if he chose, he thought furiously. No one would stop him.”

“Heartless bitch,” he hissed at her.”

“And he would do just as she asked, he realized . . . and never feel like a man again.”

i didn’t understand why nick as the mmc was kissing ow iona - spoiled rich b*tch.

“He kissed her mechanically, knowing that, after the bottle of champagne she’d drunk, she’d never know the difference. But her taste lingered unpleasantly on his lips. He thought of Morgan, and with a silent, furious oath, crushed his mouth against Iona’s.”

the first time they had sex she was drunk af and again couldn’t give her consent coherently. he didn’t pay it any attention and jumped the opportunity.

i didn’t understand what was the deal with her necklace. every bad thing could’ve been avoided if nick didn’t assume it was from her lover in usa?

nick killed the man and the police captain patted him on the back? wtf.

not my book.

The Right Path is a romantic suspense set on a Greek island.

Morgan has come to stay with friends for a rest from her busy life in New York. When swimming on the beach one evening, she is grabbed and hidden by a stranger, who later lets her go after giving her a passionate kiss. Next her hosts casually mention the smuggling that has gone on along their coastline for centuries. Morgan believes she's already met the smugglers.

I didn't enjoy it as much as some of this author's other romantic suspenses. I disliked Morgan and found the hero rather stereotyped. However a little research revealed that this is quite an early book from this author. I would say that her later books are better.

No es una historia que sea memorable, pero esta tan bien llevada que la intriga te acompaña durante casi toda la historia.

Not the absolute best of Nora but still good enough for a 4 star. Storyline was a little thin… woman on holiday with friends encounters man on beach who grabs her and threatens her with a knife.. subsequently she falls in love with said man even though she suspects he may be a killer and a smuggler.

Morgan comes on holiday for a rest after stopping seeing a boring partner. Nicholas is a hot Greek/ American who has a fabulous villa next door. Following on from their meeting at knife point there is a further murder and what looks like a suicide but might be another murder attempt on people associated with Nicholas. Morgan is determined to find the murderer and to track down the smuggler… this is the basic story.

Characters are fairly flimsy and the storyline is too but as always Nora can pull it off by adding in the slight mystery and plenty of romance.

reissue of one of Nora Roberts first books...

Morgan James - UN translator in New York, five languages... never left US... broke up with luke warm boyfriend… goes to visit her friend on Greek island, who married a Greek man 3 years earlier - where Morgan was the matchmaker...

wealthy Greek tycoon Nicolas Gregoras lives in the dynamic, wild villa next door... an import/exporter - came from money; he actually works for a Greek private investigative company, where he is an undercover operative (killing as needed, uses sex for info if needed - does what needs doing)… he is currently investigating smuggling on his home island... Morgan's host is one of the suspects...

interesting to read a romance story of 30 years ago... exotic local (Lesbos island), wealthy, handsome men... mystery... men who are manly - rough, demanding, domineering... smoking cigarettes...

Morgan keeps being in the wrong place at the wrong time... and running across Nicholas... 1st time they meet, late at night, he puts a knife to her neck and pulls her into the brush... she finds a dead body in the cove...

and Nicholas isn't sure what to do... he's conflicted... he is attracted to her body and spirit... and wants to come clean with her... and wants to be clean for her....

In the end, he catches the bad guys... she doesn't get in the way too badly...

El triunfo del amor

Muy interesante desde el principio con el misterioso protagonista que es el típico chico malo.pero las cosas no son lo que parecen ,lo único que necesitaba un epílogo pero bueno esto ya es típico de esta autora.

Go to visit your best friend, and what might you find? Morgan takes time out to visit her freind Liz on the ocean shore. Did she ever dream she would meet someone so different? As soon as Morgan described her "attacker", I instantly fell in love. With both Morgan and her so called attacker. Then when we were introduced to Nick Gregoras, I got a picture of him in my head. Tall, golden brown skin, black hair, black eyes, and that Greek accent? Instant chills. I got this picture of a handsome dark mysterious man and I got shivers. I was totally hoping for Nick and Morgan to fall in love with each other. I didnt like Iona. She wasnt very nice to Morgan or Liz or even her cousin Alex. I kinda liked Dorian, like a crush like, then when i read in, I began to think that he was a big fake. It was a shame to be proven right about him being fake. **Sigh** Aw well.
THE RIGHT PATH is one of Nora Roberts first romantic mysteries, and an excellent read!! I can't say the plot is completely unpredictable, but it has enough detours and twists to keep you very interested!
Romance diva Nora Roberts weaves another marvelous tale of improbable love.

So, I truly do like Nora and I've been a fan for many years. But this one? Especially when I thought I'd read this before-you know how you get that deja vu feeling?! How you just know you've read it before!? Well, guess what? You, like me, probably did! Like in the '90's! This is one of her earlier ones...And I probably super liked it then, but now? Not so much....cause you know how it's gonna go...BUT!
The characters are defined, the main character is a good looking, dark handsome man, but he's a turd! Likes to assert himself to appear macho...demanding, pushy...but he gets the girl!!
The mystery of the smuggling will keep you turning the pages, the daydreaming of a vacation (your dream) , experiencing intrique, love (in a writer's imagination) being in the Mediterranean.....this is the place.
Again, let me guarantee you that I am an avid Nora fan...And I would normally give a 5star review, but thinking this was something off the press, only to realize I'd already read it years ago, well I deducted a couple stars! It's entertaining...so as a Nora fan, go ahead fill in some extra reading time with a copy of this, but get it at the library!!--P/
