Surrender can mean many things to many people, even animals. In this fictional story, a religious fairy-tale satire about a Sasquatch named PoBo, we learn what it can mean on many different levels.
On one level, he is displaced from his family at a young age amid a war initiated by humans. But with an unyielding spirit to be reunited with his kin—and with music being his best motivator, at least at first—the hairy bachelor decides to set off on a dangerous quest to find them. He knows the journey will be fraught with danger because he knows he and his family are on the endangered list—a constant struggle to survive. But like an adage he once read in a book, “nothing ventured, nothing gained,” he is steadfast to not give up on his goal.
Fortunately, and unexpectedly, he gets some assistance from two animals, one of whom is far bigger in his faith than his physical size. PoBo encounters many obstacles along the way, and his own faith is tested repeatedly as time runs out to fulfill his quest. What he at first thinks is the true meaning of his journey becomes redefined as a desperate yearning to achieve three things: faith, family, and love.
When we’re broken and we realize we are not in complete control, it’s time to surrender.
I am proud to admit that I’m a constant reader and writer because books don’t have redundant commercials. I was born on Independence Day, live in Ohio, and graduated from Kent State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. I am happily married to my best literary critic, Melannie. We have two sons, Michael and Alexander (“Alex”), both of whom continue to keep us active and young at heart.

Are you looking forward to a young adult book with unique characters who can both inspire and motivate? Are you into Sasquatch? Then look no further. Chris Baum’s book, “Surrender Book 2” takes you on an adventure with Pobo, a Sasquatch with a heart. Join him on an interesting fairy tale like adventure that questions the essence of faith through a narrated journey. Without giving away spoilers, the characters you meet may be fantasy, but the truth they tell through their actions and narrative is true genius.
I am in awe. I have to admit I was reluctant to start the book because of the genre ... I am so glad I didn't let that stop me. It is a wonderful story and a powerful message. I guess I need to read something beside mysteries and supernatural books. I would have missed the excellent story if it hadn't turned out the author is a relative. Thank you Chris ... I have been feeling down lately and this really lifted my spirit. PoBo had become my hero. For everyone, just because it says fantasy don't let that keep you from reading this wonderful story. I would encourage everyone to buy it and read it because you will love it just as I did.
( Format : Audiobook ) "FUYA - Fire Under Your A** ." Not so much science fiction as fantasy, or fairy tale/ fable. PoBo, a Sasquatch orphaned young by humans, sets off after years of surviving as a lumberjack, to see if any of his relatives still survived (his being an endangered species). On his journey he is joined by Jake, an initially timid rat, and Petey, the pot smoking parrot. Together they talk, joke, tell stories and give each other the support each needs to carry on. The tale is overflowing with Christian messages of faith and prayer, intermingled with far too much excrement and bodily function humour to be appealing to most adults, though presumably it would very much appeal to younger children. The basic idea is a good one, the main characters charming in an innocently revolting sort of way, and the narration by Andy McCain is well performed, infused with gentle emotion, each being individually voiced in tones in keeping with who they are, summoning up mental picture of the trio.
My thanks to the rights holder of Surrender, who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy via Audiobook Boom. This is described as the second in an inspirational series, the inspiration in this case coming from the growing faith in the Bible, but for my preference it was far too heavy handed and this, combined with the, to me, unfunny but rather.repulsive bodily function potty humour, meant that I found the otherwise delightful - and inspirational - tale rather difficult to enjoy. A great pity. It would be very good to have a modern take on a Canterbury Tale story in this sort of fantasy mode - but please, a little less detail on bodily exceretion. Little children will adore it! And the cover is lovely.
I really enjoyed this tale about Pobo, the sasquatch and his two friends, Jake (a rat) and Petey (a parrot). Pobo leaves his village and finds them along the way. They encounter a series of adventures in between telling each other various stories, particularly about their experiences with humans. Their banter is hilarious at times and poetic at times. This is a fun read that doesn't take long to finish since it flows quite well. If you like an adventure story, you will love this one!
This is the first book I ever got published. It's a Halloween story about Bigfoot (aka Sasquatch) named PoBo who embarks on a dangerous journey to find his long-lost kin (endangered, of course!).
It's book 2 of what I like to call my Inspirational Sci-Fi Series, but it can also be read as a stand-alone novel.
If you like adventure, spirituality, and humor, then delve into this one and enjoy the journey!
A change of pace with characters you like and allow your mind to join in the journey
I enjoyed this book because it was so different from what I normally read. Escape from today and journey with characters which are easy to like. Many messages in this tale that relate to everyday life. Recommended.
I enjoyed this book. The combination of a sasquatch, a rat and a macaw traveling together is sometimes hilarious, heartwarming, and dangerous with faith, love and family intertwined. Although they are animals you still find yourself cheering them on towards what each is looking for. It tells how love, working together, praying and believing is what it's all about. I recommend this book for a good read.
C.Baum has whipped up an imaginative tale with PoBo and the characters he meets along the way. Filled with strength, morals, and a good tale for young adults. I love his style at weaving paravles throughout. Kudos, excellent job.
