How2divorce: The Handbook

Rate this book
The Handbook and the corresponding website have come about as a response to the dramatic changes affecting legal services in the UK. The cost of divorce is escalating and unaffordable to the average working person. This is turning an already difficult and emotional situation into a desperate one for many families. A new approach in relation to the delivery and access of legal services is therefore needed.Debra Stevens is a Solicitor with over 15 years of experience, and an expert in the field of family law and family mediation. She also conducts academic research into legal services and dispute resolution. On a practitioner level she has achieved the highest level of accreditation in both Family Law and Family Mediation and has worked to help thousands of couples through separation and divorce.Debra has developed the How2divorce concept over the last 5 years through her legal and mediation practice. By drawing upon her diverse personal and professional experience within the legal profession and mediation she has developed a holistic approach to separation and divorce which has led to the design of the How2divorce 3-Step Plan. The 3-Step Plan is structured as a journey from the day a couple separates to the day they go their individual ways and all issues between them are finalised. It provides a structure to work within and enables the individual to put together a strategy tailored to their own particular circumstances which provides an outcome that benefits everyone in the family in the long term. The How2divorce 3-Step Plan is education-based and none of the content of the handbook or corresponding website constitutes legal advice.
