The biggest test of Dane's life comes down to this: Can he give Shana everything she wants from him? Ex-special ops legend Dane Blaise is staking his life on passing every one of Shana's tests for him. Desperation to keep her with him made him crazy enough to agree to take a divorce case. He'd sworn never to take a follow-the-cheating-spouse case since the day they'd started Beachcomber Investigations together.
She was tough and gorgeous, but Shana George never expected much from men romantically speaking. Then again, she never thought she'd quit her dream job at Scotland Yard to work as a private-eye on Martha's Vineyard. There was no explaining how Dane made her crazy enough to hope. Too many times she came close to leaving. Now she can't live through another round of dashed hope without leaving for good. This case could be her last.
But Even a simple divorce case turns dangerous for Beachcomber Investigations while Dane & Shana's resolve to stay together is tested to the end.
Beachcomber Test by Stephanie Queen is the 7th book in her Beachcomber Investigations series that is fondly called “a romantic detective series”. This is my first read and as I have always been a fan of detective stories I jumped in feet first (why the hell not when the leads are a tough and gorgeous ex-Scotland Yard detective and an ex-special ops legend working as a private-eye on Martha’s Vineyard. I guess you could read this story as a standalone like I did but after finishing it, I have to admit, I wish I had read at least some of the stories before! This particular story is a simple divorce case turning into a dangerous affair and I am sure the ex-special ops legend Dane Blaise cursed the day when the gorgeous ex-Scotland Yard Shana George made him crazy enough to take the follow-the-cheating-spouse case! I loved their chemistry; I loved their idiosyncrasies, their perception of each other, their drive, their close friends and their local ‘fans’. I promise you couple of phenomenal hours where you laugh and bite your nails and once you get to the end, you will seriously consider giving yourself a Christmas present aka the first 6 books and novellas of the Beachcomber Investigations! You will not regret! And you might even start considering a short trip over to the Vineyard …
Beachcomber Test: Beachcomber Investigations Book 7 - a Romantic Detective Series
By Stephanie Queen
5 Stars
I seriously never want this series to end, I love these people. Dane and Shana have come a long way and although you see hope that there might be a future for these two outside of their “business partnership”, I still see where there could still be so many more obstacles for them and those are the most fun to read about in my opinion. I have stated before in other reviews how much I love Cap and Acer and this book made me want even more stories maybe focussing on them a bit more.
I still think this would make an amazing TV show and can't quite make up my mind who would play who if that happened, I just know Id watch it over and over just like I plan to come back and read this series over and over. The writing style of this author just gets better and better with each book I read, turning pages so fast because the action just never ends, and there's never ever a dull moment.
You seriously have to read these books in order to fully appreciate these characters. Ronnie is still a favorite as well and I'm thinking there could be many stories ahead involving him.
This was an amazing addition to this already amazing series and I can not wait for more!!
****4 Stars**** Beachcomber Test: a Beachcomber Investigations Book #7 by Stephanie Queen
Beachcomber Test: a Beachcomber Investigations Book #7 by Stephanie Queen is a nice 4 Star novel. This detective story is filled with action, suspense, and romance. There were twists and turns in the form of a quick mystery. Dane and Shana figured this case would be a quick and easy divorce case, however it ended up turning out to be much more.
This book can be read as a stand-alone, which is what I did. However, I think it would’ve been nice to have had more of the backstory of the characters. The storyline still made sense without having read any other books in the series, but I believe there are things that probably would’ve added to the storyline and had me feel more connected to the characters. If you enjoy this story, you should probably go back and start from the beginning of the series. I enjoyed the writing style and found the characters likable and relatable, including the secondary characters. I like a story where you feel like you are a part of the investigation and this was one where I found myself really wanting to figure things in the case out, but still being taken a bit off guard in the end. I’d recommend this story and the author based off what I’ve read here.
Beachcomber Test is the 7th book in the Beachcomber Investigations series by Stephanie Queen. It can be read as a standalone, but i think to get the full effect of the characters and the series as a whole, the series should be read in order.
It follows the story of Shana George, an ex Scotland Yard detective who moved to Martha's Vineyard and partners up with Dane Blaise who is ex special ops to start a private investigators company. Not only partners in business though, but no one seems to know that they are romantically involved.
After nearly losing Shana at Christmas time, Dane will do almost anything to keep her with him, even staking his life on passing her tests. One of which is taking on a divorce case - something he swore he would never do. This simple case turns into a murder investigation when the cheating husband is found dead.
Can they work together and find the person responsible? Will this case be good for them or will it tear them apart? Will they find a happy ever after?
