Shifter's University #2

Forest of Lost Souls

Rate this book

Less than normal...

More than human.

I finally found a place where I belonged. Shifter's University.

And I'd found more than that, with Logan. Now he is gone—exiled to the Forest of Lost Souls for a crime he didn't commit.

I won't stop until I've found a way to save him from his fate. Even if it costs me dearly.

Great read!

This was a great 2nd book to this series. I am so intrigued and cannot wait to see what the next book has in store. I learned a lot but there is still a lot left to learn! Hopefully the next book will give me all the secrets I need to know!

All I can say is WOW...this second book in the series swept me away. It starts exactly after book 1 no break...no slowdown. Logan is banished and Claire wants him out. To accomplish this she is willing to go against everything and everyone...but she finds allies in places she never knew.
Questions still unanswered about Blake.....
The Headmistress is questionable...
Logan is faced with the choice of facing the shadows...or embracing the dark.
The storyline is fast paced and very well written. The characters are evolving and more complex as we move forward in the series.
There are twists to make any Roller coaster help us and keeps you turning page after page.
I WANT BOOK 3 NOW!!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!!

Yes, part 2 is here!
The attention shifts from the university to the forest. The Dark Watch is even more present than before. There is a lot of action and magic. And another cliffhanger. Part 3, where are you? I want to keep reading!
I received a copy and chose to review it.

Ok, this is an easy review to write in 2 parts:

(1) you need to read book 1 to truly enjoy this book 2 (but don’t worry, book 1 was wonderful), and
(2) if you enjoyed book 1 (and, really, how could you not) then you’ll enjoy this book 2.

See? Easy-peasy.

What, you want more? Just know that Claire and Logan are back and are as delicious as ever. This book takes off directly from where book 1 ended, with Logan exiled to the exiled to the Forest of Lost Souls, in his dragon form and desperately trying to retain his humanity. Then along comes Victor and a way out - for a price to be revealed. Beware the Dark Watch Logan! Meanwhile Claire is trying to find a way to save him, and doesn’t find out when he gets out. Got all that? Thrills, mystery, adventure, secrets revealed, boy oh boy is this ever good stuff. Oh yeah, and with a superb cast of supporting characters (special note for Quinn the freaky friendly vampire hanging out in the basement ...).

Marvelous fun and highly recommended.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

You really need to read the first book in the series, Shifter's University, as this book picks up right were that one left off. Like the first book, this one also ends on a To Be Continued (not quite a cliffhanger, but darn close).

I ended up liking this book more than the first book, the story felt like it was moving faster. There is a lot of tension, secrets, and some new mysteries for the characters to explore. Although the blurb only references Claire, as with the first book this book switches POV between both Claire and Logan. There are many of the characters we came to know in the first book, but several new characters that I'm hoping will continue to play a role in the upcoming book in the series.

BOOK REVIEW : FOREST OF LOST SOULS (SHIFTER'S UNIVERSITY BOOK #2) : K.R. THOMPSON

JUST IMAGINE ... IF THE HARRY POTTER AND THE X-MEN UNIVERSES HAD A BABY,
K. R. THOMPSON'S SHIFTER'S UNIVERSITY WOULD BE BORN IN THE FORM OF A BOOK!

Dragon's, Yokai, Mermaids, Vampires, Gargoyles, Centaurs, Wyverns, Witches, Woodland Creatures, Werewolves, Water Serpents, Mice, Lions, Coyotes, Butterflies, Fae And So Much More. Throw In The Evil Dark Watch, What More Could You Possibly Ask For All Wrapped Up In The Pages Of One Amazing Book?

Imagine Teenagers Today With No Mobile Phones, No Tablets, No Laptops & No Computers!!!
You’ll notice a total lack of technology within the pages of Shifter's
University.
Cell phones, laptops, internet, anything that requires a signal, squashed by magical shields put in place to hide and protect. Imperium University has one landline to call in or out (Oh and there's Quirky Quinn & his Basement Buddies (cardboard cut outs) who has the Internet & a shopping addiction to go with it, but that strictly hands off, a no go zone, off limits & Unknown to students). Otherwise they're totally cut off from the world beyond! But what they do have is M A G I C and a two souled nature. One Animal. One Human and they Shift at Will!

Set in present day, in our own world, but shielded from prying human eyes, lies an Imaginative, original and unlike any other shifter book I've ever read before! And I must say I loved everything about this book, from first seeing the cover, reading the blurb and just knowing I had to read it, to the rules they live by, the mythology that comes into play, to the main and supporting characters, to the fast past action and adventure and the incredible humour & Witt, to the way the two main characters support & play off each other. I believe a great love story lies within continuing episodes for Claire & Logan.
This sure was one wild & crazy ride that kept me glued to my screen and flipping those pages just as fast as I could read! But that ending, OMG, Ms Thompson you certainly know how to keep a reader intrigued( I hate you, No, I Love you, Oh please just hurry 'coz I want, No I need, No scratch that, I'm dying to find out what happens next, as Book 2 is left on a cliffhanger, so if you're not into cliffhangers, this definitely isn't the book for you, but you'd seriously be missing out coz seriously I yelled "BLEEP" and wanted to pull my hair out! It had it had just become so intense & exciting and then BAM! The book finishes! Really this series has it all, shifters of all kinds, a magically hidden school, passion & intrigue with a love so real you'd do anything for the one you love including risking yourself to save them.
Incredibly written characters both main and secondary, written with real depth, they love, they hate, they're flawed and they fight for and against what they believe in and while some are good (Claire & Logan), some are down right evil and bat shit crazy, like Victor and Charlie.

