Ein dag får Ela nok av undertrykkinga og manar til opprør. Det er farlegare enn ho anar, for Ingmor treng noko berre Ela har …

[Audiobook]

This was a good story, but I did not like the way it was told. I had a hard time focusing, it didn't really catch my interest as it should have. From the start, there were all together too many foreign words and too many characters involved, a bit unevenly told from different perspectives as well. It was hard to get invested in anyone.

The dictionary at the end of the book is no help if you choose to listen to the audiobook. And you'll probably want it, since chinese words appear constantly throughout the story.

And that brings me to another issue with this book. This is a norwegian book, so what is the need for the amount of chinese? Are the authors not able to make the story feel foreign and futuristic without it? Are they too uncomfortable with swearing to write it in norwegian (because these kids are seriously foul mouthed). As far as I could tell, the amount of chinese (and a swedish word added here and there as well) did nothing to further or support the story. It seemed redundant, and therefor just bothered the flow of the story.

So in summary, I felt it was a good concept and story, but the telling of it didn't work for me.
