Sabrina Monroe is poised and ready for her future as Mrs. Todd Edward Blakely. Everything seems perfect, but on the big day, suddenly she’s not so sure. Her nicely mapped out life ahead of her, she finds herself in her own movie scene as the runaway bride, climbing out of the bathroom window. All she can think is escape.
Addison Bloom needs a life makeover. She’s travelled the world to find love—and failed. On her way back from yet another friend’s wedding, she starts to feel ill at the mere thought of seeing another veil that’s not hers. Should she go back home and marry her former sweetheart, or stick it out looking for love in her new home?
Sabrina and Addison are both on the run, wanting to escape to a new life. As the two strangers talk at an airport, discovering they have the same job at opposite ends of the country, a crazy idea unfolds—one which might provide the answers they’ve both been looking for.
Is there such a thing as a One Way Ticket to a new life, or will they find they’re running from themselves, not just the past?
Kate O'Keeffe is a USA TODAY bestselling and award-winning author who writes exactly what she loves to read: laugh-out-loud romantic comedies with swoon-worthy heroes and gorgeous feel-good happily ever afters. She lives and loves in beautiful Hawke's Bay, New Zealand with her family and two scruffy but loveable dogs.
When she's not penning her latest story, Kate can be found hiking up hills (slowly), traveling to different countries around the globe (back when we used to be able to do that), and eating chocolate. A lot of it.

This book was fun and was a great adventure away from all the thrillers I have read lately. It was humorous. I loved how it was kind of like an adult take on Freaky Friday. I enjoyed the message behind the book and think a lot of people would find this heart warming as well as fun. The characters were well rounded and I enjoyed their personalities. I definitely would recommend this fun romantic comedy to anyone looking for something light, quick and fun! I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adored this book. Light, fun, with interesting characters, a heartwarming plot, and a bit of romance.
Usually in a book with dual protagonists, I find myself more drawn to one than the other. But I really liked both Addi and Sabrina, and I felt for the situations both of them found themselves in. Both had unique voices that complimented each other. I liked the way they texted back and forth at the beginning of each chapter. Loved the parallels with each trying to placate a difficult customer of the other's flower shop. And I even liked that they both ran flower shops in the first place, because it's a bit different than the jobs that tend to pop up over and over in this genre.
This is the fourth book I've read by O'Keeffe. I hadn't read anything of Baldwin's before, but I absolutely will now. I'm excited to have found another chick lit author to love.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the authors of this book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story is written in alternating POVs of the main characters Sabrina and Addi. The two meet in an airport. Two strangers; Sabrina who had just run away from her wedding by escaping through a window and Addi who was bored with going to weddings when she did not see hers happening anytime soon. A long conversation in an airport and they get the crazy idea to switch lives. Normally people will joke about something like this and forget about it but not this two.
They actually switch lives! The switch obviously brings about some changes in their lives. At a personal level they develop and find themselves. One of the characters also finally gets the courage to stand up to her mother. There is some romance of course. One of the ladies falls in love with an unexpected someone(you just have to read the book to find out).
It was quite entertaining to read about how they navigated each others lives business all the while trying to find themselves and enjoying their new homes. Although the two characters were too similar, l loved Addison more. Something about her way of thinking reminded me of myself.
I think this book would have been so much better if the characters were not a copy of each other in many aspects. Sometimes I could not tell who was who until Sabrina thought of her almost wedding then I could tell. The ending also seemed rushed to me with the authors trying to tie all loose ends as fast as possible. The romance was weird and I wish it could have been better developed so that all the feelings involved would seem realistic.
Nevertheless if you are looking for a beach read, a chicklit book to add to your tbr list or just a quick and fun read then this is the book for you.
A Hallmark movie in writing! I absolutely adored this book, from start to finish.
Switching lives seems quite extreme but in this day and age, I wouldn’t be surprised if this sort of thing actually happens. Addison and Sabrina are in the right (or wrong) place in exactly the right time...and when the events of their separate lives unfold, what was falling apart was really just falling into place.
I couldn’t put it down, the banter between each, the accents (oh, I love a good accent!), and across the country switch...a perfect arrangement for two lost florists in a sea of blooming possibilities.