I loved this story. This author's writing style is so easy to read. The background characters help make this story even more interesting than if it were just Shana and Dane. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Beachcomber Test is the 7th book in the Beachcomber Investigations series by Stephanie Queen.
Dane loves Shana, but when you’ve closed yourself off as he has for so long, it is difficult to let anyone in. They’ve been through a lot together both personally and professionally, but Shana is putting their relationship to the test. She wants to know that Dane is willing to give her everything she needs.
While they are sorting out their personal life, Shana takes a divorce case, which Dane swore he would never do. Dane goes along with it because he figures it will be simple and over soon. Unfortunately for him, the case takes an unexpected turn. Now Dane and Shana are scrambling to get ahead of the trouble and it is proving to be more challenging than they would like.
This book can be read as a standalone but, in my opinion, you have a deeper connection to the characters if you read the other books in the series. Beachcomber Test is not as strong as some of the other stories in the series, but it is entertaining and enjoyable.
Beachcomber Test: Beachcomber Investigations is book 7 in A Romantic Detective series by Stephanie Queen and it is just as good as the others and I can’t get enough of them. I love reading about these wonderful characters that Stephanie has created and the world she has created for them. You should read all books in order so that you get the back and continuing stories of the crazy goings on and positions they always find themselves in. There is suspense and mystery, laughter and love, bad guys and good guys.
Our lovable characters, Dane and Shana and their motley crue, find themselves once again involved in more than they thought possible, when they took on a seemingly easy, open and shut case. But as we have come to know and love them, we know that nothing is ever as it seems and nothing is ever that easy.
Do yourselves a favour and get a copy of this series and sit back and enjoy the ride with a cuppa or a glass of your fav drink. I guarantee you will love this series as much as I do.
An excellent read about doing everything for someone you love. Dane works as a police officer with his lover Shana. One day, they take on a divorce case together where a man is suspected of having an affair. However, things are more than they seem and mysteries are uncovered. As a mysterious officer named Del comes to usurp their investigation, can Dane and Shana put aside their competitiveness for each others happiness? An excellent read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters particularly in the case of Shana. I was unsure of Dane at first but after a few chapters he grew on me with his passion and motivations to be with Shana. A good supporting set of characters with the Cap adding a sense of humour to the story. A great depiction of detective crime and its processes. The only issue I would raise is that I felt there could be more description of the morgue or even the police station and also perhaps a bit more dialogue especially in the first few chapters. Overall, an excellent read and I would give it four stars.
Beachcomber Test Beachcomber Investigations Book 7 written by Stephanie Queen 4 stars
“...she loved this never-ending game of seduction he played with her. He made a great tomcat, but she was no mouse. She was the ultimate feline and she would plot her turn to pounce back. Later.”
Very rarely do I start a series out of order (I most likely didn't realize it was a series if I've done this). This is the first book I stumbled across by Stephanie Queen and about a third in I was aggravated with myself that I hadn't started with book one. Although it can be a read as a standalone...WHY would you stop with just one book in this series? I love the banter between the main characters, the cat and mouse relationship, humor, challenge and even sensitivity. This book has a little romance, jealousy, mystery, suspense and keeps you guessing about their latest investigation until the last page.
“He was either doomed to hell or blessed to heaven. Even a Magic Eight Ball would have no clue.”
I truly love the Beachcomber series. What a great page turner!!! Ms. Queen is a WOW writer and story teller. Her plot is fabulous, her characters are well developed and totally relatable, and her descriptions are intricate and well thought out. She really makes you feel as if you are right there in the action along with the characters. Ms. Queen has written a plot full of twists, turns and intrigue. It is really an attention grabber. I had a hard time putting this one down. Her characters are as gritty as they come. You can full well imagine Shana as an ex-Scotland Yard Police. Dane is the epitome of ex-special OPs. Together they light fireworks. Hot, hot, hot!!! Ms. Queen’s description of Martha’s Vineyard makes me want desperately to go visit there for a year or two. All in all, this was a great read which will definitely be recommended to family and friends.
Murder, drugs, guns, shady cops, denial. All the makings of a really good story. Stephanie Queen is new to me and somehow I’ve ended up with book 7 as my first taste of her. The story behind the two main characters of Dane and Shana go way back. Their relationship as partners and lovers goes deep and is put to the test many times over. Even with not having read books 1-6, I could still follow this story line. I could easily tell these two have been through some rough times.
I enjoyed reading this book. The murder case was kind of open and close with no real mystery. The mystery was really how these two were going to end up. Their relationship was hot and cold it seemed, but maybe that’s because I didn’t have a history with them yet. I’m definitely going to go back and start from the beginning. Queen’s writing style is smooth and easy to follow. I can easily recommend this book.
