Rooted and grounded in love for the Lord, Joshua was utterly faithful, wonderfully stable, and scrupulously obedient. The book of the Bible that bears his name is a magnificent anthology of events to challenge and inspire God's children in every age. This is a book for reading, rather than a commentary. Its aim is to bring out the spiritual message of Joshua for today, and also to explain some of the "problem" portions and passages which evoke questions on, for example, the morality of so much killing, and whether God was responsible for hardening the hearts of the Canaanites. In Joshua we find the holiness and mercy of God fully displayed, and numerous encouragements for the spiritual life.
Realmente he disfrutado leer este libro. Muchas enseñanzas pastorales aplicadas a la iglesia y nuestra vida son extraídas del libro de Josué. Temas polémicos, como la matanza de los habitantes de Canaan son tratados, junto con las enseñanzas que se desprenden de los mismos.
It should be noted that this is not a commentary as the focus is on dealing with the more difficult passages in Joshua. The text is dealt with concisely and is very well explained but actually goes further than this as I finished the book with a new understanding of Joshua (the man) and the way God used him. Recommended reading for anyone who will be reading through Joshua.