I will absolutely be looking up each of these authors and I do hope they write together again. Feel good, light, and lovable...perfect read!
A great collaboration by two fantastic authors! One Way Ticket is your ticket to a fun, fast read full of interesting characters and likable heroines. Addi and Sabrina meet after Sabrina makes a run through the airport in her wedding dress - a great visual that I can't get out of my mind! Looking forward to reading more from Melissa Baldwin and Kate O'Keeffe.
This was a delightful, fast paced read. I had a huge smile on for most of the book. The stories of Addison and Sabrina although not completely believable and a little too convenient, I liked it that the authors called it out themselves with their fairy-godmother and guardian angel references :). Moving past that, the stories were very engaging and although you are not really supposed to have a favorite in these dual POV books - I loved Addison. I thought her battle and her obstacles were genuine and she had a lot to lose either by foregoing her true love or her friendship. It helped that she was a whole lot funnier. I laughed a lot in the initial sequences. I was genuinely happy for her relationship and I felt for her internal struggle with Sabrina because of it
Sabrina on the other hand was a little tough to love, albeit still a very good character. I have read many books on different reasons for why somebody leaves somebody at the altar and I find myself unable to sympathize fully with such characters. Especially somebody who leaves the other when knowing things were not right all along but still went along with it because of a couple of domineering mothers. But she does redeem herself and becomes stronger in the end and it helps the groom gets his happily ever after elsewhere and she finds her own happiness and true love.
Fabulous read overall, love Kate O'Keeffe's books already having devoured the Last First Dates series. My first read of Melissa Baldwin and won't be the last! :)
I received a copy of One Way Ticket by Kate O'Keeffe & Melissa Baldwin from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was intrigued by the summary and found this novel to be decent overall. It took a while for me to get into the book due to the pacing and switching viewpoints. I did find the plot to be predictable and Addison's character was much less likeable than Sabrina's, but it was never a chore to continue reading. Overall, One Way Ticket was a fun read - and a quick read.
One Way Ticket by Melissa Baldwin and Kate O’Keeffe was a wonderful romantic comedy. When I read the synopsis, I knew I it was going to be a great book because of the plot, and I was right!
Sabrina and Addison meet in an airport. Addi is flying back to Orlando from yet another wedding that wasn’t hers. Sabrina is running through DFW airport escaping from her wedding. As Addi helps Sabrina, the two talk and find out they both have a lot in common. Both are florists, Addi’s shop in Orlando, and Sabrina’s in San Francisco. In addition, both want to escape their realities for just a little while. Each think how wonderful it would be to just leave their lives for just a little bit, so the two come up with a crazy plan….switch lives. Addi will live in Sabrina’s apartment and run her shop, and Sabrina will do the same thing. How hard could that be? Things are going smoothly until each one meet men who could definitely complicate things.
As I wrote earlier, I loved the concept of the book. With great characters and great writing, this writing duo have come up with a perfect romantic comedy. Every chapter is told in either Addi’s or Sabrina’s POV. Not only did it give a deeper insight to the character, but it also allowed me to see each of their new experiences through their eyes. I could feel their excitement of being in a new city, and I especially felt their emotions from meeting the new men in their lives. Each woman was a woman that I would want to be friends with. One of the best things about the book was a twist the authors threw in. It definitely makes for an even more interesting read.
It’s been a while since I have read a good romantic, chick lit book, and I’m so glad I discovered this talented duo. I can’t wait to read more from them.
***Read and Reviewed for Devilishly Delicious Book Reviews***
We’ve all been told we can’t run away from a problem. It’s a good thing authors Melissa Baldwin and Kate O’Keeffe didn’t have their characters Sabrina and Addison follow this piece of advice. Rarely has ditching the best laid plans (not to mention a highly desirable groom-to-be) been more fun or satisfying.
In a moment of serendipity, two women, each in need of a new life plan, meet and take the leap to swap lives. Sabrina and Addi inherit not only opportunities to regroup, but also an engaging cast of characters — from powerful clients who thrive on making them quake in their high heels to men who make their knees buckle — in their borrowed lives. Baldwin and O’Keeffe skillfully guide our heroines as they find their footing and search for their happily-ever-afters.