Amazon put this one up as a recommendation from previous books I've read. Stupid me didn't see that it's the 7th book in the series... But I decided to read it since I already had it. What an amazing surprise this was..... action and romance thrown into a blender? What you get is a Beachcomber Test smoothie worth reading. Only thing that disappointed me was that it was a bit short and ended to soon. Lucky for me there's 6 more I can read.
I would definitely recommend that you read the in order as some of the storyline didn't always make sense.
I highly recommend this series even if I only read book 7. Stephanie writes an amazing storyline and great cast of characters that kept me turning the pages to finish it in one sitting.
I'll start by saying this isn't something I would usually read but the blurb really did capture me and I'm only sorry that I hadn't read all the other books beforehand.
It's intense, full of action and romance and a hell of a whirlwind. Shana and Dane are so lovable and enjoyable to read. You will not want to put this down. Will their relationship make it? Will there be a HEA?
Stephanie has created a remarkable world of great characters and a page turning storyline and it's highly recommended.
Loved this book! Another winner in the Beachcomber Investigations series! It's a rare find to find a series where each subsequent book is better than the prior book in the series, but this series does that. I loved the characters and the way their relationship has evolved and changed over the books and absolutely loved the ending.
This is a stand alone novel, however it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. I'm already looking forward to the next book in the series. The author is on my must read authors' list, and, if you're a fan of the genre, should probably be on yours as well.
Beachcomber Test by Stephanie Queen may be book 7 in the Beachcomber Investigation series, but it is the first I’ve read in the series and by this author. I was able to read it as a stand alone.
This story was packed with suspense and mystery, trying to solve a case! It was very interesting, and I found myself trying to figure things out and still being surprised in the end. I liked that Shana is just as strong and capable as Dane, they are equals and respect each other. I feel like if the other books in this series have this same sort of investigation/suspenseful feeling, I would like them a lot, too.
I really enjoyed this book it had a few flaws but the good greatly out weighs the flaws though. It is an awesome story full of intrigue, suspense, a little drama which is always good, some tension and some good old fashion romance. This story could be read as a standalone which is nice but it would be beneficial to read them all because I think one would get a better feel and understanding of the characters that you don't feel with just reading this stand alone. I enjoyed the writing from the plot to the romance to the detective aspect of it too. Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend this author and the book.
I really enjoyed this novel i loved how it drew you in and you were finding yourself trying to figure out the case but still being shocked when you uncovered the truth! The story is full of mystery and suspense which made it even more of a page turner and a journey that you truly enjoy being on. This can be read as a standalone but i highly recommend reading the previous books to the series. Its not a long read but it still packed a punch it has everything you are looking for in this sort of novel action, drama , romance and awesome characters! Happy reading.
This books was pretty good to read and see what Dane had been up to. The description kept the pages turning for the most part. Other times I was finding myself lost in my own world of what ifs where it was slow. The danger drew in attention but was only a temporary distraction to the love that was coming through. The characters show the love that comes through all test that Shana puts Dane through. It’s a good book to go with the series. There were just a lot of spots that were slow.
I loved this book, and the ending was great. I never expected it. Stephanie Queen is one of the best writers around. Her Beachcomber series is excellent. The characters are very well written. I would highly recommend this series. I own all of her books!!
Not a read if you haven't read anything else in the series. The central attraction of this read for me is because of familiarity with the series. An interesting take on the mystery, as the who committed the crime was solved very early...the fun came in finding enough hard proof for it.
Beachcomber Test: Beachcomber Investigations Book 7 – a Romantic Detective Series is part of her series Beachcomber Investigations. This series can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest reading all of them from the beginning to get the full effect of this series. This story has a little bit of everything in it from action to suspense and even some romance. One of the things I love about this author is her ability to pull me in right from the beginning. Her characters are engaging, lovable and connectable. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of different emotions. They will take you on a few twists and turns that will leave you wanting more. This is the story of Dane and Shana. In Dane's determination to keep Shana next to him he does the one thing he said he wouldn't. He takes on a divorce case. They have never done this before since investigating together. Shana never thought she would leave her life for investigating cases in Martha Vineyard but here she is. She has never expected much from men romantically but will she expect more from Dane? There is no doubt that he makes her crazy but he has her hoping for a future. Will she finally leave this time? Will she find herself losing hope? Together this case will put their relationship to the test but question is will they be able to survive it? These two together have such chemistry that I found myself hoping that they would find their happily ever after. Their story really flows easily and you won't be able to put it down. The danger and suspense will have you turning pages and getting lost in their world of investigations. The secondary characters help make this story interesting and free flowing. I can't see the story being the same without them. You will need to read this story to find out what happens to Dane and Shana in this installment of the series. What will fate have in store for them? Will they find their HEA? Will Shana stay or will she really leave this time? I highly recommend this story because you will want to see if Dane and Shana get their HEA or are things just doomed for them.
