Yes, except that this one may be the defining factor that will turn your dream into reality. Many have succeeded at being an entrepreneur, but many, many more have failed. Which side would you rather be on?
Sure, entrepreneurship is often about breaking the rules. But there are also a number of them that you should follow if you want to survive long enough to see what happens when you do.
A business should be more than just a venture, it should be an adventure! The difference between a successful journey, rather than a wasted one, is knowing when to do what. That is what this book is about. Not science, but experience. The rules of hustle.
Based on Marnus Broodryk's business experiences, together with insights from friends and fellow entrepreneurs, 90 Rules for Entrepreneurs is your guide to avoiding the pitfalls, as well as seizing the opportunities, your handbook to being an entrepreneur, a millionaire and of course, happy.
It was a quick read but very practical and in a way things that could be easily implementable. It did not leave me with a passion to go out and start my own venture but that in all honesty was what I loved most about the book. It took away the frills and gave the facts. Should I ever take the leap, it is definitely a book that I will make reference to.
Eventhough I didnt expect a new insights and did expect a repetition of consept from other book in the similar genre, yet this book still offer many interesting pragmatic prespectives. I think thats because the author is the practitioner of all the concepts discussed. Another thing I like is when the author also collaborates with other self made millionaire to write about their experiences/ prespective. Great book to read to inspires for a pragmatic mind (like myself). 90 sounds alot for me, hence here picking my top 10 to be in always do list 1. Have a mindset for change - accept the fact that the future wont look like today and be ready with it 2. Over prepare to under succeed - 3. Constantly ask yourself if what you are doing today will help achieve your end goal tomorrow 4. Focus your time on where the money is and get the right experts to support you 5. Hard work is useless when it is spent doing the wrong things 6. Big isnt always better, great business scale up through systens operated by efficient people 7. 5 minutes of bust - often the hardest part of anything is the first 5 minutes 8. Start a journal - A life worth living is a life worth recording 9. The good guy always win 10. Success is really depends on YOU
Must read for SA entrepreneurs. I was looking for a book on entrepreneurship in SA, preferably not on a tech company and written by someone who built their business at least in the 21st century. The SA bigd***s won’t help - they all started companies in an era before computers.
This is it! Direct, quick, super helpful and “brood-nodig” to any young SA entrepreneur.
Small contradictions here and there and a lot of things one would already now. But some super important tips and confirmations.
Valuable lessons in this book for any entrepreneur or someone starting out in business. Achieving success in the business world is synonymous with blood, sweat & tears; it is hard work. That is what I like about Marnus’ book. It is realistic and paints an accurate picture of being an entrepreneur.
The only false note for me is the caption on the cover which imply that happiness is to be found in being a millionaire/having lots of money. That is simply not true.
Good book with valuable lessons from the author and guest chapter authors! The rules are good reminders of the essential things to remember when starting out and when scaling your business. The book is divided into different parts focusing on your self, business entrepreneurial stages, hustling, employees and other important aspects of business, with simple and easy to follow rules!
I really enjoyed the book. I read it when I was still studying and wanted to take the first step towards starting an entrepreneurial venture. I learned a lot from it, and it gave me the confidence to take that first step to starting a business. A little over a year later, I am in the process of launching my first business!
After a workshop with Brian Walsh and Ann Wilson, I kind open up myself to the entrepreneur world. This is the first ever book I read in the field. It's for me an introduction to the Hustler world. :-) Great book!!!