Told from dual points of view, “One Way Ticket” is full of warmth and humor, making it an easy, breezy, enjoyable read.
This was a great story about taking a leap to find what will make you happy. Was it Fate or just Luck that brought these two young ladies together on one's worse day of her life and the other at a time when she needs to take a look at her life? I have read books by Kate O'Keeffe but this is the first by Melissa Baldwin I have read and I found that I enjoyed their partnership in writing to be well suited. I believed everyone should be able to relate to either character in some way and at some time in his or her own lives as the authors share this story with us. The flow of the story was good and the little bit of text communication at the start of each chapter was a great idea. It had me laughing, feeling sorry for the characters and amused at some of the flower shop customers antics. I read this delightful ARC copy and this is my honest and voluntary review of this book that I would recommend to any Rom-com readers. A 4 and a half stars for me.
One of the best feel good romantic comedies I’ve ever read!
Addison and Sabrina meet, they find out they’re both not happy with their life, and they decide to switch lives. And so it all began. Exciting! And a bit wacky. What a crazy move… and I loved it! I loved both Addison and Sabrina, but secretly, Addi was my favorite. Addi made me laugh out loud several times. The whole Velma incident? Hilarious! The whole foot-in-mouth-thing when her Knight in Shining Sneakers stands before her? Totally cracked me up! Oh, and the bum-thing? LOL!! I could go on but you’ll just have to read for yourself! This book was exactly what I had expected, and more, so much more! It’s not only about finding love, but also about personal growth. I highly, highly recommend this book!
I could not wait to read this book, as both Melissa Baldwin and Kate O'Keeffe are immediate one-click authors for me, and this book did not disappoint! The writing between the duo is so smooth that you cannot figure who wrote what BUT I have my suspicions only because of their backgrounds. I cannot wait for another book from these two! A delightful read for a weekend getaway!
I have just recently started reading Kate O'Keeffe's books and I'm an totally enjoying her romantic comedies.
I have to say that "One Way Ticket" that Kate wrote with Melissa Baldwin, has turned out to be my favorite of everything I've read so far. Great characters that kept my interest and I didn't want to put the book down until I finished the story.
I highly recommend "One Way Ticket" it's an nice lighthearted read.
This was a really fun book with a great premise. I loved Addi from the start, and while Sabrina got off to a shaky start with me, I really liked her by the end. The love interests were perfect, and the descriptions of San Francisco and Orlando made me want to visit each location. If you're looking for a good beach read, this story is for you!
This was such a great book!!! Kate O'Keefe and Melissa Baldwin created sheer perfection together. The 2 protagonists take turns telling the story back and forth from their point of view and they both just flow so well together and you can't help but to love both of these characters! The writing is fantastic and the descriptions are completely dead on! Several times places were mentioned in the book that I've been to often and I can attest that their descriptions were completely accurate and create the perfect imagery! I was completely engrossed from cover to cover and became completely invested in these characters' lives.
4.5 Stars. I received a copy of One Way Ticket by Kate O'Keeffe & Melissa Baldwin from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this story! Addi and Sabrina were unlikely friends in a unique situation. They take a huge chance and it pays pff. They find themselves while getting lost in a new city. I typically have a hard time with dual main characters but in this case they were both delightful. One Way Ticket was funny, charming, and adorable.
The first chapter hooks you fast. You'll love how Sabrina and Addi "trade lives" after meeting at the airport with Sabrina running in her wedding dress. These funny, sweet ladies will have you laughing and wondering "Would I ever change lives with someone" ? It made me fall in love with San Francisco (again), good guys, flowers and friendship. I read it in one sitting and you won't be able to put it down.
I loved the way two amazing authors were able to intertwine the lives of two strangers who were really much more alike than they realize. Sabrina, running from her life and Addison, needing a bit of help with her own, were there for each other at just the right time. Loved this book! Hoping for more!
I have to say I really loved this book! It's such a sweet, romantic, fun and light story; I couldn't stop reading it. It was definitely a great decision for Melissa and Kate to co-author this book! Truly enjoyed it!
