Now that Tori finally understands who she is and what’s expected of her, she’s in full-on freak-out mode. How will she save the galaxy from General Arantu’s clutches when she can’t even control her powers?
Add that to the lack of retaliation by enemy alien forces, and everyone is on edge. Especially when they uncover evidence of a strange alien symbol with possible links to humans, and the mystery deepens.
But that’s not the only thing keeping Tori awake at night.
Confused over the horrific vision she experienced the night of the Herassan attack, Tori is terrified of revealing details of her protectors’ supposed fate, so she says nothing. Keeping stuff hidden never ends well, and as evil forces conspire against Tori and her four protectors, secrets and lies threaten to destroy everything they hope to achieve.
While Tori grows closer to Coop, Maddox, and Beck, Dane remains distant, creating more tension and jeopardizing their bond.
Then an unexpected newcomer arrives, casting suspicion over everything they believe they know.
When Tori finally figures out what’s going on, will she have time to warn the guys? Or is their fate already sealed?

Everyone is anxious and trust, which should be a pillar in their relationship, is strained with half-truths, secrets and the wrench a new arrival throws in. Can Tori unfold the mystery behind the strange things that are happening in time to warn her protectors?
Siobhan Davis has mastered the art of writing new adult, sci-fi romances filled with drama, angst and emotion that will hook you and keep you engaged from start to finish. I won’t go into detail about the plot because the reading experience is so much better when you read it firsthand.
Ok you forced it out of me, one tiny tidbit for Saven fans, stay on the lookout for familiar alien races. Davis is also skilled at creating interesting worlds and extraterrestrial societies, some of which have hunky, swoony protectors ready to give their lives and souls to their savior. I really enjoyed getting to know the guys a bit more and can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Secret Heir is book #2 of the Alinthia series by Siobhan Davis. It is a new adult, sci-fi reverse harem romance. Told from various points of view with a cliffhanger.
She is a teen, one awakened to her destiny and the truths of who she is and what the galaxy expects of her. Not only is Tori in unchartered territory, she has found four handsome young men who are each a part of her very soul, each owning a piece of her heart, each very different, each aliens raised to belong to her, with her.
Now Tori must deal with the visions she has, are they an inescapable future? Will she doom her protectors and all who are dear to her? When will she come into her full powers? Time is running out to stop evil from overpowering all who live and Tori could be the last hope or the greatest nightmare.
Her secrets are jeopardizing the bond between her protectors and herself. When trust is of the essence, it could be pushed to the breaking point…especially when a new entity is added to the mix.
Siobhan Davis’ THE SECRET HEIR hits the ground hard, and races off over jarring, hotbeds of emotional and physical coal. She has developed completely unique relationships between Tori, Maddox, Coop, Beck and Dane and each has an electric feel, like we are just one step from watching each progress, but just not sure the direction each will take. Romantic tension, physical attraction and the pressures of the unknown make the atmosphere thick enough to cut with a knife and Ms. Davis deftly leads us through like the word master she is.
Prepare to escape into a world fraught with mystery and tension, confusing emotions and mistrust. And that big twist we always come to expect from the queen of angst? It. Is. Huge! I kept hoping for just one more page or chapter or the next addition to this series to pop up! Sigh… I’m definitely in need of more!

Series: Alinthia - Book 2 Publication Date: March 31, 2018 Publisher: Siobhan Davis Genre: Reverse Harem | N/A Fantasy Print Length: 265 pages Available from: Amazon For Reviews, Giveaways, Fabulous Book News: http://tometender.blogspot.com
The Lost Savior, the first book in the Alinthia series, failed to wow me in the way I had hoped, and if the comments on my review are any indication I sent the wrong message when trying to explain why I wasn’t blown away by the story. I was unsure as to whether I would give the second book, The Secret Heir, a read, but in the end my curiosity won out. With a little bit of luck, I’ll do better explaining why I’ve yet to be blown away by this series.
In truth, my feelings towards The Secret Heir were extremely mixed. I’m a big Siobhan Davis fan, have enjoyed all her work (adored most of it), yet The Secret Heir is the first time where I was a bit disappointed by a story. The Secret Heir managed to pull an array of emotions from me, yet it wasn’t in the way Siobhan Davis books usually pull emotions from me.
When I started The Secret Heir, I was feeling quite happy with the story. In fact, I started this book believing it would be the four-star rating The Lost Savior failed to pull out of me. I was more into the events and the characters than I had been in the first book, and I believed this was because I finally had an understanding of them. At this point, I was plenty willing to dig deeper into the story.