Beachcomber Test is the seventh book in the Beachcomber Investigations series by Stephanie Queen. It is a fantastic story full of intrigue, suspense, a little drama, some tension and of course, romance. This story could be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading all the other books to get a better understanding of these characters, their backstories and everything they’ve been through to get them to this point. The other books are really great and will enhance your reading experience of this story. You may think that by being the seventh book in a series, that maybe the series/stories may be becoming a little lackluster or losing some of their intensity- but that is not the case here at all. Ms. Queen brings her A game yet again and gives us a bit of a different look at Dane and Shana, and the investigation they’re pulled into. These two find their personal relationship tested, with things that have come to a head in this book, they love each other but Shana isn’t sure that Dane can really give all of himself. She is testing him, and he’s determined to prove himself to her. On a professional level, they have taken on a divorce case that should be a simple open and shut investigation, but as we have come to expect from Ms. Queen and these characters, nothing is ever that simple. They quickly find themselves in a situation they weren’t expecting and are clamoring to get ahead of it all. Another first-rate story from Ms. Queen. I never tire of her stories, she manages to pull me in each and every time with her addictive plots and descriptive style. Her attention to detail makes her stories come to life in a very realistic and believable way. Her characters are complex, a little quirky and entirely endearing. Ms. Queen always delivers, and this book is no exception! Bring on the next book!
Shana put Dane through some tests to make sure he was the right man for her. She started by taking a cheating spouse case knowing Dane didn’t want that type of case. But he agreed to it anyway. He would do anything for her. Their cheating spouse case became very dangerous when they found the spouse dead.
Dane and Shana had their work cut out for them. Especially Dane since he had to pass Shana’s tests while investigating the murder. I loved the way this pair worked so well together. They were able to put their personal relationship aside and focus on the case. Other than both often thinking they would like to be having have sex with the other.
I liked the characters, especially Shana and Dane. They both had exceptional training before starting their investigation business. Shana had been a Scotland Yard detective and Dane was ex-special ops. Their police friend, Cap, was a big help in the investigation, as always. It was cute how Gable wanted to help with the investigation. I liked him and how Dane tried to make him feel important by giving him jobs to do. While this was a really good mystery, it was emotional, too. There was humour, sadness and tension. I felt bad for Penny. She was the wife of the cheater/murdered man. She learned a lot of things she didn’t want to know.
It was odd seeing Dane so unsure of himself in this book. He was worried that he wouldn’t pass Shana’s tests. He didn’t want to lose her. This caused her to always on his mind and thinking about how hot Shana was and how he wanted to have sex with her. It got tiresome hearing this.
I loved this book and highly recommend it. If you like mysteries with a little romance, you’ll like Beachcomber Test.
Beachcomber Test: Beachcomber Investigations Book 7 by Stephanie Queen 4 Stars
This is book seven of the Beachcomber Investigations book series. In some of the reviews I read, it said you could read it as a standalone. While I found that I could follow the mystery aspect of the story perfectly, the characters were hard to get to know. I think it would be better to start reading this series from the beginning. Shana George and Dane Blaise started the private investigator company and know each other really well. Parts of their relationship I picked up on quickly. They know each other very well. From a look that Shana gives Dane, he can pick up on what she is communicating immediately. Certain things that they say to each other or certain actions and body language, the other can immediately pick up on and know what they are saying. They have a great dynamic in and out of the bedroom. The case they work on together in this book was very thrilling. Their new client was referred to Beachcomber Investigations by a couple who was a former client and huge fans of the dynamic duo. They normally don't take divorce cases, but Shana liked Lenny and wanted to do a favor for her. This case ended up being nothing like what they expected. This was a good book, but I would suggest starting at the beginning of the series. This is my first book by Stephanie Queen and I would like to go back and read this series from book one. It will be interesting to see how Dane and Shana's relationship developed over time, and also how Beachcomber Investigations started.
Beachcomber Test : Book 7 is the seventh instalment of the beachcomber series following the ups and down of Dane and Shana, will this be the greatest test of their relationship so far.
This story follows on from the previous stories regarding these two great characters, I have read all the stories in this collection so far and they do not disappoint especially this one.
The story involves a case with a divorce, something Dane said he would never investigate but he swallow his pride and takes it for Shana, will he regret this decision. Shana is struggling with trusting the relationship she has with Dane but will taking on this case cause friction between the couple.
