As a child, Courtney always had aspirations of being a writer. She participated in journalism in school. At home, she wrote short stories, poetry and filled diary pages. Somewhere along the line becoming an adult took priority over her writing and she went to work in business operations.

Now as a mother to three beautiful children, she tells them all the time to follow their dreams, be whatever they want. Those lessons reminded her how much she loved writing. She finally opened the door to making writing a real priority in her life.

Living outside of Portland, Oregon she loves the green and beauty Oregon offers. When she’s not matching wits with her children, her crazy Siberian Husky or her bi-polar cats, she enjoys binge reading, hikes and touring wineries. Courtney and her husband, the love of her life, enjoy traveling the world whenever they can get a free moment. And cruises….she loves cruising. She’s especially fond of life, laughter and sarcasm – and she’s excited to share all of that and more with her readers!

4.5 I think the author found her groove in this book because it flowed better than the previous book and was easier to follow, making it a more enjoyable reading experience.

This picked up from where the siblings got left behind from Alex’s group, delving into scary moments where Candace had to trust in her brother to keep her safe with the situations they found themselves in.

A quick, short read which gave us more of an insight into these siblings dynamics. I loved how with little bits Alex had taught Easton along the way he retained and put into practice.

This novella is better than the book.

The book was OK but calling a spade a spade, with zombie books you can't just be OK. It's all been done before a dozen times and your book will be compared with As the World Dies by Rhiannon Frater and Until the End of the World by Sarah Lyons Fleming.

Ugh... men are foul.

Easton protecting his younger sister is everything! I'd do the same for mine.

This novella features 2 side characters in Prepared that I got attached to. We get to see details of their journey which was so satisfying because during the first book you felt so worried about them during the separation.

A quick, intriguing novella to fill in the gap of what the kids went through while they were separated from Alex and the others! Fast paced and engaging keeping me hooked from page one! Answered up all my questions! Loved it

A great little story

We all wonder what happened to the kids when they got separated. I loved it just as much as the rest it is hooked to and could technically be read after book 1 if wanted.
I hope to see more short stories about the rest of the characters possibly.
Thank you Courtney for such a wonderful series.

Great Novella

It is true to the rest of the series. Kids are great and like the series lots of terrifying plots. But you still have moments that you want to cry and laugh. Love this story line. Great author whom I look forward to reading a lot more from. Sad there isn't a new one yet.

A compelling story.

Alone is ideal to read between Prepared and Survive in the Sundown series. I wasn't sure if I should read it or not because it's not always clear where it fits into the main book but it flowed on perfectly. This is a great wee add-on to the series. The kids got on great and survived because of Alex and what she had taught them. Alone is a must-read.

A great companion to the Sundown series, filling in what happened to two characters from the first book. I liked the story better as a separate book, instead of interspersing two separate stories in the first book by alternating chapters.

Excellent reading.

This rating is because all the sundown series grabs you and can't put it down. Well written and needs to be read in order alone should have been read third. I suggest everyone give these a whirl you won't regret it.

Nice addition to the Sundown series. I like how they explained why the teens were missing for a week, without dragging it out into a separate book in the series.

Meh this was fine. Again, not a fan of third person. I know that will be my issue with the whole series. I’m happy this was attached to the end of book one on Audible.