As things progressed, my feelings started to change somewhat. I was overjoyed when the things I’d been hoping for more of in the first book appeared, yet I soon found myself disappointed when they were not taken to the extreme I had hoped they would be. You see, the main thing I wanted more of was the worldbuilding. I adored the Saven series, and I was hoping for a repeat of the wonderful worldbuilding we had seen in that series. When this one took us away from Earth, I was more than ready for the universe to open up to me. Unfortunately, the worldbuilding in this one quickly hit a dead-end. In many ways, rather than being shown the wonderful universe hovering in the distance we were told about it. We get lots of discussion without experiencing the universe. Even the nod to the Saven series (if you’ve yet to read it, you should, it’s one of my all-time favourite young adult science fiction series), wasn’t taken as far as it could have been. To me, with this one, everything seemed to sit just out of reach. Hence why I felt disappointed about the worldbuilding.
When we returned to Earth a part of me had hoped Siobhan Davis would start to throw in her usual twists and turns, that I would be shocked by the information being given. For around the second half of the book, however, I wasn’t blown away. In fact, there were points where my rating dropped to a two-star rating, something that has never happened with Siobhan Davis before. I find there is almost always one book from a favourite author that you do not enjoy in the way you usually enjoy their books, and for me that Siobhan Davis book is The Secret Heir.
You see, I found all the things that took place in the second half of the book far too predictable. Nothing shocked me, leaving me mentally rolling my eyes at the predictability. This is why I was disappointed with The Secret Heir. Siobhan Davis always throws in twists and turns, and whilst there have been some predictable ones in the past, nothing has ever been as obvious as the second half of this book. With how many things were thrown in, with how many new elements were introduced and past aspects were twisted, this one should have caught me off guard with at least one thing. It didn’t, and such a thing sadden me. The usual Siobhan Davis shock was missing with this one, and I found it difficult to enjoy the things being introduced when I’d worked them all out. Even the ending, the usual Siobhan Davis cliff-hanger, failed to grab me. Usually the endings leave me desperate for the next book, to see how things come together, but I’d worked it out and simply gave an ‘okay’ before picking up my next read – which was not book three, The Warrior Princess.
In many ways, I believe the Saven series has ruined me for future young adult science fiction series. The Saven series set the bar so high, and I cannot help but consider how much the Alinthia series pales in comparison. With The Lost Savior I thought it may have been a case of personal preference, but with The Secret Heir I think it is safe to say this series simply isn’t winning me over.
You see, I enjoyed the reverse harem element a lot more in this second book. Reverse harem is not my go-to when it comes to reading. I feel as though I gave the impression I hated it in my review of The Lost Savior, yet such is not the case. I’m simply extremely picky with my reverse harem, and due to this very rarely read it. When I pick up the right book or series, though, I’m more than happy to keep reading. My big issue, usually, is that authors do not give all the characters the attention they deserve. Multiple characters are introduced, and in no time at all we know which character is the author’s favourite. The others fade into the background until it comes to the steamy scenes, at which point everyone returns so the author can play out certain scenarios. It gets boring when such a thing plays out, and I’ve seen it happen far too often.
With The Secret Heir, however, I did come to appreciate all of the boys. I do believe there is a tiny bit of favouritism to be seen, but as a whole things are a lot more equal than in many of the other books I have read in the genre. Due to this, I believe Siobhan Davis may be one of the authors where I will willing read her other reverse harem releases. The thing that has me less willing to read such stories was done well here, and I’m willing to take the dive into other such stories by the author. This is why I opted for the three-star rating in the end, despite my mixed feelings towards the book.
I do wish to say, however, that I finally understand some of the reviews I have read on other Siobhan Davis books in the past. In the second half of the book, when I wasn’t as sucked in as I usually was, I understood the negative comments some people have made about the slut shaming that occurs in a few of the author’s books. When I’m sucked in deep, I find myself overlooking it – it is a part of the story that I understand and accept. However, when I wasn’t sucked in deep, it did seem a bit excessive. I now understand those reviews I have once raised an eyebrow to.
In part, I think a big reason why I noticed it so much in this one was because of the age of the characters. This series started as young adult but has quickly become new adult. With the way characters behave and certain elements that play out, I believe this series would have done much better being new adult from the start. Therefore, I’m labelling this under the ‘this is what Sarah J. Maas has done to young adult books’ category I have going on in my head. I’m not going to go into what side of the debate I fall on when it comes to Sarah J. Maas books, I’m simply pointing out young adult books seem to have become much more explicit and it seemed to start around the time everyone started to pick up Sarah J. Maas. With the Alinthia series, I think I would have been much happier had it been solidly in the new adult genre from the start – this kind of story just doesn’t feel right to me with young adult characters. Even though we are drifting more firmly into the new adult category, my initial response was young adult, and my brain is stuck in that young adult mindset.
Overall, as you can see, my feelings towards this series continue to be mixed. I’m now stuck with the debate as to whether I wish to continue reading the series, or whether I am going to call it quits. On the one hand, my mind is begging for me to continue – this is Siobhan Davis, she usually wins you over and you’re obsessed. On the other hand, my mind is reminding me of all the other books I have to read – including other Siobhan Davis books I’m sure to enjoy more. Maybe I will continue, maybe I won’t, I guess we’re going to have to wait and see – with how strong my Siobhan Davis addiction is, I fear it may be the former, but I have no wish to say just yet.