One Way Ticket: A romantic comedy by Melissa Baldwin and Kate O'Keeffe is a fun escape from life book. Addison and Sabrina meet at an airport and decide to trade lives. Both women own florist shops, one in Orlando and the other in San Francisco. I love the characters in this book and the plot was very interesting. I look forward to reading more books by these authors. If you enjoy romantic comedies I strongly recommend this book.
I was given a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.
Picture yourself at a busy airport, standing at the departure board, checking to see if your flight to Fargo is on time. After double-checking your gate number, your eye drifts down- Fresno, Ft. Lauderdale, Las Vega, New Orleans, New York. Don’t you feel exhilarated and hopeful just thinking momentarily about ditching your business trip and flying somewhere fabulous?
Now picture yourself at a busy airport, double checking that you have your boarding pass when you hear laughs and cheers and you see something white-ish dashing by. It’s a runaway bride! What if you met up with her in the bathroom and chatted with her? Then WHAT IF YOU SWITCHED LIVES WITH HER?
This is the premise of this adorable, fun and creative Romantic Comedy. Sabrina is the runaway bride from San Francisco, who ditched her groom at the altar in Dallas. She is helped in her time of need at the Dallas airport by Addison, Addi for short. Addi moved from New Zealand to Orlando because of a boyfriend who then ended up dumping her. She is not keen on her current life sitch. When Sabrina and Addi realize that they are both florists- then snap- why not switch lives to get a new perspective! Addi goes to San Fran and Sabrina heads to Orlando. They both look for new lives and end up finding new loves.
“The idea of being able to escape my life, trying something new in a new city had felt exciting.” A fun and charming read- what I liked best were the scenes from each city, the views of SF Bay, the restaurants in Orlando. Addi and Sabrina were likeable and the guys they meet are well-rounded and loveable, too. And I adored the whole concept of the story. What I wasn’t as keen on- that the older ladies in the book were all kinda cranky and one-dimensional.
I have loved the writing of both authors- having them join forces to create this fresh story made me happy ever after! Watch out who you meet in the airport. This is a pleasant and light-hearted read and I recommend it!
I found this book discounted on Amazon via Bookbub; this is my honest review -Fun romantic comedy, with a bit of mystery and a few catty-like villains. Entertaining to say the least, it's quite easy to read in one or two sittings. -Addison Bloom wants to get married and Sabrina Monroe is the runaway bride. I mixed-up the names and the customers a few too many times, mostly because both girls were living the same problems with the other's clients. Then, you have their new assistants, the "friends", and the one their heart attached to (Ethan and Todd). -No one needs a Priscilla/Bitsy as their mother or a Naomi as their friend, but everyone should have at least a Leonardo or an Isabella. -I was confused why Sabrina had to "picked up my phone and scrolled through my contacts" to find Todd; shouldn't he be in your favorites??? He's your fiancé after all. Also confused about the fact that she had two sets of keys in the same place. One she gave to Addison and the second set was used when she came back and used it to open the door at her place. - I thought Addison was a real idiot when she told Tony from NZ about Sabrina and the whole story, right in front of a bunch of people. First, it wasn't her story to tell; second, you should have sought privacy; third, your BFF doesn't need to know everything in your life. -Tonya is no better concerning Geoff with Addison's life. Geoff came off as clingy and desperate. -Hilarious encounter when Todd comes to visit Addy at the story and they are both polite and proper. -The fact that Sabrina thinks she owes Addy a lot is repeated too many times and I really didn't see how since they both made the decisions together before going forward. -I was devastated when, after many margaritas, Todd and Addy drove back home. Alcoholic levels must have been high. -There is an unsolved mystery as to why Naomi was at Addy's place. -If you're going to write in French, at least add the accents where they belong. Otherwise, speaking of editing, missing words here and there but not too much to distract. -A bit of unprofessionalism from Addy when she decides that instead of working on the load at work waiting for her with a deadline, to work on her love life with Geoff instead. -Not sure which author thinks the bigger the ring, the more a lady deserves it but this is wrong on so many levels.