Imperium University is a school for Shifter’s of various types with various abilities and surrounds main characters Logan, a Dragon Shifter and Claire, thought to be a Kitsune (Fox) but really a Yokai in hiding (a special type of shifter (old) feared by all human & Shifter's alike. Who can borrow magic from those around her causing a major build up of magic in herself & around her and then able to take any form or a combination of shifters around her).
The Shifters have had a long standing feud with a human terrorist group calling themselves The Dark Watch, who have been planning, raiding and attacking the school for many years.
It's true what they say "People are frightened by that which they don't understand or have no explanation for!

This is an amazing continuation of K.R. Thompson's 'Shifter's University Series'!
Especially as once again this finished on another cliffhanger and now I can't wait to get my hands on Book 3, to Continue on this Adventure of a Lifetime with This Fascinating Duel Natured Species Half Human, Half Beast!

Really Well Written, Imaginative, Creative, And Original, With Great Storylines, Main & Secondary Characters You Quickly Grow To Care About, And Some You Even
Love To Hate! 4.8⭐️ Out Of 5⭐️, And Well On its Way to Being 5⭐️ Series!

I've read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book, and post an honest & fair review.

With Logan and Victor being sent to the Forest of Lost Souls, Claire and Lacy will stop at nothing to save Logan from this place. But what if both of them have already been freed from the forest and at what cost will it have been? As Logan learns more about the Dark Watch and why they freed both him and Victor, Claire and Lacy continue to research on ways to break Logan out of the forest. I feel like there are so many secrets at Shifter's University I can't wait to keep reading this series to uncover them all. This book also has a bit of a cliff hanger regarding two characters we've already met. Can't wait to find out what it is!

Logan is stuck in the Forest and slowly losing his humanity and some dark spirit is trying to suck him dry. Claire is trying to find her way into the Forest to get Logan out. Along the way we meet a vampire, learn more of the history of Shifter University and have another run in with the Dark Watch. The story is developing nicely and the characters are coming into their own. The sneak peak at book three is promising.

I received an ARC of this story and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.

I received this book at no charge, and am voluntarily reviewing it.

Forest of Lost Souls is a quick, but enjoyable read. Ms. Thompson knows how to pack a lot into a small space. Forest of Lost Souls is a rare book, in that it contains teens and drama, but little to no angst. I dislike angst. It makes me want to headbutt a wall. Therefore, this book pleased me for that reason alone. I also like the story, the characters, and the flow of the dialog. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA fantasy involving shape shifters.

This one picks up where the first left off with Claire trying to find a way to get Logan out of the Forest of Lost Souls. We meet a new character that I am in love with, Quinn. Loved the parts with him in it. He needs a story and I won't even care if it is just a novella. Claire and Logan are not together much in Book 2. As with the first one I wish there were more to the book. Now to wait to the next one to see what happens. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Score: 4.2
Book 2 continues with these amazing characters springing into the storyline as quickly as they can. It engaged me enough to keep reading and enjoying the journey. Although there was resolution it still ending with a mild cliffhanger that gives you a possible goal for book three. Book two definitely did its job answering a few things book one hinted at.highly recommend these to be read back to back. This voluntary review is based against an advance copy.

This is the second story in the Shifter's University series. It's every bit as good as the first one with lots of action and intrigue. In Forest of Lost Souls, we're starting to get into some of the history and mystery behind the University which enlightens us while also bringing up more questions at the same time. Good read.

For those who want to know: This one has violence and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

The story is taking a whole new set of twists and turns. I’m on pins and needles wanting to know what will happen next. Lots of mystery and subterfuge with all sorts of magical creatures and beings everywhere. A school that is like no other. Claire and Logan have the work cut out for them trying to protect the school.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

Jumps right in from book 1

There’s no need to wonder if there is a time gap between books, you’re starting off right where the 1st left off. The whole time Claire is fighting to find a way back to Logan he is doing the same and in my head I’m screaming at Claire (if you only knew!!) lol

Yet another good book about shifters. I do wish these were longer in length but I cannot complain as the storyline more than makes up for it. Looking forward to book 3.

Well that's a funny rescue

Parts of this are funny. The poor dragon in distress needing rescue by the hiding Yokai, only that rescue is a bit convoluted. I wish Claire had read more journals between the two she did. It seems like something significant happened to change things.

Decent read. Short but decent

I would give in a 3.5. The plot is good. Some twists and turns along the way but I find it lacking details and shorter than I would have expected.