The Secret Heir starts off right where The Lost Savior ends and continues on with this great plot line. Again, this series is a paranormal/sci-fi reverse harem and if you have never read anything within this genre (reverse harem), you are definitely missing out on some great stories.
Tori is coming to grips with her identity and her powers. As she is training with Maddox, she is trying to learn more about everything from Dane but ends up butting heads with him more than anything. On top of that, she is trying to help Coop with his jealousy and pull Becket out of his shyness. Tori is attracted to each of them individually and their own reactions to Tori is what helps push this story forward. They all play an intricate role in what is to come.
I won't give away any plot points as this is a book (series) that the reader needs to experience everything first hand by themselves. Siobhan takes us on a journey that is not only entertaining but intriguing. You find yourself wanting to get to know these characters more as we learn more about them and how things came to be.
Siobhan's writing style immerses you into the world she has created. There is no slow down with the twists, action and suspense she brings. There's a lot that goes on, but not once do you feel lost - you just see the bigger picture being put together slowly. And in true Siobhan style, she leaves us reeling with a cliffy that has us begging for the next book NOW.
I remember writing my review for The Lost Savior (Alinthia #1) and hoping I'd get more insight in the entire universe Siobhan Davis created. I'm happy to say I got just that with this novel. We're indulged in the history, we get to know more about what happened all those years ago and there are some new characters introduced to us.
There are some twists and turns I did and din't see coming, which kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to read and read and read.
As for the relationships between Alinthia and her four guys: love it. There's slow progress with some, quicker progress with others and I love it. It proves that they're different, that they aren't motivated by the same things and that they're willing to take their time and their own pace to get to know Alinthia and find their place. [There are some definite steamy scenes, but.. honestly? I would've liked some more of those, ha!]
This book has basically left me breathless... How do I write my review? I feel like I’m an emotional wreck!
Don’t mistaken my anxiousness. I LOVED the book. I actually want to pick it up and read it again. Even with all its emotion and angst. Oh, I thought I was going to turn inside out at times. But I love these characters. That’s the thing!! I ADORE THEM!!! So when they’re dealing with so much, I’m falling apart!!
This second installment of the Alinthia series really brought Tori (Alinthia) closer to each one of her protectors individually. It was so nice to see each one of their personalities, and how they opened up to her. But, of course there are complications and they cause a lot of worry and angst for Tori (Alinthia) and the guys, and therefore we as the reader feel it along with them. I’m not going to say too much about what happens, because you need to read it to find out. But I will say that Siobhan Davis can write a book that you become so invested in while reading it, that it gets under your skin. And my skin is jumpy today! I need the next book ASAP!!! No pressure or anything Siobhan!! Lol!
Get swept away in the Alinthia series. This sci-fi romance has completely captured my attention. It is the perfect binge read.
Tori is struggling to harness and unlock her powers. Her protectors are training with her and working to unleash her full potential. Something is still holding her back.
Her connection with Copper, Maddox, and Beck has grown, yet she and Dane still struggle to find their footing. They butt heads more than they make up. He’s still questioning both her loyalty and her intentions.
However, the threat to her safety is real. Bounty hunters and enemies are searching for the Chosen One. She needs her protectors now more than ever. A division amongst them only weakens their connection. They must find a way to come together and fight as a unit.
Battles will be fought, but there are too many enemies to protect her from. Nothing is as it seems and secrets will only tear them apart. You’ll be left wanting more because we have yet to find her truth.
This series is addicting. I am eager to continue Tori’s journey to reach her destiny. The sexual tension is thick between her and all four of her protectors. I look forward to the culmination of their feelings and seeing it finally reach its peak. Each of the guys shares a special bond with one another, as well as Tori. I love their chemistry and the suspense keeps me coming back for more.
Alinthia just keeps getting more captivating and more complex. What I’m loving most about this series though is Tori’s journey- not only her challenges as she continues to try to figure out who she is and what she can do with her own powers, but how Siobhan is painting that part of herself as a metaphor for some of her own maturing- getting over her own holdbacks, trying to figure out her connection with Copper, Maddox, Beck, and Dane- trying to work through how they fit, how to work together, motivations and allegiances.
So beautifully balanced with our relational journeys are the threats and action that kept me on my toes. Enemies are plenty- and no one is safe. The only path forward is for Tori to figure out how to leverage her strengths, and for this harem to find a way to work together and lean on each other. We have much yet to discover and answer, but we also get some truthbombs here- one I saw coming but was still flabbergasted nonetheless. The danger, the relational tension just make for such anticipation, and I’m so thirsty for all these feelings to become unfurled. These characters are so delightfully unique and thrilling- more!
I'm dying you guys. I AM DYING. I don't even know where to begin or what to say to truly explain how much I'm enjoying this story. I mean, it's only book 2 and it's obvious there is much more to come because I mean..you can tell!
