I Messed up Christmas A Ghost & Abby Mystery Novella ~magical mayhem for the holidays~
Single mom, Abby Jenkins, the night janitor in a haunted teahouse in the Pacific Northwest town of Sunset Cove, runs a detective business on the side, and, while tackling the usual supernatural suspects is easy for her, she can’t face Christmas. She wants this one to be perfect for her kids. With a yuletide to-do list longer than Main Street, a jealous Viking boyfriend with existential issues, and unreliable witch powers, she’s in a twisted-tinsel, holiday funk, when the mayor asks her to find a missing angel. The statue, which sat on top of the Christmas tree in the town square for three decades, symbolizes all that’s good about the holidays: love, peace and joy. Abby drops everything to look for the stolen angel. Will she find Christmas along the way?

I’ve only recently discovered this authors work and have to say I’m finding it inventive, fun and unpredictable. I just love Abby as she’s such a normal mum running around doing whatever it takes to look after her family. Ok so her life isn’t exactly run of the mill as Abby lives in a small coastal town that seems to be a magnet for the supernatural. Add in the fact that she’s running a detective business from a haunted house , not to mention dating a ghost and you begin to realise that Abby is anything but ordinary. This story is set at what to many is the most exciting time of the year and that’s Christmas. Where the author excels is that she doesn’t make it perfect and actually shows Abby struggling with the everyday problems that mums everywhere experience. Christmas preparations are a trial, it’s never like the television commercials and yes perhaps sometimes outside might look like a quintessential Christmas card but look around at the decorations and you will see as Abby does that sometimes it’s the old familiar things that bring that warm glow. So where does all this lead ? Well Abby isn’t the only one who values old and dear Christmas decorations and it just so happens that the Mayor seeks her help when the angel that usually adorns the town Christmas tree gets stolen. Even worse there’s a ransom but just where does Abby start to look ? Does the town have someone with a grievance or is it more sinister and supernatural than that ? This story pulled me in immediately and I’m really enjoying seeing the trials and tribulations that seem to plague Abby’s life. There are changes happening here and Abby’s love life is suddenly getting very complicated but unfortunately I did feel the ending felt a tad rushed but nevertheless I really did enjoy sinking back into this world and look forward to much more.
I messed up Christmas (A Ghost & Abby Mystery Book 2) This is a perfect Christmas bon-bon - you know the kind you munch (for an energy) as you try to do six things at once, preparing for Christmas. I enjoyed it immensely. Single mom, Abby, a part-time private eye has to find a missing Christmas angel for the mayor of Sunset Cove. At the same time she is determined to put on the perfect Christmas for her three small children. Her gorgeous Viking ghost boyfriend, Eric, would be more sympathetic if Dante, the male-witch mentor for Abby’s newly acquired witchly powers, wasn’t doing his best to seduce her. The surprise ending has me waiting with baited breath for the next novella in this series.
Abby is a witch and a private detective, who happens to work out of a haunted tea house. While wanting to have a great Christmas for her children, the mayor comes to her to ask her to find the town’s missing angel. In the course of hunting for the missing angel she finds more of her power and some new friends. Good read and I cannot wait to follow Abby into her next adventure.
A cute, funny, fast novella easily read in an hour. I assume she is a witch working on her witching prowess, since I didn't read the 1st installment, but def a widow. There are funny anecdotes throughout, along with the serious business of theft and troubles of a regular town. Abby is in love with a ghost, and has a warlock who also wants her, has to find a stolen angel, get ready for Christmas and is a mother to 3 small children. I see the play on mother's and wonder woman. Please note these are "installments" and I would class this ending as a cliffhanger.
Easily read in one sitting, this fast-paced novella is brimming with Ms. Carson’s trademark humor. Add in a missing angel, a lynx familiar, unreliable magical powers, and two gorgeous alpha supernaturals—Eric the Viking ghost and Dante the Italian male witch—and Abby’s complicated life becomes even more complicated. As for the ending...brace yourselves!
It’s official...I’m addicted to this series and can’t wait to read the next installment.
This continues the story from "Midnight Magic", which is a fun, amusing read.
In "I Messed Up Christmas", our burgeoning witch Abby is hired by the mayor to find a stolen town icon. We get a nice story that shows Abby trying to balance family needs, her case, and the development of her new powers.
I was impressed with Jo-Ann Carson's clever, witty writing when I read "Midnight Magic", and she displays the same skill here. Abby is a charming, funny, interesting character that will make you want more.
This is a delightful fun Christmas novella. Abby is a single mom with three kids, two jobs and learning how to use her new witchy powers. Add in a new lynx familiar and a new puppy and this story is hilarious. Oh by the way it is the Christmas season so also add in gift shopping, decorating and baking. What a ride!
Abby is a single mom just trying to pay the bills and raise her three children in Sunset Cove who also has learned that she has magical powers. There are two hunks that are vying for her attention, Eric the Viking ghost and Dante the Italian male witch. She chose the Viking, but Dante is trying real hard to sway her his way and causes issues with her relationship with Eric. Dante is also helping her to harness her new magical powers. The mayor has offered a job to help find the missing angel that was stolen from the town’s Christmas tree so she is on a quest to find the missing angel and runs into a few snags along the way. This is the first book I have read in the series and this is a short quick read. Looking forward to the continued adventures with Abby.
Cute and quick Holiday read. It was more of a "witch coming of age story" than a mystery this go around. What I really enjoyed about this one was, it was a true story of an overworked mom trying to give her children the perfect Christmas.
Not as good as the first book - a disappointing read
Sorry but not on a par to the first book. A missing angel, a missing ghost and Christmas fast approaching. The characters seemed slightly dimmed in this story and the plot was really exciting but just a series of comments. Disappointing.
I love Abby and her refusal to be defined! She's a hoot to tag along with in her small seaside community with the perfect mix of the familiar and the unfamiliar. I enjoyed every "Sunset Cove paranormal minute" of this story. And wow - what a surprise at the end!
She's a single mom dating a Viking ghost. Abby lives in a community with lots of paranormal activity and is a detective on the side. She really wants Christmas to be perfect for her children but she's struggling to get in the spirit of things. Some really good LOLs ~
I'm hooked on thee books. Abby and Eric have the worst communication skills ever. They are way too funny. Christmas was a nightmare that wound up working out, but not the way I expected. This author can definitely throw curve balls. LOVE IT!!
I wanted to book to be longer! But it was good for the length it was. The author really could just put all 3 in the series in one book and call it a day.
I love a bit of supernatural, detective and christmas and for it to be all mixed in together was certainly an interesting prospect! I wasn't quite sure how it would work especially the ghost boyfriend, but it didn't really seem to matter. I enjoyed reading about the characters and their relationships and the village setting was pure christmas for me.
