Reader Reviews***** I laughed & I cried. I fell in love with the characters. This was so much more than a YA fantasy.***** The author did an excellent job of storytelling and character development!***** Best series I've read in a long time!***** Super fun books to read. LOVED IT!!***** After I finished each book, I was immediately tempted to begin reading the next one, resulting in a series of really late nights!Fans of Jim Butcher, Stephanie Meyer, Harry Potter, and the Vampire Diaries are loving these books! If you are a fan of fast-paced young adult paranormal thrillers, then this urban fantasy series is sure to please.
Cheree Alsop is an award-winning, best-selling author and the mother of a beautiful, talented daughter and amazing twin sons who fill every day with joy and laughter. She is married to her best friend, Michael, the light of her life and her soulmate who shares her dreams and inspires her by reading the first drafts of each book. Cheree is a fulltime author and mother, which is much more fun than work! She enjoys reading, riding her motorcycle on warm nights, and playing with her twins while planning her next book. She is also a bass player for their rock band, Alien Landslide.
Cheree and Michael live in Utah where they rock out, enjoy the outdoors, plan great adventures, and never stop dreaming.
Second in the series. Top heavy with unadroitly delivered exposition at the outset that basically covers the entire previous book. The werewolf hero's team of Haunted High students, supported by a few cool professors, must take on the threat of demons that have not only absconded with one student but have begun impersonating others. Ghosts step in to help and the protagonist gets to reconnect with his dead mother, while Zanie, his ghost friend from the first book, provides an important bit of aid.
Same grammar problems as in previous book. For example, this one irritates the hell out of me in published works, using "I" when "me" is called for in the objective case.
In this addictive supernatural teen series, book two makes some progress in fighting the demons, the werewolf and vampire become friendlier, and Finn kisses a girl for the first time. Lots of ghosts play a role in the story. At the end, the team has to go on a quest. Typos: incorrect end quote punctuation, me/I mix up, horde used for hoard, "somewhere else's pants" should be someone, "heads up" is a plural and does not have an apostrophe, wrong verb tense ("watched me pulled the stick out"), extra word ("the Mercer"), peaked used for peeked.
Paranormal high school just doesn't have the same ring to it without being haunted!
I really enjoyed this story, both because it keeps the urgency going and because we finally get wider glimpses of the paranormal world, instead of just the narrow bits and pieces that Finn tried to describe from his human-centric perspective when he got to Haunted High. We also get to learn more about the demonic threat to Haunted High, which was rather nebulous in book one. This book starts off with a ghost in the infirmary where Finn is resting, and then his group of friends pretty much has to take off running straight through to the end. The ghosts that become commonplace at Haunted High are just symptoms of the problem, but at least they're useful when they drop clues or riddles. I thought it was brilliant how the ghosts are both how the group progresses and yet a hindrance at the same time.
Like book one, this is definitely a series, and there's little to no introduction to the characters that we met in book one. There's also a big cliffhanger readying us for the next book. We have had more setting depth throughout this book, now that Finn is sort of used to Haunted High, with the addition of parents (and the related otherworldly activities of adult paranormals) and more information on demons, his mother, and enough history that we (including Finn) can understand.
I received a free beta reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible Membership)
The Haunted High is infected with demons, intent on infecting the student's, then their outer communities. Only our lone werewolf and his rabal of friends and vampire enemies can hope to save their school. I don't know how much learning is done, but there's a whole lot of hands-on experience happening.
Demons, Demons everywhere! Finn wants to fight back. He feel a responsibility to the school and his friends but feels helpless. Prof Briggs has an idea to allow him and his 'team' to help but there are dangers. Another great story from Ms. Alsop. I think I've read almost all of her books and the way she writes is so colorful and real that you feel you know these people and are spying on their lives. Loved it!
So much excitement packed into this book I had a hard time taking a break and coming up for air. I really enjoyed reading another adventure of our group of monster misfits! Things take another turn for the dangerous and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This is the second book in the Haunted High series and they should definitely be read in the order written. It has great characters, realistic world-description, amazing creativity and the storyline is awesome. I love it and am now going to get book 3! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I like the concept and the basic story, and it's fine for a quick read. I think teens will like it. I'm not sure if I'll read more of the series or not.