I hope this series continues for many more books. Like, double digits. I could read these characters forever.
As usual, I NEVER include any type of spoilers with my reviews because I can't stand them! So as I try to always state, this is a spoiler free review. I mean, I don't even like to say certain parts that I loved because I don't want it to give anything away for you guys!
The story picks up where the first book left off. The chemistry between all the guys and Tori/Alinthia still feels completely authentic and real to me which I love! I love that things are NOT forced between any of them. I'm pretty sure I mentioned in my review for The Lost Savior (Alinthia #1) that this was the first book I have ever read that is part of the Reverse Harem genre. I don't know if I could actually enjoy Reverse Harem if it wasn't written the way that Siobhan writes this.
She makes it feel SO believable! Like, I'm not sitting here reading this thinking "Yeah OKAY she likes ALL these guys? Sure whatever.." instead I'm sitting here rooting and cheering for EACH of the guys. I'm sitting here reading and applauding the way that Tori/Alinthia handles each of the relationships and the intricate emotions that are tied to each relationship.
Just yeah, freaking bravo Siobhan. I love your face and this story! I am absolutely, positively, beyond excited for book three to release.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
I will never, ever, ever, EVER give false praise to a story, I will always, ALWAYS tell you how I honestly feel about it without sugar coating. Of course I'm not a total bitch so I'm also never going to bad mouth an author. I'm very much a half glass full kinda girl, so no matter what you'll only find honest reviews from me on all books that I read and share my thoughts on :)
The Secret Heir was a phenomenal continuation to the Alinthia Series. Once you think the plot is going one way, Siobhan throws in one of her trademark curveballs and everything you thought you knew about the characters has changed. I had such an amazing time reading this, and I promise you will too.
Again, I loved how each of the guys had their time with Tori, from innocent and sweet to hot and steamy. I did not find any to be favored over the others which resulted in me adoring each one just as she does. You truly appreciate all of their differences, and it keeps your attention throughout the entire book. It takes major talent to have so many guys in one story and to give each one their own distinct personality and voice. You will not mix these hotties up at all!
This book was a little different than the first for me because there was no ugly crying, but I laughed and swooned pretty hard which was a nice break. You should also prepare yourselves for some "Omg WHAT?!" moments. New characters and alien species are introduced as well as some pretty cool scenery details as we travel to a different planet. I especially enjoyed how evil a couple of the characters were. For me, the more despicable the villain, the better!
If you have enjoyed Siobhan's Saven Series, you will absolutely love this one as well. If you haven't, go on and do so once you finish this! I can't think of anything better while waiting for the next in this series to come out!
Tori knows who she is (Alinthia), knows her history (alien princess), and knows what she is supposed to accomplish (save the world). The problem is she has no idea what to do! She can't control her powers, she's worried about her visions and dreams, she has doubts, she has guilt, she has regrets. She's keeping secrets. Her bonds with Coop, Maddox, and Beck are deepening but Dane is keeping his distance. He doesn't trust Tori and has his secrets too. This is threatening the bond. And while the enemy aliens haven't attacked yet, they all know it's just a matter of time. If they can't work as a team, they will fall. When an unexpected newcomer arrives, secrets are revealed, weaknesses exposed. By the time Tori figures out the truth, it may be too late. She may lose her guys. The fight may be lost before the battle even begins.
The Secret Heir is fantastic, even better than book one. The suspense increases, the tension rises, the danger escalates. Tori is a mess. One minute she's strong and assured, the next a bundle of self-doubt. This is perfect. Sure, she is supposed to be the Savior but it's only been two months. This is overwhelming and she has been raised as a human. I love that she isn't automatically perfect. I love that she is worried that she could be the destroyer, not the savior. I wish she could trust the guys enough to confide in them but I understand her fears. I also love how her relationship with each guy is progressing and is so unique to that particular guy. Coop's jealousy, Beck's shyness and insecurity. Both are such contradictions to the other areas of their lives. Dane's reserved behavior, his distrust, his coldness frustrate me. Each time I sympathize with him and understand his motives, he takes it too far. And my favorite, Maddox. I love this guy; protective, accepting, supporting, loving. I enjoyed the time with Tori's classmates and friends as well. Kylie, Zara, and Jensen are important. They helped make Tori into the woman she is today. Without that foundation, Alinthia wouldn't stand a chance becoming who she needs to be.
This book is signature Siobhan Davis. It's impossible not to become completely immersed in this story and its characters. It's non-stop; non-stop action, small twists and turns, huge surprises, major shocks. There are shopping trips and trips to alien worlds. There are physical fights and emotional ones; confessions and revelations; introductions, reunions, and good-byes. New characters and the return of missing characters. There are pretend betrayals and bone-jarring, soul-destroying betrayals. It delivers action and romance. It also ends with a signature Siobhan cliffhanger that will leave you gasping and possibly cursing. You will definitely be worrying and anticipating the next book!
