Kinda Blue by Ann Grifalconi
Published April 1993 by Little Brown and Company
Picture book, multicultural realistic fiction
-A little girl feels sad and unimportant, but Uncle Dan is able to cheer her up. He takes her into their cornfield and relates the diversity within each ear of corn to how every human is special and unique.
-I choose this book because of the message and beautiful pastel, color pencil, and watercolor illustrations. This will inspire any student with low self-esteem and remind them how being different is a good thing.

Really nice story about feeling "kinda blue". Need to get this one through inter-library loan in our library system.