As they investigate the case questions pop up within the case that have them both taking a hard look at themselves and will the relationship involve into something more. We see the insecurities between the characters and I love them both for their quirkiness and sheer stubbornness.
I enjoy the writing style of Stephanie, the story takes twists and turns and has you gripped to the story from the first page to the last. Her stories are fully of great secondary characters and wish to read more regarding these two in the future.
I give Beachcomber Test: Beachcomber Investigations Book 7 - a Romantic Detective Series by Stephanie Queen, 4 stars.
This is yet another hit in this wonderful series! Dane and Shana are back -- with their rocky relationship and more cases. Shana chooses a case that Dane previously refused to ever get involved in -- a divorce case. But things never seem to be simple for these two detectives. What starts out as a simple "follow the spouse" case turns into something much more involved and deadly. Then throw in these two detectives who love each other, but are still trying to come to grips with it. This makes for a suspenseful romantic detective series you will love to read!
The story is well written and those familiar with the series will see the faces people they have loved appear yet again. You quickly become involved in the case, and not wan to put it down until you have solved the case. I highly recommend this book and series to those who like a good detective story, and those who like some romance along with their suspense.
Beachcomber Test is the seventh book in the Beachcomber Investigation series by Stephanie Queen and boy have I been missing out on this one! This book was such a page turner, gripping me with it s mix of suspense and romance all thrown into one that I couldn’t put it down for anything. Mayhem and mischief all collide in Beachcomber Test, and it all starts with what should have been an easy divorce case for the investigators. I wish I would have seen that this was the 7th book in a series, so that I could have read the other books first but overall I felt like I was able to grasp most of the backstory between Dane and Shana. Prior to this book I hadn’t read anything by Queen but since this book I have picked up her entire series and am working my way through the backstory leading to this great book. While this book could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading it in order, so that the story really comes alive better. I can’t wait to see what Queen comes out with next.
This is the 7th book in the Beachcomber Investigations series and while I normally can't stand starting a series anywhere but the beginning, this book can be read as a standalone and I didn't really think there was much I didn't understand that was in reference to other books. Enough context was given that anyone who starts here won't feel out of the loop. The characters in this story, Dane and Shana, are well fleshed out and extremely relatable. I love how Shana is depicted as an equal to Shane and not merely a female sidekick who is a danger prone Daphne or there just for romantic tension. I loved the twists and turns and I will absolutely be reading the rest of this series. I'm positive I'll like this even more once I have all the details. Stephanie Queen will soon be dominating my book shelves if all her book are as entertaining and leave me unable to put them down or do anything else until I know what happens next.
Beachcomber Test by Stephanie Queen is book seven of a romantic detective series called Beachcomber Investigations. This series can be read as a stand-alone. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but I wasn’t disappointed. I was pulled in from the beginning and couldn’t put the book down.
This book has something for everyone. There’s romance but there’s also mystery and suspense which makes the book enjoyable because obviously you don’t want to be able to guess the whole storyline. This book had characters that you could connect to which also made the book engaging.
Dane and Shana find their relationship tested. Shana was never one to expect things from relationships but she’s finding herself expecting things of Dane but she’s unsure he can give her his all. Shana tests Dane. Will Dane prove to Shana that he has what it takes?
I really enjoyed reading this book so much I might go back and read the first six!
Beachcomber Test by Stephanie Queen is the 7th and final book in the Beachcomber Investigations series. It is the first I have read in the series, and I did not have a problem without reading the others. There is probably backstory that would have filled me in on more, but it is a solid enough story to be read alone. Dane and Shana are private investigators, hired to look into a cheating husband. It is not a case Dane would normally take, but Shana agreed, and he will do anything for her. I enjoyed this book, and it was a solid 4 star story. The characters are strong, and their interactions with each of the supporting characters are good. I like that it is a romance book, but it isn't over powering. The story itself is a good one, a detective mystery, with a little suspense. I want to go back and read the other books, and follow the story of how Dane and Shana came to be. It sounds like their relationship has been a long time in the making.
Beachcomber Test is the seventh book in the Beachcomber Investigations, A Romantic Detective Series by Stephanie Queen. This is the first book I have read in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I plan on going back and reading the series. Beachcomber Test had romance, drama, action and mystery, the perfect mix.
Dane and Shana are involved in a case that leads to more than they bargained for. It seems nothing will come easy for these two. Their relationship is going to be put to the test. Will it be able to survive?
Stephanie Queen had me hooked with her characters. Her descriptions are very vivid and will make you feel like you are there. She keeps the reader involved and turning the page To See what will happen next. You will not be disappointed. I am looking forward to reading more from Stephanie Queen.