Tori has a lot on her plate, be it learning she is really an alien bound to four (hot) strangers who want to protect her, being the chosen one to save humanity, typical high school drama, her father's death, oh and the vision she had that she may be the destruction of the four brothers she has come to love. Tori wants nothing more but to be who the guys think she is, but she has doubts and when a new person shows up that Tori can't even try to compete with, she has no idea what to do or who to trust.
Keep in mind kids, this is not a standalone novel instead the second in a series that MUST be read in order otherwise you are completely missing out on all the plot, character development and awesomeness that was found in the book one, The Lost Heir.
Just when I think I can't love Siobhan more and I have found a favorite book by her, I read a new one that becomes my new favorite. The Secret Heir how now taken top spot in my Siobhan love (I am a totally fan girl)! There was so much going on in the pages, and I was sucked into the story. I read this book in less than a day because I could not stop myself, I was compelled to continue and see what would happen next. There was a little bit of everything from danger, action, deceit, heartache, attraction, battles, drama, make-ups and shocks. Oh and did I mention the steam? Whoa, there was so much sexual tension oozing out of the book, yep be prepared for some very hot encounters as well as the potential for more to come...hopefully (go team Cooper and Maddox all the way- screw Dane (not in a fun way but in a vote-you-off-my-island kind of way), and Beck felt more like a little brother than a love interest to me, but different strokes for different folks).
Siobhan, why do you do this to me? I was lulled into an almost sense of security and the BOOM the carpet was ripped out from underneath me and everything is a hot mess! Ack, the ending to the book was crazy and surprising and a huge cliff hanger and I have no idea how I can wait months for the next book. Seriously, I may just combust while counting down the days. I just want to reread the book, hug it to my chest, throw it across the room from it's betrayal and force all my friends to read it- so basically I am completely in love with this story and highly recommend this series for any Reverse Harem fans out there!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
I love how the writing of Ms. Davis can instantly transport me to whatever world she has created and help me lose myself in it. I can forget my "real world" problems and just relax into a tale that's woven so creatively that I can quite honestly forget where I am.
I've never really been a big fan of Sci-Fi romance and alien type stories, but ever since the first book I've read by Siobhan Davis, I've been converted. She writes this world so well that it seems possible and even plausible. I love her take on how an alien could be 'hidden' on Earth. I like the ingenious vocabulary she creates to make new alien like names and words and places. Her imagination knows no boundaries and it's extremely entertaining to read.
The characters in this story are so loyal and caring and protective of each other. From Tori and the guys, down to Tori's friend, Kylie, and Tori's mother, everyone seems to always be looking out for each other and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of selfishness in the protagonists of the story. The villains, on the other hand, are written so evil, and so disgusting that you just LOVE to hate them. You want to see them annihilated and you want to see our heroes succeed in their missions.
I'm especially fond of some of the relationships between Tori and the guys. Tori and Dane have a very tension-filled dynamic and it's both invigorating and agonizing to read through. I love the sensitivity shown in Beck's character and how shy and sweet he is. Overall, I love that each of the male leads has such a distinctive personality and a different relationship with Tori herself. And I like how they work together and get along like brothers.
As is the style of our lovely Ms. Davis, there will be a cliffhanger at the end of this book, so you are forewarned! I've come to love these cliffhangers as much as they frustrate me (because I want more now, darn it!) and I'm very eager for book three's release sometime last this summer!
If you've enjoyed any of Siobhan Davis' previous work, you'll probably find yourself enjoying this series just as much, but please start with The Lost Savior or you will definitely find yourself lost.
As part of the ARC Team, I received an advanced copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.
It is hard to write a review of this without having a spoiler, so I am only going to write about what I liked and didn't like about this book.
What I liked:
While Siobhan Davis classifies this book as "reverse harem" I don't think of it that way. I find reverse harem books frustrating. The guys are always clueless and the girl is every guy's fantasy. I always say "girl...just make up your mind! and "guys...no girl is perfect!". This book is different. Tori and the guys have a symbiotic relationship. They exist as a unit. Yes, there is jealousy between the guys when Tori shows more affection or attention to one of the others. But the relationship between the guys and Tori is more understandable.
While I love all of Siobhan's books, I think Siobhan's science fiction books are the best. This book takes place in the same universe as Saven - all be it, year's earlier. This series has many of the same elements that made the Saven series so great. Wonderful world building, culture, and history.
The elements of the story - like the Saven series - are unexpected. I did not anticipate the path the story or the characters take. Which makes this series a very interesting read.
What I didn't like Very little.
Sometimes the characters and supporting characters don't match their age. Tori is supposed to be a 17 year old high school student. Yet, she is able to walk out of school, live with the guys, do whatever she wants and no one seems to be bothered or concerned.
As a whole, I am really enjoying this series. I am really looking forward to the next book. I really hope that it turns out that there is a connection between Tori and the guys and the characters in Saven. This would add more to the Saven series and drive Siobhan to write more about the universe she has created.