Melissa Baldwin and Kate O’Keeffe are two chick lit authors I’m very familiar with, so when I saw their names together on ONE WAY TICKET, you bet I got excited to read this. The blurb sounded promising, I loved the cover and from chapter one, I was happily engaged in this one. Addison Bloom meets Sabrina Monroe at the airport – in her wedding dress. Sabrina is the classic runaway bride, crawling out of a window to escape her wedding. Addison is still smarting from having made a huge life change for love and having that implode, and is coming back from yet another wedding for a friend. The two women meet and agree … to switch lives. Sure, that might seem a little out there but I honestly thought it worked for them. Both run a floral shop so it was easy for them to switch careers, and it just seemed like the right thing for them to do, and I was eager to see how their switch would go. I had a blast seeing how everything started to come together for each character. There were certain areas that could have come across as too predictable, but that didn’t bother me because it was so fun reading this. I loved the flower shop lingo, all the romantic entanglements, and the friendship that started to form between Sabrina and Addison. I read this book very quickly because it was so entertaining, and would highly recommend you add this to your reading list if you are a lover of chick lit! Reviewed for Readers Favorite
What a unique and refreshing twist on living vicariously through someone else’s experiences! At first I wondered, just as much as the characters had, how their ideas and brainstorming would unfold. Where would it take them, and ultimately, where would it lead? Then I found myself very much engrossed and invested in what Sabrina and Addison discover during their crazy journey, wanting to find out how they’d tackle the next hurdle, the next adventure, or should I say, misadventure.
I liked having insight into both Sabrina and Addison’s experiences. Written in alternating points of view allowed for that. It also gave me a better idea of who each character is, deep down, and how that relates to everything going on around them. It also allowed me to see the bigger picture, the background of where this story takes place, on opposite ends of the country; plenty of sunshine in Orlando, plenty of sea air in San Francisco, well described for both cities. I felt as though those two locations really added another layer to who these women are, and what makes them tick.
Fate has a way of bringing two people together, that ordinarily would never have entered into one another’s lives, as is the case for Sabrina and Addison. I think the thing I respected the most about this friendship, is their ability to lean on one another, even when faced with such an odd situation that usually would never present itself. This relationship may not span several years, but for what it’s worth, what they’ve been through has brought them together in such a way, that they’ve formed an impenetrable tie that sees them through, something I’m sure most of us strive for in our own friendships.
A fun premise with two charming locations; both POVs paint a wonderfully detailed picture of the two cities and their differences, in both vibe and culture. But, even though both Addi and Sabrina were each likable characters, I never got a sense of particularly high stakes for either of them, especially considering Sabrina ran out on her fiance. The consequences of her actions felt glossed over, to the point where I personally found it hard to suspend belief. (Sorry, I don't think anyone would be THAT forgiving.) At the very least, they both behaved irresponsibly (taking off to opposite ends of the country without telling family/friends/employees) yet there was never any significant fallout. I was also disappointed, considering the great friendship established between Sabrina and Addi, that out of the 12 supporting female characters, only 4 of them are described as likable or friendly. The remaining 8 are all depicted as being domineering, ugly or unfashionable, dishonest or plotting against the main characters. Otherwise, though, it was a quick easy read.
Addison is tired of gong to friends' weddings. When will she get her own happy ending? Endings she has plenty of. After one more wedding she is at the airport ready to fly home when she sees what will become a Youtube sensation - a woman in wedding dress dashing about the airport. She can tell immediately this woman is not hurrying to get to her wedding. This is an escape! While everyone else gapes and videos, Addi feels she must do something more positive. She lends the run-away bride some more appropriate clothing and offers her a drink and a shoulder. While talking, Sabrina offers the information that she is a florist, which coincidentally is Addi's occupation, and that although she loves her long term boyfriend, the wedding was not as much their idea as their mothers'. Not to give more away - the two decide to switch lives for a "cooling off" period. This book was fun. The characters are likable and well developed, including a couple of support characters. Getting away to two new locations was great for an escape read.
This book is written on a plot which each of us can identify with. There comes a moment in everyone's life when one wants to exchange the current scenario with someone else's life. This is what this book is all about. A bride running from her wedding and a girl tired of the current state of life meet at the airport and exchange their house keys and addresses and thus a spectacular story of life altering events begins. This was a very unique and interesting read. I recommend this book to all the readers. I received an ARC of this copy for free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