If you are looking for a book that is packed with action and some romance then I would recommend this book to you.
These books really work on the connection between Alinthia and her protectors which I love because it really feels like the love connection is building in a great way that is not to quick but not to slow all at the same time while also adding a nice alien twist.
This book picks up right where the last left off and now Alinthia also known as Tori continues to train with her protectors and her powers seem to be growing but that's not all; there are quite a few plot twists that really make the book so much more exciting and fun to read but also leaves me wanting to read more because of the cliffhanger at the end.
Despite the fact that this book has a cliffhanger which means have to wait a couple months for the next book I thoroughly enjoyed this book and definitely would consider reading the series a second, third, and fourth time in the future. Even though I have only read two books in the series so far I have already decided it is one of my favorites because it is so exciting and romantic.
This series is bit of a slow burn with some suggestive scenes and violence that is suitable for readers 17 and up only.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review.
This is the second book in the Alinthia series and oh wow the twist, turns and general freak outs keep you reading. I completely lost track of time reading this book because I did not want to put it down. This author has always found ways to surprise me in every series she has written. I totally wish that I was a fly on the wall of the authors work space as she writes the third book, I do not want to wait !!! But alas I must!!! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The Secret Heir is book 2 of the Alinthia series by Siobhan Davis and is the continuation of Tori’s story along with Cooper, Beck, Dane and Maddox.
Siobhan Davis has done it again. This is a great addition to her new RH series and she keeps the readers on the edge of their seat as she gives us plot twist after plot twist. Just when I thought I'd got it figured out and knew what was coming next, she'd throw in a surprise that had me gasping or my stomach dropping. Despite having read several of Siobhan Davis’ books, I'm still in awe of her work and how she creates amazing stories that has the reader unable to stop reading and wanting to jump straight into the next book.
We get to know the four guys, Cooper, Beck, Dane and Maddox, better in this book and I still can't decide which I prefer, so I'm gonna take them all please lol. Each of the guys appear to settle more into their individual roles within Tori’s life in this book. I like how Siobhan Davis has created each of them to have their own characteristics and meet different needs within Tori whose life has changed so much. Things start to heat up between Tori and the guys in this book and the pace things develop is balanced so well with what else is a happening in their lives.
As I now expect from Siobhan Davis, The Secret Heir ends with a cliffhanger and it's torture having to wait for book 3 as I have all these possibilities running around in my head about what could happen next. I've got questions I'm desperate to ask but I know I need to wait and the waiting, like it always is when it comes to a book from one of my top 10 authors, will be worthwhile.
*I reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book and all opinions are my own
Great storyline, I like how this book picked up right where book 1 ended. So many twists and turns to keep you interested. I can't wait to find out what happens next.
The second book was just as has dropping as the first!!! I loved reading how Alinthia's relationship grows with the boys . Completely action packed with a few new dropping surprises. David is does not disappoint. I can't wait to read the next book, especially after this one ended on such a cliff hanger!!!
What a tangle web we weed when we practice to deceived!!! This is the lesson that Alinthia/ Tori and her protectors had to leaned the hard way. The second book in this series takes us on a wild journey of trust, forgiveness, true evil and betrayal. I was on one emotional high that I can’t wait find out what happened in book 3....Great cliffhanger 🔷🔷🔷🔷
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book."
I really enjoyed this second book in the series. The relationships are complicated but passionate and loving. The MC is strong and honest and loves all her guys. I cannot wait for the next book!
I have received a copy which I have voluntarily reviewed. The Secret Heir is the amazing sequel to The Lost Savior. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and it is even better than the previous one.
TSH picks up right after the TLS. That giant cliffy in book one had me wanting more. Things about Tori's past and her true nature are revealed. However, the true villans are really shown in this book and play a bigger role.
Tori, I have got to admit, was a hard character to like at first. I really did not like how in book one she kept on dragging her ex-boyfriend along. And, a few other things. However, Tori really showed her true colors. I could now see proof that she is really destined to be the chosen one. Tori's strength and loyalty in the book really won me. I also liked how she became a true warrior and endured endless tests.
Since this is reverse harem, there are multiple boys and one girl. Beckett, Dane, Cooper, and Maddox really won me over. I like how each of them dote on Tori and are always there for her. Siobhan did a great job showing sizzling chemistry and true emotion in the relationship between the boys. I loved Davis reveals more about the boys and how each of them are unique. I throughouly loved Dane and Beckett in this book. I loved how they showed that there was so much more than what met the eye.
The action and world building in this book really expanded. I love how more is revealed about General Amaratu. And, the entire events of the book seem fishy at first and then the giant plot twist is revealed. There are some extremely vicious characters in this novel. Davis did a great job. I really really hated Alandra, a villan you will meet.
The romance part was one of my favorite parts. Davis has a way of doing her magic. I was extremely hesitant to read Reverse Harem. However, after reading this book, I really like the entire idea and I'm more open to it. There was sizzling chemistry and steamy scenes, but true emotion and deeper meaning. Plus, the trails they encounter really push the bonds.
Altogether, this is a great second installment to the Alinthia series. I througly loved reading every minute of these characters. I can't wait for the third installment. Great job, Siobhan!
I was super stoked when I was able to get my hands on a copy of this book, especially with the way that the last one ended. Like, I've been really anxious to find out what was going to happen next!
And I just...
Umm...
I think I'm still processing my feelings!
I read through this one at lightning speed, because that's how excited I was to be able to read this.
This book starts up literally right after where the second one left off, and Tori is feeling sorry for herself, and blaming herself for what happened to you know who. And right away, I just wanted to shake her and say "GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF!!" which she did, eventually.
There was so much world building and character building in this book, which I absolutely love. I like getting to see book characters grow up and progress from being unsure and insecure about who they are, to kick @$$ characters who won't take crap from anyone.
I loved getting to see Tori spend more time with her guys, and seeing their relationships grow closer, it totally made me smile. I love all the guys, but my favorite is still Beckett (because I usually go for the cute nerdy ones, lol)
There were surprises in this book, some that I expected and others that I absolutely did not.
This was a fantastic continuation to the Alinthia series, and I'm very very very much looking forward to the next book, especially since this one ended with a cliffhanger *SIGHS* authors are trying to kill me with cliffhangers, I swear.
If you've read and enjoyed the first one, then you should definitely continue on with the series. Or if you love a good SciFi book packed with action, romance, and mystery, then this is the series for you!
*I am voluntarily reviewing complimentary Advance Readers Copy of this book. All of the thoughts and opinions that are expressed above are completely and totally %100 percent mine, and I have not been compensated in any way for this review.
Wonderful writing. Interesting storyline. I love Siobhan Davis' take on alien species, and I can't wait to read more! I'm enjoying the reverse harem aspect, and am really looking forward to seeing that storyline progress. I liked getting POV's from the 4 boys, the story is mainly told in Tori's POV, but it's great to get those chapters from the boys. There's some action in this book, and I absolutely love battles, so that was awesome! I'd love more of that!
Tori isn't my favorite of Siobhan's heroines, but I still like her. She has lots of room to mature and grow in this series, so I look forward to that. Hopefully as the story progresses she'll become one of my favorites. I hated that she expected honesty, but kept secrets of her own. She also seemed selfish a lot of the time, and would make remarks about how intelligent she was, or how she was always the best at everything, and those comments rubbed me the wrong way. Also at times, she doesn't seem genuine in her feelings for the boys. As I said, I'm enjoying the reverse harem aspect, but I'm not fully feeling the emotional connection between Tori and the guys. The romantic scenes felt misplaced at times, and some of the relationships felt forced. As with Tori growing, I hope the emotional connection between Tori and the guys grows much deeper in the next books.
I'm also hoping that the setting will change soon, I'm ready for this story to progress further. I wasn't in love with the twist, and I really hope it isn't going to turn into some redemption type of thing, but it added an interesting element to the story. The book was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end, and I'm really looking forward to reading more! Siobhan Davis is one of my favorite authors, so I'll definitely continue to read more from her! Her Saven series and her True Calling series are my favorites!
My first question is, why did I wait so long to read this series?
My second question is, where can I get four hot protectors for myself?!
Tori’s life changed completely in only a moment.
Having planned out her future with boyfriend Jensen, she was looking forward to walking her path until the day she and her friends were attacked by an alien bounty hunter and then four smoking hot guys showed up at her school.
Feeling intensely drawn toward and turned on by them in equal measure, Tori eventually learns she isn’t human. In fact, she is royalty sent to Earth as a baby in order to hide her identity and powers until she was ready. The four hot guys - Cooper, Dane, Maddox and Beck - are her protectors, chosen before birth to serve her in all ways and for always.
Tori knows she must push all those she loves away, including Jensen, for whom she doesn’t feel the same anymore. And with her Earth father dead in an attack, it’s up to Tori to learn what she needs to save her planet from the evil invaders.
This book kicks it up a notch or ten with excitement. With Tori fully embracing who and what she is, she moves in with the guys and finally breaks it off with Jensen for good. The breakup was really hard to read. Jensen seems like such a decent guy who’s taken care of Tori her entire life. To have that relationship just yanked away from him, literally overnight, was heart breaking.
The four protectors, though, are super hot. I claim dibs on Cooper, by the way. But this RH actually seems more realistic with some jealousy issues thrown in. Tori and a couple of the guys have gotten to second base at last! Hope some home runs are coming in the future.
Some game changing action takes place right toward the end, ratcheting up the alien vibe to 11. Can’t wait to start on book three!
I think the best indicator of an author's ability to draw you into a book is how bereft you feel when you finish it. I actually groaned at the end of this one!!! The Secret Heir continued to build up the story and really set up Alinthia's blossoming as a warrior princess in the next stage. I loved the first book and was dying to read book 2, but I'm back to the dying stage now waiting for book 3 and the real alien ass-kicking to start!
I loved the relational developments in The Secret Heir. I'm new to the RH genre and am pleased that it's more than just sexual attraction, but rather how each growing relationship between Cooper, Maddox, Dane, Beckett and Tori/Alinthia is unique and fills one of her different needs. The guys all have their own charms and it's deliberately hard to pick the perfect partner (although we all have our favorite), thus the beauty of not having to choose one. It's also really neat to have all of them share a special connection with each other. Of course, the sexual tension/attraction is almost an entity of its own in this story. There is something proactive about it that makes it almost more potent than the one between Sadie and Logan in Davis' fantasy/sci-fi Saven series: the bond created by the Ceremony of Light seems to have its own agenda!
The author keeps up with my expectations in terms of twists and turns. I read a lot of books and sometimes things get repetitive, but not with Siobhan Davis! As usual, the story line goes off grid at one point and my brain has to rewind and restart to ingest what's happening. I don't know how many times her books made my eyes bug out and mouth drop open: it's impossible to predict the outcome and I love it! In the end, I feel each new book is worth the wait.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
I was really lucky to read a BETA version of this book.
Reverse Harem is a new genre for me, but I was willing to try it because I love all of Siobhan's work. I'm really glad that I took the risk, because I loved the first book in this series, just like I love all of her work. I was so upset when the first one ended. I just wanted the rest of the story and I wanted it right there and then!
I was really excited for book 2, The Secret Heir. As always, Ms. Davis did not disappoint. I love her writing. I love how it draws me in. Within in a few sentences, she has me hooked in, and I am home. There is something so truly delicious about the comfort of picking up a book by a favorite author and knowing the writing will be superb.
I really liked getting to see more of Alinthia/Tori's relationships with each of the boys. In particular, I loved getting to see the interactions between Tori and Beck, because he is my favorite. There is something about that shy boy that is just so gosh darn cute, I can't resist it!!! Dane drove me crazy, but in a good way, the way where you are mad at a character because they're driving you crazy, but you wouldn't actually change it, because it's in line with who the character is.
There are some really surprising things that happen in this book. I was in suspense almost the entire time I was reading this book.
The ending nearly killed me and I can't wait to see what happens next. If you liked the first book in the series, I would definitely recommend The Secret Heir!
The latest book in the Alinthia series blew me away! I had to take a few days to process how I feel. The Author deftly weaves action, and mystery into this growing romance. Alinthia and her men experienced significant growth and movement in their relationship, but for every step forward, there were two steps back to their progress. The characters never really get a chance to rest in this book, as there are unknown entities working behind the scenes to undermine them at every turn. They still get the chance for some steamy encounters, and I loved the mature way that Alinthia handled navigating a relationship with multiple men, their personalities and feelings. The progression is natural and never feels forced. We finally get the answers to the burning questions left over from the first book, but the answers come as fast as the new obstacles! You'll have to wait for it, but the reveal is well worth the wait! Once again, we are left with new obstacles to overcome and a cliffhanger of an ending! Wow! I will be waiting eagerly to see how the characters navigate out of this one! I am rooting for Alinthia to meet her full potential and take her enemies head on, but she won't be doing it alone, she's got some serious support on her side, those men of hers! * I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased opinion*
oh, wow! I am hooked; can't wait to see how this all plays out! I always love Ms Davis's work and The Secret Heir is no exception! I find it incredibly engaging and, as usual with her stories, extremely well written. The plot is exciting and action-packed; the protagonists are likable and really easy to root for! Alinthia is constantly facing new challenges as twists and turns are thrown into her path; she just keeps rising to the occasion and finding ways to do what she needs to do. I find it inspiring to see that in her character. And there is always at least one of the Roth brothers there supporting and encouraging her when she needs it. Not to mention the ever vigilant protection they offer. And together they're all growing and developing their relationships which is quite interesting for me to read about. Now I just can't wait to read the next installment! I knew this one would end with a cliffhanger, so that didn't surprise me, but it was a doozy, so I am chomping at the bit for the resolution to where it left off!
Wow!! even more action packed than the first book. If you haven't read book 1, you MUST read it first or be completely lost. it's definitely worth the read!! This book is filled with even more mystery, action, surprises and oh so many confusing twists and turns. Confusing to Alinthia and the guys that is. Who is friend and who is foe? After losing her father, Tori/Alinthia's world turns on it's head. Can she truly trust the visions she's seen, or the fact she's supposed to be The Chosen One? Conflicting information comes at every turn, and not all the guys are warm and fuzzy. Should she listen to her heart, her instincts, or her head? Mysterious events and a surprise visitor shake everything up... it is certainly one heckuva ride, and well worth taking.... it definitely leaves the reader excited to get to the next book in this amazing series.
